Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is Getting Collabs With Lego, Splatoon, And Zelda

shoeses

Wish they didn't reskin Cece and Viché. Would've loved to still have them based on the Squid Sisters and gotten new Villagers for Shiver, Frye, Pearl, & Marina. Unless they have some form of unique dialogue, I wonder why they didn't do that or why they only chose Mineru and Tulin for LoZ stuff, since dialogue is determined by Personality Type and every Villager is essentially a reskin with the only changes being their pre-set phrases.

Re: Opinion: One Year On, Every Positive 'Pokémon TCG Pocket' Update Still Comes With A Catch

shoeses

By the end of the first year every Pokemon mobile game gets super formulaic and people tend to drop it. There's not really an incentive to keep Pulling if you have bad luck without any form of a Pity System, so I'm sure plenty of people just didn't Pull anything over a long period and uninstalled. The regular Pokemon TCG is already super RNG heavy even for a TCG, and who will Win in Pocket is usually determined by the Coin Flip and opening Hands. So there's no reason to swipe to Pull Meta cards.

Re: Nintendo's Trademarking 'Virtual Console' Again, But Don't Get Your Hopes Up

shoeses

I can see it coming back, but being limited to what's in the available NSO and Expansion Pak catalogs. Games you buy you can play without a Subscription or needing to be online under a new Virtual Console app, however since you still need the base NSO to play online and would have to re-buy the Expansion Pak for new games added, so it wouldn't cut into the profits made normally.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Patent Supposedly Points To Return Of DS Games

shoeses

Pretty much own every DS game that I'd want that could come to the service. Aside from Pokemon, DS is one of the consoles I love a lot of smaller games more than the AAA ones, and most of them are either licensed or just not expensive. (Seriously, Transformers 2007 DS: Autobots/Decepticon were basically San Andres w/ Transformers and it was amazing for the time.)

However, don't a good handful of DS games use the mic? How would that work?

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Pokémon Legends: Z-A

shoeses

@Bats1234 Maybe they expect more from it now that it is and has been the biggest IP on the planet for awhile, and not just a potential fad on the Gameboy. There's no reason GameFreak shouldn't be able to hire more employees or spend more time on the games when they're this big.

Well, unless the Nintendo portion of The Pokemon Company is actively ruining the product by not letting GameFreak do those things. Especially since GameFreak has made it apparent they want to do other things and know what fans want but aren't allowed to make changes. Almost like Nintendo just wants their own yearly game like CoD, but only have one studio do everything instead of 3 studios in rotation with 2 support teams like CoD has. And even CoD is going to every other year now.

Re: Pokémon Z-A's Source Code And Beta Builds Have Now Supposedly Leaked

shoeses

@Munchlax This. I find it really weird a lot of Nintendo fans will trash CoD and EA Sports games for being churned out yearly but just ignore the fact Pokemon does it too. Except where as something like CoD is 3 teams in rotation, minus BDSP Nintendo has GameFreak and GameFreak alone working on the conveyer belt.

Re: Round Up: The Latest Previews Are In For Pokémon Legends: Z-A

shoeses

I've lost all interest in Pokémon following the Palworld lawsuit, where Nintendo is doing anything in their power to make themselves and the brand look awful in a Disney-like fashion. And it is 100% Nintendo because GameFreak is aware of the changes people want and are being told no, and Creatures Inc wouldn't have that kind of sway. Hope people who are excited enjoy it, but I'll be playing Digimon Story Time Stranger instead.

Re: Anniversary: Celebrate Unova As Pokémon Black & White Turns 15

shoeses

Unlike the original Diamond Pearl, these games would be just fine with facelifts as they don't have many problems. The biggest two off the top of my head are that so many Pokemon Evolve at stupidly high Levels, which they won't change for a remake, and that it'd be really stupid to repeat BDSP's mistake of not making the Mystery Gifts permeant. Either make them regular eShop codes that tie to your Nintendo Account to keep, or just keep the codes up until the Switch's servers end.

Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment Gets New Trailer Revealing Some Save Data Surprises

shoeses

Wondering if these are actually locked behind save data like the Spinner in the Wii U Hyrule Warriors was with a Link amiibo or just early unlocks. Between them not being the most interesting weapons and assuming most people played both titles, I think it'd be fine if they were actually locked that way.

As great as the 'secret' performance boosts are, I'd still love official ones for the first two games. Although my OCD more so wants them to update the amiibo scans. Hyrule Warriors DE still uses the Wii U's mostly, so as an example it counts Toon Zelda and Young Link as just Zelda and Link instead of their respective characters, who were DLC originally. Then for Age of Calamity it considers the 4 TOTK Champions as generics instead of giving specific rewards, even though 3 of them and one of their dads are playable and use the same weapons. They don't release amiibo nearly as much as they used to, so you'd think this would be a good time to do something like this since they're actively working on related projects.

Re: Nintendo Direct September 2025: Every Announcement, Game Reveal, Trailer

shoeses

As someone with tempered expectations, it was one of the best Directs in a while, because it did exactly what it needed to. It told us about the rest of the big releases for 2025, some more new things for 2025, and things to know about for 2026. Not everything was something you wanted to hear, like Mario Wonder's Switch 2 content being about Co-op and Multiplayer or them already announcing DLC for ZA before the game releases, but it was at least new info.

Re: Round Up: 6 Switch 1 & 2 Games We Played At PAX - Here's What We Thought

shoeses

An RPG with town building and sim elements could be really cool if executed properly. You go from a few random houses to a village to a town to a city, and while growing you're doing things like defending the place from monsters, gathering resources, recruiting and training NPCs, etc. Almost like That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime but as gameplay that can change each playthrough, in the Octopath world.

And while I get why people are upset it's just Octopath in name only, I wouldn't want it to be Octopath 3 so soon. Give us a big gap between them like 1 & 2 so they feel special. Experiment with Spin-Offs and side games in-between like The Pokémon Company used to do before the Switch.

Re: Feature: 32 Games We're Dying To See On Switch 2

shoeses

@MrGawain This. If people are interested in those games, most don't wait a decade or longer for them to come to a Nintendo system. Switch & Switch 2 are a little different with the portability factor, but it's still a pretty small group still.

Re: First Impressions: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Is An Attempt To Catch The Hardcore Again

shoeses

They've been trying to recapture the attention of people who dropped out after Gen 2-4 for awhile now, with things like Megas, Regional Forms, Kanto Gigantimax forms, & another remake of Kanto. But ultimately the most interest I've seen those people express in Pokémon was for Legends Arceus and New Pokémon Snap. They were interested in Legends because it was something new, but even if they did like it, repeating it with some tweaking is not it. And New Pokémon Snap was because people want Spin-Offs that aren't mobile games, but nothing was learned it seems.
