I haven’t booted up my copy of Shield since I beat the main story a few weeks after launch, but this nature documentary-like video actually put me in the mood to pick it up again.
@MS7000 I thought the same after about a five-month hiatus, but ACNH seems more forgiving compared to previous titles. All my villagers were still there, and the weeds only took about 20 minutes to clean up.
Definitely doesn’t sound like there’s enough new content to justify buying if you already have the first game. It makes me wonder if this was a rushed project to capitalize on the home workout craze due to COVID.
@Bobb even though the gen II games are my favorite, I’ve always felt they didn’t do as good of a job at marketing/introducing the new Pokémon as some of the later games did. You see it in-game too, with a lot of really cool Pokémon (Houndour, Larvitar, etc.) not even being available until the post game.
My guess is they were trying to include the most iconic Pokémon in the Gold/Silver intro since Pikachu, Charizard, Jigglypuff, and Lapras are/were some of the most popular gen I Pokémon. But it felt like a missed chance to highlight some of the newer ones.
While Paper Mario 64 might not look as sharp as it once did (as is stated in this article), it's aged way better than most N64 titles. Glad to see it near the top of the list.
@JAPBOO More people would probably complain if they didn't publish this news. Even though I've not touched New Horizons in a while, I like seeing these updates because we're definitely not getting many new game announcements.
I decided to finally finish Color Splash before buying Origami King. I love the writing and environments in Color Splash, but the battles are obviously subpar. I’m hoping playing through that first will make the battles in Origami King seem more enjoyable.
@RupeeClock The number of people polled really wasn’t very high, so I wouldn’t say this list necessarily reflects reality. X and Y only received one more vote than the third place spot and only 11 more votes than the fourth spot.
But I do think a lot of people like X and Y. A lot of people enjoyed mega evolution (especially now that it’s been taken out of the games), the introduction of the fairy type, and the variety of Pokémon available in the regional dex. For me personally, it ranks somewhere in the middle of the pack.
@The_Pixel_King Sounds like you did the right thing when choosing between keeping the lights on or playing video games. When you get back on your feet, the video games will still be there.
While the thought of a Pikachu having a pair of jigglypuffs seems crazy, to be fair, the first generation had a lot of Pokémon with human-like features (Jynx, Mr. Mime, Hitmonchan/lee, the Machop line).
@NintendoPete The first game is one of my favorite games of all time (I admit part of that is probably due to nostalgia). But it's aged incredibly well for an N64 game. If you have a Wii U, it's only $10 on the eShop.
They really should offer to reimburse the import fee for those in the UK who backed this project before that FAQ bit was published. Telling only half the truth in their statement was not good damage control.
I’m happy for the people who will play this and enjoy it. But I really wish they wouldn’t have hyped this game up by giving it its own presentation like they did.
@Camo-joe r/Gameboy on Reddit has tons of users posting their work and tutorials on how to mod Game Boy screens. I haven't personally modded any of my systems, but seeing some of the work they do is fascinating.
@RupeeClock I would totally do that if messages could be longer. But since the character limit is so short, I find it easier to just use my phone since I can easily type on it with one hand.
Well this is the most excited I've been for a Pokémon game in years!
I’m still a bit shocked they didn’t make a Pokémon Snap sequel for the Wii U. If released early in the system’s lifecycle, it could’ve been a great showcase for the GamePad.
@MS7000 I've been playing through Color Splash and am really enjoying it. It's a beautiful game with fantastic dialog (as in I literally lol occasionally). The battles are certainly a downside and deserve the criticism they receive—for me, they're not bad, but they're definitely not good either.
@Yorumi That's a really good point. I don't blame them for trying to get the most out of the DS's insane install base, but that's a lot of Pokemon games back-to-back.
@TJC04 Yeah, it probably didn't help that Black and White were released after D/P/P as well as the Gen II remakes. Black and White also released pretty close to the launch of the 3DS. I'm sure none of that helped the Gen V numbers.
I can’t imagine a lot of their games being a good experience on smartphones unless they released some sort of official peripheral that allows for non-touch controls.
It looks adorable, but I'm not usually a big fan of having to constantly switch through multiple characters in games like this. I'll be interested to see what reviews say about that mechanic and might purchase if the flow of gameplay doesn't seem to be bogged down too much from it.
I’m still hoping for a coffee shop, but these are some big updates! They timed this perfectly, since most people who bought it at launch seem to be getting to the stage where they’ve unlocked all the main features and are just maintaining their island at this point.
If anyone wants a more thorough clean than what a dry cloth can provide, I've had great luck with Windex Electronics Wipes. I use them for my keyboards, phone, game controllers, and Switch system.
@Chlocean Best to just hit the ignore button on that user. A quick look at their profile tells me they'd rather make inflammatory statements that get people riled up rather than discuss video games in any sort of reasonable way.
I have a feeling it'll see a big increase in sales once Switch systems are back on store shelves. I have many friends who wanted to buy a Switch just for this game, and you can't find a new Switch at most stores within 50 miles of my city.
I really wish I would have gotten Ring Fit Adventure before the pandemic hit and prices skyrocketed. Fitness Boxing is great once I actually get the motivation to fire it up, but it's not necessarily something I look forward to playing like I would with a game that has an actual story.
@TAndvig If we're being technical, they do everything for clicks because they have to make money to live and to keep the website running. This article covers a topic that appeals to the site's audience, so it makes sense they would publish it.
Whether or not we should put much faith in leaks would be a more productive conversation.
The lore in ARMS is really intriguing, so I've been looking forward to the comic. This makes me hopeful that an ARMS 2 is in the works. I'd love an actual story/adventure mode in a sequel.
@Bliquid to be fair, I think there are many parents who would take issue with their seven-year-old playing a game that talks about kicking someone's ass. Also, one of the screenshots mentions being "lubed up," and it's pretty clear what it's implying there. Beyond the age rating, many parents could buy this game for their kids because it looks very cartoony and kid friendly.
With that being said, I think the game looks like a lot of fun. I've been wanting to play a dungeon crawler ever since I played the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon demo.
While I'd like to see all the starters in the game, I'm glad they at least added in the rest of the Kanto starters. Having only the Charmander line without Squirtle and Bulbasaur felt really weird.
I actually had tremendous fun with Happy Home Designer. I loved being able to set up/decorate buildings other than houses, which I'm hoping will be implemented in New Horizons as you develop the island.
@Smashfan502 villagers will eventually move out if you let them or ignore them, and part of the fun is seeing who will move in to take their place. I suppose it’s kind of like the thrill of a loot crate without the micro transactions.
@Xylnox assuming this game is like the previous entries, only a certain number of villagers can live in your village (or island, in this case) at a given time. The last few entries have capped that number at 10 and each one has their own house.
This game actually makes a lot of sense to speedrun when you think about it. I just hope people aren't hurting themselves with bad form when they speed through the exercises.
Wow, I'm feeling old. I remember my mom showing me an advertisement of the games in a newspaper before they released. Lugia's been my favorite legendary ever since I saw the cover art of the games in that ad.

Re: This 3D All-Stars Bug Allows You To Complete A Mario Sunshine Mission In Less Than 10 Seconds
I ran into this glitch, or at least a very similar one. I was only about halfway through cleaning up the goop before the mission completed.
I wish they’d have worked on fixing the many glitches in Sunshine for this rerelease, but I love the game nonetheless.
