Damn, as someone who's never owned an NES (though I am still a big retro gamer, just always been more focused on the 16/32 bit eras), I got 17 out of 21. Goes to show how iconic some of these boxes are.
SHOW ME OG DB CHARACTERS!!!! That was the main cut from Sparking 3 to Sparking Zero, so I'm really hoping that that some of those characters will come. That, and give me back Zangya and Fasha.
This game just makes me so happy to be alive. After all this time, its finally almost here!!! My childhood finally gets to live again. I'm so happy that they're doing everything they can to make it the best it can be. I'm fine with all the delays, as long as it comes out good, its okay. Fantasy Life I exists, and that's all I need.
@Not_Soos They did actually add the original version of that, Welltris, to the collection a couple of months ago. Unless this is a different game that I'm forgetting.
@AussieMcBucket Yeah, but the IP is still owned by Bandai Namco; aka a company that has never put anything on NSO before (to my knowledge, anyway). Imo, it mainly goes to show how Nintendo is willing to go above and beyond for N64 games in a way that they don't even do for GBA (the fact that GBA NSO has no third party games still shocks me) and, to a lesser extent, Genesis.
@link3710 They could potentially include a few console games, nothing in the marketing is saying that they won't. I'd kill to see Duelist of the Roses in here; that one on its own would be enough to get me to buy this, and I'm already considering it.
I'm shocked that there doesn't seem to any connection between this game and God Eater outside of both being published by Bandai Namco. This game absolutely radiates God Eater energy. I'm actually kind of excited because of that, I adore those games, so I'm looking forward to what this one has to offer.
@Zeebor15 From what I've heard, Angelique was the original Otome game, with a decent Tactical RPG serving as its backdrop. I haven't played the game myself, so I don't know for sure, but that's what I've heard.
YEAAAAAAHHH!!! At this point in time, this is probably my most anticipated game. Loved original Extra, and both Extellas, but still need to play CCC. Still, been waiting for a release date for this for years, and I'm so excited to play it when it comes out.
Yeah, they could have done a good bit better here. They couldn't at least throw Atlantis no Nazo or something on here? Maybe even show some ambition and include Dead Zone? I would give a full potential good lineup, but the internet is being funky on what some of their games actually are. Point is, even if this is specifically locked to NES games, this still could have been a lot better.
@nhSnork This wasn't exclusively a thing with the 3DS. The same thing happened with Mega Man Powered Up on the PSP, which lost a good bit of offline content when its servers went down a couple years back. Luckily, it was all preserved by the community, and I don't even think you need to hack the PSP to get it (you just import a blank save from the internet, and you're good), so its not hard to get, but it's pretty much the exact same scenario as the Monster Hunter content, at least from what I know.
@Bizzyb I actually bought the game game and all the DLC (excluding the two music DLCs) at the Steam Spring sale, so you're not the only one here. Looking forward to getting around to playing it at some point or another!
This is the game that never ends; it just goes on and on my friends! (Not a bad thing, I just find it quite impressive that an 8 year old, mostly single player game is still getting significant content updates all this time later.)
For me, My hope is MGS4, all 4 PSP games, and Twin Snakes. Rising was developed by Platinum, so it'd probably get a separate release, and it just feels a bit weird thinking of a PS4 game in a collection? I'd love to see it on there, but it does feel a bit weird to think about.
@Aurumonado I just started Steins;Gate a few days ago, so I found it incredibly funny that this showed up right as CERN was being first mentioned in game. I would have made a joke about it myself, but I wasn't sure if they were going to stay a presence.
HOT DAMN! I certainly wasn't expecting this news today! Looking forward to finally getting to play Realta Nua, and with an official version as well! Really hoping for an NA physical release, to put alongside my copy of the original release. Now just to pray that Hollow Ataraxia gets a remaster too. That one is so good, probably my favorite thing that Nasu has ever written.
@Notsoavid I've never played any of the SciADV games but been heavily considering them; should I just wait for the Love Chu Chus to get fan translated before I jump in at this point, or would I be fine to just jump on to Chaos;Head and, if the first Love Chu Chu isn't in English by the time I finish, just jump into Chaos;Child?
If I had the money, I'd definitely buy this, if only for the hope that this isn't the only CiNG game that comes back from the grave. GOD, I want Little King's Story 2. That announcement would make my entire year in 5 minutes time.
