@DashKappei I wasn't saying the review shouldn't mention the controls, I was just saying that the controls 'issue' doesn't warrant being highlighted in the title.
Can't help but feel referencing the controls in the article title is disproportionate to how significant it is - do we want to give good racing games a leg up on this platform or kick them down? But as it has been highlighted, it would be good to know whether the Wii U adapter for og GameCube controllers can be used for analogue control.
Am I the only that wouldn't be surprised if N dropped a " ... And oh look, there's a Nintendo Switch 2 edition too, with x, y, z exclusive features" in this TL Direct?
I know they announced it as a Switch 1 game, but c'mon ...
@Koda1000 It seems like you're trying to suggest that the way Google translate says it trumps the way that Yoshi says it in the games and in the movie.
Whatever the literal translation to audio may be, the way the character says it in the Nintendo of Japan-produced games, and now the NoJ-produced movie, seems rightly definitive to me.
I don't know anything about Japanese, but if you're telling me that a 'yo' (as in yo-yo) sound, when slightly tightened and blended with a 'sh' sound, still sounds exactly like yo as in yo-yo, then I think we've found the problem.
@Pillowpants Please don't take it personally. I wasn't blaming anyone. But, if I can't get it physically at a reasonable price, I'm not getting it digitally instead until it gets much cheaper. That's not rhetoric, that's me making and expressing my choice.
And two cards is not impossible, if 64gb is the one card max.
The article ends on "Will you be taking up this offer? Let us know in the comments"
Are we only allowed to answer that if the answer is 'Yes'?
I will commit to buying every game on this list, if they get a full + complete release on a proper cartridge.
Mass Effect trilogy really has to happen. I've never got very far with ME1 due to the elevator loading time on PC way back when, and although I own the Xbox version of the trilogy, I ain't never gonna play it, let's be real. But it's a trilogy I must play, so Switch it must be.
Just now realising how many Amazon and Google shares I could have had if I didn't buy Panini stickers and MASK toys with my birthday money as a kid or spent my student loan on crap like accommodation and food 😭😭😭
Luigi done dirty - almost looks shorter than Mario.
Kit should be happy. And if he's down, then I'm down.
But the game key card will be a stumbling block for me. I can wait.
Would still be nice to have the option to downgrade vfx in order to hit 60 fps for those that prefer it. Generally frame rate is not a make-or-break issue for me, but it's nice to be able to choose between trade-offs. I'll give the variable toggle a go whenever I get to it.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons was in my Top 3 so, you know, I was like ... cool before it got cool again 😎
XCX was actually my Number 1 though, and I'd be going back into it to finish it were it not for that nagging feeling that it might get a Switch 2 update before long ...
Tetris 99 was in second place and only 2 hours behind, which is kind of unfathomable an idea for me a few years back, but when they started unlocking missed themes it gave me an incentive to go and earn a bunch of tickets so I'll have enough to insta-buy the three outstanding themes I missed if they ever get unlocked. I like Tetris for what it is, but I'd rarely choose to play it outside of Effect because I'm never going to be good enough to win a 99 - inside the top 10 is the best I can ever do, but I have enjoyed my time spent, so no regrets at all. Favourite theme so far? Probably Metroid Dread.
Animal Crossing was at Number 3, but I'm yet to really engage with Harv's island much (only designed one home there so far), so I've got loads to be getting on with still, even before my hotel opens up. And it's not as if my Island has ever reached any sort of presentable state either, despite my 400 hours since 2020. Will I ever make it worth visiting for others? Probably not, but it's still a nice place to be.
Didn't get round to prepping my Island in advance, so instead I'll be time travelling back to a few days since I last played, cos the cockroaches really piss me off. Really looking forward to 4k Granola 😍
How Victory Road didn't even get a physical release in Japan, IDK, but it sucks. Doubt it's sold particularly well anywhere outside of Japan at full price digital-only. Waiting for sub-£10 as per my usual digital policy.
Quite the boring return for me this year. 427 hours, and my top 3 were all 'old' games:
3. Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2. Tetris 99 1. Xenoblade Chronicles X
I was a bit unsure what to vote for as my favourite, because I've yet to put enough time into Donkey Kong Bananza and Metroid Prime 4, but I went with Mario Kart World cos I just love Mario Kart and this one has photo mode!
Gotta try to smash 500 hours in 2026. Who's with me?
Not sure I know how to process this ... I think this might be the first time I've ever sided with the overall winners. I've probably played less than half, or maybe even two-thirds or three-quarters, of all splatfests, and I tend to not play much Splatoon in between, so when I do get involved in a Splatfest, it's kinda special. And to actually be on the winning team ... I feel like I need to write a speech.
