@HammerGalladeBro I did. I've always been of the opinion that more retro games in general is better. I don't care what platform they're on, or even if they're good, every game has some level of value to it, and should be playable on modern platforms, if it is at all possible for it to be.
I didn't realize this was a thing, but god am I excited. FL1 was easily my favorite game on the 3DS, so seeing this be a thing just makes me so happy, even if it is a mobile game.
@Rin-go I never said that art can't have a message. What I was talking about, with respect to modern hollywood, is that they make the movie for the message, not for any kind of true artistic value. A message can be a great thing, but there needs to be something beyond the message as well. Also, they tend to really shove it in your face at some points, which really doesn't help things. In my mind, the best way to get a message across is to make a piece of art that makes you think about it critically, and that extra step reveals the true message and purpose. It makes it a lot more impactful overall than when it tries to shove it down your throat, and it makes me as a person more likely to appreciate that message, and make myself a better person because of it.
Ahh, another screaming match between two sides who can both be equally wrong in their own way, yet still have bits of valid points in the end. Otherwise known as the perfect internet battleground.
As far as I'm concerned, they should just hire the best people for the job. I don't care about the diversity of that person, or any lack thereof, just the skill, creativity, and overall mindset of that person. If we go too far towards diversity, we end up getting modern hollywood, which is more about preaching a message than delivering a good story, and if we go too far in the other direction, we never get any boundaries pushed, as we end up getting very similar people showing up again and again, causing very similar experiences to be created over and over again. So I say we go for a middle ground. Have some kind of blind recruitment process, where the only thing that the people interviewing the prospective employee have is their resume, with no name, race, gender, etc. fields existing, and the interview is done entirely via text, to ensure that a person's appearance or voice don't affect the recruitment process. From there, it just comes down to word choice, and experience. To me, that's the best of both worlds. That's just me, though, and anybody else's position can be equally valid.
I just have one request here. Include Radical Dreamers. From what I've heard, they were considering including it with the original version, so I'd love if they did that.
Boom Blox is already too late, in my eyes. I wish it could have come around 2 years ago, that way we could have had Labo VR support for it. God, I want a VR Boom Blox game.
Also, Little King's Story deserves to be on this list. That game is a GEM.
I'm still highly looking forward to the deck, even with the delay. The emulation potential is insane, plus the idea of having my entire steam library on the go is great, especially if I can plug in my PC's external hard drive and boot games from it, so that I can use the internal storage for the stuff I really want to be able to have on me at any time. I just hope that the thing will be powerful enough to allow for a decent fast forward in PC games. I just can't play through RPGs without speed ups anymore.
I desperately want to read this article, but I can't. I'm in the middle of Danganronpa 2 right now, and I want to go into 3 as spoiler free as possible, so I guess I'm just going to have to wait. I am looking forward to Summer Camp, though.
@TheIronChimp Tekken was released in 1994. Hamster has put games from up to 2002 on ACA. I don't see any reason not to include it, unless either Namco specifically doesn't want their popular 3D arcade games on ACA, which would be a huge double standard considering that the majority of their major 2D games seem to be coming over, or if Hamster has some unwritten rule that they don't do 3D games, which could theoretically exist, but we don't know, mainly because most of the companies that Hamster has worked with stopped making arcade games before 3D. I honestly think its somewhat likely.
This is nice, but I'm hoping for some of the weirder stuff. Everybody with any kind of major experience in gaming probably owns at least one copy of this one somewhere or another, so it would be nice to see a game that doesn't get re-released as often. I also do wonder how much of Bamco's arcade library Hamster got the rights to, because, while we've only seen the really old games, it's still completely possible that we could end up seeing Tekken or SoulCalibur come to ACA, and I'd buy those in a heartbeat.
Ah, I knew this wouldn't just peter out like it was nothing. I still believe that some kind of game announcement will come out of this, most likely being a Mother trilogy remake.
@Angelic_Lapras_King Yeah, I just want to see the weirder stuff show up at some point. I'd love for them to try and bring back C64 support, since that did briefly show up on the Wii VC, and while they're at it, bring a few other niche PC platforms, like the PC-98 and Sharp X68000. If they want to stick with consoles and handhelds only, I'd KILL for there to finally be some sort of Wonderswan rereleases, and I can always dream that we might someday get a 3DO service. There are so many choices here, so I hope that they don't just stick with the first party platforms and Genesis, unless they have to.
You know, right now I really wish I didn't have to live with a profanity filter, if only so that I could post the appropriate GTA meme for this article. But, alas, things just aren't meant to be.
All the talk about burn-in just reminds me of the one random time that, after booting up Shin Megami Tensei on NSO, a face from the game just stayed on screen for about a half an hour. Nothing managed to get rid of it, even after closing the app, it still showed up. Weird times.
For those mentioning FF11, they had been working on a mobile version for years, and I believe that that version was supposed to be offline (although I'm not entirely sure), but it eventually got canned because the project wasn't living up to expectations, so it probably isn't going to be happening soon. They have said that an offline version is still a possibility, though, seen here. https://www.destructoid.com/square-enix-addresses-possibility-of-offline-version-of-final-fantasy-xi/
OOOOHHHH, I like this a lot. It would be really nice to be able to easily dump my GB/GBA library, although I'm sure that it would probably be cheaper to just mod my Gamecube and dump them from my Game Boy Player. Now, can we get one of these for NES/SNES (Hopefully with Famicom/Super Famicom as well)? I'd love to be able to finally dump my SNES collection, but ROM dumpers are generally rare and hard to come by, and it certainly doesn't look like the Libretro Open Hardware Project is going to be showing us anything anytime soon.
