A Second Culdcept Revolt Nintendo Direct is on the Way in Japan

It's on the cards

In early May Nintendo hosted a Japanese Nintendo Direct for Culdcept Revolt, and interesting 3DS title heading for a July release in the country.

It was an intriguing watch, and it's a big deal in Japan as it's the first entry in the series for a number of years. Nintendo is now lining up a second Direct dedicated to the game, with the live stream video popping up on our YouTube feed.

It's going down on 22nd June at 4am Pacific / 7am Eastern / noon UK / 1pm CET; that's actually a prime-time slot of 8pm in Japan, which is the target audience. When covering the first broadcast we learnt quite a lot about its gameplay and strategic usage of cards - it is, essentially, a virtual brand of the sort of complex fantasy card games that are popular around the world.

This series hasn't had a release in the West for 14 years, so odds are slim this will make it out of Japan. We'll be live blogging it out of curiosity, nevertheless; you can re-watch the first Direct below.

I wonder what the hold could be. People were pretty receptive to Lucadian Chronicles, iand Yu-gi-oh is getting another 3DS release in the west, imagine what a game like that pushed by Nintendo could do.

i'm surprised they don't think a card-style fantasy game could be popular here, given hearthstone and magic. i would give it a try....

Here's hoping this does come out in the west, we could always use more strategy games on the 3DS. I noticed the gameplay featured a fair amount of English voice acting, which is ever so slightly reassuring.

@thomasbw84 The last game released in the USA was Culdcept Saga about 10 years ago on the Xbox 360. An amazingly awesome game. Played it to death, but it didn't sell very well. 😞

These directs are too painful, it's ages I'm waiting the chance to play a culdcept game; years ago I read a manga about it and I loved it, too bad I had to discover it was related to a game never released in Europe >.<

Can we have pokemon direct to show off the crystal in the watch.Also include pokemon gold,silver and Crystal please.We want it.

I have no idea what they're saying but the game looks kind of interesting. It's a shame it probably won't be coming to the west but I understand why.

Culdcept was one of my favorite PS2 games back in the day. I'd love to see this stateside.

Hopefully they code this game better than it was on the Xbox 360. The game would make the 360 have slow down and tearing. Nintendo should release a Mario version for the west to get people interested and then release with the Culdcept card deck. The game is amazing. Way better than Fortune Street which they brought over for Wii.
