It was okay all things considered, but I expected it was gonna be a bunch of old ports of things that already exist so soon after the Switch 2 launch. It's something that needed to happen even if most didn't care. There were still some neat things like Octopath Traveler 0, Monster Hunter Stories 3, & Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac though.
There's so many amazing Spin-Off IPs The Pokémon Company sits on that'd make perfect budget digital titles for the Switch... and we got none of them. Instead we get low effort mobile games with more microtransactions options than Levels of gameplay. The only reason we got a sequel to Snap is because they couldn't think of a way to make it a mobile game.
Historically speaking, console companies and game makers ditch any kind of peripherals like cameras after the first year or two of launch. Between that, the cost of living being so high right now, and the fact I personally still have a perfectly functional Wii and Kinect for similar if not superior experiences, I can't see myself getting the upgrade nor all the parts needed for it.
@Darthmoogle It's wild that the XBO & PS4 versions of GW1 still have lobbies. It's only for the Garden Ops, Team Vanquish, & Gardens & Graveyards Modes, but the fact there's enough people for full to nearly fully lobbies is crazy. Crazy Dave even.
I'm not sure how you make the original PvZ worth $20. Like the Campaign was perfect and the graphics only need to and can be upgraded so much. I guess they could add more Mini Games & Side Modes, but knowing modern Popcap it'll be the same game, paid and still with ads and things stripped out.
Things like this are meaningless, because they're a one-use code. So if you ever want to reset, you'll lose it forever. TPC is archaic and is still acting like we don't have system IDs to tie things like this or other big/important Mystery Gift Items to. You can still have small or Limited things be used for Mystery Gifts, but things like clothing or Events like the BDSP ones should be tied to your Nintendo ID to be used on repeat playthroughs.
@AG_Awesome You said, "I’d have preferred updates to Mario Party Superstars". If you wanna tell me what these updates should cost for what you're asking in relation to the $20 upgrade to Jamboree, that would still just be an update/upgrade, do explain. In fact feel free to actually explain your logic at all, instead of avoiding talking about it at all costs and hiding behind 'it's an opinion', as if that exempts it from anything.
@AG_Awesome I'm not triggered and infuriated, I'm dumbstruck with your greed and lack of common sense. There's a planetary size difference between accepting and praising whatever they sell and asking for them to make a game 4K 60FPS, add 1.5x the content the original had, and only charge $10-20 for it.
I feel sorry for anyone who tries to play this Competitively with how fast they add cards. Especially with there being no kind of pity system or way to increase odds after tons of duds. You'd have to be insane to put money into a game like this.
Between not improving the base game and requiring so many new extra peripherals, it should've been free. Then again this is the same Nintendo that decided Switch 2 Welcome Tour was a product (not game) that should be made and sold, so...
Should've been $10 between not upgrading anything of the base game and requiring a pretty penny since it also needs a camera and multiple pairs of Switch 2 Joycons. I'll be skipping this one.
@Ryu_Niiyama This. It's sad they more or less gave up, as I think they hit a perfect balance of worthwhile content across multiple games while not being game changing physical DLC with the Wolf Link amiibo.
The amiibo readers on the Switch 2's Joycons are so much better. With the Switch 1 there was either a significant delay or it'd just struggle or fail to read them occasionally (more often on the Pro Controller).
@NinjaWaddleDee The sad thing is based on the leaks, GameFreak knows people want changes but Nintendo tells them no. Nintendo and everything they're part of feels more corpo than ever, and with Pokémon specifically it feels more about crossovers and brand deals at this point than the games. The main games are on a CoD conveyer belt but without multiple teams on multiple lines, and spin-offs are all but completely axed in favor of mobile games that can bleed some people who whale and be shut off in a few years.
@foursider Pokémon Let's GO was the closest you're getting to a Yellow Remake, and they didn't even go all in with the interesting stuff and changes from the anime for that like Team Rocket invading the SS Anne. Couldn't even give Jessie & James their Lickitung & Victreebel from later on.
