Update: Well, there it is! The June 2024 Nintendo Direct has finally been confirmed for Tuesday 18th June.
Read on to find out what Team NL expects/hopes to see, now with Alana's thoughts added thanks to her return from Summer Game Fest...
In a rather unusual move for Nintendo, company president Shuntaro Furukawa himself took to Twitter as the firm's end-of-year financials went live in May to confirm two things: a new hardware announcement would be made before the end of the current fiscal year (so, by April 2025 at the latest), and that such an announcement wouldn't be part of a planned Nintendo Direct in June 2024.
This was an attempt to calm speculation concerning the 'Switch 2', which has been the subject of rumours for years at this stage, and the fact that Nintendo had a Direct presentation planned for June was hardly a surprise — looking back at past dates, it's had a big summer presentation most years for the last decade. Still, a heads-up a month early was unexpected.
So, we know it's coming sometime in the next 20 days, and with the excitement of Summer Game Fest and both Sony and Microsoft's big shows out of the way, it's time to turn our attention to Le Grand N (as they say in Marseille). The announcement could well drop the moment this article goes live, but regardless of when it's coming, it's time to throw around some ideas, hopes, and dreams for what we'd like to see in Nintendo's June Direct...
Rhythm Heaven, Spin-offs, and Surprises (Gavin Lane, editor)

I say it every round, but now's the time for Rhythm Heaven to make a comeback. We've had two WarioWares on Switch now, and I'd love to see feel some subtle HD rumble enhancement brought to the series. A straight port of Megamix would suffice if all the big guns are aimed at new hardware, just give Rhythm Heaven some love, Nintendo.
Beyond that, I'd be pretty easy to please at this stage. Given the point in Switch's lifecycle that we're at, my expectations are very low for new mainline entries in big series. I'm happy to wait until 'Switch 2' for a new Wave Race. Some new Kirby spin-off, perhaps. A Wario Land? We haven't heard from Yoshi in a while. That's where my head is at. They could be great games, but nothing to set my pulse truly racing.
BUT, Nintendo does have form when it comes to fantastic late-cycle releases for its systems (keep an eye out for an article on that topic in the near future), so I'm still hoping to be surprised, low expectations and all.
Ports and Remasters Galore (Ollie Reynolds, staff writer)

Since Nintendo has acknowledged the Switch successor, I'd be very surprised to see anything major announced beyond a handful of ports and remasters. I suspect the firm has been sitting on a bunch of completed projects for moments such as this, so I reckon we'll finally see the likes of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (maybe Corruption, too), The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, and of course, the one everybody has been clamouring for, Donkey Konga (jokes... it'll be a Donkey Konga Trilogy).
Looking at third parties, it really wouldn't be a Nintendo Direct if we didn't at least mention Silksong, would it? The timing of the recent Hollow Knight promotion on Nintendo Switch Online is certainly sus, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Aside from that, I'd just like a few nice surprises. A new Mega Man would be lovely, and I wouldn't say no to a Viewtiful Joe remaster, either. Oh, and let's get Symphony of the Night on Switch, for goodness' sake.
All in all, I'm expecting it to be pretty light on megaton announcements, but there will be enough here to keep us satiated until the new console reveal.
Ol' Faithfuls and Indie Gems (Jim Norman, staff writer)

I have to agree with Ollie here, I can't see Nintendo dropping anything too massive this month. But that's not to say that the announcements won't bring me to my feet in applause. It seems like a good time to roll out some ol' faithfuls. Give us a way to play Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Switch. Drop the announcement of a 2D Zelda remake — the Oracle games in the Link's Awakening style would be my bet — or port A Link Between Worlds. Pepper in a handful of new NSO announcements and you're onto a winner.
Also, are we all forgetting that it's an Olympic year? An appearance from Mario and Sonic feels like the lowest-hanging fruit out there.
But with so many safe bets, let's share some indie love, too. I'm not brave enough to mention Team Cherry's game-which-must-not-be-named, so show me some more Mina The Hollower. Give me a Plucky Squire release date or news about the Sea of Stars DLC. There's surely some new Dave The Diver and/or Vampire Survivors DLC in the pipeline. Just steer away from 'puzzle game but it has a cat in it' and I'll be happy.
Apples, Bananas, and... Dragons? (Alana Hagues, deputy editor)

*too busy playing games with Zion and Geoff and LA folks at Summer Game Fest*
Okay, okay, I'm back from Summer Game Fest — do I need more video games? Probably not. But here we are. Like Gavin, I'm ready to be surprised; essentially, I need more Switch stuff, particularly first-party games.
