Finished quite a few games this week! Came to the finale in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond & I must say that reviewers and overall opinion seems correct: ending felt rushed, lost, & very not Metroid. The last dungeon & crystal collection takes the air away from what was a 10/10 experience prior to the Mines. A couple tweaks and this would’ve been a GOTY contender for me! Still a solid “good” but I was craving an “excellent”. I will play MP2 at some point this year and see where the dark world takes me
I also finished Mega Man 4 and I truly enjoyed it more than 3! The sprites. The music. The buster. The slight easiness to it! I’ll take a mini break before getting to 5
I happened to start and finish PaRappa the Rapper in a couple sittings as well! Phew! I wasn’t expecting the control inputs to be so off! In a rhythm game non the less. Enjoyable experience. One I never finished as a kid but happy I got to as an adult!
Currently working on Sonic Triple Trouble for Game Gear, Dragon Spirit for TurboGrafx16 & picked up my play through Donkey Kong Bananza!
Happy New Year! At the tail ends of Metroid Prime 4 & Mega Man 4. Enjoying both more than the discourse brought up during their releases. I also happened to start Super Bomberman to scratch my puzzle itch
Played the DX fan made version about a month ago. Enjoyed the adventure quite a bit! I encourage folks to give it a shot as there can never be too much Metroid
Happy to report I managed to finish Mega Man 3 yesterday morning & I am one robot into Mega Man 4! Absolutely obsessed with the series at the moment. I want to tackle as many as I can in 2026
I also finished Bubble Ghost for Game Boy. Perfect tiny little puzzler! Haven’t been near my Switch 2 but I am In the Mines area in Metroid Prime 4. Trying to wrap that up before the change of the year as well
After a plethora of action puzzlers I’ve decided to throw myself into a game I’ve never embarrassingly played: the original God of War! So far. Glorious!!!
With my focus on the Sega Genesis, I’ve made it through my sixth game this month! Playing the Knuckles portion of the locked on Sonic & Knuckles was quite the delight and surprise! I had done a bit of research deciphering the differences of this “add on” vs the original Sonic the Hedgehog where I kept seeing hints about a level called Sandapolis. It did not disappoint ! Even though it plays much slower with the echidna, I found the level design & the bosses thrilling. The sequence & levels that followed were chefs kiss
Bought myself a Miyoo Mini v4 for lunch breaks at work & have been flying through some Sega Genesis games! Finished Probotector, TNMT the Hyperstone Heist, Captain America & the Avengers, Earthion (10/10 AMAZING & will replay on Switch) & currently working on my first play through of Golden Axe! I also happened to finish a year long replay of Pokemon: LeafGreen & started y’all GOTY Donkey Kong Bananza. I’m also working on Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade as my next year long game
Finished up Triangle Strategy & Kingdom Hearts this week. Triangle Strategy deserved a meatier finale of a boss battle vs Kingdom Hearts got it just right! Challenge, stages in the fight, transformations, etc. You name it! Decided to go to the past & tackle Probotector this weekend. Phew! How did folks make it anywhere without save states?!
Been dealing with burnout (& a relationship gone sour) since May. Bought Raidou & trying P5X on mobile along with Kingdom Hearts & the GBA One Piece being close to completion since May. P5X has been my constant so far & feels just like the original. I'm hoping it's the antidote to get me back into what I love to do
Been hanging out in 1937 with the great Indiana Jones and the Great Circle this week & it was a truly epic adventure from start to finish. The puzzles made you think, the exploration was as deep as you wanted it to be, & the acting? Just WOW. Troy Baker did a phenomenal job as Indy. I’m looking forward to the rumored DLC
WELP. I was deep in to Act 2 when I decided to give up (due to difficulty plus my lack of grind) but the positive discourse online made me come back & FINISH the amazing game Clair Obscure: Expedtion 33. WHAT. A GAME. AND. ENDING! If you have a way of experiencing it I beg you to check it out because you won’t be disappointed. The acting & story alone are generational.