@Lizuka @ancientlii Going off of what I know of Atlus's I-mode library, it's most likely a direct sequel to Persona 1, not any kind of alternate version. They did these for several games, including Soul Hackers and the first 2 SMT games.
@Vyacheslav333 The fan translations are at least great, though. I played through classic Stay Night with the fan translation (and am currently in the middle of its sequel, Hollow Ataraxia) and had no problems with the translation itself whatsoever. The fan translation also gives the best of both versions, with the voice acting and additional content of Realta Nua, alongside the uncensored original scenes. As long as you're okay playing on PC (which runs perfectly fine on modern Windows, so complicated setup isn't a problem either) or Android (through a conversion layer), the fan translation is easily the best version of Stay Night (and Hollow Ataraxia) that we'll probably ever get.
@Itachi2099 Oh wow, okay. I didn't realize that any of those had rollback. Then again, the only one of those that I've actually played is Skullgirls, although I do plan on checking out Fighting EX Layer at some point or another, and I'll probably end up getting the Capcom collection at some point or another. I guess I've just heard more of the reports of ArcSys and especially SNK not being able to get rollback working on Switch was all, since those are the fighting games I follow that actually have any sort of chance of getting Switch versions.
Edit: Apparently Melty Blood also has rollback, (that, at least according to the first couple of reddit hits, might actually be good?) on Switch, and I was already considering picking that one up. I guess it gets a slot above DNF now.
At this point, I have to assume that there's some hardware level issue that makes rollback impossible on the Switch. Otherwise, why would NOTHING support it, with certain games having been denied for Switch entirely because their netcode wouldn't work on it.
My predictions are Wiggler, Petey Piranha/King Bob-Omb, Diddy Kong/Funky Kong, Kamek, and R.O.B.
I very much feel like these packs are leading up to something big for the last pack, and the only reason (in my opinion) that Birdo would make any sense to add is that the thing they're building up to is a Double Dash mode. Unless a Double Dash mode is coming, it would make infinitely more sense from every possible set of reasoning for Kamek to have been the first character to be added; they're already in Tour, so they'd be easy to add, they have a strong tie to Yoshi's Island, they're going to have a large enough presence in the Mario movie that their voice actor was revealed alongside the main cast, and they have a long history with Mario Kart itself, having been originally planned to be playable in Mario Kart 64. The only valid reason that I can think of for Kamek not being revealed here is that, since Birdo is Yoshi's doubles partner, they revealed her alongside the Yoshi themed stuff, since a Kamek reveal on a Bowser-themed course is also perfectly valid. Beyond that, even completely out of the context Birdo was revealed in, there several other characters that would probably be better picks, purely from an in-franchise popularity perspective, which we can assume was heavily factored into the development of the DLC, given that several of the DLC's courses are big fan favorites.
Then, as for the predictions themselves, they're the best fits I could come up for solutions to characters in the existing roster that don't have a viable doubles partner. If you put all of the obvious pairings together (Mario & Luigi, Peach & Daisy, Yoshi & Birdo, Toad & Toadette, Metal Mario & Pink Gold Peach, Wario & Waluigi, Bowser & Bowser Jr., Dry Bones & Dry Bowser, Koopalings with Koopalings, babies matching their adult counterparts, Tanooki Mario & Cat Peach, and gender varients sticking together. After that, while not entirely guaranteed, I'd say its a safe bet to have Koopa Troopa & Lakitu (both Koopas), Rosalina & Baby Rosalina (they're both Rosalina), and Link & Isabelle (since they're the leftover crossover characters)), we're left with several characters that are left over, namely Shy Guy, King Boo, Donkey Kong, one Koopaling, and the Miis. From my list, Wiggler goes to Shy Guy (both enemies), Petey/King Bob-Omb goes to King Boo (both bosses), Diddy/Funky goes to DK (Kongs), and R.O.B goes to the Miis (I couldn't think of anything else that would fit with the Miis). That just leaves Kamek, who I say would actually end up going to Bowser, with Bowser Jr. going to the extra Koopaling. Smash already did it, so I could see Mario Kart doing the same thing. Plus, who else would even fit with a Koopaling who doesn't have any Koopalings to go with?
