I guess we'll see how well this goes... I remember Dead or Alive 6 moved away from the fanservice and it feels more like it got Thanos'd than just falling off the map, since that's what made it stand out over say Tekken.
Why can't devs just be allowed to work on one game at a time? Or why can't the higher ups give them the budget to hire more employees to either work on multiple projects or increase the speed at which they're completed? I have to wonder how many great games have been cancelled or ruined recently because of incompetent management & treatment of devs.
@Snatcher I made it to Masters in the crappy Solo Que once just to make a point, but even outside Ranked it's just frustrating to lose for a really stupid reason.
I like Unite, but it's so hard to not get mad because of 1 bad Teammate and or losing for a stupid reason to ruin the whole experience. Because you can never be good enough to fix it effectively being a 4v5 in a very teamwork-heavy game.
Glad we're finally getting another Defender though. Feels like we got a few early on and then the rest were All-Rounders or Attackers up 'til recently.
Better idea: They scrap mobile apps like Pokemon Sleep all together and use that money for more devs for the main games, either for GameFreak themselves or Creatures Inc. to make more models to add more Pokemon to the games.
The mobile game stuff is pure filler as usual, the Netflix show and TCG news are fine, & the surprise Raids and DLC announcements were surprising and predictable respectively. But even though nothing was promised, I was so sad to see no PMD or NSO news when I woke up, even if it was just Red Rescue Team coming to the GBA app, or the Stadium games getting released for N64 app.
This review feels like it was written by someone who both never played RPGs and knows 'n cares nothing about the IP it's based on... if/when CoD comes to Switch they'll have someone who only likes puzzle games and hates anything fast paced review the series from that point on.
Gonna have to be much more selective of games I buy from Nintendo if they're jumping on the $70 bandwagon too. They feel like the only game company on the planet that doesn't have sales, let alone good ones or just price cuts for old games.
I'd be okay with them working on smaller games if their bread & butter that's the biggest IP on the plant met the already lower standards of the Switch hardware. If only they had more than 20-ish employees to split between multiple projects so that Pokemon and original ideas could flourish together.
Greninja probably. There's only so many Pokemon coded in that aren't in the game (or just Regional Forms), and Poison seems more Greninja than Inteleon or Rillaboom.
Imagine complaining about other "mega-brands" in gaming when you're literally one of the companies that's known for the focusing almost exclusively on their same 4-5 mega brands and leaving everything else to rot. You'd think with the popularity of retro games & collections right now, an HD Collection of the first 3 Rayman games as a budget release would be easy money. But nope, all or nothing on Assassin's Creed & just Dance as usually.
The Switch is an amazing console, and I think the best course of action would just be to improve it from here from now on and carry the library over. Same gimmick, just improved hardware and software to match.
My only problem with digital media is developers can choose to not only de-list their games, which in some cases is understandable with licenses expiring, but completely removing them from the storefronts to redownload even if you've purchased them. Nintendo quietly removing Tropical Freeze from the Wii U eShop overnight is just unforgivable.
@EaglyTheKawaiiShika They didn't say 2022 was terrible... is implying that 2022 could be improved upon in any way a bad thing? I can't tell if you're toxic or overly defensive, but you accomplished coming off as both. Nice way to start a new year, though why bother existing when no year past 2022 will have meaning.
As far as exclusives go it was pretty average all things considered - some high highs like Kirby and the Forgotten Land, some mixed bags like Pokemon SV, & some disappointments like Switch Sports. Didn't lean too much one way or the other.
@WoomyNNYes Sony paid Capcom to have it not be on anything but PlayStation & PC. It'd be like complaining every Bayo game past 1 or Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 are only on Switch - yeah it sucks, but Nintendo's the one who paid to make them happen, so it's their choice if it comes to anything else.
We all know a Simpsons Collection would sell just by allowing people to own the arcade game w/o it being removed after a few years, the other games would just be icing on the cake. But even more than that I'd love to see a collection of old Marvel games: the X-Men Beat 'Em Up, X-Men vs SF to Marvel vs Capcom 2, all the Avengers, Spider-Man, & Punisher games, the painful Silver Surfer and LJN X-Men game - there's so much they could do with that. Heck, make 2 Collections - one for the arcade games, the other for console ones. ... Sadly that won't likely happen because of all the red tape involved in licensing between so many companies.
@90sRetroGaming Ah, that's disappointing. Even if they don't wanna have matchmaking, I'd be 100% fine with only private lobbies to play with a friend. Dunno anything about game design but I'd imagine it being easier to make invite-only online than broad matchmaking. If that was an alternative, I think most would be fine with that for TMNT II: The Arcade Game and even the Genesis & NES versions of Tournament Fighters.
My biggest complaint about the collection was that only 4 games were playable online - I was so happy to see this randomly update today. I hope to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game added to the online after The Manhattan Project. I can understand only wanting 1 version of Tournament Fighters, but ya gotta have all the co-op Beat 'Em Ups with that option!