Let's play into a rumour for a quick moment. Fantasian on Switch? I think it's time Mistwalker's Apple Arcade title made the jump to consoles, and given that it's already on a portable platform, the Direct is the perfect place to announce this port. A recent Dragon Quest teaser also has me thinking about that, too.
A little more out there, I'm praying to see a new 3D Donkey Kong game. This is another one that's been doing the rounds for years. And we're almost at the end of the Switch's lifecycle. We really need a new entry for the king of Kongs, and it'll be a fun way to round out the Switch's library.
Those are our hopes, but what about you? What would you be excited to see in the upcoming Nintendo Direct? Let us know down below...

If we get Silksong, Mina the Hollower, and the Plucky Squire, it’s a 10/10 showcase regardless of anything else. I’d preorder all three as the Direct happens.
I'm hoping for news of a localised release of Otogi Katsugeki Mameda no Bakeru: Oracle Saitarou no Sainan!!
There was a fan translation made, but it received a cease and desist from Good-Feel.
It's a sincerely good and charming game that I'm keen to see venture outside of Japan.
A Wii U title, a B-tier IP, a Kirby.
A new Mario and Luigi game
Nothing major, at that point they most likely save the big stuff for Switch 2
Hope we finally get ports of TWW HD and/or TP HD
At this point just give me either Twilight Princess or Wind Waker and I'll shut up for the entirety of this year.
Olympic games
Silly as it may sound, my most desired game since the Switch came out is Wind Waker HD. Please make it happen Nintendo, send us off on a high note.
Give me Kirby, New Leaf HD, Luigi’s Mansion 1 HD, Pikmin 4 DLC, or Mario Wonder DLC and I’ll be happy. Literally just one of these things and I’ll be satisfied with the Direct.
Considering Nintendo essentially has half a year to fill, I think this’ll be a pretty good Direct.
To be honest, I am not expecting a whole lot, especially with the likelihood of their next console releasing next Spring.
I want:
Better not let us down Nintendo
I went into this year expecting mostly just filler titles so not getting my hopes up for any particularly interesting reveals in this Direct. This year is mostly just a chance to get through as much of the backlog as possible before the next console comes out.
@RupeeClock ey, nice mention.
Spiritual succesr to Goemon is welcome in my book.
As always I just want release dates. As long as I can plan my budget, I am good.
My hopes (of varying highness):
New DK
Metroid Prime 4
Something from Starfox
Pokémon Red/Blue on NSO
It has to be metroid, hasnt it? New console and we dtill dont have it
I'll take a Zelda game in any form except a spin off. Starfox or DK would be too much to ask at this point
Obligatory Metroid Prime 4 prediction which, like always, ends with disappointment.
I've kind of decided to not buy anymore games for the Switch while I wait for Switch 2, however, if they have figured out a way to remake Xenoblade X I'm preordering ASAP.
What id like to see and what I end up seeing usually turn out to be two very different things so I'm trying to keep my expectations fairly low.
That way I won't end up too disappointed, then if by chance there is some stuff I "wanted" to see it's a nice bonus
If there's one thing I'd really really like to see though it's Diddy Kong Racing released for NSO
I'm expecting it to be heavy on ports, indies, and remakes/remasters. Kirby usually has something towards the end of a hardware generation, right? I'm always down for more of that. I'm hoping they toss some GBA games out there, like Kirby Nightmare in Dream Land and the DKC ports.
Did anyone else see the article image and think they finally announced a day/time for the Direct?
The countdown ends to start the Direct. The first trailer begins. A world appears. Fade to what that world looks like. A pan across to a landing zone, where a familiar ship rests. "The greatest intergalactic bounty hunter faces a new adventure" appears on screen. An underwater view is given, one that looks manmade. It sweeps along the floor, through the water, revealing a mansion. It turns to face a deckchair by the pool. The camera stays still, but a figure climbs from the pool to take a seat in the deckchair. Grabbing a magazine from the side table, Samus opens it. The camera zooms in on the cover, which has the Metroid Prime 4 logo and a date. The proper gameplay then begins.
@Tyranexx totally and utterly did, damn you NL!
This is the one. I really feel this is the Direct where we finally get The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD announcement we’ve been waiting forever for. I can feel it in my bones!
