@kmtrain83 I never got to play Conquest but would if it got a remake. Does it do anything with the other screen on the DS like Ranger or would it be an easy to do thing like PMD?
Please let this do good so we get more Pokémon Spin-Offs. Even if they're not originals like Pokopia I'll take new Mystery Dungeon, Pinball, & Pokken entries in a heartbeat.
@Metazoxan You're misunderstanding. When I say 'two way Home Compatibility' I'm talking similarly to how it works with Let's GO. Just the ability to deposit Pokemon from FRLG to Home back into FRLG, so you can Trade through the GTS or deposit them from one of your own copies to the other, then put them back. It's a problem they long made a solution to.
@contractcooker That's the first response that makes complete and total sense for both the separate language versions and online not being added, because of the Game Corner and Age Rating changes. Don't think it explains why they couldn't make it two way Home Compatible, but at least it makes a bit more sense now. Thanks.
@AussieMcBucket There's a new Location called the Sevi Islands in FRLG. You can access one before the post-game that only has Kanto 'Mons iirc, but the others have a handful of Johto Pokemon that are accessible after the post-game. Despite being Evolutions of Kanto 'Mons, Pokemon like Crobat, Espeon, Umbreon, & Scizor can't be Evolved until the post-game, even if you meet their criteria. So for the main game you're strictly working with Kanto Pokemon.
My question is why can they change stuff like this but not add online features with people on your Friends List. Or Home Compatibility that isn't one-way.
@AussieMcBucket The Main Game is only Kanto Pokemon like the original Gen 1 games - but there's a National Dex and new post-game that wasn't in RBY in FRLG.
Felt really bare bones for a 30th Anniversary. Most of it is stuff you already knew was happening if you follow the games like Unite. XD before and without Colosseum is really weird too. I'm not sure if essentially just a Gen 10 reveal, as good as it looked, can be more than a 7.
Could be worth it for the Home Challenges. There's ones to deposit 'Mons from FRLF specifically. And even if you have all the IRL accessories, this could be a lot easier.
I really hope they actually have some big news tomorrow. Have a bad feeling they'll be talking about all the cool stuff Pokemon did instead of any cool stuff Pokemon will be doing.
@Don I do it too - PS5 for Trophies & Online and Switch for Portability & Local Co-op - but I'll only buy one version full price, and wait for a hefty sale for the other. If it helps, maybe wait to see the Trophy List before it comes out whenever that is.
Weird to not include as many Sega and Konami Marvel games as possible after going through the licensing BS for all of them. Hoping they reveal or add more later, as I'd really love Spider-Man: The Game for arcades specifically.
I've still got my cartridge of FireRed (LeafGreen was stolen), but I understand that most people don't have one or all the hardware. So I get why people would want these even if they're pretty lazy and expensive for a straight up ROM.
Zero interest in these personally. Even if these had online Trading & Battling with your Friends List, I'm not a fan of FRLG, HGSS, ORAS, or BDSP myself. They modernize the games for the times sure, but they never fix any of the big issues, in some cases making smaller ones. And there's a lot of good Indies in $20 range I'd rather check out before going back to Kanto for the 10th time (beat it in Gen 1 4 times, Gen 3 3 times, Gen 7 2 times).
I get why people would buy these. But if I wanted to play a version without online Battles or Trading (or possibly Home Compatibility, they've removed saying it'll have such since then), I still have my cartridge of FireRed for the Solitaire experience. I can even already play it on the TV with the GameCube expansion bit. But even understanding most people don't have these things, these are really bare bones for $20. They're worth 10 bucks at most, and even then, that might be a stretch.
With the leak of FRLG, I'm wondering if the reason we haven't gotten Colosseum & XD yet despite them being two of the initially announced GameCube games is they've been changed to be stand alone releases as well. That or they don't have much planned so they held onto them and will act like the announcement is a big deal.
I'm not sure there's anything I particularly want, but more spin-off would be cool. If they announce a new Mystery Dungeon that'd be a Day One buy for me.
No online is pretty bad. You can have almost every game added to NSO get online Co-op or Multiplayer with people on your Friends List, but really, you couldn't do it for Pokemon, but you CAN have it support Home?
Maybe it's just me, but FRLG are my least favorite way to experience Kanto. There's no modernization like the Physical-Special Split like Let's GO, and the original Red & Blue have glitches you can use for infinite TMs and getting Pokemon easier. There's a lot of older Pokemon games I wanna play, and sadly FRLG are not near the top of that list.
At least you could argue ANCH's $5 upgrade added a Mouse Mode and the megaphone. Is this really 5 bucks just for better visuals & FPS, not even a fake extra tagged on like BOTW & TOTK?
Lucario. The movie it had was one of the best, and it was also part of my first Competitive Team. It's role was to hit hard with Endure + Reversal. The Steel-Typing is what made me choose it over other Fighting-Types - it gave it more common Weaknesses to Moves used in Doubles like Heat Wave and Earthquake while also giving it a Sandstorm Immunity so it wouldn't die at 1 HP if the Opponent had a Tyranitar or Hippowdon.
