Please, guys, DO NOT PREORDER! DO NOT BUY THE CONSOLE AT LAUNCH!
If we resist the temptation and wait a little longer, Nintendo will see no other chance than to low the prices of the games. We need to send them the message, not with words, but with acts.
WE WON'T BUY YOUR GAMES AT THOSE PRICES, NINTENDO!
@SuperRetroArt Man, you can still trade them, haven't you read the news? Actually, they said it from the very beggining. It's not tied to any Nintendo account! You just need the game card to play the game. It's the same as physical, but you have to download the whole game.
Errr we knew about this already, but I guess it's always good to have a confirmation.
It's not the end of the world. It's lazy and cheap, but it could be worse. At least you can resell the games (it was my main concern when I first saw the announce).
@ChakraStomps It's not because I don't have the money. It's because I don't consider this movement FAIR. And I don't want to be treated as stupid (maybe you do). We consumers have the power to decide what we want and what we don't want. And I don't want videogames to cost 90€ from now on.
If you will get anyway, you shall see. But it's because of people like you that companies (and goverments) think they can do whatever they want with us, normal people.
@LXP8 The WiiU was released with New Super Mario Bros U, a game nobody asked for, and nothing new and exciting in the horizon until Mario 3D World was released a year later... Terrible line up.
Here you have within a few months Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Metroid Prime 4 and, damn, a freaking Pokemon! Besides, this IS a real follow up to the previous console, even the name leave it clear (unless the confussing U with the other one...). And last but not least, the Wii appealed mostly to casuals that didn't care about gaming, nothing to do with the Switch. EVERYONE loved the Switch, until the very end.
Unless there's a huge boycott for the prices, this console will sell like hotcakes.
What?? From the data we have now, the only game that requires more space is Mario Kart, and it takes about 30gb.
Man, Donkey Kong will need just 10gb! If you only get DK type of games, you'd be able to install 25 games at a time.
No way you could do that with the OG Switch (or any other console), unless they're indie games.
@Cry_Zero If you're going to buy the console day one anyway, the bundle with Mario Kart is a pretty good deal. You get MKW for less than half of the oficial price.
I won't be buying the console yet to boycott them (I hope they drop the prices), but if I did, I would definitely go for that bundle.
Nintendo should make a rule to clarify in the cover of the games, with a kind of sticker, the games that use Game Key Cards, with something like: "This game uses a Game Key Card and requires to be fully downloaded". And specify the space needed. That would be a fair move.
In any case, I'm not that bothered about this thing. You just need to have enough space to download the full game, which sucks indeed, but still you're able to sell the game once you're done with it. That's what had me most worried.
@Ultimapunch I had the WiiU (not anymore, I sold it to get the Switch), but I didn't bought this game because I always thought it would come to Switch. Same with Twilight Princess. They are so easy and obvious picks to port... Who could have thought they wouldn't port them? It's insane. So now I can't play the HD games but via emulation. And I HAD the WiiU. It sucks so much lol.
@Banjo- What? The WiiU the definitive Nintendo console...? You're joking, right? Hahaha I had it at the time (I was one of the few ones), and I actually enjoyed it... kind of. But let's admit it, it's the worst Nintendo console ever...
No new Zeldas (until the very end), no Metroids, no Fire Emblems, no Pokemons, no Animal Crossing, no good Mario RPGs, no third party games. Actually, no games in general. Just a constant, infinite drought. And the console was very dissapointing too. You couldn't even take it to the toilet... What was the point, then?
No thanks, I don't want to get back to that time. As an experiment was alright, but Switch was insanely better, in every way possible.
By the way, I don't think many other games from Switch 1 era will ask for money to the updated.
I mean, if you think of it, we'll basically be charged extra for Zelda BotW and TotK. The reason behind it is weird, but I guess Nintendo saw an opportunity to get some extra money considering a lot of people LOVE those games and we really want to play them the best way possible. And they include them in the NSO, increasing the appeal of that service.
But if you see the rest of them, are basically Kirby and Mario Party, which include a DLC (which is the real reason we have to pay for the upgrade, actually), and also Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Legends ZA, which haven't come out yet, and so we'll need to pay for the upgrade for an obvious reason: otherwise, EVERYONE would get Switch 1 version for a cheaper price, instead of the 80-90 bucks they ask for the Switch 2 version.
If you take a look at the (small so far) list of the games that will be updated for free, we find games such as Mario Odyssey and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet. Pretty BIG games. They could have easily charged for them in order to be played in 4K and so, but they haven't.
If they don't charge for a game like Mario Odyssey, I don't think they'll charge for minor games like Pikmin 4, Metroid Dread, Fire Emblem TH, Astral Chain and so. I just don't see it. The rest of the paid upgrades will make much more sense than Zelda BotW and TotK cases, mark my words.
Great footages, actually. The show was pretty good, even though the most exciting part was the comment section lol. Tons of Metroid and DK goodness, and the Gamecube games look great.
Today I'm sooo curious to see what the From Software game is about...
Definitely the game I would buy the Switch 2 for! ...If it wasn't on Switch 1.
I will wait and see what happens with the prices of the games, but I might consider getting the Switch 2 by the time this game launches for the huge visual improvement. And yes, for Mario Kart and Donkey Kong too.
It's one of the most powerful games at the moment (and a fantastic one). Includes the DLC. Everything is on the card. It looks at 1080 on portable. And it costs 70 bucks, instead of 90.
It's INSANE that Mario Kart 8 cost 60€ on Switch, and World will cost 90€ on Switch 2. But it's EVEN MORE INSANE that Kirby Forgotten Land cost 60€ on the Switch, and it will cost 90€ on the Switch 2... A game that is now over 3 years old.
We can't afford to spend 90 euros in every videogame. You buy 11 and spend a thousand euros...
As I said in another post, seriously, how is it possible Mario Kart 8 cost 60€, and Mario Kart World 90€...?? What insanity is that? It's 30€ more expensive... 20€ more than Tears of the Kingdom... 20 euros more! A Mario Kart game!
I'm not getting the Switch 2 day one. Sorry, but Mario Kart will have to wait. And DK too. I will wait and see what happens. This is not normal.
I would have given it a 10/10... If not for the prices.