I also wouldn’t say no to Yoshi’s Woolly World or even a third release of Kirby’s Epic Yarn. In fact, scratch that, give us Kirby Planet Robobot on Switch and I’ll be super happy! Oh and I’d love a new Pullblox/Pushmo title, too.
My expectations were pretty low at first, but now I believe it won’t just be filler. There’ll be a good surprise or two. I expect we’ll see some Metroid, whether it’s Prime 2 Remastered or Prime 4. We’re due for another Mario Party. Some NSO game announcements would be nice. We need to see this year’s Kirby game, which could be another remaster like of Triple Deluxe or Planet Robobot, but I’m expecting a spin-off. Would Nintendo further tease Splatoon 3’s Final Fest despite already announcing Summer Nights?
I would like to say Donkey Kong and a Kid Icarus Uprising remaster, but I wouldn’t call them expectations…
@Tyranexx No, because I knew at this point there wouldn’t be an announcement today. Now I’m expecting the Direct next Tuesday or Wednesday!
@jedgamesguy That Xenoblade X port is long overdue already, so I think they’re saving it for S2
@Ryu_Niiyama I always value your comments, because honestly, yeah, I’m probably going to buy most or all of the first party titles - just need to know how much I need to budget month by month haha
Considering that the Switch is still selling well, over seven years into its life, is amazing! At this point, I honestly would like to see smaller games and ports. Save the big stuff for the next console!
I would love to see a rerelease of the Monkey Island games, though I’m not banking on it.
Now that SNK will soon have 2 Fatal Fury characters in Street Fighter 6, can we please have some SNK vs. Capcom (and vice versa) games on Arcade Archives?
I'm still not convinced that we'll see cross-gen games at least by Nintendo since this isn't a situation à la moving from Wii U to Switch so I'd say there's a chance we'll see Metroid Prime 4 and if we don't see it then it being cross-gen would make sense to me as the reason for its absence (really doubt it will be exclusively for Switch 2 since it has been announced for Switch).
I feel that Silksong has an actual chance this time, we could see NSO announcements also considering the "stability" update and there will be undoubtedly more ports/remasters/remakes although I'm not sure which ones (would love to finally see Wind Waker HD and/or Galaxy 2).
That said, as always I'll actually just let Nintendo surprise me!
Based on the comments so far, I think i might be the only one who DOESN'T want Zelda WW and TP...I want them on Switch 2, I want them to remaster them like they remastered Metroid Prime only 10x better and optimised for the new hardware...
For this direct, I want Metroid Prime 2 and 3, something F-ZERO related and Luigi's Mansion 1 HD being announced...
In terms of semi-realistic announcements I mostly just want Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Ace Attorney. Have some more out there stuff I'd be up for but those are the things I mainly thing actually have a chance of happening.
Also kind of hoping for a Fire Emblem game that isn't Genealogy of the Holy War but that feels like a foregone conclusion at this point.
I reckon it's going to be a third party fest with the odd Nintendo game lifting it above a partner showcase. So...
Silksong (yep, they'll want to how this to over 140M people!)
Madden
Beyond Good and Evil
Hi Fi Rush
Chronicles of Riddick
Vanquish
and then Nintendo stuff...
Metroid Prime stuff
Zelda stuff
Mario stuff.
oh and WaLuigi breaks into Smash Bros without an invite.
Hoping for an update on when the Switch version of One Piece Odyssey is going to be released or any Dragon Quest news. Would like to see some exciting games coming to Switch online on the GBA or SNES too.
I can spoil the entire thing, but I won't.
I thought the leak was a fake when I was reading it, but an article here today confirmed it was real.
@BookhouseBoy Same! Just a small suggestion to NintendoLife to maybe find a different header image next time, like maybe use images of characters from franchises you are predicting will show up or something. No big deal, though.
Viewtiful Joe gets a shout-out here, and while it never struck me as a possibility for a rerelease on Switch, I'd kill for a collection of those two games...
Always best to go in with low expectations - there hasn’t been anything amazing from Nintendo since TOTK. Some good remakes and ports but nothing groundbreaking. They’re probably saving the big stuff for the next console
@Notsoavid haha aww thank you! I am a simple gamer; I just need the time to plan out my purchases for the year. There is always something coming out that I am interested in, so disappointment/unrealistic hype is rare for me (unless a game I wanted turned out badly). At the end of the day these companies are giving us new worlds, to explore. To me that is always exciting.
