Nintendo: Uhh... "General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience." 😦 Mom: Alright what did you break this time... 😮💨 3rd Party Dock: 🤕
I'm liking Kirby Air Riders at the moment. There's tons to do and I like how differently all the vehicles play. I give it a 10. Pokemon ZA was good but a bit short and I've got nothing to do in it at the moment. The whole being set in one city didn't bother me as much as I thought it would since new wild zones opened as you play and new pokemon became available that way. I give it a 10. Mario Kart World is okay but I like the older ones a bit better. Unlocking the characters with Kamek was annoying and the race to other courses were a bit boring. I give it an 8. Haven't played Metroid Prime 4 yet but I'm expecting it to be good. Donkey Kong Bananza started off okay but got boring and repetative real fast. It was so bad that I didn't bother with the DLC. It's probably my biggest disappointment this year. I give it a 2.
Wish they'd just have a primary Switch 2 option instead of classifying it as another Switch 1. Caused me a lot of trouble on launch day with Mario Kart World which isn't even playable on the original Switch.
I want to know more about this game before I buy the digital version of it. How many Pokemon and biomes are there? Is there a story mode and quests, or is it more chilled out and leisurely?
They both seem to be a stationary boss in a round chamber room. The boss fight I saw at PAX seemed to have a very similar setup. I just hope there's more variety to the other boss fights in the game.
I think you can play it normal if you just focus on one of the 2 images that show up on the screen. I'm assuming it displays 2 images (one for each eye) on the Switch's screen.
@Willo567 in Australia, EB Games is usually the most expensive place to get them and they've got them for the following prices: (Note: The $US values are what I got from using an online currency converter today where $1AU equals $0.66US. $AU values include GST.)
Metroid single figures: $30 AU ($20.92 US) each Metroid bike: $45 AU ($29.88 US) each Kirby Air Riders: $60 AU ($39.84 US) each Mario Galaxy: $45 AU ($29.88 US) each
So you're paying about $10 US more across the board. Also I don't know if the prices in the article include tax so it's probably more.
It reminds me of the Dragon Quest Builders series but with Pokemon and without the story and combat. If it's an easy going version of those games then I'm interested in this. Personally I'm looking forward to this more than ZA.
I don't think it's that great at the moment but it normally takes a while for a console to build up a good library of games. I have enjoyed playing some of the Switch games like Pokemon and Zelda at a good frame rate though. So there's that.
I was hoping Donkey Kong would be better, but I got bored of smashing through everything pretty early in the game, and after beating the planet core boss I didn't want to play any of the post game stuff.
I'm sort of looking forward to Metroid Prime 4 and Kirby Air Riders, but nothing's got me particularly hyped for the future at the moment.
I just don't think the Switch 2 has a must have game at the moment, but maybe the Mario 40th Anniversary or another direct will announce something to get hyped about.
I'm pretty hyped for this after watching the State of Play. It's got everything I love about the recent Hitman games and more. I'll get this on Playstation though, I doubt the Switch 2 can run it properly.
If there was an english equivalent I'd like to play that. I like the idea of controlling words to change the story/game. Unfortunately I don't know a lick of Chinese or Japanese and I suck at learning new languages so I can't really get this.
It's alright. I hate how it sometimes jumps the focus to a nearby warp point when I don't want it to. Wish there was a way to turn that off to be honest.
I mean it uses a similar naming convention to the Legend of Zelda series so I don't get why people are hating the name for. 🤷♂️ The only thing I didn't like about it was the 'available 2026' but it's not that long a wait.
Definitely that Yomawari farming game. Likely Silksong since it'll be playable at ACMI. Hopefully UFO 50 because I haven't played it yet and I'm interested in it. I'd like to see something new and exclusive for Switch 2 but I'm not getting my hopes up (for the exclusive part at least).
I had some troubles during my initial setup without doing the system transfer from my original Switch. I wanted to keep my saves on my original Switch because I didn't want to fill all the memory on the Switch 2 with Switch 1 games so I chose not to do the system transfer.
