Re: Feature: Universal Won't Say Anything About A Zelda Theme Park, But They Don't Have To

@Ogbert I like theme parks enough to say they're fun and consider going to them if the appropriate occasion arises, but I wouldn't generally consider travelling abroad for a theme park, so have probably missed out on the real deal experience, but your description of the UK experience resonates. My first theme park trip in about 20 years was last year, and while the park I went to is admittedly fairly well known to be struggling (where isn't in the UK), the amount of disused areas of the park was pretty disheartening and disappointing.

Here's hoping the Universal development in Bedfordshire happens and happens soon.

BRING BACK THE STYLUS!

I really want Nintendo to respect, and build upon, the legacy of its previous stylus hardware and software.

The top portion of the Switch, the strip that sticks up above the dock, does not have to have a flat rear that's flush with the rest of the back panel. A stylus slot could be incorporated there. Pleeeeeaaaaassseeeee 😭

Re: Locomoto Lets You Become The Cutest Train Conductor On Switch This June

Looks like a nice idea. But I have reservations when I see this type of game with this type of graphics - experience suggests it will lack sufficient polish and feel like a 'nearly but not really' experience. I wait in hope. I have been wanting to add a train game to my Switch for ages, but nothing has convinced me so far.

Re: Nintendo Reiterates Plan To Continue Bringing Out "New Titles" For Switch

I'd love to get Switch 2 on Day 1, but it would be complete unnecessary indulgence, and given I bought a Day 1 Switch that developed cracking shell issues and was superseded by an improved model within a couple of years, Nintendo have kinda trained me to wait for the next revision.

I am looking forward to a lot of the Switch games that have been announced, and happily waiting to see what else might be announced in the next couple of years, so along with my life-spanning backlog, I'm more than good for now.

@MrDocena I need to know what the games were from the Wii days that you loved so much. Not judging, I love the Wii days myself, you've just grabbed my curiosity.

Re: Roguelike Racing Revs Onto Switch In "Oregon Trail Meets The Dakar Rally"

One of the worst trailers I can remember. They've managed to take a genre I'm always interested in, apply a new premise to it, and turn me off instantly by showing nothing but an unconvincing animation of a vehicle moving in the same direction against a couple of different backdrops.

I see this in a lot of trailers nowadays: 'Here's our main character supposedly moving in a straight line, and here we're going to swap in various backdrops to show the environmental diversity in our game while the character continues to appear to move in a straight line'.

THAT IS NOT IMPRESSIVE. THAT SUGGESTS YOU'VE GOT EITHER NOTHING BETTER TO SHOW ABOUT YOUR GAME, OR THAT YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT MAKES GAMES FUN AND INTERESTING IS WAY OFF TRACK. INSTANT RED FLAG. STOP DOING IT!

Re: Swapping To Switch 2's Mouse Mode In Metroid Prime 4 Is As Easy As Pie

I'd happily make use of mouse mode, but I'll probably be playing MP4 on Switch, where I'm assuming gyro controls will still be an option.

Be interesting to see if they incorporate mouse controls to a Switch 2 update for Metroid Prime Remastered, and what, if anything, transpires about the 'in the back pocket' releases of MP2 & MP3.

Re: Sony Vet Shuhei Yoshida Says Nintendo Is "Losing Their Identity" With Switch 2

@TrogdorTheBurninator I've drifted to the periphery of Switch 2 chat and haven't kept up with every info drop, but I have been wondering the same - has there been any official mention of how unpatched Switch 1 games will perform on Switch 2?

So far I've just assumed the fact I've not heard anything must mean there's no difference. It's that assumption, and the size and cost increase, that's caused me to drift away from the idea of a Day 1 entry to the Switch 2 era.

Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting

gcunit

This is where my decision to go big on the Switch 1 generation pays off. I can ride these prices out for years on my Switch backlog and pickup a used Switch 2 bundle in 5-8 years time. Thanks in advance to the early adopters that I'll be paying 30% of what they paid to.

I'm not angry at Nintendo, but I am disappointed. This seems like 3DS territory. Be interesting to see how well things sell and how long these launch prices hold.

People quoting N64 and GameCube game prices for perspective need to remember how well those consoles and the games sold. There's a reason for that. Nintendo are gonna sell a lot less software in the next 5 years, which is funny, cos people keep saying software is where the profits are made.

Just remember everyone - buy physical and you can re-sell.