It's also worth noting the original Street Fighter for Capcom Arcade Stadium 2 showed up in listings for Free DLC/Adds-ons at the same time as Final Fight, so keep yours eyes out for that too.
For those of you not following, Sony is losing their mind over CoD, to the point where most are convinced if Microsoft was buying every part of Activision except CoD they wouldn't care. They've already been told it'll remain Multiplatform and they won't cancel or alter the pre-existing remaining deal for timed exclusivity for DLCs/add-ons (which they didn't do for Deathloop or Ghostwire: Tokyo after buying Bethesda), but Sony's not having it. And handing Nintendo the same offer Sony shunned is gonna make the FTC likely to lean more in their favor in some way.
As much as I'd love to see all the Activision-Blizzard games possible be part of Game Pass, at this point I just want the deal to either go through or be denied just to stop hearing about it.
If you ever read through any of Sony's counters for why the deal shouldn't go through, you know they only care about and only mention Call of Duty - if they were buying everything excluding the 3 dev teams that make it & the IP itself, they wouldn't care about the rest, just like with all the other companies Microsoft has bought already. The way it is now, PS gets stuff for CoD a little earlier than Xbox, and the idea of that being reversed or removing the practice is driving them insane.
It was Colosseum when I was 5 - my mom rented it from Blockbuster and helped me play through it since it was a bit tougher... in fact we ended up buying it from that Blockbuster to keep eventually. Still have it with the printer-paper manual & non-mini disc game case you'd expect from Blockbuster, but even with the disc's wear 'n tear, she still works just fine.
At this point, I just want to be able to play Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2 on modern consoles... again. They got re-releases on PS4 & Xbox One that were somehow buggier and less functional than the originals, but those were also taken down, and only released digitally. (Same for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron).
I feel there's a good game in there, but it feels almost soulless. I hope they learn from from their mistakes, and what MultiVersus is doing right, mainly with the voice acting. Instead of just re-recoding some classic lines and adding some generic ones, MultiVersus really nailed it adding specific character interactions, adding a lot of personality to what could've been a rather bland game.
Wonder if this will only happen once, be repeated 'n built upon in later years, or just be added to the game like Animal Crossing. If not that's gonna blow for anyone who doesn't have it rn.
@Clyde_Radcliffe You think people notice anything about their characters under layers of armor in Dark Souls, The Elder Scrolls, or Fallout? No, but it's still an option.
The Bandai leak from earlier this year, most of which has been true, specified Cyber Sleuth 2 iirc. Since it won't be a PS Vita original this time around, I'm hoping it'll have a bigger budget and things like voice acting, better translations, & cross-platform at launch (still hoping Xbox gets Complete Edition & Next Order).
Aside from new Story & World games, I'm not sure what they could do other than remakes. An MMO? Maybe, but Digimon Masters Online is still going, even though it's bad I don't think they'd release one while that's still going. A new Rumble World? I've only heard anything good about the first game. New mobile games? Eh.
720p, unstable 30 FPS, blurry textures - is this a game in 2022 or an Xbox 360-PS3 game from 2009? I know we don't play Pokémon for the graphics, but when it's this bad it detracts from it even if you just care about the gameplay.
Don't do annual releases - give these games & concepts more time to bake. Fill the gap in-between with spin-offs, in-game Events, updates, & and an occasional remake. I would rather have 1 good main game that gets updates and DLC along with various spin-offs every 3 years than what we get now. I consider the Golden Age of Pokémon Gens 3-5... the main games, spin-offs, remakes - all of them were so good. At least they can't take those away, though TPC & community are doing their damnedest to make them hard to play w/o emulating...
I've loving that more people will get to play these great Digimon games. Fingers crossed Xbox will get this & Cyber Sleuth Complete Edition too - no one should be left out.
@Bolt_Strike I agree it was the draw, it's part of the reason I still go back to Battle Revolution on the Wii once and awhile. But you have to admit, it wasn't easy to progress past the first stage using your in-game Team (aside from the Facility with Rentals). So why not a direct problem, it's still a problem.
@Bret Making competitive 'Mons has come a long way over the years... but the fact that it's still incredibly tedious even with all the advancements and so reliant on RNG makes me almost think they want it to be. Like Bottle Caps & Nature Mints could've been a big help, but the only way to get them was through a lot of BP, which required either a ton of grinding, or B, competitive Pokémon to reduce the grind. But if you have competitive 'Mons already you're not a person who needs them.
@Bret They don't have the Battle Frontier because they claim not enough people used it to bother. Not as many people used it because making competitive Pokémon is one of the most tedious things ever. GameFreak barely improves the grind for making competitive 'Mons each Gen for little to no reason, fueling their own reason for not bothering to include the Battle Frontier.
A new Mystery Dungeon, Pokken, Pinball, Rumble, Conquest, Ranger (if that could work with Joycons), TCG Game, Stadium (that focuses solely on graphic & animations) - the lack of spin-offs is one of my biggest complaints about modern Pokémon. There were so many during Gens 3-4 and they were soooo good too.
