They could bump this back to next year and I'd be pleased (too much else out around the end of the year)
Joking (not really) aside I just hope they actually tie it into the game's story accurately this time. No rewriting events to make a better video game story.
@Hapless of course the title is dumb, this is from the Octopath, Bravely Default and Triangle Strategy team! It's practically a tradition to name things on the nose like this
I mean it's pretty obvious Mario is depicted as being bashful whenever Peach is affectionate. He'd like there to be something more but she only sees friendship
@Suketoudara lol of course I've played it. The jumping is just about ok for getting onto rails, but the charge is too slow to make any sort of snap decision to ride up the wall, especially as it can be tricky to not end up powersliding instead. I never see anyone do it. The only use I've found for the charge jump is getting boosts on long straights. And I played MK8 a few days before this game came out, and this hasn't felt any different. Maybe I'll notice the difference if I go back to MK8 now
Bit confused about when it actually opens for applications. Saying on the link to create an application from Friday, but then step 2 it says they'll start accepting applications from Monday. Then it also says we should create the application by Monday.
It plays exactly like MK8 doesn't it? Only worse because they removed the option for holding items behind you with a button and made it automatic. There's also that pretty useless charge jump...
I know nothing about either, which is a good thing. Better it's unknowns than big names people have an opinion on before even seeing any footage. And no controversial picks that cause a storm on social media for or against. I will say they look very much like they'll fit the characters. Benjamin looks as if he could be Kokiri. So who's playing Navi?
Have they been trying to revive? Didn't realise. I'll start with a tip, and I've said it multiple times on here, stop shoving Sonic games out once a year. It's entirely predictable there's a Sonic release around Oct/Nov and they always feel undercooked. Maybe give each game another year from when you think it's finished...
If that's the case so be it. I'd rather games aren't pumped out on a schedule to please impatient fans. Something the Pokemon and Sonic games desperately need to take on board.
I checked my GameChat a few days ago and, out of a dozen or so of my friends list who have a Switch 2, only 4 of them had bothered to set it up. Which means the others likely haven't so much as touched the C button yet to see what's going on. It's not a great sign. There needs to be a game that benefits from it, like Metroid Prime 4 having an online mode.
I work my way through every CC starting at 50 so I build up knowledge of the tracks at every difficulty. It's annoying this time that they've put the CC selection after the cup selection so it's harder to keep track of where you are. Also, for some bizarre reason (one of many bizarre design decisions in this game) the cup selection screen displays 3 star gold on every cup even if you've only cleared it once...who even thought that was a good idea?
I have to say the track design this time around doesn't feel memorable at all. I've only raced them all once so far, along with all of the Knockout Tour versions, so it could change when I'm more familiar. The environments are gorgeous and there are some nice references to the past that are memorable but the decision to make every track connected to the last is frankly just not it. The first part of the race still feels like the last course, then by the time you actually get to the circuit there's just one lap. No way of being able to remember a shortcut you spotted from the last lap. If you're out in first the whole way you don't get the usual scattered items from the last lap to pick up, not is there any way of planting a trap for someone to fall into on the next lap (and seriously, why no fake item boxes this time?) Too much of the in between track is just a straight line.
The connected track cups should've been part of an adventure or story mode with light RPG elements where you improve stats on your kart. Or maybe just have the cups be "7 races" with 4 circuits and then a shorter "between" race between them all where you can pick up bonus points or maybe some power ups to bank and use in the next race. What we need, and what I hope we get, is a classic mode where it's just a 3 lap race of the basic circuits. Because how they're going to add the inevitable DLC tracks from old games into this I don't know. Hopefully they aren't gonna track and make a whole new map and join them all up.
Think it should be noted these review scores are for the update, not the entire game. It's still a 10/10 game, but with a 9/10 update over the original
I needed this for my Switch 1. About 18 months ago the battery icon just stopped displaying the accurate percentage and it would turn off without any warning notification that the power was low. At first around 50% then later as high as mid 70%'s. Even after replacing the battery myself, so it was definitely a system issue. 8 years of use cooked it I guess.
The HORI 24 card case from the first Switch is still the best. I'm on my 4th case so I'll just keep filling it with those lovely red Switch 2 ones until I need another.
