@Kosmo I looked again, and it was the Dark Souls book that had the picture, and it was nearly after the cover itself. Maybe it's just restricted to that, tben.
@Kosmo that's weird. In the pitch video, we see the guy flipping through pages in one book, and stopped on one where it had a full-page graphic. He even mentioned the book was all in black and white, which would be weird to say if the book was just print and no pictures.
@Kosmo the books have some artwork in them, but the video didn't really show what they were of. Still, these should be fine since it doesn't look like it took whole screenshots or promo materials for its art.
@ThomasBW84 I think it mirrors a lot of ours. I have a little more Miitomo and gold coins, but the same amount of platinum coins. The coupons don't do it for me if they keep picking games I own, and I stopped playing Miitomo a while ago.
Still waiting on my N64 anthology book to get here next month, but I may want to help this project too. Seems a better deal than funding video games on KS, IMO.
It looks good, but i'm none I really want to get ASAP, more like wishlist fodder when I run out of new experiences. At least I see myself not rushing to get a NX right away either, got a nice sizable backlog.
I messed around with RPG Maker 3 on PS3, and while it was fun coming up with 3D worlds and maps for once, the battle system was sooo slow. I was used to the much faster PC releases, even though they're all in 2D. I also got the PSX one, but haven't done much map-making in it. Kind of hard to tell what's walkable and what isn't.
@Kirk I know this isn't at all what you're hoping for, but Adventure Party that just released on Wii U has the smallest idea of setting up and playing a RPG campaign with other people, with a little wiggle room for making it your own. If more competent devs got a hold of that idea, it could change RPG Maker history and make the console games stick out from their PC cousins. The console games are always much much more limited due to space and what-not, but now since consoles can go online and use removable storage space, and the Wii U allowing robust drawing options with its gamepad, this could be huge.
I'm a little interested in Adventure Party: Cats and Caverns, mostly to see exactly how the game shapes up. Hopefully it's more than just mad-libs styled RPG setup, but I get the feeling it may very well be, as it does call itself a party game.
On the flipside, U-host got a price drop, which would be nice if I got off my lazy bum and streamed a quiz like I said I would. Would be fun for once, since i'm a no-name streamer on Twitch.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy Crystal Monsters on DSiware is so close to the sweet spot of being a poke clone. It could happen with just a few changes and touches.
Reading the review, the game sounds more like a 5 or 6, rather than an 8. It seems like there's no hook, just loosely tied together excuse of putting 60 or so "escape the room" puzzles. I guess the puzzles are good enough.
I never was interested in the Metroid series, too esoteric for my tastes. But I can appreciate how awesome they were at setting a mood, even in the first two games. A lot of Nintendo games had you go alone to save the day, but nothing felt lonelier than Metroid. Really captured the Alien movie-esque feel, even when the soundtrack was nothing but beeps and bloops. I eventually beat the first few games with the help of a guide, so it's not like i'm really missing out, just not my cup of tea so to speak.
@Gorlokk yeah, I can understand if it's a fanservice kind of thing, but the races need to be more varied for it to be a truly unique thing. It just shows the bias the company has.
There were a lot of people who firmly wouldn't buy digital at all, so this goes out to them. A start, and possibly just a way to expand on shelf space, but a start nonetheless.
I'm not interested in either of those titles, but I hope more get announced, it's a great idea.
I got to play it a little a few years ago on a friend's PS3, and I didn't like it. It just wasn't for me. I don't see that changing now. I did get the 2nd game on my Wii U thanks to the Humble Bundle, but I haven't gotten around to playing it.
All that said, I hope the game turns out well for everyone else. The Wii U could use some more games not from crappy indies.
@Trinexx they are what kickstarted the trend, I believe. I had a Jakks Pacific Mortal Kombat one, and got to try out the Intellivision one at a friend's place once. They're pretty nifty, not like a full console-experience, but it feels better to get one of those than the chinese famiclones.
I think something like this is pretty important. Up until now, I largely assumed the Japanese devs didn't care how their games were percieved outside their country, just if it was selling or not. The fact that a co-director was dissatisfied by the localization speaks volumes.
All I know, is that I don't know anything about business stuff. It sounds like the Guillemots are trying to resist being cutout of their own companies. Very bad for them, but I don't know what else this could entail.
I do know that businesses that advertise "Now under new management!" are sometimes causes for alarm. But at the same time, if it happens frequently over the course of 20 years, like the apartment complex I used to live, it doesn't alwys mean it's past the point of no return. It's just businesses thinking they can improve on an established business, and finding out they can't quite top them. Sometimes, it can also be low-balling as bait for selling the property and getting out of that venture. It's obvious this isn't the case with Ubisoft, but I wonder just how bad this could be afterall.
I wonder what the hold could be. People were pretty receptive to Lucadian Chronicles, iand Yu-gi-oh is getting another 3DS release in the west, imagine what a game like that pushed by Nintendo could do.
@Kirk @Kirk I can see why Nintendo wanted to keep their presentation on the down-low and expectaions low. The surprises were fairly small. But it was an overall nice presentation.
And no way was Mother 3 getting an official release, ever.
@Vulxar me too. Though it's less of how NoA is treating the game, and more that I don't think i'm good enough to play it. SMT IV was really hard, and this is about comparable. I may just stick with Atlus' own EO series. I may break the game out once I finish XBX.
@SepticLemon what's wrong with being a hit vocaloid? Seriously, Nintendo needed something like this, they should take advantage of it every moment they got.
And while this will never happen, because it's Nintendo we're talking about, they should totally sell a vocaloid program based on them. I mean, someone already ripped the soundfont for them and is doing exactly that. May as well sell it and make some extra money.
The only reason I can see for bringing passwords back is to transfer progress between the 3DS version, and the console version. Or to use a timed release of certain things. I can't imagine how huge the passwords would get for today's games.
@A01 me too. Subspace Emissary was the huge selling point of the game for me, and I felt sad it didn't get a comparative mode in Smash 4. Smash Run just isn't big enough to do it for me.
Looks neat, but i'm not holding my breath for the 3DS stretch goal. Kickstarter has not been too kind to me when it comes to Ninty stuff. At least the N64 book looks like it'll be a sure thing.

Last sale, I missed Ducktales due to my indecisiveness. Won't make that mistake this time.

Game is fun, but extremely difficult. I can't get past stage 4 without save states. Hard to recommend for that reason.
Re: Wii U Exclusive, Collateral Thinking, Promises Retro-Style Action Platforming
The games are retro, because they're easier to make. Hardly anyone wants to spend more time making indie Wii U games now with NX around the corner.