I even managed to definitely be on the winning side more often than not and win a x10, although this was probably more luck than skill because I was also third or fourth in the team rankings at the end of each match most of the time. But there were definitely at least a couple of matches where I came away thinking I'd made a difference (positively) so, damn it, I'm claiming this victory as mine! 😝
Getting nicely embedded in Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, but a side quest involving a mushroom has got me rather thirsty for a swig of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - I forget: has that game had a Switch 2 update?
I think there's also a Tetris99 maximus cup on this weekend for the impending Animal Crossing update, so I'll be nabbing that theme, and potentially clearing the cockroaches out of my house on Granola in preparation for 3.0!
Is there a Splatfest on as well? Sheeesh.
Peace, love and pixels to all (except for the M*G* scu*)
I'm glad I've (hopefully) put my hardware collecting days behind me with Switch 1, because this 'barely different' variant would have gnawed away at me indefinitely if I didn't buy it.
Not any more though. I'm sooooo totally over that silliness. Gonna have to try harder with this player, Nintendo - I ain't no sucka no more!
They are quite fetching colours though. Anyone know of any deals going?
Tried Fallout 3 once. Never got out of the tedious bunker bit at the beginning. I just can't see Bethesda or whoever putting in the necessary care to these ports to get me to care enough to have another go. I'll see how 4 turns out and take it from there.
I'll likely still prefer steering with gyro and settling for Right-stick for analogue accelerator and brake, but if the GameCube adapter could be supported then that would be spiffing.
Not sure how many more times I'll have the strength to repeat this but ... For those troubled by the lack of analogue triggers, OPEN YOUR MINDS to using the R-Stick as an analogue accelerator-and-brake-in-one.
Not played much of this series. As a few others above, I've tried it, but didn't find it satisfying. Races seemed too short and bite-size. GRID was the far better option.
What I'd do for a Project Gotham revival though...
It's just beautiful to finally see the reality of those brilliant tango tariffs somewhat reflected in the US prices. Vote tango, y'all.
On a related note, I hadn't realised the UK prices were semi reasonable. I'm started to get tempted, particularly by the prospect raised by @KayFiOS of playing an up-res'd version of Breath of the Wild VR, 'cos I loved that on Switch with my LABO goggles.
@PixelTavern That is good news and bad news all at once.
Here I was telling myself I'd be all over importing that pillow, if only it weren't for the shipping costs, when really that was the last faint utterings of sensible me using shipping as an excuse to avoid the temptation.
However, knowing Nintendo UK, the shipping costs have probably been baked into their prices anyway, so would I actually be saving much?
I sense, if this only released on Switch 1, it would get more than an 8/10. Comparing it to the successor hardware version and scoring it down doesn't feel appropriate.
By all means celebrate a GOAT with a proficient remastering, or build off it with something new but, please, enough with the rehashing of old stuff - use your skills and resources to create something new to inspire the world, cos it kinda needs it right now.
This is one of those comparisons that doesn't seem that impactful on a phone screen, even at 1080p. Maybe I'll check it again later on the telly ...
Edit: So I did indeed check it later on the telly and was able to identify a bit more difference between the two. PITA.
I was loving the apparent freedom and drip feed of progession in Core Keeper but have taken a break from it because I've since found it seems to prevent key progression milestones until you've overcome certain boss-type creatures, and as I wasn't particularly minded to tackle those in whichever way the game expects but doesn't communicate, it suddenly felt quite repetitive.
I believe others who have progressed further with the game and love it, so I've not given up on it, and the first 10-15 hours were great, but maybe I need something like this Switch 2 upgrade news to inspire me to persevere.

He says "Yosh-ee".
It's definitive.
No more of that Yoe-shee bull****, thank you very much.
Film looks beautiful. Kinda puts the games to shame a bit though, visually. N gon' have to up their game with the next Mario game to keep up.

How about we scan all three amiibo and it unlocks the upgrade?
While I like the luma addition, overall I don't think I liked Wonder enough to justify the upgrade.
Re: Reminder: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade 'Limited Early Purchase Edition' Offer Ends Next Week
You know, if all this was on a card, I could really be tempted but otherwise ... it's looking a little cac to me.
Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Is Getting A Trio Of New amiibo
I can see me getting these. Been some while since I bought any amiibo, partly due to price hike, so will wait and see on prices.
Doesn't having 'Talking Flower' on the packaging give an expectation that the amiibo will talk? Hope there's a disclaimer somewhere.