I expect nothing. I roll with whatever comes.
@Tyranexx
18th of June
Time: unknown
I’ve been begging for it all generation, but please… The Disney Afternoon Collection!
Goeman 64 for nso!
@BookhouseBoy SAME. I thought that too!!!
@Frobodobo what was Metroid Dread then?
@MasterGraveheart Right! The Switch catalog seems incomplete without the Disney Afternoon Collection.
I would want the collection first, but they could also port over the DuckTales HD remake on Wii U.
@jedgamesguy such realistic expectations. I salute you.
Also OOT already has a remake on the 3DS. If they bring OOT to Switch, they’ll bring the 3DS version rather than making another remake.
Bare bones and not much. Keeping expectations low and not even considering Silksong for the first time ever!
honestly just give me a new Dr. Mario with online play and I'm good, like I'm not even joking
Hopefully either Wind Waker & Twilight Princess Remaster/Remakes or Switch 2 announcement, or else I don't think I personally will care as much - as I doubt they will announce any proper new games for Switch 1.
I have been expecting a Luigi's Mansion 1 shadow drop in this direct (like Pikmin) since 2 was announced, so maybe. There is a Xenoblade X rumour floating round it seems. I would like Nier Replicant and Etetnights is supposed to be coming to Switch. Not much else at this point beyond my hopes for Pandora's Tower to get some love and some other ports that or something.
I'm not expecting anything really. Probably just ports mainly.
I hope Nintendo still has at least one or 2 cool surprises in store for the Holiday to send the Switch off. But to be honest I just expect even more ports and remakes, but we'll see.
As for Silksong: It takes soooo long now, we should get it off our radar for now (we'll see it someday, hopefully). However, maybe a release-date for Nine Sols, wich may be a bit of a Hollowknight killer (I heard its really good).
I think something Zelda will show up.
@BookhouseBoy thats how they getchya...
Sonic x Shadow Generations Switch gameplay
COD Mobile for switch
Xenoblade X Port
Metroid Prime 2 - Shadow Dropped
I dont feel like Zelda will be coming in any form.
Maybe Warriors with Nintendo IP, maybe Xenoblade.
Some random games like Rhythm Heaven
Really cant see anything else.
A proper release of Super Mario Sunshine or Galaxy/Galaxy 2 on Switch and Donkey Kong 64 on NSO; that's all I need.
I wish they would just name a date, even if it's two weeks away. Hate that we're being kept guessing even though we know it's this month. In a way that's even worse than not even knowing it's coming. Fully expect them to schedule during England playing on Sunday night to be quite honest.
Probably nothing exceptional till next year. A 2D Zelda would be great but I'm not holding my breath.
I am not expecting much, since we already know this is Switch's last holiday season (and therefore the bigger teams are working for It). We can get Pushmo, Rhythm Heaven, Dr Mario, and some remaster (been waiting for Star Fox Zero and Wave Race in glorious HD for years). Let's just hope the hype for Switch 2 doesn't kill these games out of the gate. And yes, I am expecting Metroid Prime 4 to be cross-generation and be unvieled alongside the new console.
@anoyonmus they announced prime 4 on switch in 2017!
Xenoblade X plus Future Redeemed physical release please to keep me busy over winter.
Mother 3, if that’s all they announce I would be happy.
I'm not expecting too much, but on my wish list...
HD Ocarina of Time. It's time!
Final Fantasy Tactics port.
Wave Race or F-Zero sequel.
Silksong.
And if I'm really REALLY lucky? Mario Odyssey 2.
I was just thinking how much I would love VIEWTIFUL JOE and KILLER 7 on Switch. Just give me those, XENOBLADE CHRONICLES X HD, and F-ZERO X HD. Pretty please....
I’d LOVE rhythm heaven on switch
I foresee at least 3 noteworthy Nintendo game announcements but mainly ports or remakes.
The Wii U Zelda remasters seem like a no brainer but aggravatingly, they will be sold separately at full price.
We’ve had successful remakes from 2 Mario RPG sub-series. Maybe Mario and Luigi is on the cards?
Anything truly new and exceptional from Ninty is probably being developed for the next console.
More Professor Layton is all I ask.
"In a rather unusual move for Nintendo, company president Shuntaro Furukawa himself took to Twitter"
(note: quotation of a certain other article of this site directly below this note)
"Nintendo has announced it's discontinuing support for the social media platform 'X' (formerly known as Twitter)." - https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2024/05/nintendo-discontinuing-x-integration-on-switch-next-month
I've learned to go into them with no expectations.
