New Pokémon Snap is honestly the most fun I’ve had with a game in years. My only complaint with the scoring system is that it doesn’t always do great when there are multiple Pokémon in a photo. I’ve had a few instances where it decided to score a background Pokémon instead of the Pokémon I focused on in the photo.

Something about Sudowoodo living its best life in a plant shop is hilarious to me.

I really enjoyed this game but sadly never finished it due to the difficulty spike that happens when you get to the final boss.

I think I’m one of like 12 people who actually likes the Chikorita line, so I love this. It’s refreshing to see a Pokémon that’s not Pikachu or Charizard get some love.

@Crono1973 What about it doesn’t feel right? The slightly yellow color the GamePad gives games has never bothered me much, but a controls issue would be a different story.

I need to buy Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass on my Wii U before its online services inevitably get shut down. Never got around to playing them, and it’s cheaper on the eShop than it would be to buy the DS cartridges.

Saw this and thought this game got a Switch remake. Oh well, maybe someday.

Minish Cap has my favorite visuals of any 2D Zelda, everything on the screen just pops so well.

I never had a lot of the discomfort issues people complained about while playing this game on my original 3DS back in the day. But I recently tried replaying it on a New 3DS XL, and my hand started cramping pretty badly after about 15 minutes. It didn’t feel like there was a good way to hold the bigger system. It’s a shame because this game has a lot to benefit from being played on a bigger screen.

Oh man, Pokémon Dash was my first DS game as a kid, and it’s honestly one of the least interesting games I’ve played. And I feel like Pokémon Channel was a great game as long as you were younger when it came out. Looking back at it as an adult, it’s...repetitive to put it kindly.

Pokémon Conquest is one of my favorite games ever, it definitely doesn’t deserve to be forgotten.

Such a good point, there are plenty of games I love that I had initially written off when they were revealed (e.g., Pokémon Conquest).

It's pretty damn sad that I could enter a same-sex "joined union" in The Sims 2 in 2004, but a game in 2021 acts like LGBTQ+ folks don't even exist.

Neither one is particularly great, but I at least appreciate how the box art looks a little bit like the visuals in the actual game. I remember feeling misled by the game covers of so many SNES and Genesis games as a kid.

@outsider83 Yeah, there was actually a lot of free DLC that came after launch (1/3 of the roster wasn’t available at launch). Single player content is a bit lacking regardless, but I can’t help but wonder if the game would’ve gained at least a little more traction if it had launched with all 15 fighters available from the start.

That’s a shame but really not at all surprising. ARMS has some surprisingly intriguing lore, and I hope it’s built on in the future.

Recently finished replaying this one on my Wii U, such a gem of a game. Thankful I have the ability to at least play it on there.

@msvt That’s awesome you started playing them as an adult, I feel like most people who didn’t play them growing up write the series off as being too kiddish.

I’d highly recommend picking up one of the Johto games, they’re the best in the series in my opinion. HG/SS might be more up your ally since you started with the later games, but G/S/C are still fantastic and readily available on the 3DS eShop.

Johto really was something special. I was never tempted to buy Let’s Go Eevee/Pikachu, but I’d absolutely buy a Let’s Go Togepi.

It honestly seems like it could be a good laugh with some friends and a few drinks.

I’m pleasantly surprised at these comments so far, this is the side of NL I like to see.

I hope the people who buy the game end up enjoying it, but yeah I can’t bring myself to support developers who use such a bad excuse for not including same-sex marriage as an option.

I love how something so seemingly simple like this will lead to so much more creativity in how people design their islands.

@CosmoXY The gaming community can be really toxic, especially when it comes to anything related to Pokémon on this site’s comments section. It sucks, but at least the top comments on YouTube seem mostly positive.

I wonder if any of these environments were pulled from New Pokémon Snap. The underwater Lanturn scene in particular looked really similar to the Chinchou scene we saw in the game trailer.

The art style threw me off at first, but I think the Sinnoh towns and cities would look awkward if they used the Sword/Shield graphics since they’re so small and don’t have many buildings in them.

I actually love a lot of these results. I grew up with Gen 1 but get so tired of the same handful of Kanto Pokémon always being given love over the others.

I think it only makes sense for them to focus on one of the not as popular games in the series before announcing the heavy hitters like Wind Waker or Ocarina. Kind of like how they released New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe a few months before Mario Maker 2.

Personally, I’ve never played SS and am very excited about it. I can’t see myself double-dipping on Wind Waker or Twilight Princess when I’ve got them on my Wii U.

@RadioHedgeFund Even if that were the case, MK64 has been available on Wii U for years.

I prefer NA/EU by a long shot, but I’m not at all a fan of either cover here. In my opinion, the box art from the original N64 game (any region) blows both of these out of the water.

Really appreciate this video, Jon’s been a great addition to the NL team! I’ve actually been booting up my Wii U to download games that might be hard to come by once the system’s online services eventually get shut down. Definitely gonna get SMB3 now.

@KateGray I spent more time beefing my chaos up for (what felt like) the Olympics than I did playing the base game!

They announced this game way too soon. I know doing that makes people happy in the short term, but it ends up agitating people in the long run. But I’d still rather they take their time and release a quality product.

I’m a sucker for N64/GameCube-era platformers and thought it might appeal to me...but wow that gameplay looks stiff. I’ll still see what the reviews say, but I’ve definitely lost a lot of interest.

@FredsBodyDouble The only other 3D Mario game in this type of linear style is 3D Land, and it’s definitely not necessary to play that before playing 3D World.

@citizen_zane It’s not an actual bridge, they used terraforming to connect both sides of the river and then added fencing and a path pattern. The effect would be ruined if you walked away from the center of the “bridge,” but it’s still extremely creative!

@urrutiap The last two Pokémon remakes have included a lot of the content from the original games’ upgraded third version (e.g., HG/SS included the Suicune subplot from Crystal). I’d be shocked if these remakes don’t include the new areas Platinum introduced, such as the Distortion World.

@Kalmaro I was curious about that too and decided to google “mirror tree.” It’s apparently a technique used by genealogists to trace ancestors. I might be reaching too far here, but that could be really clever if this game has Mew as a major plot point like the first Pokémon Snap did.

I know it’s a fingerprint magnet, but I absolutely love the look of the original aqua blue 3DS. Such a flashy piece of hardware, and the cake-like layers are fun.

I’ll probably wait for Pink Gold Lederhosen Luigi to be released.

Looks like it has a lot of nods to Sunshine, and since Sunshine is my favorite 3D Mario game, I’m definitely getting this now. Plus the Battle of the Furries at the end looks pretty epic.

I had fun with it on the Wii U, but I can’t justify buying again when it’s already sitting on my shelf unless the new content is substantial.

Part of me misses getting a new game, having to enter codes into Club Nintendo, and completing those little surveys. At least the rewards were better.

I’m hoping they call it the Super Switch as a throwback to the SNES. But we’ll probably get a New Nintendo Switch or (god help us) a Switch U.

It’s either just a joke, or else the bit of power they get as a moderator has gone to their head in a really strange way.

I’m loving the Yoshi’s Story music in the background. It’d be fun if they added in some kind of target shooting as a throwback to Yoshi’s Safari.
