If they have to make a bunch of specialized changes for each DS game, it'd probably take just as much time and effort to make Remasters that use most of the same coding with minor changes and new graphics, like BDSP. But there's a lot of DS and Wii games and IPs we just won't see again because the hardware was so unique.
My Top 5 would just be the Pokemon games, though while I like HGSS and the changes it made, Johto is still really a really lame experience for me personally. It shares a lot of the same problems as DP/BDSP like most of the new Pokemon being a bad combination of post-game, Baby Pokemon, Roaming, etc.
Some of the more random games I enjoyed were Transformers 2007 & War for Cybertron Autobots/Decepticons DS, Petz Rescue: Ocean Patrol, and Spectrobes & Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals.
Wouldn't surprise me if it could've released on Switch already, but they're holding off to release it on both old and new hardware, and really focusing on making the Switch 2 version run much better to show off the new system.
It so bizarre to me Takashi Iizuka thinks nobody would want a standalone Chao Garden game when people have been screaming for one for years, but thinks people want Sonic Advance Remasters. 3 pretty average games that'd probably sell just as well if not better in a Collection, either on there own or in one with other handheld games like Sonic Rivals on the PSP, or just dumped onto the NSO Expansion Pak.
Yugioh's dabbled with advent calendars before, and they were a neat thing for kids. A Flash Platformer would be nostalgic, but price is gonna be a big factor.
@Serpenterror Actually it very well might be them releasing multiple or a much broader collection, considering they're also delisting a good handful of Dreamcast etc. ports from Xbox and Steam, but not all of them.
I really have to assume Nintendo's the reason Pokemon's in such a sorry state. None of the money is seemingly going back into GameFreak or the IP in general, so what other possibility could it be other than Nintendo's pocketing most of it? And despite Palworld playing more liked Ark but with monsters instead of dinosaurs, the fact that it was white hot popular for a minute and people were comparing it to Pokemon got them scared that their easy money would potentially get threatened to some degree, to the point they had to make up a reason to go after Palworld.
Pretty much every Nintendo IP but Pokemon is at all all time high, or at least released one of the best entries in a long time during the Switch's lifetime.
A lot of people making indirect, bold accusations of Nintendo forgetting they're the ones who originally put in that booba slider for a 13yo. Maybe you should voice your disgust by not buying their games period since you seem to have a problem with it, and most Japanese games in general since they have similar things in them. It's almost like Japan and the West are different cultures, and they're desensitized to sexual stuff in the same way the West is desensitized to the most disgusting gore imaginable.
Even if it's a case where all the Rangers unlock different stuff later on, the base game being more expensive than the Ultimate Edition of the phenomenal Shredder's Revenge with both the DLCs is a big oof. If it gets good reviews I'll still have to pass until a reasonable sale, as the Switch especially isn't lacking in good Beat 'Em Ups.
@LikelySatan The Outer Worlds was made before they were bought by Microsoft though and in production before anything spicier than tofu was fine. Dustborn is almost an inverse of what I'm talking about, being from a small group in the spotlight, but people were mocking it rather than demanding it be changed or taken down.
And yeah, humor is difficult and not every joke or type of humor is going to land with everyone. But a vocal minority that the big companies appeal to who don't know that are the ones saying what can or can't be funny. Which is just a branch of the issue of why everything in media feels so stifled in creativity and cookie cutter safe.
@HeadPirate It's crazy companies now don't realize the value of smaller exclusives in that $10-40 range. Nintendo has dozens of IPs within dozens of IPs and only sometimes do smaller projects, and you'd think Microsoft would be foaming at the mouth for Studios like Tango Gameworks that could help fill out the massive gaps in Game Pass releases.
@Samalik Exactly. KI 2013 as a Fighting Game would super benefit for the boost in player count being on more systems, resurging the count on PC and Xbox too. And something like Battletoads 2020 just works better on a console that both comes with 2 controllers and is portable.
What's truly mind blowing though is Microsoft didn't port more games like this first, instead jumping from the first batch to what people were saying was gonna be THE Xbox-exclusive of 2024 in Indy. Then making the surprised Pikachu face when Xbox owners were mad the big exclusive of the year for them was only for 3 months before coming to PS5.
@LikelySatan @Gryffin While these are very good points, none of those games are overseen by any major game Devs or Publishers, and therefore are immune to any kind of social media nonsense. And I have to imagine Comic Jumper alone from Twisted Pixel's lineup would make them collectively screech to the heavens.
@Anachronism Unless they remaster the collection of remasters, you don't want it in its current and presumable final state. Filled with cheaters on PC and practically dead if you're searching for all but the most vanilla Game Modes.
@Toastmaster "To me it looks like you care 0% about any Xbox game. If you cared, you would have owned them already. Easy math." Well considering I've owned Xboxes since the 360 you're pretty bad at easy math. Maybe try to understand the simple mentality of wanting more people to be able to play more games before you get on your soapbox.
@Anti-Matter I'd say a Twisted Pixel Collection of what were mostly XBLA-exclusives would be cool, but jokes are banned in 2024 and I can't imagine games with that sense of humor being allowed to exist now.