What I wish for:
Tomodachi Life 2
Animal Crossing New Leaf Deluxe
Style Savvy 4 Styling Star HD
Dr Mario/Tetris Attack, Switch Version
What I will get: Zelda, Metroid, etc type games/DLC
Sigh 😔
Some more obscure/lesser known ports or anything with Mega Man and I’m happy.
@Spider-Kev I think it'll be in the next week or two. Going by past June Directs of course. I just hope it isn't while I'm on vacation, which is most of the last week of this month.
Still hoping for Ogre Battle remakes.
Probably more ports and remasters. So I don’t expect much.
I would LOVE a compilation of the Castlevania DS games
Furukawa-san promises us Super Switch news within the next 9 months, so this likely may be the last of the pure Switch Directs. But if the successor console is backwards compatible, we could still get some decent hit releases announced for the Switch twilight. They have to release SOME kind of biggish title to sell during the Holidays, right? And hopefully we'll get some cool niche stuff.
I guess we'll find out what projects/ports they've been saving for a rainy day! Seems like this week is out, so let's tune in next week.
FFS Nintendo, announce the date already... 👀 👀 😰
I'm expecting Metroid Prime 2 Remastered and maybe 3 too.
One or both HD Zelda ports will make their way over from the Wii U.
A new Kirby game is usually a lock for late in a Nintendo's system life.
And a new Mario Party makes too much sense to sell a few million before the Switch sunsets.
We are at the end of the Switch's lifecycle and I want PORTS!!!
Absolutely nothing to expect at this point. Until the new switch is announced.
All I want is a new entry/port of Nintendo land (I know it’s not happening) or a port of Yoshi’s woolly world. That’s all I care about.
The direct is going to be 45 minutes of the Wii music drumming guy from E3 many years ago!!
Let's go!!
Also would like to see tomadachi life in any way but I doubt it
Now that The Thousand-Year Door is released, have us get Super Paper Mario on the Switch, and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Can't think of any others besides those. Please, Nintendo?
There's a lot that's kind of on the table, but not much that's truly a given. Dragon Quest HD-2D Remake, Fantasian, and the Among Us update shadowdropping appear to be locks based on leaks. There's been potential evidence for Hi-Fi Rush (a PEGI Switch rating), a new Mario and Sonic (job listings a while back), and Mameda no Bakeru (Good-Feel taking down a fan translation). The Beyond Good and Evil remaster still hasn't been formally revealed. The Plucky Squire was weirdly absent from Devolver's showcase when they're still adamant about a 2024 release date, and I believe they announced Sumerian Six at the PC Gaming Show a few days later too - not to mention the lead developer on that project is ex-Game Freak, and there's enough hype for a Direct showing. Silksong could maybe finally materialize. And then on the first-party end, there are all sorts of things that may materialize. A Splatoon 3 Final Fest announcement seems likely. There were potential teases for Pikmin 4 DLC a while back. NSO stuff could appear. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD may finally materialize. There's been talk of Metroid Prime 2 and 3 getting remastered in the leadup to Prime 4, which may also finally be shown. The Fire Emblem 4 remake may show up. We might finally see the long-rumored DK. There's been talk tied to F-Zero GX and Kid Icarus Uprising. A new Mario Party may be on the way. We could see Pokemon Legends Z-A gameplay. There have even been small signs that Star Fox, Wario Land, and Pushmo are returning. We definitely won't see all of that, but there's a lot of solid stuff to speculate over.
Ooh! Click bait article! Grr!
Anyhow, I fully expect lots of remakes plus new versions of the cheap and easy* games to make.
Obvious choices for the cheap and easy to make games (I expect at least one of these for definite, and it’ll be their Xmas title).
Mario Party,
Warioware
2d Mario
2.5D yoshi/kirby
Mario sports thing (soccer/tennis/olympics/etc)
Arms 2?
Perhaps a big title which is a crossover switch/switch 2 game. (Like Zelda was way back when).
@somnambulance Yacht Club games has their summer presentation this Friday 14th of June, so Mina the Hollower will almost for sure be there!
My main guess is Silksong will be THE game that highlights the Nintendo Direct. I'll go as far as to say that it'll be the show opener. There's more smoke than ever before, and Hollow Knight did first release on Switch in the 2018 June Direct before it came to other consoles.