Zelda manga have always been ahead of their time. Heck, the first time that the Rito appeared in the series was in the OOT manga, which released two years before Wind Waker. Plus, since LTTP sprites for the Deku Tree were found in the Gigaleak a couple years back, I wouldn't be surprised if something along these lines was actually considered for LTTP itself, but then cut later on.
YOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! This is why NIS is great. They're one of the few major publishers who are actually willing to dig deep into their backlog and bring EVERYTHING back. God, this makes me so happy.
I'm really hoping for at least one more Prinny Presents, hopefully with the other two Marl Monogatari games on it. Beyond that, maybe another two with Disgaea 2/3 and D2/Infinite respectively? Heck, if they really wanted to be nice, they could put any old mobile games they have the rights to on G-mode.
Beyond that, NIS is in a weird place where I can't really ask for much else from them, since most of their work is in localization. I guess just more ports of the games that they've published before? If I got to make one request, while I know that it probably won't happen, I'd love to see them somehow get the rights to the localizations lost to the PS2 Atlus graveyard. It's not like Sega is ever going to do anything with Eternal Poison, Dual Hearts, or The Steambot Chronicles, so why not give the them to a company who'll actively get with the IP owners and get re-releases made.
@nhSnork Squaresoft and Enix have nothing on the mess that is the Wonder Boy IP.
Starts off in 1986 as an arcade game that, because it was released on Sega hardware (I assume), Sega owns the name of, but not any of the level design. This then gets ported around to several consoles and microcomputers of the era, usually keeping its name, except for a few versions; the Japanese Master System version that was called Super Wonder boy, the American Game Gear version that was called Revenge of Drancon, and the NES and MSX versions, which were developed by Hudson Soft and renamed Adventure Island, alongside a few graphical changes. Adventure Island mostly ends up becoming its own franchise after this, but let's stick a pin in that for now. This one also got remade later on as Wonder Boy Returns, which was a weird half sequel half remake thing, that later got a second release called Wonder Boy Returns Remix, which traded out most of the original elements for a much more faithful remake.
After Wonder Boy, a sequel is released called Wonder Boy in Monster Land. This one kept its name for most of its ports, except for the Japanese PC-Engine version, which was reskinned and retitled (with no other major changes) into Bikkuriman World, based off of the anime Bikkuriman, and the Brazilian Sega Genesis version, which was renamed and reskinned into Mônica no Castelo do Dragão, based off of the Brazilian comic book series Turma da Mônica.
Then you have Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair, which seems to have gotten away from the naming curse relatively okay, even somehow managing to keep its name on the Turbographx 16!
Then you have Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap (not to be confused with the previous entry, which is a completely different game), which had its American Turbographx-16 port renamed to Dragon's Curse, its Brazilian Sega Genesis version reskinned and retitled into Turma da Mônica em o Resgate (also based off of Turma da Mônica), and, last but not least, had it's Japanese PC-Engine version renamed into Adventure Island, despite the fact the two series had long since split into two relatively distinct entities. This one later got remade into Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap.
Then you have Wonder Boy in Monster World, which had its PC-Engine/Turbographx-16 version renamed into The Dynastic Hero, and had its Brazilian Sega Genesis version reskinned and retitled into Turma da Mônica na Terra dos Monstros, yet again based off of Turma da Mônica.
THEN you have Monster World IV (yes, 4, despite being the 6th game in the franchise), which just decided to drop the Wonder Boy name entirely! This one only got a Japanese Mega Drive version at the time, so at least it didn't go through two different name changes! THEN, when the 2021 remake came out, they named it Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World!
THEN, you finally hit the end of this tunnel, Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. At least this one has a valid reason for the naming, since it was essentially the Wonder Boy equivilent to Bloodstained; Sega still owns the rights to the Wonder Boy (and I assume Monster World) name(s), so they just decided to combine the two banners that the series had flown under for its title.
@KayFiOS Yeah, these guidelines are mainly just to try and discourage people from doing the above. I've seen multiple channels stream past the in-game dates specified in the guidelines for P5R (such as RTGame, who has 2.75 million subs, so I'd be dumbfounded if Atlus somehow didn't notice his playthrough at some point or another) with no repercussions from Atlus whatsoever. I've also seen multiple videos based off of musicians listening through the Persona 3-5 soundtracks, and I haven't heard of them having any negative repercussions either, so I think the streamers will be fine.
