Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories You Should Buy

ChessboardMan

I'll add my two cents on accessories I've got.
-I brought the Everywhere else, or whatever it is called, carry case, which is designed to hold everything that comes in the Switch box, including the dock. Also comes with a smaller separate case for the Switch itself. There's enough room for other stuff too, like a pro controller, especially since you probably don't need to take the dock everywhere. It's a fairly nice carry case.
-I also, after much ordering difficulty with GAME, managed to buy that Zelda case above. And yes, it does fit inside the other carry case I mention above. The Zelda carry case looks Really nice, with some nice details (like the coin on the zipper, and the pattern on the inside). The front image is slightly weak, though mostly in comparison to the rest of the carry case. Also has holding space for Loads of games, which is really nice. And oh, it comes with a screen wiping cloth. I really recommend it.

Re: Delivery Issues Spoil Nintendo Switch Launch Day for Unlucky UK Buyers

ChessboardMan

My Switch actually did arrive yesterday, at about 11am. But it was still stressful, with the tracking seeming to tell me that the people supposedly delivering it didn't even have it just hours before that.

Oddly, my LE Zelda BotW arrived on Thursday. Especially surprising, since I made the order late after having trouble ordering the right T-Shirt size on Desktop. It just kept Switching (Ha!) my order to a Small, making me cancel it multiple times until I figured out that the order worked just fine on mobile.

If memory serves me right, Zavvi run the Nintendo UK store, who I have always ranked poorly after they fudged up an order.
Maybe it's time for a change? Though it does seem everyone had trouble delivering this time round.

Re: The Launch Line-Up on the European Nintendo Switch eShop

ChessboardMan

@ottospooky their last email on the topic gave tracking details. The tracking says the following:
"Via: Royal Mail Tracked™
Status: We have been notified that your item is being shipped by the retailer; the next scan will appear when we receive this item into our network."

Yeah, I don't think I'll be getting "my" Switch today, but a friend, who also apparently ordered from the official store and has already got his one, has offered to swap, or rather, "Switch" his for mine, since he's not planning to open it immediately. I'm going to sleep a little more to settle my nerves then pop over to see him.

Re: The Launch Line-Up on the European Nintendo Switch eShop

ChessboardMan

@60-hz @jamiesummerz Considering that one of the biggest Switch Selling points is impromptu multiplayer and that the Neo Geo was before the time of duel sticks, I can't imagine them missing out on that trick. If they did, then that's just plain dumb.

Online I see as less likely. The above article mentions Online scoreboards, so I would imagine they would have mentioned online multiplayer too if it was included.

Re: UK Retailer GAME Is Cancelling Nintendo Switch Preorders Days Before Launch

ChessboardMan

@Emperor-Palpsy Only they're possibly lying. My mum preordered a Switch carry case I could only find at GAME for me for my Birthday (The Switch Launch Date), and received an email yesterday telling her that PayPal had refused the payment. She phoned PayPal, who told her that they had done no such thing, and that the payment was still clear to go, and was just sitting there waiting for GAME to take it. And when my mum tried to phone GAME, she couldn't get through.
Feels like they have not had enough stock of stuff, and are coming up with excuses to cancel preorders.

Re: VOEZ Is The First Nintendo Switch Game You Can Only Play In Portable Mode

ChessboardMan

@BrizzoUK this is a very good point. The fact that developers are not being forced to make games work for both modes is going to be very attractive to them, and hopefully atttact more third party support. There are going to be certain games that won't work in docked mode, even with motion-pointy controls, and even if such controls could be made to work, they're often not going to work for actual players all that well (remember all the "TOO MUCH WAGGLE!!!" Complaints with Wii games?) making them a waste of time for developers to work on. If they allow dock only games also, that would give developers that are having trouble to get their game to work in portable mode some breathing space, at least until they can patch it to work in both modes.
If developers don't feel forced to do something that is unnecessary, then in the end it benefits both developers and gamers.
Don't worry about choice, there'll still be plenty of games that'll work in both modes for you to "Switch" over to.

Re: Gallery: These Nintendo Switch VR Mock-Ups Are Rather Eye-Catching

ChessboardMan

I'm looking forward to Nintendo's implementation of Switch VR, as the HD rumble sounds like it would be Perfect for VR. Holding the controller in front of your face, no matter how impressive the HD Rumble is, it'll still be clear that you're holding a controller. But with the added level of deception of a VR world in front of your eyes will make it just that extra level of convincing.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Confirmed For Nintendo Switch Launch Day

ChessboardMan

It will be a very happy Birthday for me this year. Just One problem…

… this seemed to be the only Launch title confirmed?

I mean, 1, 2 Switch looks to be the kind of game bundled with the system, but Arms was simply "Spring"…
I was hoping for a few more launch titles to be shown/confirmed, but still, who'd want to compete with this?

Re: Feature: A Year in Development - Yacht Club Games on Digging In With Shovel Knight

ChessboardMan

Shovel Knight is one of the best made indie games. They hit the charm and retro style dead on, and had amazing level design to match. They have, and are continuing to, put so much love into the game. The dancing sequences alone are worth entry, especially on the 3DS. Considering it is a 2D Retro title, it is surprising that is has among some of the best 3D use of any game.
But really, I want to see what they do next.

Re: SEGA 3D Classics Collection is Nowhere to be Seen in the UK Charts

ChessboardMan

Well I brought a copy on Saturday. The Oxford city centre Argos should have a copy left still if anyone wants to pick it up. I already had a couple of the titles, but this seemed a good way to get a bunch of ones I didn't have, Plus Ultra! Well, plus Power Drift and Puyo anyway. Puyo single player is Really Hard though.
My 3DS's memory card has been running out of space, so maybe I'll delete the ones I already have to free up space for other stuff?

Re: Review: Free Balling (Wii U eShop)

ChessboardMan

@SmaMan the QA on Nintendo's enough wouldn't check to see if the game is good or fun, but more to check it doesn't explode your WiiU or do anything illegal or break any of Nintendo's own rules. Maybe also check the game is playable and can be completed if it is supposed to have an end, but that would be the extent of it mostly, checking it isn't extremely broken, doesn't break anything, and doesn't break any rules or laws. If the game isn't fun, then it's probably "by design". The Nintendo Seal of Quality has always preliminarily been about not breaking your console than the fun quota of a game.

Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd September (Europe)

ChessboardMan

@dorkeybubblehead
NNOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Well my guess is that this will be a similar non-trial trial scene that mostly reuses existing characters in the game with a few extra classic characters thrown in. My guess would be a return of Mr Butz and Miss Oldbag, but that's just hopeful thinking. The first one from last week also includes Edgeworth as the 'prosecutor'.

Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd September (Europe)

ChessboardMan

OBJECTION!
That Phoenix Wright DLC came out Last Thursday! I already downloaded it and started playing it! I even downloaded the theme! It seems to be a court only case that is not an actual trial, but trying to buy time during a hostage situation! It is a non-canonical episode featuring Pearl. It seems to kinda fit after case 3, as it also features Maya, and refers to things touched on in case 3.