@Axecon This is… ahem… directly what I’m hoping for in terms of announcements. I’d honestly be happier to see Mina announced at the Yacht Club Showcase. As much as I love Shovel Knight, it’s time for new games from them.
I figure Plucky Squire HAS to be saved for a Direct. It wasn’t even brought up in that meager Devolver Showcase, just a few weeks after the developer said the game is indeed on track for 2024. I would say that Plucky Squire is perhaps behind only Silksong for being the highest profile indie on the docket currently. Those two in particular were the strangest of titles to be absent from not-E3 E3 thus far. I hope the rumors are true and we’re exactly a week away from a Direct.
I WANT PORTS! Really that's all I'm interested in.
This is already way buried but I'm hoping to see some Pokemon Z-A or some additional totk content. I don't really need any new games until switch 2 comes out honestly 😅
@PinderSchloss
just played through Xenoblade X for the first time after buying a Wii U again in April. I actually am not in a hurry to replay it. Bought all the other Xenoblade Chronicles afterwards and I am almost done with XB 1 Definitive Edition's expansion "Future connected" - how XB Chronicles evaded me all this time is beyond me
I would love to see a Kid Icarus Uprising remaster. Even with the stand that came with the game, it's still uncomfortable for me to play on the 3DS and it would make a great shooter for the Switch
@Franc001 too much zelda as of late, need to show their other characters some love. Kid Icarus would be nice.
I hope we get some Zelda or Animal Crossing! I will be very mad if I see any mention of Splatoon or more Mario stuff, although I know for a fact both will be there for a good chunk of the Direct
I'm going into this Direct with a very open mindset so I really don't have any real hopes/expectations whatsoever besides maybe a new Ace Attorney game (its gotta happen at some point please Capcom).
Other than that though, it feels like the first time in a long time where we have absolutely no clue what's coming up and honestly?
That's pretty damn exciting.
@anoyonmus thats not a remake
Blackjack and hookers
@Fizza they’ll probably give us the 2 Investigations games first before a new Ace Attorney game.
Another Nintendogs would be awesome : DDD
My predictions:
-third party indie games.
-DLC
-a surprise port or two
Guys, Nintendo is not going to release another huge game, and they’d be foolish if they did. They’ve done an awesome job of maintaining the quality of their output, over seven years! I want them to maintain that same quality throughout the life of the next console.
Keep in mind, when they said "direct", they could have meant any kind of direct, including shudders a partner showcase. HOWEVER, if we do get a regular direct... honestly I don't care I just got Vampire Survivors I think I'm set for the rest of my life.
I swear, if they announce a 3rd WarioWare for the Switch, I'm going to punch someone.
not really, lol
Anything that’s a port/remake will make me happy! Idk why but I’m just really more open minded than normal.
Not expecting a whole lot since I'm expecting the Switch 2 to be out in less than a year. I'd be happy to see a remake of FE: Genealogy of the Holy War(which has been rumored) and Metroid Prime 2 and 3.
Xenoblade X copium.
I still want Disney Afternoon Collection on Switch... maybe with more games added.
@YourDaddy
For real. And where is the Lollipop Chainsaw remake???
I don't really expect much apart from some HD remasters whilst Studios work on Switch 2 titles. Maybe Xenoblade Chronicles X or since Monolith are giving older titles the HD treatment (Baten Kaitos) maybe they can bring over the Xenosaga series to the Switch.
Rhythm Heaven would be really nice. Not that I'm in need of more games. Rhythm Heaven Fever on Wii was a blast, and the music was infectious.
Donkey Konga I sleep, Jungle Beat I eat. Game is so underrated as i think most people missed the incredible amount of depth and replayability when trying for high scores
I'd like a Twilight Princess port, Metroid Prime 2 would also be good to follow up the great Switch version of the first one.
@NintendoPete Wish I could erase my memory and replay these Enjoy!
ARMS 2!
ARMS 2!
I want more cartoonish boxing games on Switch.
Oh word? This is gonna be epic. Hope switch 2 maintains switch 1’s affordability.
I will be massively disappointed if Windwaker HD or Twilight HD or Metroid Prime 2 HD doesn't get ported switch. Having all 3 would be ideal but I'd settle for at least 1.
Honestly, I’d just like to see them address emulation competition by releasing more virtual console-style games. The GB/GBA Pokémon games would be nice, but I refuse to go into any upcoming presentations with anything specific in mind. Low expectations make it hard to be disappointed.