YOOOOO! This is EXACTLY what I was hoping for! While we may not be getting the entirety of classic DB, at least we're getting SOMETHING, and after the complete lack of anything classic DB in either FighterZ or this (base game), I was starting to get worried that Bamco was just refusing to even acknowledge classic DB. Now I just want to know what the third DLC will be. The easiest option would probably be Goku Black, but I'd love to see them tackle Janemba or Baby or something. I genuinely want a third season pass now, since we might get to see the King Piccolo or even the original Red Ribbon arc there, and I'd love to see either one of those show up in the game.
@WoomyNNYes From what I understand, Sony partially owns the rights to SFV specifically, and Sony is completely the kind of company to stop Capcom from ever releasing SFV on a Nintendo platform. So, in this particular instance, I don't blame Capcom.
@Ralizah Honestly, instead of another version, I'd rather they just do a collection of the prior versions of the games. A few of those versions have some decently unique aspects, like the Turbograpfx 16 version having Ys 1 and 2 being fused into a single game, the NES version of 1 getting an entire new set of maps, several versions getting unique soundtracks compared to the more "typical" versions, multiple graphical overhauls, the DS version having a unique dungeon, and more. Ys II also got a unique Korean exclusive version that went even further with its redesigns than the NES version of 1, adding substantial, unique content that never appeared in any other version of the game. Knowing how remakes work nowadays, most of that unique content almost definitely wouldn't be included in a new remake, so I'd rather just see a collection, if only so that we could have a way to experience all of it.
Oh my god, this is funny. I just finished Ys 1 a couple of hours ago, and when I check my news, they've just announced a new one. While the newer ones are cool, I do wish that we could get a new classic styled game at some point, though, if only so that the weirdness that is the bump system might continue to exist.
@burninmylight The DS version is a full 3D remake, while the GBA (and PSP, which pretty much replaces the GBA version) version is 2D. The PSP version contains an entire new dungeon, alongside the later released direct sequel (FF4: The After Years), and an entirely unique campaign connecting the two (FF4 Interlude). The DS version, on the other hand, has two unique bosses, a bunch of new gameplay tweaks and features, a complete 3D visual overhaul, and is generally considered to be much harder than any other version. The After Years does also have a 3D version, which, to my knowledge, is only available on Steam/Mobile. Interlude does not.
If you go for any version, I'd probably recommend the PSP version, at least as of now. You might be missing out on the DS tweaks, but you get an extra game and a half to compensate.
I NEED MORE INFO!!! Is this just going to be another new area and a boss fight? I'd be more than willing to pay more than the usual dlc price if we could get two. Plus, what does it mean by "classic weapons"? Is it just going to be the vampire killer and a few sub-weapons? Are we going to get soul stuff from Soma? Will we get Alucard's wolf transformation? Speaking of Alucard, how will the team-up work? Will we just get two new playable characters, or will we get something else entirely? Plus, HOW DOES THIS WORK WITH THE LORE??? God, I'm so excited for this, and I just want to see more.
Honestly, I just wish that they did a bit more of Nintendo's arcade back catalogue. Where's Sheriff, where's Space Firebird, where are the rest of the officially liscensed VS. games? I just wish that those were available somewhere.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! We're finally getting games released after the year 1993 for systems other than the Neo-Geo! We might finally get Tekken or Ridge Racer or Gradius IV! God, this makes me so happy.
@EarthboundBenjy Yeah, Sonic is probably the biggest name not here, and would probably get a lot of purchases on its own. I'd also love to see the Cotton game for the system show up, and the ports of Puzzle Bobble, Pac-Man, and Puyo Puyo would also be interesting enough novelties for me to pick them up. Heck, even though it wouldn't be localized, getting the Ogre Battle game would also be really cool, although I doubt it will ever show up, with Square Enix being Square Enix.
@graviton That is true. Then again, Bayonetta 3 is only published by Nintendo, so I wouldn't say that that entirely counts. Xenoblade is a valid point, though, even if it doesn't exactly reflect the vast majority of Nintendo's output, since Fire Emblem and Xenoblade are the only two first party Nintendo franchises that really touch sophisticated topics beyond either the surface level or deep lore that have gotten a new game in the last 10 years.
@rawzeku Outside of slow years for Nintendo, its almost always is all Nintendo games. They just put the one Non-Nintendo game in there to keep up the pretense that it isn't just the best Nintendo game category. I will admit that it is still a bit funny, though.