Clair is hard to follow up. I dipped my toes into the Oblivion Remaster but didn’t find the combat or world compelling enough to continue my play through currently. One day! Instead i went deep into the mystery that Indy is presented. Indiana Jones & the Great Circle has been interesting so far! And exploring the Vatican whilst a new pope got announced was surreal
After about 12 hours of parrying & dodging enemy attacks, I’ve decided to give up on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Loved the story with its many twists & turns- yet I could never get the timing right! It was sucking the joy out of it. I took my talents over to hacking & slashing in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. It’s good to be back hanging with Ryu & continuing his adventures against evil. I did manage to get all the gold cups in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. WE’RE READY FOR MK WORLD BBY!
After clashing with Daein over Crimea’s future & Serene’s past, I concluded my 23 hour journey in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. I enjoyed the overall narrative & read every possible line to better understand why this underrated classic sits so high amongst Fire Emblem fans. My favorite character so happened to be Jill. From a gameplay perspective, any flying wyvern or pegasus/falcon had the best advantage. Yet her take on the war & picking sides made me tear up. I expected a bit more from the final boss fight but look towards Radiant Dawn on the Wii to give me the answers I seek
I was in quite the rush to finish Path that I sped through the final 6 chapters in a matter of days. Just to prepare for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Boy. What. An. OPENING! The prologue introduces a narrative that captivates in ways I haven’t felt since Persona 5. ALL THE FEELS! I plan on putting some major time & getting her done before the arrival of my Nintendo Switch 2 & Mario Kart World. Yes, we secured it !
Ike & co have kept me busy over the past two weeks in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Multi nation war, betrayals, teaming up with half bird half humans, even fighting a dragon! I’m in the latter part of the story & enjoying every minute
A chapter of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is currently my go to every night before bed. The locales & maps. Ike’s tale. It just hits a bit different from the past few recent entries I’ve played. It shows its age being a GameCube original yet somehow never lets me down. Nintendo strikes again! Brilliant. Also all this kart race talk for the new system has made me dip in & out of Mario Kart Double Dash along with my daily crown hunt journey in Monster Hunter Wilds
Whlist the Switch 2 dominated the week, I still got my gaming in. Still crown hunting in Monster Hunter Wilds. The title update is here so I’m sure to put a few extra hours this weekend. That won’t deter me from playing Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance! I’ll do about a chapter a night & I’m having a grand ole time with Ike’s heroic & growing adventure
Still gaming. Still loving Nintendo (& all this Switch 2 news). But I’m also still deep in the hunt & Monster Hunter Wilds has truly taken over my 2025. Still crown hunting atm with a total 12 large crowns and 6 small crowns. The endgame is superb & I highly recommend it after my 70 hours with the new release. I am also attempting a chapter a night in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Trying to unravel Ike’s story in this massive blind spot for myself
Crown hunting! I’ve got about 6 or 7 crowns in Monster Hunter Wilds. Picked up the Logitech G Cloud to have a ‘Switch like’ experience with it. Game changer!
In the endgame baby, Monster Hunter Wilds ! It’s just THAT good. Close to 40 hours in two weeks. Sword & Shield is extraordinary plus the monsters & world are superb
I also had a quick beach trip & tore threw Ninja Gaiden III: The Airship of Doom & The King of Fighters EX2: Howling Blood. Peak gaming on both ends!!
FINALLY! It’s all about Monster Hunter Wilds rn after keeping myself far away from all of Capcoms spoiler centric trailers & presentations over the past year. Everything is refreshing!
Earlier this week, I swung through the entire story of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales & quite enjoyed seeing New York City in all its glory. Insomniac does not miss! I even found my self lost in the “collectathon” & got pretty close to the platinum. Currently fighting my way through Mortal Kombat 1. I find the cut scenes & story to be mesmerizing. On the side before bed, I’ve been dabbling in Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos through the SNES trilogy as my goal is to finish the series this year. I just can’t get enough of these classics!