It tough to think what I even want from Switch at this point. We've gotten basically everything, to varying degrees of results.
A beautiful looking 3D Donkey Kong game would be the biggest announcement for me.
I would be pretty happy with a new Rhythm Heaven but I'm not expecting anything too big since we are near the end of the Switch era. How about a physical release of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 remix and the other collections? The cloud versions are not it
An Among Us update trailer leak suggests the direct is next week on the 18th.
https://metro.co.uk/2024/06/11/nintendo-direct-release-date-may-revealed-among-us-teaser-21013743/
@jedgamesguy this is it, this is the definitive list
Honestly this would be the perfect time to finally reveal Metroid Prime 4
Star Fox Adventures HD actually would be a great surprise port, as well as any Star Fox port, like StarFox Assault with online multiplayer.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 would be a great last-minute port, perhaps with a Bowser's Fury kind of expansion added on to warrant a $60 MSRP. Would love any kind of expansion content added to Galaxy 2!
Outlandish hopes and dreams would be Super KIRBY Galaxy, Pokemon Red/Blue NSO, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, KH Chain of Memories NSO, FFTactics Advance NSO, will edit list later for more dreams!
If the singer/producer is better now I'd love a new Rhythm Heaven, even if he overseeing it and doesn't sing but others can. I don't need singing just some good minigames in Rhythm Heaven with some good produced music to offer alongside them. I bought Fever/Megamix while I had the chance.
Prime 4 hopefully. Anything else eh nothing much. Maybe some other niche Nintendo IPs.
A WAY out here prediction… the original Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link remakes.
@Spider-Kev without giving any specifics, what would you rank it out of 10?
I know everyone and their respective mothers want a Xenoblade X port, and that’s fine. I would take it (though I already have the Wii U version, so unless it’s optimized really well and/or plays so well without the gamepad hub/map, I’m fine without yet another Switch port).
However, much more importantly, after the hotness that was Future Redeemed, it is unthinkable for every Xeno fan to not constantly be demanding a Xenosaga Remastered Trilogy for Switch at this point.
I will say I am surprised a date hasn’t been announced for the direct yet. I know E3 is dead but most companies are still using this week as conference week.
Anything Xenoblade, Metroid or Fire Emblem. Not asking for a lot here. It would also be nice to have some old GB/GBA Pokémon games in NSO, but that might be asking too much.
They will announce that they changed the sign at NoA headquarters. Then they will announce that Doug Bowser’s body is ready and that switch 2 releases tomorrow.
@epicgamner
If the entire thing is legit...
There's only like two games I'm interested in
@Spider-Kev you know what the fact that theres anything good at all is good enough for me
Was remembering Dino Crisis recently.....
I would like anotherArcade Stadium with their more recent coin ops. Seems like the arcade games post '95 rarely get much notice. And that includes from me, so I would like to see more
Zelda Ocarina remake, F Zero GX remake, Star Fox Zero remaster, Soul Calibur2 remaster, Eternal Darkness remake, Metroid Prime 2/3, Zelda WW&TP, Metal Gear Snake Eater remaster, Xenoblade X, Viewtiful Joe remaster, new Sin and Punishment and Pokémon Gold remake!
Every time I hope for a Skies of Arcadia remake and sequel, always disappointed.
Maybe a nice surprise return for Billy Hatcher.
Wind waker HD wind waker HD wind waker HD
Also: Silksong please
Both Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD are long overdue.
I think it's time for a new Hyrule Warriors, I know I'm ready. And Platinum should definitely celebrate Bayonetta's 15 years anniversary somehow, come on now!!
Anything else is bonus XD
WW HD, TP HD, Metroid Prime 2, Metroid Prime 3
I read a while back supposedly Nintendo have a Zelda: Twilight Princess port ŕeady to go so i expect that.
I think it will be interesting to see exactly what they pull out if this is going to be the final year of the Switch. I doubt there's going to be anything too big. Like others i expect ports. Luigi's Mansion 1, Metroid Prime 2 and 3 and maybe proper releases for Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. But then maybe there could something left field like another Bayonetta Origins or a remake of something. I've always held out hope that Sega can sort the publishing rights and release a Sonic Advance collection.
Maybe we will finally get ports of the last 2 big Wii U titles that haven't been ported yet. I'm of course talking about the classics Sonic Lost World and Sonic Boom.
Unless Metroid Prime 4 is announced for a release this year, the Direct will be an automatic fail for me.