Gonna be a lot of mobile game filler as usually. Assuming a minute or two of showing off/reminding people Colosseum & XD are coming to the GameCube app. The teaser is probably just adding Pokémon music to the Nintendo app. That or a Rhythm mobile game, as TPC doesn't make full-fledged spin-offs anymore. They really need to show off more of Legends ZA, like how it runs and how you'll acquire Mega Stones. In X&Y most of them were post-game only and it sucked, so how early you can or can't get them with the return of Megas being a selling point is gonna matter.
I just got my Switch 2 a few days ago, and... I'm not feeling it Mr. Krabs. World feels like a spin-off rather than Mario Kart 9, similar to Forza Horizon and Motorsport. There's a lot in common, but they are not the same games. And I really hope that World isn't the new standard.
I can't really add much in relation to the article aside from yeah, there's 0 reason costumes shouldn't just be in a sub-menu when you select a character instead of having their own space on the character select.
I hate the combination of the slow pace they add Pokémon and how they jump between Gens in GO. It feels like they just finished adding the Gen 7 'Mons and there's still almost the entirety of Gens 8 & 9 with Gen 10 around the corner. I don't expect them to keep pace with the main games, but at LEAST try and keep a 1 Gen gap.
The 'modern gaming audience' being a factor is the equivalent of bigfoot being a deciding factor in a country's election. Maybe don't make Ubisoft choices and make games for people that can buy them, instead of people that will only pay you in Twitter Likes.
I've lost all interest in amiibo since the base ones hit $30. They aren't doing anything with them to even justify a price jump to $20, and certainly not enough for $30.
I don't have any particular interest in it over any other Platformers (I enjoy them but am so bad I can only beat easier ones), but if it goes on a decent sale I'll pick up almost any Nintendo game if I've got some cash at the time. I have 0 interest in playing TOTK but still picked it up on sale for 30 bucks, that's a steal for a First-Party Nintendo game.
@Jeronan Except they have software that can detect cloned Pokémon, as proven as recent of BDSP when they patched the cloning glitch, and made any cloned Pokémon unable to be sent to Home or Traded. So they have the ability to stop such a thing with Cloud Saves and instead just don't bother.
There's really no excuse why Pokémon games can't have cloud save backups. Their excuse is, 'there might be a way to clone Pokémon', yet they've proven as recent as BDSP they can easily detect cloned or altered Pokémon and make them untradeable and unable to be transferred to Home if they want to. No Pokémon are really even that rare anymore, even for the ones that're one per save, there's been a website for every Gen for creating Pokémon that they never do anything about. It's just the usual Pokémon Company way of doing things the worst way possible.
This is why I don't get people going, "I'm not getting a Switch 2 because they're not making X game", as if what they've shown is all they'll have for a long time. It's such a bizarre form of tunnel vision.
There's really no reason they couldn't have put the stuff from the app in-game via a new menu option. But ultimately it just feels like they wanted a way to charge for BOTW & TOTK's upgrades knowing how popular they were.
@N00BiSH I'd imagine if NSMBU Deluxe has room for technical improvement in areas, so does Wonder. But considering it doesn't have one, I think there's a strong possibility it'll be getting a paid upgrade at a later date with new content.
Are there even 512GB and 1TB micro SD express cards? I've only seen 256GB ones, which is a big reason I'm in no hurry to get my Switch 2 invite order. Between the new internal and a 256 card, it'd still be less storage than what I have now, which is almost full. So I'd only be using my Switch 2 for actual Switch 2 games or ones with upgrades & versions specifically.
As much as I'd love a performance boost for ACNH, I'd rather have a new game. New Horizons just felt like a boneless New Leaf, and I have a feeling it wouldn't have done great if not for the extremely specific time it launched.
@VoidofLight You also couldn't buy DS games digitally, so they definitely wanted a new one for 3DS sooner rather than later that could be sold that way.
@CaptainQuo Most companies do remakes/remasters to fill the gaps. Persona 5 was the Skyrim of JRPGs, so I'd assume they're a bit scared P6 won't live up to the hype which is why we keep getting remakes and spin-offs to continue the story. And while Persona 1 & 2 would be cool, they're more SMT than what people know as Persona. So they probably think they'd be better off remaking actual SMT games than those 2.