T-minus 13ish days til I (we) get lost in Monster Hunter Wilds so I’ve been tackling as much of the backlog as I possibly can. This week I finished the Injustice 2 & Tekken 8 campaigns after my deep dive into the Ninja Gaiden franchise. Both pleasant surprises. Both wacky yet fun stories. Amazing fighting game overall. I’m currently exploring NYC & fighting crime in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. That opening Rhino fight>>>
Ninja this. Ninja that. I hopped on the Ninja Gaiden Black train & WOW. What have I been missing! After tackling a few JRPGs this year, Ryu has been a breath of fresh air. I did not realize the OG Xbox had this gem of a game at its disposal! The hack & slash action. The over the top story. The dungeons. I’m currently on chapter 13 & can’t wait to see how creative Team Ninja gets with the finale. I also happened to finish the old school Game Boy Ninja Gaiden Shadow on a car ride earlier in the week & plan on tackling some more of the series this year
Wrapped up one of the most controversial games in a franchises history, I found Final Fantasy VIII enjoyable! Sure. The story was looney but the love affair focus? The junction system? That final FOUR stage Ultemecia?! Insanity. I enjoyed my time with Squall & gang & hope others give this 90s classic a shot
I then ended up speeding through Sonic Generations whilst trying to decide my next deep dive & i truly enjoyed it. Where folks were hyper criticizing the greatness of the Shadow side of Generations, I found the 3D portions, the brighter colors & the focus on gameplay over a story extremely delightful. Modern Sonic took the cake! The classic one not so much haha not having certain moves made it jarring
Currently? OG Forza Horizon x podcasts = palette cleaner <3
Does anyone else outline their backlog & TRY to follow it until a new release comes along? Well, Sephiroth had other plans. After saving the planet in that epic tale, I decided I wanted more Final Fantasy. And that’s where Squall & SeeD came around. Currently 12 hours into the 3rd disc (3x speed) of Final Fantasy VIII. I am loving the change of pace, characters & the love story so far. Rinoa is written perfectly! Another memorable FF that every fan should experience
Remake. Rebirth. & now I can finally say I finished the OG. The big kahuna. A classic that changed the entire gaming industry upon release in 97. I finally wrapped credits on Cloud & Sephiroths epic story Final Fantasy VII. & it was every bit as magnificent as everyone says! The characters. The writing. The gang. I want to step right back into this world. & I did! Currently watching Advent Children as I type this out. I cannot get enough of this tale & can’t wait to see what Square decides to do with the third part of this epic tale
Took it upon myself to fight thee gods of old in my latest video game journey - specifically the Greek gods whilst escaping hell itself. I can finally say I finished a run in Hades. It was gorgeous & elaborate with a complex yet easy system. One of my first ever rogue likes & i must say I didn’t fall complete in love with the die/repeat/try again ideology they present. The story was phenomenal in the 10-12 hours or so I took to get that run in. I just can’t find myself going another 9 rounds when the rest of my backlog is screaming at me. I intend to finish Mario & Rabbids Kingdom Battle: DK Adventure DLC in celebration of the DK releases as of late & continue my backlog journey until a certain Monster Hunter graces our presence…
Oooweeee. New Year = New Games!! Finished Shadow Generations right before the turn of the year & it was truly thrilling to speed around as the other hedgehog. I happened to play this right after a slew of Nintendo crafted games so I noticed the lack of polish from Sega yet it created an itch to tackle some more Sonic games this year - particularly the DS games. In due time…
I started the year off with a bang! After tackling Persona 3/4/5 & Metaphor (totaling over 300 hours) in ‘24, Catherine: Full Body was next in line. And dare I say I am enjoying it way more than I thought I would. The plot. The presentation. The music. The puzzles. The plot twists! I happened to complete it last night and found myself enjoying my ending but catching the other ten or so online. Love when developers tie in as many possibilities as possible giving us the freedom to choose our path. Happy 2025
Finished Unicorn Overlord AND Kirby & the Forgotten Land this week! It’s been a perfect gaming holiday for knocking things off the ol’ backlog
With Unicorn, I found myself immersed in the strategy of every battle versus the art as most folks claim to hang as it’s true positive. Still captivating of course, I was eager to see the numbers go up as they say. Story wise the ending had me cheesing but otherwise it was pretty solid. I hope to do post game someday! Kirby on the other hand - what a CHARMER. I enjoyed it very much and find the creative transformations adorable. The team developed some of the most intriguing stages as well! I see all the praise for Astro Bot and wonder if people were just being dismissive because this our kid friendly Kirby.