I had downloaded Mario Kart World but it wouldn't let me play it initially unless I had my original Switch next to my Switch 2 (because of the new digital game card system). The switches wouldn't detect each other for some reason so I tried changing my Switch 2 to be my nintendo account's primary switch but that didn't fix the issue. I put the systems right up to each other and tried it again later on in the day then it worked.
I don't understand why there isn't a primary Switch 1 system and a primary Switch 2 system if they are going to do things this way. Having a Switch 2 game's usability being dependent on a Switch 1 (a console that can't even run the game) is rediculous and if I had traded in my old Switch to get the Switch 2 I would have been unable to play my digital copy of Mario Kart World.
Outside of that I like the Switch 2. I like that it can run more powerful games and I like the new hardware.
I want to get the black one but the thing's going to cost way more than a Series X (judging by price of current ROG ally products) so I might hold off for a couple of years.
I'm getting a cover for the headphone port as I got zapped twice by it while holding the controller when it was connected to the USB port on the Switch 2 dock. (Likely due to static electricity build up on my part but I've never been zapped by the headphone ports on other controllers)
I wonder if they could do amiibo that have a game on it in the style of Game Key Cards. Scanning the amiibo could allow you to play the game until you turn the Switch 2 off or put it in sleep mode. They could probably add a button to do a verification like they have on authenticator dongles to try and prevent piracy.
And here I thought they just repositioned the IR scanner from the OG JoyCon to a position where players and devs could actually use it (instead of it being a dead feature outside of Labo, Ring Fit Adventure and 1 2 Switch.) Innovation through reorganisation, I like it.
Though it does make me wish they'd add a scroll wheel like Sakurai suggested.
It could've been ok but the 10 fps limit on it kinda kills it. This feature is also on PS5 without the frame limit and I use it sometimes with my friend doing missions online in GTA. (I'd use it more but it's a hassle to remember where it is in the menu and set it up.)
It's actually pretty cool to see what he's up to in real time and helpful when we have to coordinate takedowns of groups of enemies in the stealth sections so we don't set off the alarm and spawn in enemy reinforcements.
I mean if someone could make an adapter so you could use the Switch 1 acessories that use rails (such as the original Joy-Cons and the NES controller) and attach, charge and sync them to the Switch 2 I'd be interested in that.
I'm like a 40 min train ride from ACMI and already had plans of going to the Game Worlds exhibition anyway, so Silksong being playable there is like icing on the cake.
I'm confused. Do we have to do a system transfer to Switch 2 to get our Switch 1 digital library on Switch 2 (practically wiping the Switch 1 in the process), or can we just log in on the Switch 2 and download our digital games that way (not effecting the Switch 1 at all)?
Meanwhile in Australia there's plenty available to preorder.
You can get them from JB, EB, Big W and even Nintendo if you meet the requirements. Hell you can even get them from Officeworks which doesn't typically sell game consoles.
Oh by the way I don't mean they were available for a few minutes and sold out, I mean you can go on their sites and order them right now. So over here there seems to be plenty of stock and they're selling them everywhere.
@SillyG I managed to get the Street Fighter amiibo, SF amiibo cards and a Gamecube controller when the store went back up from Nintendo AU too.
I didn't know they were exclusive to the My Nintendo Store over here and I wouldn't have even known to check yesterday if it wasn't for a comment you posted in another article so thanks for that. 👍
If I log into the Switch 2 with my Nintendo ID will it have my Switch 1 profile and allow me to redownload my Switch 1 games on Switch 2 (while keeping my Switch 1 the same), or do I have to transfer my profile over from the Switch 1 like we had to to get our Wii profiles onto the Wii U (and lose my games from Switch 1)
Sorry but that "instant input" argument against analogue triggers is bull since you can just register the input at something low like a 5% trigger press instead of a full press. It also makes driving games or other games that rely on adjusting an input's sensitivity not as easy to implement on the system.
Also having smooth-gliding control sticks instead of implementing something to remove stick drift comes across as tone deaf to what consumers have complained (and gone to court) about.
Look, I like Nintendo and I will be getting a Switch 2, but these decisions are just disappointing. 😔