I'd be happy with this, but there would probably be at least two 3rd party games here based on precedent, with my guesses being Gotcha Force as the one random Capcom game that ever ends up being on the service, and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes as the game thrown in just for reactions.
Honestly, this was one of my favorite announcements at the Direct. It's really nice knowing that we're finally going to have a great library of Namco's arcade classics on one platform, since the Namco Museum format has always limited things to a certain extent. I was moreso hoping for a new line of releases than anything (I would KILL for a PC archives line) but this is still really cool.
I just wonder how long its going to be before we get NeiR Automata joke edits for the trailer. That was the first thing that came to my mind when it leaked, and the footage shown didn't help things.
Cotton Guardian Force Saturn Tribute? All we need now is the And Knuckles to complete another ridiculously long title!
In all seriousness, I'm excited for this, and especially for Panorama Cotton. I'm actually developing a game that will end up playing a like that at the moment, so it will be nice to have an example of the style that isn't Space Harrier.
Another Lufia supporter here. I'd love to finally see Lufia 5. I'd prefer a traditional one, but I never played the DS one, so I don't have room to judge that one's style.
I'm just happy about Slime Rancher. Since the Switch came out, the 3 indie games I've wanted on it were A Hat in Time, Subnautica, and Slime Rancher, so to all three having been brought over makes me really happy.
Ok, but they should be actual arcade games. Didn't Squenix at least make one or two at one point or another? I doubt that it would be that hard to get some custom build of MAME running within the game, especially from a company that big.
@GrailUK Oh, I didn't know that. I assumed that Sega had just forgotten about it somehow, since it didn't show up in the original trailer with the rest of the series.

Oh god. Don't let this be happening. I don't have the money to buy out half of the Wii U and 3DS E-shops, and I certainly don't have the storage space, concidering how miniscule the 3DS's maximum SD card size is. I have so many VC games to get, and so many 3DS indies to pick up before those shops go down.
Steampunk Fantasy Life spiritual successor? I would KILL for that. As long as they keep the charm and general gameplay of FL, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
@iuli I completely agree on the style front. IMHO, Valkyria Chronicles is quite possibly the best a true 3d anime has ever looked, at least to me. Everything else either doesn't emphasize it, or just looks wrong to me, in a way that I just can't get over. (Except for the modern Dragon Ball games. Who knows, maybe more of it could look decent to me, but my impressions of 3D anime are mainly based off of what I've seen of RWBY, which just looks awful to me.)
This is really interesting. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they did something related to Star Fox or Sin and Punishment at this point, considering what feels like Forever's quest to singlehandedly revive the rail shooter.
As someone who has played VVVVVV quite extensively, all I can say is that it looks meh. It might just be GBG's limitations (if it is then I can say that it's impressive), but the dev was barely able to make objects be able to go back and forth. Most of the objects here just go up, and that dissapoints me.
Now where's my VR Boom Blox sequel, EA? That's about the only thing that they could make that I would even somewhat care about, but it sure as heck isn't an established IP (Yet it somehow managed to get an official N-Gage demake that I really want to play at some point. How that happened, I will never know.)
While they're at it, it'd be really nice if Square could put the weird FF5 but also not FF5 anime on Netflix or something. I really want to watch that one someday, but I don't think its available anywhere
AHHHHH!!! Circle of the Moon on Switch is going to be SO good. I just hope that they'll fix some of the issues with the 3 games. Save states and a faster walk speed would probably fix most of the issues with CotM, although the cards will still be a bit grindy to get, but the other games have deeper problems that would probably need a deeper hack to fix. The only change I can think of for HoD is for them to move the door before Death 1 to the beginning of ascent to the boss room, so that you won't go all the way up to the top of the room only to get told "Screw you, go all the way back down, go through an entire new area, then backtrack through the 2nd castle version of the area you just went through, then un-backtrack all the way back to the area where you switched castles, and then you can finally go back to the area where you were an hour or two ago!" Making the crushing boots a permanent upgrade would also be really nice, but that's ultimately way less of an issue than how bad certain segments of the map are. Then, with Aria, I don't even know, just make all of the mandatory souls permanent upgrades, and maybe I'll actually be able to play it without getting ptsd flashbacks from Bloodstained, to the point where I only managed to get past the first boss before going "Oh, hell no, I'm not dealing with this again" and putting down the game for the foreseeable future.
@nhSnork Eh. I'd rather the cybertheives get the money than EA. At least the cybertheives aren't actively targeting children who don't know any better, or skirting around gambling regulations for an extra buck. Plus, who knows, we might end up getting the Boom Blox source code out of this, and god, I want to see that happen, if only so that some dude can make a VR version of it, legal or not.
@PBandSmelly And how are the workers being punished for this? It doesn't seem like any personal data was stolen. The only people who are being punished for this are the money hoarders at the top, and I doubt that they're loosing anything either. If anyone builds the source code on their own, they probably would have just pirated the game anyway.
