Good luck getting the fans to rally behind them after they ruined the IP they stole from its creators, that they constantly trashed on along with said fans. I'm sure they won't do the opposite of that and cheer for them to lose.
They wouldn't do it, so IDK why we talk about it. The sole reason the Virtual Console died is so they had something to lazily tack onto NSO to go, 'see, you're not just paying for our online that used to be free, here's some emulators!"
Let's be real, the service was never meant to be good. It was always just an excuse to charge for online that'd previously been free, without improving anything.
It's so bizarre seeing a company like Konami fairly price a lot of Collections, that also go on sale relatively fast, then you randomly get a $25 singular GBA game.
I feel "Hard-to-learn mechanics for those unfamiliar with series and related games" is a weird Con, as I can't imagine many people who don't have some history and experience with Yugioh wanting this Collection. Though I suppose that gets less valid the further you go back, as aside from obvious exemptions like Dungeon Dice Monsters, early Yugioh had more of a rough draft for rules than, well, actual rules. So those early games could play completely differently from each other or what we know know as Yugioh.
Depends on if I can keep my data on the Switch if I transfer to the Switch 2. Could keep the Switch 1 in the living room for Co-op and use it to Trade Evolve in Pokemon Switch games and potentially NSO Pokemon games.
@danzoEX With the current state of Pokemon, I don't have faith a new or remastered Colosseum or XD would be good. Part of what made them so fun is they were difficult, and that would never be allowed now.
@RupeeClock ILCA wanted to more or less do the Diamond Pearl main story with the changes of Platinum for BDSP and things like a Delta Episode for Giratina, but were given a stupidly short deadline by TPC they had to re-use the original DP DS game coding. Which IMO proves Nintendo doesn't care if the Pokemon games are good or not - it's their CoD and they know it'll sell no matter what.
@Kiyata I mean Let's GO had the Pokeball accessory that was a watered down Pokewalker that worked as a basic controller. And as much as I'd love a new PMD... spin-offs that aren't trashy mobile games are dead now. Throughout almost a decade of the Switch, there's been exactly 3: One actual new game, a Remaster, & a Wii U port. So at this point we'd be lucky to get a Explorers of Sky DX with the minor changes Rescue Team DX got, god forbid more like new Dungeons with Regional Forms.
@Oldstalk It wasn't the non-GameFreak devs' fault. They wanted to essentially do the story of vanilla Diamond & Pearl with all the changes from Platinum and a Delta Episode equivalent for Giratina, but were given such a ridiculously short time window by TPC they ended up re-using the original coding of the DS games for most of it. The Grand Underground areas with Pokemon you couldn't find in the original games until post-game was their attempt to band aid some of the issues.
Either Gen 5 just to get it on modern hardware or Johto games to fix the issues HGSS didn't touch, like half the Johto Pokemon not being in Johto and no good late game or post-game areas to Level up. I'd personally love a Let's GO Johto but have no idea what Pokemon they'd use, and think it'd have worked better as a LGPE DLC where you get to see Johto before the 3 year jump, and the reward for the DLC getting you the opposite Partner Pokemon to use in Battle.
I don't expect anything but would be glad to be proven wrong. Would be surprised if we got more than a minute of Legends ZA. I'm sure it and Metroid Prime 4 will be like BOTW and be launch titles for Switch 2 while releasing on the original, so no release date but maybe a launch window.
As far as the 3DS and DS libraries go, I think it'd be great to have more secondary studios tackle them as line-up filler and see how they approach the duel-screens compromise. And unlike what The Pokemon Company did to ILCA, actually, you know, give them time to make the game instead of giving them such a short deadline they have to re-use code from the original games.
The thing is, even if you care about the TCG and mobile games, it's ultimately pure filler. Those things get announcements multiple times a month, they just choose to hold more news in February for the Presents. And if they skipped a Presents one year they'd just reveal it normally like the other 11 months. Spin-offs aren't even a point of consideration anymore - throughout the almost 10 years of Switch, we've gotten 3: a Wii U port, a Remake of a GBA/DS game, & one actual new game. So I can't imagine why you'd watch live instead of just reading news post-reveal.
19 minutes of mobile game ads and updates you don't care about and under a minute of something that matters. I'd much rather just read whatever the announcement at the end is afterwards.
Yeah, knew from the start this would be a game way better 6+ months down the line. A personal upgrade system is a great idea so your favorite doesn't end up as one of the worst options. It's also a way to screw up your favorite, so hopefully they let you re-distribute earned points at any time.
I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't attempted a Kirby Party Game TBH. The main games tend to have pretty solid Mini Games, and at this point Kirby gets more experimental spin-off games than Pokemon (excluding mobile games).