After enjoying Sonic 3 the movie I bit the bullet and bought Sonic x Shadow Generations. Currently a couple acts into it & loving the movie crossover as well! Happy gaming and new year to all!
It really depends on the day but I currently have Echoes of Wisdom over Unicorn Overlord. Solid 2024 list to look back on for the foreseeable future and Merry Christmas!
I’ve got a few main quests left in Unicorn Overlord yet I found myself liberating towns and enjoying the side quests for several hours last night. I think I’ll have it done right on Christmas Day. It snuck into my top 2 games of this year and deserves a spot on my top 25 of all time. I’m hoping to either start and finish a short game right after. Happy Holidays and Gaming y’all
Unicorn Overlord! about a dozen hours put in this week with many to go in hopes of completion by the new year. I’m finding it rather cozy after the frantic action of Prince of Persia: the Lost Crown which I FINISHED Sunday night. I enjoyed it for the Metroidvania it was, as well as the combat and the art direction but the story didn’t capture my attention. There was even some souls like difficulty with the bosses that had me bring down the difficulty. With Unicorn, I feel these Fire Emblem-ish vibes that are simple yet cool in their own way. And the tactics system is refreshing as well! It’s all about the preparation babyyy! Dare I say this may sneak into my top 3 games for 2024 which I thought I had set
Finally wrapped on Metaphor ReFantazio! I’ve had a fun, Atlus filled 2024 between starting and finishing P5/4/3. I must say the political fantasy drama just didn’t leave the same taste in my mouth that the save the world teens did. Still- a solid experience & the middle part of the story had me on the edge of my seat. Characters were written beautifully whilst combat was fluently splendid so I can’t wait to see what Atlus cooks up next.
I dove right into a palette cleanser as I’m currently sitting on 7 hours playtime in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. I can see why this game is making so many people GOTY lists! But I still hold FF7Rebirth & Zelda as my one two punch for top dawgs this year. Hope to beat it by Tuesday so I can attempt one more game as 2024 closes out
Finished One Piece Burning Blood & on the final day of Metaphor ReFantazio! Caught a minor bug so hoping to finish that last battle the next couple days
Chopping at the last third of Metaphor ReFantazio & the main stories true colors are showing. The connections/bonds are extraordinary side stories on their merit as well. I’m still balancing it out with the fighter One Piece Burning Blood[/]. Just one fight of One Piece for each long session of Metaphor is the perfect counter so far. I’m hoping to start [b]Prince of Persia: the Lost Crown on my Switch as soon as I wrap up both. I’ve made a short list of Switch games to hit before Monster Hunter Wilds & Switch 2 announcements/anticipation take over in February/March
Enjoying the twists and turns of Metaphor ReFantazio whilst also tackling One Piece Burning Blood as my side dish. People don’t give it any credit and I’ve found it a pretty enjoyable short fighting campaign !

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (16th August)

Is that enough gaming for one week ? lol

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (4th January)
Happy 2025
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (New Year Edition)
Re: Best Nintendo Switch Games Of 2024
It really depends on the day but I currently have Echoes of Wisdom over Unicorn Overlord. Solid 2024 list to look back on for the foreseeable future and Merry Christmas!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (Christmas 2024 Edition)
Happy Holidays and Gaming y’all
Re: Opinion: At Last, Vanillaware Hit The Big Time With Unicorn Overlord
Made my personal top 3 overall behind P5R & FF7Rebirth - so my second favorite game to come out THIS year. And a very big surprise!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th December)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (7th December)
Hope to beat it by Tuesday so I can attempt one more game as 2024 closes out
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th November)
Finished One Piece Burning Blood & on the final day of Metaphor ReFantazio! Caught a minor bug so hoping to finish that last battle the next couple days
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd November)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (16th November)
(9th November)
20ish hours into Metaphor ReFantazio or about the third main dungeon & DEEEEEEP into Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket. It’s really good
