Re: Feature: 20 Great Gaming Accounts You Should Follow On Bluesky

Baker1000

@Poodlestargenerica gee where to start? Buying a perfectly good, hugely influential discussion platform and broke it, just because it was too liberal for his tastes? Allowing the most dangerous man in America to have access to it again (which he thankfully hasn't obliged to use yet)? Allowing several extremely awful people such as (if you're British) Tommy Robinson and Katie Hopkins to come back and spew hate on the platform? Just his general day to day immature baiting of various protected communities? Filling our night skies with thousands of trails of satellites in a vanity project? Naming his child something akin to a web host error page-ok maybe that one is too far. But you get the gist.

We're going off topic, but I don't recall anyone from Nintendo being such a public nuisance just because they have the money to do so. Not all billionaires are bad people, it's how you use your status and money which determines that.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Soundtrack Is Real And Contains 344 Tracks

Baker1000

344 tracks of WHAT exactly? There isn't that much music in the game surely. Can't we have a more concise 2 disc version without all the filler tracks? The Xenoblade 3 soundtrack is 9 discs and 144 tracks, which is a theme for pretty much every character plus a different theme for every colony/location both day and night.

This ST must feature a whole load of sound effects for it to be so long, and squeeze that many tracks on the same number of discs. Because there sure ain't as many musical scores in this as Xenoblade, I can tell you that.

Re: Nintendo Discontinuing 'X' Integration On Switch Next Month

Baker1000

All because Elon decided to make companies pay an extortionate amount for the API. Surprised it lasted this long (including the bird logo remaining on the console) I use it all the time, if I have a screenshot or video I want to share. Just means I'll have to go through the slightly convoluted method of downloading it to my phone first. Hopefully you'll be able to do that on Switch 2 as well. The sooner a viable Twitter replacement steps up the better.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For The Knuckles Paramount+ TV Show

Baker1000

It really feels more like & Knuckles. Not really a show about him, which is a shame. Needed more lore about Knuckles, an adventure where he's the lead and not just a sidekick to someone else. The Sonic Adventure 2 story searching for the emerald shards was right there (it could have shattered after the events of the 2nd movie) but instead we got the Wade spin-off. Fun watch, but I don't think anyone who skips this will feel they've missed anything come Sonic 3.

Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Will Reportedly Feature Magnetic Joy-Cons

Baker1000

Nintendo Magneto confirmed!

Also people worried it could detach easily...I've had some pretty strong magnets in my hands before. Believe me, it's possible to have something rock solid with magnets. How you'd take them off to play on TV when they're that strong is another question though

Re: Random: BAFTA's 'Iconic Game Characters' Poll Has Us Scratching Our Heads

Baker1000

Absolutely not having this. The amount of media, merchandise and games Mario has been in, there is absolutely no way Lara Croft is more recognisible. I'm not saying she isn't iconic, she sure is, but no way is she number 1. The biggest outlier here is "Agent 47". Now, I've never played Hitman admittedly, but I didn't even know he was called that. Very much doubt anyone outside of gaming knows that, or have even heard of the games. A generic bald dude in a suit is absolutely not more recognisible or iconic than Sonic, Pikachu, Pac-Man, Link, Crash...I would put TAILS above him.

Re: Talking Point: Should 'Third' Pokémon Games Make A Comeback?

Baker1000

No, because having to play through the story again is such a chore. It's essentially the FIFA approach to games, the same thing with a little tweak. DLC is better. Also, as it's not the 00s now and games aren't on handhelds made in 2D, I'd rather that time was spent on developing the next game because they churn them out too rapidly as it is.

Re: Hands On: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Indulges Your Idiocy In The Very Best Way

Baker1000

I kept myself completely in the dark about this game so didn't read this preview at the time. I'm thankful that I did. So much you wrote about that I had no idea was in the game, from reuniting koroks, attaching things to arrows, building things and the fact that bomb flowers exist. It was so joyous to stumble upon everything and have no pre-warning of any of it. Not saying you shouldn't write about it, I'm just saying I'm grateful I allowed myself to be free of any information going into it. I bookmarked this to read when I had finished the game.

Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Announced, Coming To Switch In 2025

Baker1000

Happy to see Legends continue, it's the fresh take on Pokemon the franchise desperately needed imo. And honestly the next generation mainline game should be a few years off yet if they know what's good. The rate at which they churn those out is why they come out mediocre with graphics people laugh at. More time in the oven needed. There's a reason we don't get a 3D mainline Mario or Zelda every 3 years. Just look at Sonic...

Re: Soapbox: An Ode To Marble Garden, Sonic The Hedgehog 3's Best Zone

Baker1000

I wouldn't put it near the top of my favoutites but I suppose it is one of the more memorable ones, in a sea of levels that are largely based on the same scenery (in modern times). Ice Cap definitely one of the best, if not for the music alone (screw the replacement music), but I'd say the strongest levels are in the &Knuckles part of the game.

Re: Jim Carrey Returns As Dr. Robotnik In Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Movie

Baker1000

Not so much gold ink but gold coins, and lots of them. They must've thrown a big offer at him to make him sign on for another movie. And they would've had to, I can't see how they could make a movie based on SA2 without Robotnik. I suspect they'll write a 4th movie with a different antagonist though, this will be his last.

Re: Soapbox: After Years Of Lengthy RPG Tutorials, Golden Sun Feels Fresher Than Ever

Baker1000

@EarthboundBenjy Pokemon HMs and the Tales rings are the only examples of ability based puzzles I can think of as well. Most RPGs only stretch as far as switches or the odd ice puzzle. Like I said it's a real surprise no other games have taken the Golden Sun format and did more with it, given it's popularity and subsequent absence. Nintendo absolutely needs to bring it back

Re: Soapbox: After Years Of Lengthy RPG Tutorials, Golden Sun Feels Fresher Than Ever

Baker1000

Really surprised to see you found the puzzles a bore the first time around. That's one of the stand out elements of the games, something it does way better than any other RPG. Final Fantasy dungeons feel so DULL by comparison. Just mazes of misdirection and chests dumped at dead ends just to make you walk further.

I really don't know why more RPGs don't use magic in the same way Golden Sun does in the overworld and dungeons. It's the most natural thing ever. Characters use it to fight, why on earth wouldn't they ever use it to get around and open new paths? I've yet to find another RPG that does it. The closest thing we have is Zelda, which isn't an RPG.