Killer Instinct 2013 and Battletoads 2020 would be choices that'd get minimal flak from Xbox fans if they were ported. They reworked/added Cross-Play to KI in one of the more recent updates so I'd assume it's going to happen, if not for Switch than PS5 and Switch 2, and I'd argue Battletoads would be a better fit on Switch than Xbox since it's Local Co-Op only.
@MrHaggi A Lego Zelda would just feel so natural since Lego games are already puzzles, action, and a bit of Platforming. There'd be plenty of characters to unlock and jokes and jabs to make at the series that'd fit the Lego humor well.
@GamingFan4Lyf It really makes me wish review sites had more than 1 person review each game, since not everything is for everyone and even just one or two more people might give a wider range of opinions. Because if not sometimes you get ridiculous situations, like choosing people who hate Rick & Morty to review a game by the Rick & Morty writers, which they obviously won't like and that's your one review.
The quality of a Lego game following a pre-established story (baring bugs and the like) depends on how well they balance the length and pace of the source with that of the gameplay. Which tends to be a big issue with the ones based on only one or two movies resulting in bloat for both elements, but this time it's based on games. Which means the end result will be interesting at the very least. Sony really needs a W right now, so for their sake I hope they don't fumble and step on this Lego.
I would love for the people to explain how 4Kids tier changes make the game better or why it was necessary. Because all I see are people who don't like it and people who don't like those people, not anyone who actually likes the changes or can say why they were needed. Because not caring about these changes while they're minor is what allows them to escalate to a point of no return, where by the time you do care it's too late. And that's how you get to the current state of Ubisoft.
Sounds about right for an Outright Games Licensed title - the stories they make are decent to good, but the gameplay is so horribly executed you don't care. The resurgence of Turtle games makes me want Ubisoft to port Turtles in Time Re-Shelled with some fixes like they did the Scott Pilgrim game. It might seem weird now that the original is widely available, but it works as it's own thing and a neat history piece. I'm sure Ubisoft could use the easy money too.
@JohnnyMind The lack of spin-offs is also really hurting the series. More spin-offs would allow more time in-between main game releases, but all we get now are terrible mobile games. The entire Switch Gen we only got 1 new spin-off (New Snap), 1 spin-off port (Pokken DX), and 1 spin-off Remaster (Rescue Team DX), the rest were F2P/Mobile. Which is insane because even excluding things that couldn't/wouldn't happen again like Ranger and Colosseum, there's plenty of things they could be doing as full or budget releases, and just don't for some reason.
I really hope the Switch 2 doesn't force updated software to the front and keep it there - the OCD is strong and having to enter 'n exit 12 things I use because 1 got scrolled off drives me up a wall.
More changes made for people who don't buy games. If anything the censorship makes LESS sense because more women both play games now and also want to see sexy women in them too like the men. It's almost like... certain groups in the industry are only there to burn it down from the inside, and certain groups are so, SOOO easily manipulated into helping them doing it every time.
@RobbEJay Was talking about the one for Emblems etc that's always there. You're not paying for pulls with the other one either, you're paying for die rolls for a random number. Which they're open about and is very much still paying for something directly.
@Samalik The closest to gamba is the Prize Machine, which you can't spend real or fake money on. You can only unlock more 'pulls' from it by actually playing. Everything in the game that costs money is a direct transaction with no element of chance - you choose what you want, you pay for it, you get it.
@Bigmanfan You think I don't know how to redownload a game? It doesn't appear in my Redownload section plain and simple, but everything else since I've bought the Wii U did like normal.
@retrokid104 Because it was mainstream popular, everyone was talking about it. And another monster game being hot for 15 minutes scared them with the current opinion of the series.
Nintendo's the only company that's taken away my ability to redownload a game so far. They gave me Tropical Freeze for free via Nintendo Rewards and were like 'nah we want you to buy this on Switch, yoink'. Most companies just don't want new people to buy the old version and delist that version, but that wasn't enough for Nintendo.
Yo-Kai Watch did what most new IPs trying to be a company's Pokemon do - burn out the players by releasing new games way too fast, usually back-to-back year releases. Not realizing that Pokemon can do that because it's Nintendo's CoD.

Re: Talking Point: With 'Switch 2' Coming, Will Switch Get A Price Cut?
Nah, Nintendo doesn't discount things anymore. The stores themselves will discount them to make room though while in stock.

Not biting until they give us the RSE and FRLG. But if/when they give those, I'm not letting go of the service.
Re: It's Official, 'Switch 2' Will Be Backwards Compatible
Day One buy for me. Having your library carry over should be the norm if companies are gonna push digital.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Xenoblade Chronicles X For Switch?
The Xenoblade games seem to go on sale a tiny bit more often than Nintendo other IPs, so I'll probably pick it up just to have it when that happens.
Re: Review: Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket (Mobile) - A Breezy, Beautiful Take On TCG, Gacha Aside
@Samalik It's more like Duel Links both in terms of the simplified gameplay and limited cardpool. And the horrible grind and monitization, of course.

Can we get actual Pokemon spin-offs please? The Switch in it's 8 years only got 3 real ones, and only one of those was original.
