I never thought we'd get Download Play back, my favorite multiplayer experience!

Probably a long shot since it's on NSO already, but I'd love a Paper Mario 64 remaster to complete the set of remasters for the original three Mario RPGs.

I'm guessing it'll be like how Pokémon Sun/Moon were back in the day where it ran better on the New 3DS but could still be played on original 3DS hardware. And that's probably the best case scenario for MP4 since the original Switch hardware has a huge existing userbase, but some upscaling would give early Switch 2 adopters something to enjoy.

Weird they would include the Mario RPG remake in this sale but not the Paper Mario TTYD remake.

I was just now able to download the new alarms in the US. Kind of odd because it didn't give me a notification like it did when the Mario Kart theme dropped, but when I manually checked for the update, it was there!

The alarms are Ground, Underground, Underwater, and Bowser Battle.

This game has a great soundtrack, but it looks like none of the songs support the extended playback feature? Extremely disappointed in that since that's the biggest appeal of the service for me.

These leaks aren't telling us what we all really want to know: How many ice cubes will we be able to count using the new JoyCons' HD 4D rumble?

In a Snowbound Land is excellent for falling asleep to, happy for this update.

God I miss when it used to be fun to be a Pokémon fan and speculate together what could be coming next. We barely know anything about this announcement, and already several people are complaining.

@CaleBoi25 agreed, there's so much lore in the ARMS universe that deserves to be explored and expanded on.

As much as I love a lot of their Dreamcast-era games, a lot of the music (particularly in Sonic) reminds me of a tween who just discovered their angst.

I enjoyed this a lot when it launched on Switch. My only issue was there seemed to be a steep difficulty curve once you get to the final boss, and I got stuck and never finished it. This might be a good excuse to go back and replay it, adding in some level grinding as I go.

Mario Kart DS will forever be among the best in the series because of Download Play.

My most desired feature in a Switch 2 is a return of the clamshell design. The current Switch is portable in theory, but I don't find myself actually taking it many places because it's just a little too bulky.

In the end, after countless updates over the years, his 3DS just wasn't stable enough to continue. RIP.

I'm already using the app and love it. My favorite feature is being able to extend the play time of a song, I took the best nap listening to the Ocarina of Time title theme for 30 minutes.

Doom is great and all, but I just want the thing to play sleepy sounds for longer than 5 minutes haha

It bothers me how these articles always mention Paper Mario "not looking as sharp as it once did" when it's aged better than most N64 games due to its art style.

@Joeynator3000 I'm also having this issue, I have to keep my Switch screen on otherwise downloads pause.

This whole situation reminds me of when Sakurai was upset about the Subspace Emissary cutscenes being added to the internet as soon as Smash Brawl came out. It was naïve in 2008 but insane to think that things won't leak in 2024.

@scoot I feel very similarly. I normally hate tutorials in games, but it would really benefit from more explanations of what to do and how to do it. I also keep forgetting where I've placed important items, and I can't find any quick way to retrieve them or even locate them. The game really lacks that Nintendo charm too, in my opinion, and it looks very unfinished visually.

Most of what I've seen so far likely won't be that damaging. I don't think a handful of bad/embarrassing lore ideas and unfinished designs will do much harm, although leaking a build of the game definitely would if it were to go that far. I think the bigger issue for GameFreak is potentially losing the trust of Nintendo when it comes to the handling of sensitive information like upcoming consoles.

@Kazman2007 There are still plenty of GameCube games that the Switch needs, and some of them could really benefit from online multiplayer (Mario Kart DD, Smash Bros Melee, Mario Party, F Zero, etc.). And that doesn't even count third party titles.

I also don't think Nintendo particularly cares about adding games to the service despite remakes/remasters/ports existing (e.g., we still got Mario 64 on Switch Online despite it being available already via 3D All Stars).

@YaGirlSkyByte Yeah it sounds like most of the controversy was internal, but the part about it being "memed into oblivion" makes it sound like the public's response may have been a little embarrassing to Nintendo.

I'm glad they didn't go with the dot matrix LED design. The final product definitely looks like something made by Nintendo, which is the biggest appeal factor imo.

$100 is definitely steep, but I don't think it's fair to say Alarmo is unneeded because everyone uses their phone. It's pretty cool that the tech monitors your position to see if you've gotten up, assuming it works well (something my phone doesn't do).

Categories that you can quickly flip through would be useful (e.g., bird monsters, water monsters, inanimate objects, etc.).

I also think there's just a lot of unnecessary bloat when it comes to the echoes. For example, it's unnecessary to have the hawk, elephant, snake, and cat statues after you've solved the puzzle in one of the dungeons relatively early in the game.

I love the mix of top-down classic Zelda with some BOTW/TOTK influences. My only complaints so far are the stuttering framerate and not-so-great echoes inventory management. Would really love to see them build on this foundation and make it a spinoff series.

Remakes turning 20 years old, god I feel old.

Kinda lame that playing the Switch remake of Link's Awakening doesn't count. I'd like the owl icon but don't have much motivation to go back and replay the DX version.

I don't think the Luigi's Mansion remake being one of the 3DS's last games necessarily correlates with this title being one of the Switch's last games. The 3DS remake came out October 2018, over a year-and-a-half after the Switch had already been out. We don't even have a confirmed Switch successor, so I think there are a few more Switch games to come.

I'd love one or two more games with added abilities, I just don't want it to overstay its welcome like the New Super Mario Bros series did.

It might result in a more visually appealing game if they aren't trying to make a bunch of different environments like they did in Arceus.

I enjoyed the movie a lot, but I could barely get through the demo of the 3DS original with how slow the pacing was. Doesn't seem like much is changing with this sequel.

I’d like this app so much more if they’d speed up things like collecting berries and feeding Snorlax. It’s such a slog to do the most basic things.

I think one of this game’s biggest problems was them releasing it in 2023 instead of 2002 when the movies were still coming out and Gollum merch was everywhere.

@Not_Soos It’s such a relief to see the unique NPCs haven’t been changed to generic Toads for this remake.

Didn’t Sonic 4 get overall decent reviews? I haven’t played it since it came out, but I think my only complaint with it was that the physics felt too slippery.

Sad to think how many uninformed people have wasted money on these thinking their Nintendo system needs to have the Nintendo-branded SD card.

Loved this game as a kid, but it’s sadly one of those games for me that’s more fun to look back on than it is to actually play today.

I hate to be that person, but doesn’t Luigi also go gooey in the 3DS remake of the first Luigi’s Mansion?

I’m kind of surprised they chose one of the starters for a new mascot instead of trying to make another Pikachu or Eevee happen (Fidough or Tinkatink could’ve been fun).

That said, I’m glad they picked Sprigatito out of the three starters.