One rumour not mentioned relates to F-Zero. While a remake of X would satiate my wildest hallucinations, GX supposedly will appear and be called F-Zero GX Recharged. Understandable as it would be a fairly simple transition; it's just that so many of the tracks suck! It's not a great game.
@NinChocolate I honestly think you nailed it! 😂
The Legend of Zelda A Link Between Consoles
A 2D Zelda you playthrough on the switch then replay on the switch 2. Time has passed on the same map different enemies and weapons. New areas to explore and updated visuals.
I would love it if Nintendo could give us some entries in some of their non AAA-tier or some more neglected IPs before we move on to whatever is after the Switch... such as a new:
... I'd also settle for a Clubhouse 102 Worldwide Game (with more & deeper Card/Strategy games, rule variations and match customization/randomization).
Oh wait we’re talking about what we actually expect?
… if I had to guess probably just some ‘meh’ or whelming Remaster/Port selections and/or unwanted paid DLC’s (like with Endless Ocean for example)
Wario shake it, needs a HD treatment.
@wuntyme8 Miyamoto San is still butt hurt that we didn't like Star Fox zero...
Starfox zero had so much potential, I really tried to like it, but the control scheme and some other issues were just too much to bear. 😫
so the so called nintendo leaker female midori turns out to be some white dude you cant make this up..
A couple of gamecube ports would rock - I'd like f zero gx and the star wars rogue squadron games
@YourDaddy
Capcom needs to get off their butts and announce KILLER 7!!!
I got a WiiU super cheap back in 2019 when my local shop just wanted them gone. I picked up Windwaker right away, but this week I finally broke down and got Twilight Princess. So they’ll probably announce those, lol. Time to offload my excess switch games on eBay before switch 2 gets announced. This is probably the best window for that.
I'm not expecting much, the successor is on it way next year.
Predictions
Opening segment: Xenoblade Chronicles X port releasing September
Headlines: Kirby eshop title releasing July and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD
Segment: new Mario Party game releasing November
Headlines: Yoshi’s Woolly World: Reknit releasing October, Wind Waker HD releasing August
Segment: F-Zero GX remastered releasing November
Headlines: NES World Championship game, Metroid Prime 2&3 available after presentation
One last thing: teaser for Metroid Prime 4,
With 2025 release date
I think a lot of people will be disappointed with this show, but I think it will be pretty good. I heard not many people liked the September 2023 one and I thought it was the best one in a while so who knows 🤷♂️
Granny Switch has had more ports than a Portuguese vineyard, but I'd still be happy to see a surprise remaster of a fondly-remembered niche game like Star Fox Assault, LOZ: Four Swords Adventures, Wii Punch-Out! or Kid Icarus: Uprising...
... just something fun to keep the fans engaged during the Switch's twilight, but maybe not major enough to be a headline game for Switch Deux.
I hate to say it but... I think we're going to see a bunch of stuff we already saw at Summer Games Fest. 3rd party titles for Switch. Like Lego Horizon.
There will be no mention of the switch 2 in this direct. It was not said, A switch 2.
There will be another Direct within a week, with info about the new console, the cost and pre-order and release details.
Nintendo did this before.
Think I say it every time but maybe it’s ‘finally’ time for Final Fantasy Tactics!!!!
Well, June has Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, July has NES Remix, that leaves August to December to fill. We need a few ports/remasters and some solid third party offerings to keep the ball rolling to close out 2024.
Hopefully Nintendo delivers. 😄
First party stuff:
A Kirby game
New Mario Party
New NSO additions (TurboGrafx16/ PC Engine)
Nintendo Switch Classics Series (price drops and repackaging for your Mario Kart’s, Zelda, etc. Set for holiday, no price drop in console)
Third party:
Dragon Quest III HD2D
Suikoden I&II Remasters (hopefully)
Stuff we won’t see:
Metroid (Prime 4 next year)
Zelda (WW, TP. They don’t exist and that double pack is a not realistic)
Silksong (Just no. Not happening here)
I know I’ll be excited about SOMETHING tomorrow. Just looking forward to the dopamine hit.
BLASPHEMOUS 2 DLC!!!!!
@jedgamesguy Great list, but it's missing Fire Emblem!
Seems like @AlanaHagues got the most correct... Fantasia (yes), Dragon Quest (yes), and new 3D Donkey Kong (kind of!)
@JJtheTexan I'll take it! I never guess anything right