Fantasy Life - May
Inazuma Eleven - August
Professor Layton - November?
Re: Nintendo: Switch 2's Launch Titles Are "Sort Of" Genre- And Franchise-Defining
@Dev-N Well, DK Bananza will also be collectathon again, right? That's what I understood.
Re: Nintendo: Switch 2's Launch Titles Are "Sort Of" Genre- And Franchise-Defining
Well, if they don't want us to miss those games, they really should consider lowering the prices.
Re: Some Fans Are Drawing Unfavourable Comparisons Between Switch 2 And Xbox One
@pepsilover2008 "the Xbox one generation people were pissed about the online only aspect of it"
Oh, ok, I thought people now were also pissed about the insane prices of the NS2 games... Maybe I'm being delusional.
Re: Community: What Questions About Switch 2 Do You Still Have For Nintendo?
@datamonkey "Will odyssey get the S2 upgrade treatment?"
This has been confirmed already. Check the news, it's among the free upgrades.
Re: Community: What Questions About Switch 2 Do You Still Have For Nintendo?
When will you drop the prices?
When they decide to drop the insane prices of their games, I'll buy the console. So that question would be key for me.
Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2
@FuzzieGinge88 I don't expect prices to increase, I expect them to decrease.
And I'm not delusional. I don't want to be robbed.

Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, Nintendo.
Drop the price or we won't buy.