@Danrenfroe2016 @Fizza Sega only really screws up with Sonic, though. While there are a couple of incredibly minor things (like Monkey Ball Banana Mania's physics being slightly off, or the Raidou costume being removed from the recent Persona 5 ports (for the entirely valid reason of not wanting to offend the entire country of Korea)), I can't really think of a non-Sonic game that internal Sega has had a major controversy with. Granted, they can screw up pretty badly with Sonic, but I don't think that Sega deserves anywhere near the amount of disdain that they consistently get.

Re: Random: Manga In Old Zelda: Link To The Past Guide Shows Link's Pre-Navi Fairy Companion
Re: Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure Sequels Get First-Ever Western Release This Summer
YOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! This is why NIS is great. They're one of the few major publishers who are actually willing to dig deep into their backlog and bring EVERYTHING back. God, this makes me so happy.
Re: Random: Did You Know That Pokémon's HM 'Cut' Could Be Used On Tall Grass?
I never knew this, and my god that picture is so cursed. Who knew that some missing grass could be this offputting.
Re: NIS America To Host 30th Anniversary Livestream Event Next Week
Re: NIS America To Host 30th Anniversary Livestream Event Next Week
@Paraka Prinny Presents 3 already exists; it had La Pucell: Ragnarock and Rhapsody on it.
Re: Feature: What Is The Difference Between Story Of Seasons And Harvest Moon? A Handy Explainer
Re: Atlus Releases Strict Streaming Guidelines For Persona 3 Portable & Persona 4 Golden
Re: Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC Trailer Teases 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament Arc
Re: Capcom Wants To "Hear From You" In Its 2022 End Of Year Survey
@WoomyNNYes From what I understand, Sony partially owns the rights to SFV specifically, and Sony is completely the kind of company to stop Capcom from ever releasing SFV on a Nintendo platform. So, in this particular instance, I don't blame Capcom.
Re: Ys Developer Wants To Release Two More "Refined" Games On Switch
Re: Ys X: Nordics Announced For Nintendo Switch, Launching In 2023
Oh my god, this is funny. I just finished Ys 1 a couple of hours ago, and when I check my news, they've just announced a new one. While the newer ones are cool, I do wish that we could get a new classic styled game at some point, though, if only so that the weirdness that is the bump system might continue to exist.
Re: Final Fantasy 1 To 6 Have Been Rated For Nintendo Switch By The ESRB
Re: Return To Castlevania In The Next Dead Cells DLC, Arriving Q1 2023
Re: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake News Coming "Soon" Teases Series Creator
Finally. God, I'm excited for this. I'm looking forward to the new info!
Re: Minecraft's Ending Is Now Free For Anyone To Use
Ahh, the best ending for this story. That's really nice to hear.
Re: Arcade Archives Nintendo Collection Goes On Sale For The First Time Ever, 30% Off
Honestly, I just wish that they did a bit more of Nintendo's arcade back catalogue. Where's Sheriff, where's Space Firebird, where are the rest of the officially liscensed VS. games? I just wish that those were available somewhere.
Re: Surprise! Hamster Is Bringing The Hardest Tetris Series To Switch eShop Next Week
Re: Review: Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection Vol.2 - A Fair Retro Package With Some Intriguing Curios
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Leads Nintendo's Nominations At The Game Awards 2022
@graviton That is true. Then again, Bayonetta 3 is only published by Nintendo, so I wouldn't say that that entirely counts. Xenoblade is a valid point, though, even if it doesn't exactly reflect the vast majority of Nintendo's output, since Fire Emblem and Xenoblade are the only two first party Nintendo franchises that really touch sophisticated topics beyond either the surface level or deep lore that have gotten a new game in the last 10 years.
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Leads Nintendo's Nominations At The Game Awards 2022
@rawzeku Outside of slow years for Nintendo, its almost always is all Nintendo games. They just put the one Non-Nintendo game in there to keep up the pretense that it isn't just the best Nintendo game category. I will admit that it is still a bit funny, though.
Re: PSA: SEGA Warns Sonic Frontiers Digital Deluxe Edition Players To Download The DLC First
@Danrenfroe2016 @Fizza Sega only really screws up with Sonic, though.
