More fool anyone who actually buys it. Even if you're able to use it, you're funding a scalper who paid nothing to begin with. But also, I can't see how they can prevent anyone else using your ticket. Definitely not a foolproof system. You need a Nintendo account to get a ticket, but there's no actual way to prove that account that of the person attending. Unless they do name checks against a form of photographic ID, which seems unlikely.
As much as I would love to go and try out the console early, I wouldn't pay anywhere near that much to do it. It's not exactly a completely unique console experience, it'll largely be the same as the first Switch for the most part. The only really exciting thing would be playing the new games.
Nope. Just wondering how many tickets they had available tbh. In the UK, 3 timeslots per day, albeit overlapping with each other. It’s a huge place, that ExCeL centre. Obviously don’t know how much space they’ve rented out, but they can get a sizeable attendance there. And yet it seems as if like 5% of all applicants got tickets. Would love to know how many tickets were available for each timeslot and how many they’re allowing in at once with the overlapping times.
No mention of how automated Luigi is, which is a real disappointment. Find it strange you complain about the "random encounters" which are not actually random encounters since you can see the enemies on the map. It's a staple of the series and RPGs, you have to fight to level up. If that annoys anyone, they're playing the wrong genre.
It definitely made the reveal less exciting. But what it did do was prepare us for the fact there isn't anything revolutionary or innovative this time around. We've had months to let that reality sink in. Whereas if we had been hyped about this super secretive new console, expecting something really wild and excitedly trying to guess how they could go a step beyond the Switch, we would've been pretty bummed with this reveal. "Is that it?!" So it's both good and bad.
Annoying the leaks showed us pretty much everything. Wish there was something that expanded upon the design like dual screen play, but I guess a better more powerful version of the best selling console since PS2 isn't a bad thing. Name is a bit boring, but understandable to avoid the Wii U confusion. Just wish they would at least have done something more interesting with the logo. Even PlayStation change to logo entirely every generation so it feels distinct.
Wish it wasn't just an teaser and announcing a direct THREE MONTHS AWAY. We've waited so long, they really should've come out with the full showcase either today or in a weeks time, even if the release date is to be further away than we want it to be.
Here we go, more moaning about the track textures not being as sharp as they could be like with all the DLC tracks 😂
I really hope that DK design is just an optional skin and you can still play as the original design. Because why only him and not Mario and Luigi? Either have all or none available. Movie designs should stay in the movie and video game designs in the games imo
Do these guys ever post analysis and find something is flawless? Genuine question. They're obviously looking for flaws, that's their whole gig. They find something wrong with every game I swear.
Nintendo have just lost complete control of this whole thing. They've handed it so badly. 3rd party accessory companies revealing what the console looks like before them. Whoever is in charge of keeping this stuff getting out should be fired, frankly. Surely these companies had to sign NDAs to not disclose anything about the console until they're allowed? And now we're hearing a French journalist saying the release date is April. They may as well let someone else announce the launch games too. Don't even bother with an official trailer, it's all out in the open now anyway.
There will actually be nothing left to reveal at this rate. Nintendo are just gonna shadow drop a trailer with some games and a release date and be like "happy now? Ya bloody vultures"
Not sure why MK64 is there, which has aged horribly, but OOT doesn't make it. If we're factoring in how groundbreaking there games were. Can't be that Zelda can only be represented once on the list, ALTTP is there too
I think it's obvious the "two Robotnik's" story was just for this movie, taking inspiration from SA2. Good to hear he's gonna be back for more, let's just hope it doesn't cost them $100,000 in gold ink this time.
Really random appearance to reference with this. I don't think I even got far enough to see him in Sonic 4, I gave up on that nonsense after a few levels.
They needed to be doing this on Switch 1. Absolutely shocked we never ever had a joy-con with a D-Pad, or at least ones which replicate retro button layouts from past consoles. Seems like such a Nintendo thing to do, but that was the Nintendo of the past, not present. Same as we didn't get any sort of menu theme update. Simplicity seems to be the strategy now, but I hope they take a more creative outlook with Switch 2 now that they've established themselves again.
We all know they'll release something in October/November again. It's like clockwork. Rather than just work on something until it's ready, they have this bizarre ambition to release something once a year in the fall no matter if it's polished or not. As a great man once said, a delayed game is eventually good but a rushed game is bad forever.
Can't see the need for Big the Cat if I'm honest. Rouge is a must, if only to up the female character count. Never played a game with Silver in but I hear he's in demand. They're at risk of bloating the films with characters the same as the games though. How long can these films realistically go on for though? Probably safe to call it quits after 5 or 6?
