Re: Sonic Superstars' Release Date Might Have Already Been Revealed

Baker1000

Disappointing to see it's a full price game. This is going to be 12 zones, so safe to assume 3 acts each makes it up to 36 levels. About standard for a Sonic game but most platformers have upwards of 50 levels if they're asking top buck. Mario will likely have nearer to or over 100. Sega need to start putting more content into their Sonic games or charging less.

Re: Random: Some Square Enix Staff Really Want A Final Fantasy VI Remake

Baker1000

It doesn't need to be a huge re-imagined 3D realistic remake like FF7 is getting though. It can still be a top-down game using 3D characters. It should have happened years ago when they gave us a 3D version of III and IV on the DS. For some reason they didn't go to V or VI on 3DS. It only needs to be just as those were but with modern polished graphics. So I don't know how exactly it is difficult. They wouldn't need to stretch it out over 3 or 4 releases like FF7 Remake.

Re: Sonic Superstars Won't Recycle Locations Like Green Hill Zone

Baker1000

I guarantee there's still a casino level. They can't help but recycle ideas even if they don't recycle the actual zone. Anyway I hope there is a substantial number of levels. One of the few things I'd complain about the original games is being too short. Give us like at least 50-60 levels, like in the region of content we get for NSMB.

Re: Rumour: Universal Closing "Big Deal" With Nintendo For Zelda Illumination Movie

Baker1000

As a lot of others has said, I don't think an animated movie by Illumination is right for Zelda. It worked for Mario and making it a comedy film, there are comedy scripts in Mario RPGs. Zelda is not comedy, it needs to be grand and epic. A few quirky characters, that's it. There are so many games Nintendo could give another animation to, Animal Crossing, Yoshi, Kirby, Kid Icarus, Pikmin. They could've given Zelda a live-action adaptation whilst having Illumination work on something else. I'm not feeling confident about this, but will wait for the trailer before losing my mind.

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Busier Hyrule Is Making Me Miss BOTW

Baker1000

@Cia I disagree. I've played huge open world RPGs (Xenoblade as I mentioned) and the music lifts the environment, it's not a distraction or off putting. See what happens to Satorl Marsh at night and imagine it without the music. Sure there ARE different piece of music in different areas, but it's still the same old subtle silence with a mellow piano melody every so often. It's genuinely refreshing when you get to a settlement or a stable and you actually have a theme being played constantly. None of the overworld themes are particularly memorable or iconic imo. It's even just down to something simple like the title screen. Why is there no music? Someone posted a clip of the Wind Waker title screen the other day and it hit me with nostalgia. No one is going to get nostalgic about the BOTW or TOTK title screens. For a series that was once known for it's cinematic title screens and iconic theme music, such as Ocarina of Time, it's a big let down. I haven't watched any of the last trailers for this game, so I still don't even know what the "Tears of the Kingdom" theme music is. I'm waiting for it to appear.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game. I just hope we move away from this idea that exploring needs to be done in near silence in the next entry. Let people turn it off if they find it annoying. But some of us remember when music was a staple of wandering around Hyrule.

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Busier Hyrule Is Making Me Miss BOTW

I was worried I would find it boring having the same map, but I needn't have worried. One thing which absolutely has to change next time though is giving us some actual overworld music. Just throwing out the same silent track with the same piano melody interrupting it certainly makes me miss the old Zelda's. Music feels as if it's taken a back step in the series now, which is a massive shame as it was one of the most beloved parts of Zelda. I'd love to have a different theme playing in every part of the map, the same way we do in games like Xenoblade. In whatever game is next, we need to have Link playing music to solve puzzles or change the environment again. Wind direction, time of day, weather conditions. I'd even love it if they did similar to the Oracle games and change seasons or time period to find a way forward. Make music a part of Zelda once more.

Re: Expect More Open-World Zelda Games Going Forwards, Suggests Eiji Aonuma

Baker1000

I'm all for it, but I'd love a new world to explore besides this map if they make more. Why not base one outside Hyrule? They always limit themselves when setting games in Hyrule because they need to keep the usual races and landmarks intact, have Ganon as the big bad and try to follow the usual conventions like the Master Sword existing. The few that are set elsewhere are when they go shackles off on the story and world building. Holodrum, Labrynna, Koholint, Termina. I'd love an open world adventure set in an entirely different place.

But I also hope we get more traditional games too. Maybe an opportunity to keep making top down games using a similar style to Link's Awakening, just to keep the moaners happy.

Re: Mario's Creator Shigeru Miyamoto Teases More Nintendo Movies

Baker1000

@Spoony_Tech I think Zelda fits into that category along side Mario and Pokemon. Just look how big BOTW was, because it's a Zelda game. They've pumped out any number of Zelda amiibo, because they know there's a market for it. People know Zelda (well, Link). Even if it's just nostalgia for OOT in their youth, which was another massive hit at the time. A movie would be a success, especially in this era of fantasy love we're in. Something like Metroid or Star Fox would be more obscure, of course. The only other huge hitter they'd have would be Animal Crossing. If they could somehow turn that into a film, that would be massive.

Re: Surprise! Xenoblade Chronicles 3 "Final DLC" Launches On Switch Next Week

Baker1000

Feels a bit weird they're dropping this now, I know they have the soundtrack out in a couple of months so need to get it out before then, but Zelda is just over 2 weeks after that. I know not everyone is gonna be into that but a good 70% are. Seems as if they're trying to get in ahead of Zelda. I was trying to clear my playlist before TOTK, but whatever, I'll throw this into the mix as well.

Re: Movie Review: Tetris - The Blocks Don't Quite Line Up In This Mostly Fun Thriller

Baker1000

I thought it was a great watch. Obviously dramatised with a bit of creative license thrown in. Found it a bit hard to keep track of who was claiming to own what at the beginning but by the sounds of it, so were the companies involved! A little bit annoying when they made a "that's why Zelda has Link" reference despite showing a clip with two Link's from a game that came out well after the 80s, when Link and Zelda are famously NOT a partnership in the game.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Gameplay Trailer Drops Tomorrow, 28th March 2023

Baker1000

I'm not being funny but why so long? I'd be happy with a 3 minute trailer. I'm aware this is odd to be moaning about getting something that's supposed to be good, but I'm conflicted. We've come this far with knowing hardly anything. I'd be happy enough to keep it that way. But at the same time it only means I'm gonna have to dodge everyone else talking about it from this point on.