Absol. By far my favorite Pokemon design-wise. Its appearance in the story of PMD Rescue Team left a big impact on me, the Mega made it usable after Bisharp stole its niche (as far as Gens 4-7 go anyways), and it was my Main in Unite I got to Masters with.
Vaporeon, because in XD Gale of Darkness I picked it a lot because it got Aura Beam via Level Up which is MASSIVE with how restrictive Gen 3 Learnsets are, and it was a member of my first attempt at a Competitive Team for Battle Revolution's Online.
These companies should really be forced to tell you if something is being delisted a year in advance. I'm sick of these 'game is getting delisted, BTW you only have a few weeks left' thing every company does.
If they were smart, they'd add the Gen 1-3 games to NSO with Home & Spin-Off Compatibility. Not just sending them to Home one way but being able to store them there and transfer between games, along with being able to be sent to Stadium 1 & 2 and Colosseum & XD. That would sell more Home subscriptions and Expansion Pack subscriptions.
@MirrorFate2 I think a big issue with the repetition that effects the replayability is the lack of enemy variety. They start off strong for the first 3 Stages, but then there's maybe one new type halfway through and that's it. Going to all the different Marvel locations isn't interesting when you're just fighting the same 3-4 enemy types.
Glad they added a sprinkle of extra healing items, as there really should be more with each hero being your only Lives for a Level instead of the usual Extra Lives & Continues most other Beat 'Em Ups have. Nice additions and changes overall, and it's good to know they still have time for it while also about to release Scott Pilgrim EX. Hoping the closeness of the two releases doesn't impact either getting DLC.
Have a feeling they'll have more marketing for the 30th Anniversary than actually having anything for it. As an example, pretty sure despite the fact they were in the initial announcement of GameCube games, they've been holding onto Colosseum & XD Gale of Darkness to pretend like they're a big surprise for the 30th Anniversary, with not much else planned. As usual I'd love to be proven wrong, but TPC tends to disappoint.
I'm curious if these Mario Sports games will survive much longer. Not because of quality, but because of pricing. $70 or even the previous $60 will seem a bit extreme to people for something like Mario Tennis nowadays, especially since the online likely won't have a long shelf life of a playerbase. And game companies just don't seem to realize that a $10 price difference could make or break sales numbers drastically. If it was priced at $50, regardless of quality you'll have more people buying it simply because it was a little cheaper.
But considering Nintendo only bothers discounting things when they're not as well finically, I think it's more likely the games just don't sell well after a certain point and get put on the shelf with F-Zero for eternity, only to be referenced and never made again.
@obijuankanoobie So in order to play the Virtual Boy for more than a few minutes it's like taking small doses of a poison to build a minor form of immunity. That cannot be healthy lol.
@hcfwesker Nooo, ignore the fact companies are spending trillions on developing AI and buying up all components that are also used in game consoles and PCs for it! Orange man bad!
But anyways, yeah, the Chat system was not a great idea. Even without hindsight of shortages, if it's not as simple as using a headset and the console itself, it's a feature people won't use, let alone in an era where we have things like Discord.
@MamaSymphonia It's almost like the rest of the World was using said country as their ATM, and the people of said country were the ones getting screwed. Cause and Effect is wild.
@Jumwa Personally I don't think it's the fault of the richest, most powerful country that the entire World economy was being subsidized by hand outs from it. If anything one could argue long term it will better the World economy to go back to not relying on said singular country now by choice in case anything ever ruined said country's economy in the future.
@sportymariosonicmixx Your '''fix''' is literally just 'put them in cars to make it fair' but far worse in every way, because now instead of going fast in cars on an equal playing field, anyone faster than Big the Cat has to be slowed to a crawl. It's literally the same solution but more dumb and needlessly complicated in every way. You know, like Sonic Labyrinth where Robotnik sneaks the Slow Down Boots on Sonic, and everyone hated it? So not only is your idea bad, but it's unoriginal - and you've already glazed ourself for it no less.
I can't help but be annoyed at the Comments acting like CrossWorlds was a Switch-exclusive directly competing with Mario Kart World and Kirby Air Riders. As opposed to, you know, reality, where it was a Multiplatform Release on PlayStation, Xbox, & PC where those games don't exist and Kart Racers are scarce. If anything it shows that Mario Kart is more of an exception to the rule like Pokemon or Call of Duty.
@LazyDaisy I'd imagine the reason for that is it's easier both to make and market a Kart Racer than try and make a Racing Platformer hybrid like Sonic R. Especially with how fast Sonic moves now versus back then, at that point you're just making a regular Sonic game but more prone to screw ups. The Extreme Gear from Riders is also in CrossWorlds and play pretty differently from the regular Karts.
@waluigilives Characters like Sonic and Shadow are in cars because, if they weren't, there'd be no point in picking anyone else because they'd always win. It's really, REALLY simple.