Vanilla EXs and 1 Star Full Arts are rare, but they're not THAT uncommon. Between only being able to Trade for the same Rarity and the Stamina system, I really fail how to see it'd be abused by not having the Tokens. Especially since the 1 Star Full Arts are just Commons, Uncommons, & Rares but prettier - they're not stronger than more readily available copies.
Really goes to show what IPs Nintendo actually cares about. Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Mario 3D World get tweaked main games and new content, meanwhile things like DKC Returns HD are low effort ports, and the dev team who wanted to do amazing things with BDSP were given such little time they had to re-use most of DP's original coding.
Yeah, I don't have any issues taking them on or off, so why not. Feels really weird playing games that just need the Joycon(s) without them too, in the same way it'd feel weird to use the Joycons as a regular controller without the controller skeleton to hold them.
They do a lot of good choices for Pokemon, but the game barely feels different than when it launched. The Events are always the same things with the same Challenges with the same rewards, and I'd rather just not unlock new Pokemon for free than do them with how much of a boring slog it is.
I hope Pokemon Legends Z-A is a straight improvement over Arceus. Loved it, but it definitely had room to improve, and I don't think 'more of the same w/ Megas' would be quite enough.
@SillyG Yeah, the treating cards as stocks is especially bad in Yugioh, since unlike MTG and PTCG there being no Rotation adds an extra bad wrinkle to the secondary market.
I understand Gengar EX is kinda just a worse Mewtwo EX Deck, but it still seems weird to not see it Tiered here. Was also confused because one of the Decks is Alakazam EX when it should be just Alakazam, thought I missed some random Promo or something.
@Anachronism Well think of it this way: All Grass Deck now and for the foreseeable future will likely be running Serperior, and it's best on the Bench. But unlike Gardevoir in Mewtwo EX, you're running more than just the two lines, and in this case you'd be prefer to be attacking with Exeggutor (at least in their Build).
Maybe it's just me but I find 'Blastoise EX & Misty' way weirder, as if every Water Deck doesn't run 2 Misty and that helps define the Deck at all.
@Truegamer79 Fingers crossed it's one of/part of the 2 Transformers projects leaked from Microsoft, even if it's just the original getting re-listed so more people can experience it.
@Truegamer79 I've been saying there's untapped potential in a G1 Transformers Beat 'Em Up. Transforming between robot and vehicle would allow for very creative Combos, Bosses, Stages, & Stage Hazards, as Transformers Devastation proved with the Bayonetta formula.
I'll pick it up for half price or less at some point, as this is a colossal letdown as someone who grew up with Power Rangers and not TMNT, so I couldn't enjoy the references of Shredder's Revenge. The Rangers playing the same is inexcusable when they each have a unique weapon, even if they wanted to keep it simple. If anything having different stats is just bad at that point, because eventually people are just gonna find out one or two Rangers are the best stat-wise and not wanna touch the others. The lack of enemy types is also weird, as unlike the costumes on the show, you can copy-paste sprites. It even feels like a missed opportunity for cheesy jokes commenting on the increasing weirdness and complexity of the new Putties compared to the usual ones. Hoping this ends up feeling like a different game six months from now, but if this is it, that's such a letdown.
Think the only game I played that released this year was Little Kitty Big City, and that was only because of Game Pass. I guess PTCGP too but there's so little gameplay to it I'm not sure it counts. Everything else was keeping up with F2P games or going through the back catalog.
I hate when game companies go 'X copies were shipped', because it's pretty irrelevant info that can be used to be disingenuous. I'm sure this game did fine, it's Dragon Quest, but units shipped and units sold are not the same - they could be shipped but unsold on the shelf. And when they actually do sell something like 1 million or more, they will very much specify it was sold, not shipped, because they know there's a big difference.
I don't trust Sony in their current state to support a handheld long term, and I can't see Microsoft making something that's not just a worse Steam deck.
@calbeau Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the very first Tetris 99 Event was for the GB version. If not, Tetris-Themed Tetris was still one of their first ideas, lol.
@N8tiveT3ch 'The OTHER companies'? Bruh, Nintendo is like the originator of re-releasing games and charging for it! The only reason they don't charge $30 for the original Super Mario Bros. is because no one would buy it for that price. And when they found out people would still buy it for a couple bucks, they stopped doing that and now charge you infinitely to rent them via NSO.
@somnambulance The majority of the devs working on Shadows have never worked on a video game before according to Ubisoft. Feel it's pretty safe to say it'll bomb considering the previous devs could only put out games that peaked at Above Average the past decade, and they had experience.

Just a skip for me so far. The trailer didn't show off anything that appealed to me personally, and having 2 Johto Starters is a major buzzkill.
