Really scummy company these days. Trying their best to make money off the latest console launch so they stay afloat for a bit longer. I'll put good money on this being the last Nintendo launch they get to take pre-orders for. They won't be here when Switch 3 comes around. Sad end to a once great retailer.
Really pointless stunt, but more fool them. No one will remember who the first people in line were, whereas the rest of us get 2 months in our own beds, the luxury of playing games at home and being able to just open the door to the delivery guy on launch day.
@Cathalm influencers and YouTubers. So long as they can earn ad money from just posting whatever nonsense stunt they're currently doing, they can afford to just camp outside in the cold and wet for months.
@-wc- they may well have mentioned it on here before, but I don't read every article. I've never even come across the term on social media before. As I've mentioned in numerous comments before, I'm not a techie. I just play games.
It was always going to do very well with it's target audience, which is huge. But if you've never played the game, much of it will just be lost on you. Can't wait for the Zelda movie to smash this.
Won't happen since the buttons aren't on the Joy-Con for when you play in handheld mode. And you don't even get the buttons on the standard Joy-Con Grip, which is a ludicrous way to try and sell an extra piece of plastic that should be packed in as standard.
Companies need to realise they'll sell more at a lower price. This will easily shift 30m, and at that rate they absolutely can afford to make less profit per unit because in the long run they'll make as much if not more profit than if they sold less at a higher price.
Same logic with football clubs charging a ton for a match ticket and not selling out. Cheaper tickets, more tickets get sold, just as much profit made overall vs a stadium that isn't full. Shooting themselves in the foot as always.
I think it'll be the Switch 2 feature which never gets utilised quite as much as the developers think, like the IR sensor on the Switch 1. For me personally, where I usually position myself to play on TV, I don't really have anywhere I can use a mouse. At least not with my right hand. So unless it works well rubbing on your thighs I doubt I'll use it
Gonna add my voice the the "yes, it does look a mess" crowd. Awful to put that block of text at the bottom, when it can be put on the back. It doesn't even need to state such a thing on the front. I would argue it doesn't even need to have the "Switch 2 Edition" strapline considering it has the big banner at the top, and could easily just be a much smaller caveat listed on the front somewhere. The big red banner vs the small corner square is also pretty ugly to begin with.
Really really annoyed I bought one of the yellow Nintendo SD cards a little while ago, since it was discounted. Intended to use it on Switch when my storage was full, but found I was able to still keep my current card a bit longer and it got to the point that I thought "the next console isn't far away, I'll just save it for that instead of inevitably buying new at launch"
Then they tell me it won't be compatible. So I have a rather large sized Micro SD that wasn't so cheap despite being discounted, which isn't getting used. I know I can find something to use it for, but I don't really have anything that needs such a large (micro) SD at the moment.
Errrr, just you mate. I never turn rumble off, don't see the point. Batteries are there to be drained, and can be charged up when you put the game down. So no, sorry can't relate to being surprised by how good the rumble feels on Switch 2 (when I get it)
Well the difference isn't night and day. MK8 still looks very very good. Wish they'd use the same track for comparison, if indeed there are tracks from MK8 in this. Also wish they'd put the old on the left, new on the right in these comparisons. Because that just makes more sense imo.
There's the confirmation that the game boxes are massive. Why have they made them bigger and not smaller? Didn't need to change them at all, but if they wanted to differentiate them from Switch 1 on store shelves, shorter, more square, would've been better. Not wider, and if the leak was accurate a few months back, taller as well. Dumb.
So it should. We should also get Welcome Tour as part of the subscription too. They'll probably announce that after backlash. I can see there being a price rise next year after the free online access ends though, sadly.
It's an outrageous jump in price from last gen. They made all the justifications possible for just slapping an extra tenner on the price of TOTK. This is mental. It's 90 Euros in mainland Europe. I remember the days when GBA games were £30 max and GameCube £40. Some GBA games were even £20...hell some Switch games were only £30.
This is a worrying trend, because you know all big franchise games like Mario and Zelda will cost the same. Worried to see how much the upgraded patches cost. Couple this with the fact they're charging for Welcome Tour, and the Joy-Con Grip that comes with the console doesn't include the extra buttons underneath, and images show a version WITH those buttons so it's another thing you need to pay for...it's frankly disgusting given the current state of the cost of living.
@anoyonmus wow, this is a sister site to NL? It sounds like it's written by a Twitter account, really informal moping there. Do all their articles read like they were written by a petulant teenager?
This is the biggest surprise for me. Expected we'd get a port in like 10 years the same way we're getting ports of PS3 games now. Excited to get to play it not long after it's "new" since I don't own anything other than a Switch. Hope the last part comes out on Switch 2 at the same time.
It really could've been better. Few first party games announced, left out some of the finer details about the console and conveniently left out the key detail of the console price and the outrageous cost of physical games, and no word on the paid upgrade versions. Also, I'm 99% sure we're in for a bump up in NSO subscription price, which they also conveniently didn't mention (if it happens)
There's still so much they didn't show us like what the UI looks like, whether or not sharing photos from your console to post online is easier than the convoluted system we have now, showing us the new look Joy-Con cradle. No other colour alternatives is disappointing too.
Also, Mario Kart physical being £75. 75 British Pound Sterling, what the hell is that about Nintendo???
This being paid is just really really bizarre. It's a glorified information pack and demo. The same way they should've included 1-2 Switch as a built in game. Imagine Wii Sports wasn't free with the system, would it have been anywhere near as widely played and popular? Not at all. This should at the very very least be free to NSO subscribers. Shocking.
I think it’s obvious they’re announcing this now because they intend to unveil a Switch 2 model that is digital only along side one that excepts cartridges. So they can offer a cheaper model, for one. I don’t believe the fear mongers saying this means the card slot will except Switch 1 only and there won’t be physical Switch 2 games.
Really don't know what they could possibly show off that will release in the few months before Switch 2. Surely Metroid Prime 4 will be a cross-gen release so holding it for the Switch 2 Direct would make more sense?
No idea why they'd split first party and third party release windows...surely a good mixture of both is better for gamers. Roll on next week when all these rumours are done once and for all.
@Patendo British here, Bristolian in fact. So we don't pronounce words like a lot of the country. Never ever heard anyone say Chasm with the H left in. Also annoyed me he kept skipping over certain parts of words "grudo" instead of Gerudo, and "Tears o'Kingdom" instead of Tears of the Kingdom...
Really really cool, just a shame they're just big cubes and not more bespoke to match the design of the consoles. They aren't really practical to use on your every day keys if you carry them in your pocket. I'd pick Gamecube, then GBA if I could.
I think it's fairly obvious at this point we haven't seen much more of it because it's going to be the big launch title for Switch 2, with a dual release on Switch 1 too. It would be a missed opportunity to release it just on Switch 1 when it's about to be an obsolete console, and they's only end up giving it a Switch 2 release 6 months later anyway. I'll even go as far to say it will be the very first thing they open the Nintendo Direct with.
It's about time the battle system was overhauled entirely, but they won't touch it because the competitive scene relies on the tried and tested format. Which other RPG series has so rigidly kept to the same battle system with each entry? Probably only Dragon Quest.