Re: Talking Point: Zelda: Wind Waker Is On Switch 2 - Do You Still Want A WW:HD Port?
Well, OF COURSE I want one of the best Zeldas ever as a standalone game, with all the improvements the HD version had.
Besides, I don't plan to pay for online. I've never done it, and I don't think I ever will.
Re: Video: Street Fighter 6 Side-By-Side Comparison (Switch 2 & PlayStation 5)
Very impressive! I've seen several videos, and I can't say if it looks better on Switch 2 or PS4 Pro.
Are we actually having a portable console that is as powerful as PS4 Pro?? That would be bonkers!
A pity that we ought to do a little boycott for the steep price of the games... Otherwise I would get the console day one for sure. What a beast.
Re: 'Switch 2 Editions' Are Supposedly A Switch Game Card And Download Code For The Upgrade Pack
If this is true, there's absolutely no reason why to buy the Switch 2 version instead of the OG Switch one...
If so, I know what version of Metroid Prime 4 I'll be getting then lol.
Re: Community: Which Switch 2 Games Are You Wishlisting?
For those prices, none.
Once they have fixed the prices, a lot of then lol. But Metroid above all.
By the way, we can't vote for DK and Elden Ring.
Re: Masahiro Sakurai Provides Brief Development Update On His New Switch 2 Game
I honestly think they shouldn't release it this year... Mario Kart will eat up the whole Christmas.
Such strong competition won't benefit the game. I would release it by February/March 2026 if I were them.
Re: Nintendo Treehouse 3rd April 2025 - All Switch 2 Gameplay Reveals

Re: Hands On: I Didn't Think I Could Love BOTW Or TOTK More, Then I Played Them On Switch 2
I saw them in the Threeshouse, and wow... They do look stunning.
I'm considering paying the extra for the improved versions (which should be for free, but Nintendo is Nintendo...)
Re: Hands On: Rock Surfing And Boulder Bashing - 'Donkey Kong Bananza' Is Brilliantly Bonkers
It's DK time to shine!
Hopefully one day we'll get a crossover where we can play as Mario, Kirby and DK in the same game lol.
Re: Hands On: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond On Switch 2 Is Staggering
Definitely the game I would buy the Switch 2 for!

Re: Fast Fusion Brings Everyone's Favourite WipEout Rival To Switch 2

Having this and F-Zero GX (on NSO, which looks great) on day one is crazy.
Re: Hands On: Cyberpunk 2077 Might Pull A 'Witcher 3' On Switch 2
@r0mer0 Is it not running well on Switch 2?? Never heard that.
Re: Hands On: Cyberpunk 2077 Might Pull A 'Witcher 3' On Switch 2
@r0mer0 A five year old game that is more powerful than most games that have been released in the last five years lol.
Re: Hands On: Cyberpunk 2077 Might Pull A 'Witcher 3' On Switch 2
It's one of the most powerful games at the moment (and a fantastic one). Includes the DLC. Everything is on the card. It looks at 1080 on portable.
And it costs 70 bucks, instead of 90.
Now THIS is how things should be done.
Re: "DROP THE PRICE!!!" Scream Nintendo Fans During Nintendo's Treehouse Live Broadcast

Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting
For Europe, this is even worse...

@CaleBoi25 This is Fantasy Life with Animal Crossing skins.

Are we living another dream?

Metroid and Fantasy Life will ve DAY ONE. No doubt about it.
Not sure about the rest.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond's Official Switch Box Art Is Absolutely Stunning
Damn, that's BEAUTIFUL. I want it for yesterday!
My most anticipated game right now, by far.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct Predictions - What Do You Want To See?
I'm not going to go crazy with this, and you shouldn't, either.
The BIG part of the Direct will be focused on Metroid Prime 4, as it must be. Apart form that, I'd LOVE to get shadow drops and release dates of Zelda WW and TP, and Metroid Prime 2 and 3.
That's pretty much it, and I'd be really happy with it.
If we also get a remaster of F-Zero GX, I'll die.
Re: Best Nintendo Switch Open World Games
@weisske I hope you are joking. BotW and Xenoblade X are two of the best open world games (real open world) there are.

Thanks for the remainder, Nintendolife!
