@FNL an 11 minute video where a simple list with a paragraph of text for each would do? Wow, thanks for enduring and giving us the list. Also… their list includes a game they thought didn't have a great co-op mode? When there are the Neo Geo titles as well? And as someone said, yeah Bomberman's single player/ Co-Op isn't the main focus, but it's still reasonable surely?
@ThomasBW84 I don't know if you noticed during your own play (assuming you joined the Test Fire?) or if it has been stated already somewhere, but you can play with the music on the 'waiting for players' screen, while practically any of the buttons and the sticks.
Eh, I suppose it gives time for reviews to appear first, which looking at the comments here, is going to work against them. I would have nothing against buying a more expensive good if it is good, but the way it currently looks, if I want a RPG fix on my Switch, I might as well spend a tenner more for that 'I Am' game. Mind you, since starting Zelda, I haven't played anything else, on Switch at least. So I'll probably be able to hold out for even better RPG experiences.
It really looks pretty accomplished for a first look. The graphical style works wonderfully, and the gameplay mechanics on display, while quite simple, look very solid for a work in progress. I look forward to what the full game holds. I really hope he completes it, even if he needs to find help to do so.
@liljmoore @The-Chosen-one Mounting a Lynell is not to ride them, but to get in a few attacks. Mount them (after avoiding one of their charges), then press the attack button.
This might explain why I often see the ninja enemies attacking me from the water after I knock them into it. Kinda irritating really, and I did think it looked unintentional.
@tjhiphop Yeah, the Everywhere messenger bag is great, and will carry everything you could ask for, though some switching around may be needed if you want to carry the dock around And some third party joy con cradles. Other great thing about it- yes it does come with an extra case for the Switch itself, but you can fit other Switch cases too. I use the Zelda case myself. Means I don't have to worry about the game cases.
@FengLong I also got the Everywhere bag on launch day, from GAME in store, Despite the fact my mum had preordered it from them online. Unfortunately they really fudged up their orders online, so in the end, I had to buy both the messenger bag and the Zelda case myself, despite being Birthday presents. My mum Never wants to order from them Again.
That… didn't look that great actually. Gameplay aside for the moment, all the eye candy was… entirely in the background. Even the animations for Sonic himself looked a little off. Everything that looked actually impressive was in the background. It never interacts with Sonic, with gameplay.
I've been using the Everywhere Else case, which is a messenger bag designed to carry everything, including the cradle, which includes a additional case like the first one in your list (might actually be the same one). I use it with that Zelda case listed above, which fits inside it just fine. Both are, or were at least, available in the U.K. At GAME.
I think they're a good idea, and look nice, but they're mostly using official art, presumably unlicensed? Couldn't they use their own art? Isn't that the whole point of sites like that?
I'll add my two cents on accessories I've got. -I brought the Everywhere else, or whatever it is called, carry case, which is designed to hold everything that comes in the Switch box, including the dock. Also comes with a smaller separate case for the Switch itself. There's enough room for other stuff too, like a pro controller, especially since you probably don't need to take the dock everywhere. It's a fairly nice carry case. -I also, after much ordering difficulty with GAME, managed to buy that Zelda case above. And yes, it does fit inside the other carry case I mention above. The Zelda carry case looks Really nice, with some nice details (like the coin on the zipper, and the pattern on the inside). The front image is slightly weak, though mostly in comparison to the rest of the carry case. Also has holding space for Loads of games, which is really nice. And oh, it comes with a screen wiping cloth. I really recommend it.
I have yet to have any issues, but as a provision, I'm going to wait a bit before buying additional joy-cons. I really want more Joy-Cons though, but it isn't like I can afford them anyway. I wonder if, further down the line, some games will come with Special Edition Joy Cons, instead of Special Edition consoles?
Just want to share what I've heard from Amazon customer reviews: Screen Protectors, including the Super Expensive official one from Hori, are apparently peeling off after the Switch is put in the dock. This is especially concerning with other reports saying their Switch screens are getting scratched by placing them in the dock.
@aaronmclaren Cancel the Screenprotector ASAP, as according to Amazon customer reviews, the dock causes it to peal off. And yes, that's the Official Hori one that has the issue.
My Switch actually did arrive yesterday, at about 11am. But it was still stressful, with the tracking seeming to tell me that the people supposedly delivering it didn't even have it just hours before that.
Oddly, my LE Zelda BotW arrived on Thursday. Especially surprising, since I made the order late after having trouble ordering the right T-Shirt size on Desktop. It just kept Switching (Ha!) my order to a Small, making me cancel it multiple times until I figured out that the order worked just fine on mobile.
If memory serves me right, Zavvi run the Nintendo UK store, who I have always ranked poorly after they fudged up an order.
Maybe it's time for a change? Though it does seem everyone had trouble delivering this time round.
