Re: Imagine Among Us As A Visual Novel JRPG, And You've Got Gnosia

ChessboardMan

While I understand the Among Us comparison, the gameplay sounds much closer to a single player version of the Werewolf/Mafia games that inspired Among Us, since those games are played in turns with a night phase, where the Werewolves decide who to kill, and a day phase where you discuss and vote on who you think the werewolves are. Where in Among Us there are no set turns, and the Imposters have to find and kill victims without being caught.

Re: WayForward's New Switch Game Is Bakugan Champions Of Vestroia, Coming In November

ChessboardMan

This was disappointing, Wayforward are not known for their 3D games, and this game looked pretty poor honestly, with a weird and not especially interesting battle system from what we saw of it in the video. And the character art for human characters looked really off.
But I have plenty of other games to buy, so it matters not.
Actually, I have plenty of games to play from the pile of brought games.

… I have a problem.

Re: Feature: Which Nintendo Switch Game Did We Miss?

ChessboardMan

There are many games that catch my eye, but when I look them up, there’s little in the way of reviews.
Sea Bed, Dezatopia, Deep Diving Adventures, This Strange Realm of Mine…
And that’s just a few of the recent ones…
It would be nice for as many of the really obscure games as possible to get reviews.

Re: LEGO Super Mario Officially Unveiled, Features Interactive Mario And Fan-Favourite Characters

ChessboardMan

Like most others, I’d have preferred more traditional Lego sets along the lines of the Overwatch Lego perhaps, or, and here is my ideal, a vertical “floor” to slot pieces into to make Mario Maker style 2D levels for stop-motion play-through.
But clearly, I’m not the intended audience, so that’s ok. And they do look like they might be good interactive fun for kids, that combines building with a kind of “gaming” aspect.
I do worry about how much these sets will cost parents though, as this seems fairly advance/complex electronics.
Now if they can combine this Lego with Amiibos, imagine the possibilities.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #17 - Ninja Gaiden

ChessboardMan

Odd, I’m in the UK, but I swear I had the US Ninja Gaiden box.
BTW, the thing on the Japanese box is actually a statue (one of two I think) that was central to the plot. Ryu is trying to keep it out of the hands of the bad guys.

Re: Puma Launches Its Tetris-Themed Collection

ChessboardMan

These crossover designs are always so disappointing. They never really commit to their crossover partner, ending up with designs that have little to no relation to that franchise. The designers might know what attracts their usual customer base, but really have no idea how to connect with fans of their crossover partners.
At least these actually have actual Tetris stuff on them, but so small that you’d have to be kicking someone in the face with the back of your foot for them to notice.

Re: Trials Of Mana Remake Headed To Nintendo Switch Next Year

ChessboardMan

Why does the article title make it sound like this is the first we've heard about this? Didn't they announce this the same time they released the collection with the original version on it? When was that? E3? I mean there is a lot of new details, but we already knew it was coming.

Edit: oh, they changed the title as I was posting this.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th April (Europe)

ChessboardMan

Hang on, how much is Phoenix Wright in €? As if those prices above are right, then it’s overpriced in the UK. I just checked the UK price and it is £29.99, so unless that euro price is wrong, the UK is getting ripped off.

Re: Random: One Tiny Fix Could Make Sonic's Movie Appearance So Much Better

ChessboardMan

While the official one is bad in my opinion (he looks awfully generic for starters), I’m not sure changing the eyes makes it better.
Also we have to remember that this film is almost certainly not trying to appeal to us, but is probably aimed at kids who didn’t grow up with Sonic the same way we did. Maybe this design is as it needs to be to appeal to a younger audience not already familiar with Sonic.

Re: Review: Hello Neighbor (Switch)

ChessboardMan

As some have already said, this is a game that seemed to play a lot better in the initial phases of development. Early let's plays seem to show a rather fun and interesting game, but it got progressively worse with each update. Every other update added something that was kinda interesting maybe, but every update broke something and added something that was a bad idea, until the final product just seemed to fall flat on its face.
