Console-wise, definitely the 3DS. It was just a fancy system for me to play all my DS games on for way too long, but it’s thankfully one of my favorite consoles of all time now.
Game-wise, Mario 3D All Stars is the first to come to mind. All the news about it being a limited release made me think I had to preorder it or miss out due to scalpers and such. And I’m STILL seeing it on store shelves to this day.
I voted for North America mostly because I can’t decide whether I like the Japan design. It almost feels more like teaser art for an upcoming Mario Golf game than it does the game’s actual box art.
I can’t stand how companies try to make everything into a subscription service these days. They like to claim it’s for your convenience, but it’s mostly just for all the extra money they make from people who forget to cancel.
There’s really no point in trying to have some sort of timeline for a game like Kirby or even Zelda, in my opinion. It just limits what they can do in future games if they’re always trying to piece things together between games.
I remember my mind being blown that I was playing a game like this on a handheld. I never understood the hand cramp complaints until I tried replaying it using a 3DS XL—holy cow was that uncomfortable!
A lot of people are complaining about the disclaimer, but this is one of the most civil and on-topic comment sections I’ve seen in a long time (especially for one that has over 100 comments). Nicely done, NL.
Looking forward to seeing how this runs on Switch compared to other consoles.
I wouldn’t mind personally. It made sense in Legends because catching the same species over and over is necessary to complete the Pokédex. But I absolutely hope the seamless transitions between battles and overworld become a series standard.
@valcoholic if you liked TTYD, you’ll like this game. TTYD has a bit more of a grand plot while PM64 follows a more typical Mario storyline, but both have similar gameplay mechanics and fun partners.
I’m extremely tired of the drip-feed approach they take with every console generation. Paper Mario 64 is one of my favorite games of all time, but its NSO announcement didn’t excite me at all. I’ll just fire up my Wii U if I want to play it.
I went ahead and downloaded Mario Party Superstars even though I usually buy physical, and I’m so glad I did. It’s fantastic and will be great to have ready to play when I have people over.
@Yosher the comments in these old articles have been a trip down memory lane, it’s fun remembering people who used to be regulars and seeing people who still comment today.
I’ve always felt this game was created with kids in mind, so I don’t view the hand-holding and lack of difficulty as a negative. I was really young during the N64 era, and this was one of the few games where I remember being able to beat the story mode.
I’m kind of surprised they didn’t tweak the controls if it was such an issue in the past. Like they could’ve made it so players have to press A, B, Y, and X in a circular clockwise motion instead or something.
I feel like the next Smash will really shake things up now that we’ve gotten the ultimate version of what we currently know as Smash Bros. I personally wouldn’t mind the roster getting scaled back if it meant beefing up other parts of the game, like the single-player campaign.
I bought this game on eBay earlier this year to relive some childhood memories, and I fully intended to resell it once I was finished since it’s way too expensive. But I just can’t bring myself to sell it, it’s too good.
I never understood people’s complaints about discomfort while playing this until I tried replaying it a year ago using my New 3DS XL. Holy cow, the size/weight of the XL model caused so much hand cramping.
I’m fortunate enough to have a copy of TTYD, and this is such an amazing chapter in it. The hype of the wrestling league mixed with the intrigue of the detective work are such a great combination.
I think the target audience for it will be tough because people who really care about visuals probably play in docked mode when they can. And the bigger screen means it’ll be even less portable than the regular Switch model already is.
All that being said, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t intrigued by it.
This is the only 3D Zelda game I’ve not played, so I’m excited to get to play it. I nearly bought it on the Wii U eShop since it’s only $20, but man I hate motion controls.
The new kickstand is nice for people who use it since the original one is pretty terrible. But these minimal changes are a tough sell for me since I’ve primarily been playing in docked mode due to the JoyCon drift.
There wasn’t much revealed that I’m personally interested in, but I’m happy Metroid and WarioWare fans are getting some new releases. I’m just hoping the lack of New Pokémon Snap news doesn’t mean we won’t be getting DLC in the future.
Wow, I was just looking into getting Ghost Trick on the DS! As much as I hate playing games on my phone, those prices are way better than what the DS cartridge is going for on eBay.

@Anachronism Haha I thought the same thing. Love the games, but the plots are all over the place.
Re: Feature: What's Your Biggest Nintendo Launch Day Regret?
@Jayenkai I never heard of Pen Pen and had to look it up…kinda reminds me of Snowboard Kids except very very slow lol

Re: Random: Another Look At The Super Mario Galaxy DS Fan Project
It’s impressive, but all I can imagine is how awful it would be to play this with the screen size of the original DS and DS Lite lol
Re: Random: Princess Peach Could've Looked Very Different According To Scrapped Merch
I really like the second pic, she looks floaty which fits really well with her ability to float in some games like Smash Bros.

Re: Best Remakes And Remasters On Nintendo Switch
I sometimes forget the Link’s Awakening remake exists, but now I have the urge to go back and replay it. Such a satisfying game to play.

Re: Review: EarthBound - A Quirky, Cosmic Adventure Bound To Warm Your Heart
@Funneefox I agree, the beginning is pretty rough with how unforgiving it is. But it gets SO much better when you’re past that part.
Re: Feature: Our Totally Infallible Predictions For Hisui Forms In Pokémon Legends: Arceus
I’d rather they hold off on doing anything with Raikou, Entei, and Suicune so they can save them for a Pokémon Legends: Ho-Oh down the road.

I’ve always wanted to play this, but it’s never been high on my priority list. Super excited about this!

Re: Nintendo Employee Tells Fans To Stick With The Current Switch, If They're Not "Digging" The OLED Screen
At least the guy’s being honest. I wonder if the announcement today was done without much hype so people wouldn’t mistake it for being a pro model.

Some of the controls in that footage look a bit too floaty (particularly the jumping), but I’m very much looking forward to this game.
