We know that Splatoon has been a big hit for Nintendo and the Wii U, with impressive sales and a notable impact on popular culture in Japan, especially. The game is everywhere in Nintendo's homeland, with a substantial range of merchandise and even live concerts.
Nintendo's been slow to roll out merchandise to the rest of the world, but it seems that the music part of the game's appeal is starting to filter through to the West. It's been confirmed that the Japan Expo in Paris will have a live concert with the Squid Sisters, presumably with free glowsticks for those watching.
It's pleasing to see this aspect of the game and its characters come to the West. You can see what these concerts are all about in the video below - are you heading to Japan Expo, and if so will you be checking this out?

No I'm not going to the expo and no I won't be checking it out.
Will it be dubbed? lol
I can't see this being very popular.
What is Japan...?
Why is Nintendo turning these two into the next Hatsune Miku? They don't even speak a language that anyone uses... I guess Nintendo really needs the money and following what's really popular in Japan.
@lighteningbolt79
It might be, if I remember correctly, Nintendo is quite popular in France.
@SepticLemon maybe because people like it? its not that hard to understand.
I'm not into concerts in general and while I do spend most of my journeys listening to video game music or TV show music, I don't really listen to the splatoon music it just doesn't click with me too well. Anyway when I get my Callie and Marie amiibo I'll have endless festivals
I hope it comes to NA, that would be so cool!
How are they doing that? Are they Holograms?
I like how people are slamming one of the acts at 'Japan Expo' on the basis that 'it'll be in Japanese'.
So... like practically all the other acts then?
@SanderEvers There's no way they are just costumes. If so, they are the greatest costume ever created by man, and must be comprised of nanobots. Just look at the faces and hands, I find it hard to believe they are just costumes.
I hope in Splatoon 2 they make a boy band with 5 guys, and the 2 groups are competing for fans.
First we got Tako Luka, now it's the squid's turn.
As weird as that was it did remind me how good the music is in Splatoon.
@SepticLemon what's wrong with being a hit vocaloid? Seriously, Nintendo needed something like this, they should take advantage of it every moment they got.
And while this will never happen, because it's Nintendo we're talking about, they should totally sell a vocaloid program based on them. I mean, someone already ripped the soundfont for them and is doing exactly that. May as well sell it and make some extra money.
I've already seen that YouTube vid, lol.
Honestly something I'd go for. However, I just wish I could actually afford to go to Paris for Japan Expo :/
mean while, Nintendo still hasn't released the Splatoon soundtrack to the rest of the world.. why does Japan only get the soundtracks!
@StitchScout I'd gladly get a Splatoon OST over this.
If Nintendo wants to cash in on Splatoon music, just get the members that were involved in doing the music of the game to play a concert live?
I'll say it like this, I'd rather watch Hip Tanaka live over a pair of projections on a matted piece of plexiglass...
I usually wouldn't even bother to travel to the nearby city for the concert of a real human singer, but I admit I suddenly really REALLY want to go to Paris to see (and hear!) the amazing squid sisters XD
@argh4430 But rather than just have vocaloid projections, could we not actually get the voice actresses that play these two and dress them up?
...unless it'll be hard to do that. But I pretty sure that Callie and Marie have voice actresses who try to sing with a mouth quarter filled with water to gargle and sing at the same time.
Too bad that i did not knew this earlier then i would have chanced my vacation plans. But at least Nintendo has decided to hold these concerts outside of japan and maybe they will do this at gamescom this year
Hatsune Miku challenger.
Watching (well, listening, mostly) to this yet again from Nintendo's official YouTube channel(s). It even got their new solo numbers in there, with a live band for it all. I may have to damn my wallet if they ever performed within driving distance.
