I think it's funny the only Atlus-developed game on the Wii U is a Fire Emblem cross-over. Makes me wonder why they didn't put it on the more successful 3DS instead.
@Kirk damn dude, can't let someone have an unpopular opinion without bashing him/her, huh? If you're so grown-up, leave it alone. Let him/her actually enjoy the game for their own reason.
@LiamR i'm being a jackass, and I apologize. I' m just cranky this morning, forget I said anything. I should just stop posting here at all, it doesn't do anyone good.
NoA is in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" now. I suppose they saw losing the trust of a publisher for them is less damaging than the trust of their consumers, even though the game is getting lambasted. If they didn't flip-flop and react to a "rumor," a lot of this wouldn't happen, but I suppose they didn't want to get on the bad graces of their parent company by appearing different from them.
EDIT: now that I think about it, the consumers and fan-reactions probably had nothing to do with the flip-flop, and it was all contractual obligations they would, seemly, pass off to another company, making NoA far more of a shady partner in this case. Just my thoughts, but the story behind this case is far more interesting and entertaining than the game itself. I almost want to buy the game just for that.
I didn't like the the few telltale games i've played (Walking Dead part 1 and Wolf Among Us), so i'm not too excited. Still, more games like those need to be made in the West. Not enough VNs, or VN-likes.
@Jimtaro yeah, I agree. It's one thing to really, truly know whether a console's or console-maker's audience is there for you, but that kind of message comes off too aggresively some times. Like, i'm not putting in more effort to doing your job of selling the game, so don't go after my emotions like that. As if the bad sales happen because I didn't tell x number of people to buy a game.
@Cyberbotv2 I would say so, but only if Nintendo gets the word out more than they are now, like total saturation-levels. I told one of my sisters about that bundle, and she's seriously considering getting it.
@LUIGITORNADO not always. Look at the poll for Metroid Prime Federation Force. Last I saw it, over 80% said they weren't looking forward to the game at all.
I doubt I can make anything what would be considered good, but it'll be fun to mess around with for sure. Playing other peoples' levels could help me brainstorm.
On miiverse, one of the verified users for the sequel mentioned that the first game might be censored when it arrives on Wii U, due to feeling that the low sales of the sequel are due to the lower ages of the consumer-base.
I have Splatoon, but I don't really like it as much as I did months ago, so I stopped playing it. I do think it's worth it, even if you hate online multiplayer in other games.
I'm seeing a trend of disgruntled workers from Nintendo, and it makes sense. First, silencing Adelman and him leaving, then Damon Baker getting slammed for his comments on new 3ds, later those leaks to Liam Robertson, finally Pranger's comments and subsequent firing. Seems like stuff there is pretty bad, leading to venting, which leads to further complications. And it's not helping that we would slam these peopleas being the face of Nintendo and what they're doing bad. Just seems like a bunch of unrelated stuff piling on each other, with these people as the collateral damage.
It's the closest anyone today would see of Punch Ball Mario Bros. That is a true overlooked classic. Makes me wish Woah Dave gets a 2 player mode, would be epic.
And this is the main reason why NoA needs to have a stronger hand in getting games pushed through themselves. By that, I mean courting western devs in the retail space. Because that's what the majority of your market is looking at, not the eShop-only devs who are lucky to sell more than 10,000 copies. indies are great, but hardly anyone wants to use your eShop, and I don't blame them, it's horribly designed.
@Uberchu I had the DS version, and it only helped me a little. The issue I have is that I can see in my head what I want to create, but I can't reproduce it on paper. So I just gave up and focused on programming instead. That's kind of an artform.
I backed this. It looks pretty solid, and seeing as it's going to be made in Unity, it justfies the lower cost. I'm looking forward to it, and hope it gets backed completely.
From the looks of that series, it looks so Japanese, I doubt we'll see it Westward, but starnger things have happened. Fortune Street actually got a localization.
That was a great interview. I'm not interested in the game at all, but I wish them luck in getting the sales they do deserve. I know a lot of people here don't get anything from the eShop due to Nintendo's practices, but I hope if they have interest in this game, they make that one exception.
@XCWarrior can you blame them when it's the "in" thing? Nostalgia is a very powerful thing, and it's sure to catch the attention of anyone who lived and gamed then. Plus, it's easier to do when your art skills suck. Bonus points for Wii U indies, since those and the rare exclusives are the only indies selling well on the eShop.
The game's community on miiverse is what you would expect. Last I checked, there was only 4 player posts. The rest are fat jokes or people slamming the game.
@DreamOn I know you're joking, but something along the lines of Super Puzzle Fighter would actually be awesome. Nintendo doesn't have a competitive puzzler like the Puyo series besides Dr. Mario, which only has so many nuances. A smash version of Puyo or Magical Drop could work wonders.
@Doctor_Opossum Me too. Costume Quest was nifty, and I always hoped there would be a good game that centers on Christmas, and not just a window dressing for the game (no, Christmas NiGHTs doesn't count).
I would say Nintendo makes their hardware for themself, and anyone else making games for it is a plus. This time, they had to mostly go it alone, with smaller devs backing them up. I bet Nintendo will definitely have smaller and more realistic outlook for the NX, no matter what it will be.
@Captain_Gonru because indies are small-fry, apparently, and no one cares about them if they're not exclusive to the console. That's what I get from the NLife community anyway.
Of course, i'm getting 3D Streets of Rage 2, but interestingly enough, but brother-in-law is more excited for Canvaleon. Dragon Fantasy looks good, too. I might buy more than one thing at full price this week, crazy!
@BacktoNarnia but you can. I do it quite a bit, and haven't been modded for it. Spoliers, or what the mods consider spoilers, ate more annoyning to deal with, so it's not uncommon seeing messages marked for spoilers, even if it's a small chance.
@darth2d2 I think the rumor/talking point/editorial articles seep into the main news type articles once in a while. That, and multiple voices confuse who's representing what.

Re: Nintendo Download: 20th August (North America)
@Daemonite Yeah, that is rather biased.
Anyway, gonna get Gunstar, and try to convince my friends to do the same. It'll be hard just cuz they don't like buying digital games.

Re: Dragon Quest XI Is Coming To The Nintendo 3DS And Nintendo NX
The idea behind the 3DS version is cool. Reminds me of Dragon Fantasy.

I like how Darren includes self-entitled in the article, as if he's just brushing all 22,000 people off with a demeaning smirk. That triggers me.
Joking aside, I actually am looking forward to the game, as the MonHun didn't pull me or my friend in, something like this might do it for us.