This will be handy for Mario Kart, because honestly having it the same side as the joystick is annoying for capturing anything whilst in play. Not like you can take your thumb off A to press it either
Had my Switch since launch in 2017, and it's still going. Not going strong mind, the battery is pretty knackered and the console switches off without warning after a couple of hours (even after I replaced the battery myself). I've got a Switch Lite which I use for travel since it's easier to pack and I don't need to use the docking feature. It accompanied me on my first trip to America. Speaking of which, my fave Switch memory happened on that trip when attending a wedding in Las Vegas. The best man had his Switch upstairs in his hotel room and before I knew it, we were playing Mario Kart on the same screen in table-top mode in the bridal suite. No other console would that be possible, but that's the magic of the Switch.
It's the first console where I haven't been able to keep up with all the releases I've wanted to play, creating an actual backlog which is something I hear gamers complain about all the time. There are several games I've eyed up and still not picked up, so I'll likely still be buying games well after Switch 2 is out. And a few I've still not gotten around to starting. I'm still very much invested in Xenoblade Chronicles X and so I'll still be playing Switch games even after Thursday. I can't remember another console where I was still playing it right up until the next one launched. That just shows the strength of the console. I feel like it still has years left it, honestly. So farewell, you little dream machine. It's been a blast.
That's all the ones that have been sold out the back door to friends/family and anyone willing to pay enough to make it worth someone risking it. This is how they end up in the wild before launch.
Wow, the price of that collectors edition seems high for what you actually get. Well I'll be getting the Switch 1 version unless there's anything really significant that the Switch 2 upgrades. No point buying a key card version if they're both gonna be the same.
(before anyone shouts at me, I did google it, it's in Belfast, but that's not the point)
None in Wales, or south west England and the Midlands, is poor. Actually, only 5 across the entire country is pretty poor but who bothers with a midnight launch these days anyway? They obviously can't justify a nationwide opening
Rarely remember to check the app, I see everything posted on here and social media anyway. So I can see why they've done it.
How does Stealth40k manage to get all his videos straight from the Directs or straight from Nintendo's twitter page to repost on his own within seconds? He must use some sort of capture software to do it. This won't stop him.
They only started naming them with a number from MK 7 on the 3DS anyway, so we only got 2 numbered entries. I guess Mario Kart Switch 2 wasn't so catchy
Does it suck though? Does it really? Because I managed to get one on day 1 when Nintendo UK put out the invites. A much better system than previous launches and rewarding players who were loyal to Switch 1. Sucks for anyone that wasn't eligible and had to fight for one at retailers I guess.
@abe_hikura exactly! Pretty much like a CD case. They probably could've redesigned the whole thing to be just like the jewel case you get CDs in, but I guess it was easier to just use the existing mould with a red dye
Nintendo are missing a trick not having one of these in Europe. Doesn't even have to be in the UK, I would fly to another city for the sole purpose of visiting (and just an excuse to be a tourist in a foreign destination) but going all the way to New York or San Fran for it isn't feasible. We haven't yet had confirmation Super Nintendo World is going to be at Universal Studios when it arrives here. We need a Nintendo Mecca to flock to in Europe. It would probably be in Germany where the HQ is tbh
Hope these are available separately. Not bothered about spending £150 on a hulking great Mario Kart I have nowhere to display but a little dinky Blue Shell would do just fine.
@Misima neither of these 3 are particularly easy compared with today's Mario Kart games. Super Circuit you had to finish in the top half or race again so it's not like you could even finish the cups if you weren't good at the game.
A heavy dose of nostalgia on those MK64 votes. It's certainly not "outstanding" by any modern metric. Aged very poorly, but was revolutionary for it's time. Super Circuit is criminally underrated. Admittedly the first one I owned and played fully, so perhaps nostalgia goggles on. But challenging and hard to master. Nice to see they've brought back the feature where you need to finish above the cut off point to continue, in MKW.
@Michael0916 leaks early in the year suggested they were both taller and wider, which seems nuts to me. They're already too big for the tiny cartridge you get, without any supplementary material inside the case either. They should be made square and a similar size to a CD case imo
Still no measurements though. Not being funny but I've got maybe 1cm spare at the top of the shelves I keep my Switch games on, so if these are taller than that I need to find something else. The rumours are they are actually bigger, it would be nice to get official confirmation.
Completely forgot this was a thing, and surprised it was still in use. Considering the rise of smartphones it's easier to just get people to download an app and not deal with keeping track of and maintaining physical units
Oh wow, we're taking aliexpress as a source? That site is renowned for being littered with cheap imitation and fake products. It really is the wild west of just sell anything that can be mass produced and sold for pennies. Nothing on there is legit. Nothing.

Well the company that makes the cards is going to start ultilising tech that can allow them to make other storage sizes, so something's changing.