@VHSGREMLIN was? It's not even finished yet seeing as the 3rd one isn't out until tomorrow, and as such you can't know how good or bad it is personally. So quick to write off a whole trilogy...
@Pigeon if you had read the article you'll have seen he's already given permission to use it in the movie, so it's nothing to do with trying to reap some of the film profits.
Btw isn't the latest W&G actually a follow up to A Matter of Loaf and Death, or even Curse of the Were-Rabbit? Making it sound as if it's been dormant for 30 years
@N8tiveT3ch a strategy that very nearly saw them withdraw from the console market. There's a reason they changed tact with Wii, and why it was a roaring success
Said it before, and I'll say it again. Different joy-con. If nothing else, one that has a D-Pad to feel more natural for 2D games. But it's a wasted opportunity to not release ones which are based on retro controllers. Give me that classic NES D-Pad and buttons with the 90 degree edge. The colourful SNES buttons, the Gamecube button layout with a yellow C-stick. And I'm surprised they never just made regular joy-con with retro designs on them the same way we had a NES/Famicom GBA SP. This is 100% something Nintendo would've done 20 years ago, but they've shied away from special edition controllers somewhat.
But of course, crazy controllers with all sorts of gimmicks and gizmos on for certain games. They could turn the console into an actual accordian or something daft like that.
It's really quite surprising no one, especially Nintendo, has made use of the fact you can detach and reattach whatever kind of controller you like to the side of the Switch. I really expected at least some retro controller attachments. I suppose it's not so easy if you want people to play on the TV not just handheld though.
Rumour has it they ditched the remaster project to come on board with getting Prime 4 done, so we only got MP1 as a result. I'm sure the others will follow, but perhaps not on Switch.
Who remembers when it was called the Stars Catalogue in Europe and every time you registered a game, they'd give you a bunch of cool downloadable extras like wallpapers, and even sometimes a printable iron-on t-shirt design?
Also, that's where I bought my DS. I believe it was £100 + 1000 stars, delivered before it came out in the shops. Amazing.
There's absolutely a way to have a screen that slides upwards to reveal a second screen underneath. Wouldn't need to be really thick with today's tech either, just look at the phones which do it. This way the console could act as a DS style dual screen handheld when on the go, or you can have a Wii U style TV and controller dual screen when at home. Having seen the apparent leaks for the new console I'm slightly disappointed they've gone with a single screen device. The big "innovation" over the current Switch really should have been a return to dual screen gaming picking up the idea that the Wii U failed to sell, but with the added advantage of the Switch back catalog being compatible and not being tied to playing it in the same room as the console, which was one of the big drawbacks the off-TV play on Wii U had.
That gif is an all time classic. Got my DS in 2005 before the European launch with the Nintendo of Europe stars catalogue. SM64DS, Metroid Prime Hunters demo and Warioware Touched demo, plus a t-shirt a whole 3 weeks before it was available in the shops.
In terms of teasing a new antagonist that leads into the next story, logic suggests Metal Sonic. But I think we'll finally get Amy as well, including some other characters like Cream, Blaze and maybe E-123
@TeiGekiLord haha, tell me why they keep putting a casino level in every game then? Feels like they're forever trying to create Casino Night instead of dreaming up new themes.
If the framerate is the only "issue" then sign me up. Never bothers me when you slate other games for their framerates, so this won't be any different.
Typical Sega, obsessed with old Sonic games because they can't get new ones right. It speaks volumes Sonic Generations is considered one of the best of recent years, when it's all rehashed levels from years gone by. Even their original games like Sonic Superstars contained levels which are heavily inspired by past ones.
Yep, that's annoyed me too. I instinctively press the same button I used to select the attack when executing and I mess it up by pressing A. It's even worse than before because it used to just be a little bonus damage. Now it's a requirement to execute the attack fully. Mess it up and you do a pitiful amount of damage.
@mariomaster96 that's because you were introduced to the series on those watered down battle mechanic games. TTYD is the purest Paper Mario in terms of it's battle system, and I'd also say the transforming abilities is more what Paper Mario should be than Colour Splash's painting puzzles and Origami King's confetti. But each to their own, this is what Paper Mario was before Nintendo started to use the series as an experiment for different gameplay styles.
Poll options are limiting. I wouldn't place it in my top 5, maybe not even top 10. Definitely not gonna deem it "mid" either, there are only a couple of "mid" Zelda games and they're both on the DS