@ottospooky their last email on the topic gave tracking details. The tracking says the following: "Via: Royal Mail Tracked™ Status: We have been notified that your item is being shipped by the retailer; the next scan will appear when we receive this item into our network."
Yeah, I don't think I'll be getting "my" Switch today, but a friend, who also apparently ordered from the official store and has already got his one, has offered to swap, or rather, "Switch" his for mine, since he's not planning to open it immediately. I'm going to sleep a little more to settle my nerves then pop over to see him.
@60-hz @jamiesummerz Considering that one of the biggest Switch Selling points is impromptu multiplayer and that the Neo Geo was before the time of duel sticks, I can't imagine them missing out on that trick. If they did, then that's just plain dumb.
Online I see as less likely. The above article mentions Online scoreboards, so I would imagine they would have mentioned online multiplayer too if it was included.
Currently, it doesn't look like I'll be buying Any eShop titles today. Royal Mail haven't even got my Switch yet, so I don't see how the Official Nintendo Store expects them to deliver it today. When I do get my hands on it, I'll be downloading a ton of stuff…
These reassurances do not really quell my fears, especially with their previous track record. Hilariously, as stated above, all my other Switch Goodies arrived Today.
@S20TEW Oddly, my LE copy of BotW arrived today with the Amiibos I ordered too, from the Official Nintendo Store. @Tom41 My Pro Controller also arrived today. Like you, I have no Switch to use it on though.
"Missed the European Nintendo Download Update earlier in the week? Don't fret, the details are still right here." But that post is still missing the Switch eshop stuff.
@Emperor-Palpsy Only they're possibly lying. My mum preordered a Switch carry case I could only find at GAME for me for my Birthday (The Switch Launch Date), and received an email yesterday telling her that PayPal had refused the payment. She phoned PayPal, who told her that they had done no such thing, and that the payment was still clear to go, and was just sitting there waiting for GAME to take it. And when my mum tried to phone GAME, she couldn't get through. Feels like they have not had enough stock of stuff, and are coming up with excuses to cancel preorders.
@BrizzoUK this is a very good point. The fact that developers are not being forced to make games work for both modes is going to be very attractive to them, and hopefully atttact more third party support. There are going to be certain games that won't work in docked mode, even with motion-pointy controls, and even if such controls could be made to work, they're often not going to work for actual players all that well (remember all the "TOO MUCH WAGGLE!!!" Complaints with Wii games?) making them a waste of time for developers to work on. If they allow dock only games also, that would give developers that are having trouble to get their game to work in portable mode some breathing space, at least until they can patch it to work in both modes. If developers don't feel forced to do something that is unnecessary, then in the end it benefits both developers and gamers. Don't worry about choice, there'll still be plenty of games that'll work in both modes for you to "Switch" over to.
I'm looking forward to Nintendo's implementation of Switch VR, as the HD rumble sounds like it would be Perfect for VR. Holding the controller in front of your face, no matter how impressive the HD Rumble is, it'll still be clear that you're holding a controller. But with the added level of deception of a VR world in front of your eyes will make it just that extra level of convincing.
I wonder if we'll ever find out who the masked man is? And will the main characters ever find that missing friend of theirs? And is the answer to both my questions possibly related?
I think they probably had to delete due to showing off too much of the UI, or rather, they're probably showing off the UI on a debug kit, which might be slightly different and misleading to consumers.
Just checked Argos. Good news! They seem to have preorders for that Zelda case. Bad news- they seem to list it as being £99.99 ?!!! That can't be right.
One thing about those complaining that this seems to be the only real launch title, let's be honest here, are you really going to. be playing anything else? And if you were releasing a game, would you really want to compete with this?
@Dysnomia and if one isn't happy with those shoulder buttons, it looks like it will be real easy for a third party to make an adapter with even better should buttons.
One thing that really stands out about the HD Rumble, is the potential for VR applications. Think about it. If you can see the controller, you know you're not holding a glass with ice cubes, but if you're in VR, and all you can see in your hand is a glass with ice cubes, that's going to be oddly convincing.
It will be a very happy Birthday for me this year. Just One problem…
… this seemed to be the only Launch title confirmed?
I mean, 1, 2 Switch looks to be the kind of game bundled with the system, but Arms was simply "Spring"… I was hoping for a few more launch titles to be shown/confirmed, but still, who'd want to compete with this?
@Pod I couldn't remember the name of the game, thanks. But yeah, Zombie Tsunami was the same basic idea done fun. But it was actually simpler, and also had awful graphics. Which is why I'm having so much trouble seeing how they managed to mess it up…
The tick tock was your power up running out. I figured that out after the 3rd or 5th time it did it… The base gameplay mechanic can potentially be fun. Just the implementation of the rest of the gameplay is awful… the presentation is bad, and they included that annoying "random" woman and made about 56 questionable design decisions.
Shovel Knight is one of the best made indie games. They hit the charm and retro style dead on, and had amazing level design to match. They have, and are continuing to, put so much love into the game.
