Re: Super Bomberman Collection Out Now On eShop, Full Cart Release Coming In August

ChessboardMan

BTW, if you want to play the Switch 2 version as cheaply as possible, do not buy the Switch 2 edition. Buy the Switch 1 version, then buy the upgrade- it’s slightly cheaper. Why publishers do that occasionally, I have no idea.
Unless there’s a hidden benefit to purchasing the Switch 2 edition rather than the Switch 1 + Upgrade? But even the eShop page states the Switch 2 edition is just the Switch 1 version + upgrade…

Re: LEGO Pokémon Reveals First Sets, Launches February 2026

ChessboardMan

Bloody hell, those starters evolutions are beyond expensive.
And they kinda have an… element of designed by Micheal Bay, so full of jagged edges. I mean, yeah they’re Lego, but the Megabloks Charizard and Pikachu are not as ugly… and a lot cheaper. Eevee looks good though. Will consider on a discount.

Re: 'Nitrome Classics' Range Announced For Switch, First Game Arrives In Early 2026

ChessboardMan

Twin Shot Deluxe looks like it would be a great multiplayer game for my Switch. But it’s odd… the blog on Nitrome’s own website has no mention of this exciting development. In fact, it hasn’t updated in years. Maybe they lost access to the blog?
Anyway, hopefully these first titles do well and they expand this range. Though I have to admit, I’m hoping they’re fairly cheap, maybe even Hamster Arcade Achieves price range? Though I suppose that will depend on how much work they are to make.

Re: Ongoing MicroSD Shortages Could Have A Knock-On Effect For Switch 2 Storage Availability

ChessboardMan

Part of the reason why the keycards were such a bad idea for this gen, is that space to download games is so limited, especially by the Express requirement. Not to much even actual physical games have DLC and patches.
Something they should possibly consider is what Sony do. You can store games on an ordinary portable hard drive (or an ordinary Micro SD was it would be for the Switch 2), but to play it, you transfer it to the faster internal memory. Then I’d be able to use my 1.5TB card…

Re: New Marvel Cosmic Invasion Trailer Highlights The Hero-Swapping Tag-Team Feature

There’s 15 characters? … 15 divided by 2 characters per player…

… I wish this game was 7 players.

Ok, that might be a little extreme, but they spoilt me after making Shredder’s Revenge 6 players. I really hope they patch in the ability for more players, at least on Switch, or even just Switch 2. Being able to use almost the full roster of characters would be so cool.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender Is Getting Its Very Own Switch 2 Fighter Next Year

ChessboardMan

Is no one going to mention that it looks/feels jarring to have the young adult version of Korra beating the snot out of kid Aang?
I mean, yes a lot of the original series was this gang of kids showing they could go toe to toe with adults, but put the control of the adult into a player’s hands and suddenly it feels more personal, like we’re bullying kids, especially if a guy good at fighters gets good with an adult character. Do you see what I mean? It starts to get a bit messed up?

Re: Former Bungie CEO's Studio ProbablyMonsters Announces 'Storm Lancers' For Switch

ChessboardMan

It looks good, but not exactly… special. Just isn’t wowing me from the video alone. I’m probably need to play it, and probably with someone else.
Also, while couch co-op is the best, it’s not always exactly feasible. If they made it compatible with the Switch 2 Online chat and camera support, that might be good way to get a bit of the feel of couch co-op with online, but they might not be working on online at all? But these days many of us live alone, and the chance for couch co-op meet-ups are few and far between.

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 Wheel - Flawed, But Still Fun

ChessboardMan

Does anyone know if any companies are making a single joycon grip accessory yet (I’ve seen one cheap looking make, and I’m hesitant to jump in yet), and in particular, one that takes into account some games seem to be using the actual bumper button like DK Bananza? Are any other games doing that, out of interest? I don’t remember any Switch 1 games that did that, is it new for the Switch 2?

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 Wheel - Flawed, But Still Fun

ChessboardMan

Something I’d like to add. Until we get some good proper Single Joycon grips, these make a fine grip for now, as the shoulder buttons feel really responsive, and the wheel shape actually makes for a pretty good grip hold. Not perfect, especially if games are going to make use of the actual bumper button in single joycon mode like DK Bananza does, but a good alternative for now. Just because you put a controller in the wheel, doesn’t mean you have to use the tilt controls, the joystick is still nicely placed, and playing MKW the other day I had a great time with my niece, with her using the tilt controls and me using the analogue stick controls, but making use of the easier to press and responsive shoulder buttons.

Re: Metroid Fans Rejoice, New Switch Icons Are Now Available Just For You

ChessboardMan

Part of me wants to believe this is in preparation for MP4’s release, but last month we had Zelda ones with no fresh release. And we had Mario Kart ones a while before the release of World…
Though maybe I’ll hope for a Metroid Direct, as I don’t think we’ve had a Ninny Direct that focused on Prime 4 alone? But yeah, I wish they’d give us a release date already, I’m getting jumpy …

Re: US Retailers Are Playing With Fire With More Switch 2 Cancellations

ChessboardMan

Here in the UK, I was able to order direct from Nintendo themselves. Seemed the safest bet. I think they charged me like a week ago, and they confirmed yesterday my items are ready to be shipped. That’s a MKW Switch 2, a piranha plant camera, carry case and steering wheels. I also ordered a memory card from ShopTo, which also got charged last week. I cancelled my SF6 Preorder once I realised it was a duff release. I’ll just get from the eShop, thanks.
