I'm still sweeping up collectibles in Yoshi's Crafted World, would be neat if I could get done with it in time for Mysterious Book (though there's one level where I swear they forgot to add the last four red coins), and don't expect to get much gaming time this weekend so that could be it. If not, I need to get back to Xenoblade Chronicles X Switch playthrough, and also have a heck of a yearning for some Mario Galaxy and OutRun for some reason...

To me, as a non-console owner until the 21st Century, Ecco the Dolphin is the second-most iconic IP for the Mega Drive. Back in the day it looked so appealing but I'm not sure the series has ever realised its true potential. Defender of the Future on Dreamcast was initially great, but the second level completely stumps me, which reinforces my perception that they've never nailed the playability of the concept. Or that I just suck.

How any self-respecting 'Nintendo fan' devoted to a Nintendo Life can not call this a Day 1, I don't know. This is Jean-Claude Van Damme Yoshi we're talking about, people! How are you even here if this is not speaking to your soul?

Have to side with those a bit bummed by the colour palette - looks like they're doubling down on the whole dockyard and mudflats vibe, which has a Switch 1 smell to it. It would be nice to see some lusher environments getting inked.

And I can't help but suspect that all the people rejoicing at the 'lower' price are gonna be back in July moaning that the game is only 10 hrs of content (or similar).

Be interesting to see what legs TL:LTD has. I'm still undecided at what point I'll take the plunge, due to the mixed early reception I'm seeing.

@dskatter I'd have to check the official figures on this once available, but I'm not 100% certain that absolutely everyone has experienced the Welcome Tour. To be fair.

People scaremongering about this device having no fan seem to forget that you could just blow an endless stream of air from your mouths, or even your backsides if you were talented enough, onto the Switch 2. Problem solved. Try harder, people.

I'd get one of these, but I'm scarred by stories from years back when people bought such things and then they became useless after a Nintendo firmware update.

NMS is the kind of game I want to like and sink into ... but I just haven't quite reached that point. For me, it feels like there's just a bit too much work involved in the early game, wandering around just feels a bit too samey. I've hoovered up resources, established a few bases, and ... nothing's really changed as a result.

How does one possibly stand a chance at tennis against a verified Airbender? And not just any Airbender but the last bleedin' one of them.

Please inject more personality into this than the kart games get.

I can understand the rise Super Mario Galaxy has experienced this week. I almost bought the game myself this weekend, and that's coming from someone who's already bought the 1&2 physical.

@Jhena Pretty sure my introduction to OutRun was the arcade machine, probably around 8-9 years old in the late '80s. If memory serves me correctly, I paid for one credit, proceeded to crash at every bend, then ran out of time before reaching the first checkpoint - those were the days 😎 ... Had a score to settle with that game ever since, still only ever beaten one route (without driver aids) I think 😡

What with it being Super Mario Galaxy Movie weekend and Easter weekend, I had to play some Yoshi, so I've been enjoying Boost Mode Yoshi's Crafted World today. Better get on Tetris 99 too. And just bought Tents & Trees for some sedate puzzling.

There was a moment near the end of this movie that spontaneously made my hairs stand up on end. That does not happen very often. Loved it.

@Olliemar28 Having now seen the film, I can appreciate how nicely it celebrates the things that I love about Nintendo and Mario games, in a way that I've come to expect many other regulars here at NL, including the writers, would appreciate too.

So when I see an article that in one line strikes an unexpectedly negative tone around there being too many easter eggs, and then in another line strikes another negative tone around there being surprisingly few easter eggs, I see a contradiction. When someone contradicts themselves to strike two conflicting negative points against something, it seems like a concerted effort to be negative. I don't expect to see concerted effort to be negative about something as celebratory as this movie from the writers at this site. It's about expectation, not obligation.

NL is disappointingly down on this movie. How can there be too many 'Easter eggs'? And yet there's supposedly surprisingly few references to Mario Galaxy, which seems a preposterous notion given how much Rosalina, the Lumas, the Comet Observatory, Megaleg, the honeybees, the powerups, the launch stars feature in the film. The star bits sequence was ****ing amazing - scene of the century level stuff. Are these not Galaxy references?

I've just seen it. Thought it was spectacularly awesome and awesomely spectacular. So beautiful 😻. Kinda relentless in its pacing, but I'm not complaining. I'm sitting on a 9/10 at the moment.

Toad in aviators (even though that happens in the first film too) was just sublime.

@romanista That's a half-decent price you got there. I had to pay £35 and didn't get any popcorn, though it did come with a 'Regular' drink (which turned out to be pretty large - are UK cinemas adopting US portion sizes?).

As per the last movie, I'm down for the spectacle, not the story, so remain hopeful that it will be a cherished addition.

Edit about 1 hour later (thank you, Cineworld): Ok, this thing is not small. Haven't opened it up yet to inspect the popcorn chamber, but the whole Yoshi is fairly sizeable - it barely fits in my 30L rucksack due to the feet sticking out each side and the tail at the back. No regrets.

Back home: it's about 1ft tall, 1ft wide (from shoe to shoe), and 1ft deep (from front of egg to tip of tail):

While there is extra capacity in the (*gulps) rear cavity, I'm not sure you'd want popcorn detritus getting in there - might want to find something to plug that opening:

Is it the best thing I've ever bought? It doesn't have a screen inside or detachable joy-cons disguised as shoes, so no, but imagine if it did ... opening the egg up revealing a dual screen waking from Sleep Mode, shoes popping off for instant gaming controllers ... Mlem!
