Re: Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Sequel Officially Confirmed

@Tempestryke I'm fine with a menu to customize souls, I just want all of the REQUIRED souls to be permanently active. From what I remember, the hand, the light zip, and the water jet were all bound to the same type of soul, which also had different, offensive souls attached to it, and all 3 were required to access new areas. I just find that to be unnecessarily clunky, especially when they made a unique button combo activate the gravity flip. Why couldn't they have done the same for the 3 previously mentioned upgrades, allowing for you to actually have a full arsenal at any time, rather than having to constantly switch back and forth between your traversal soul and attack soul? I'm fine with concept of a trade off between attack power and traversal, but the only game in the franchise that did that well was Circle of the Moon, probably because you could go through the entire game without collecting a single one of its proto-souls, so they couldn't design anything that required the stone whip, which was ultimately for the better, and is one of the main reasons why I vouch for Iga to be restrained a bit.

Can we please, for the love of god, at least have someone to reign in Iga's worse tendencies? I desperately want to enjoy soul system gameplay, but I just can't stand when Iga forces you to pause and switch out souls just so that you can get past 1 obstacle, only for you to have to re-pause and switch back just so that you can actually use all of your attacks. Getting a decent map would also be nice, but I honestly can't even hope for that anymore, since all of the Igavania games (other than CotM) have at best slightly terrible map designs.

Re: Square Enix Shares Purposefully Vague List Of E3 2021 Games, Teases World Premiere

Since most of its still under wraps, I'm hoping for an FF Advance collection (Maybe they'll even dig out something from the canned Wonderswan version of FF3? I doubt it, but a man can dream) and maybe a port of something NeiR related, but that's about it. If we're going completely insane, though, I can always keep hoping that the secret Forever Entertainment project is actually full, Trials of Mana style remakes of the 6 2D Final Fantasy games. I know that it won't happen, but I want to believe.

Re: Project64 Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary With A 3.0 Update

alexybubble

@Tasuki Its a lot more convinent to download a rom than to spend a bunch of money just to get something to rip your game files for PC. Plus, you can also somehow get into the weird grey area that I fall in to where I own a Super Famicom and a bunch of Japanese SNES cartriges, but only speak English. I still own the carts for Chrono Trigger and Earthbound and Super Mario RPG, with the latter of the two even being complete in box, but they're in Japanese, so I can't play them. At least in my opinion, I feel that I still have the right to play the games that I own, so I download the English ROMs to actually play.

Re: Project64 Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary With A 3.0 Update

alexybubble

My thoughts on emulation boil down to this: If you own the game, do whatever you want with it. Even current gen games, as long as you actually own the game in some form, go ahead and emulate it. If the game is no longer sold through any official means, there's no difference between downloading a ROM or buying a used copy. If it is sold through official means, though, and you're still downloading the ROM, that's a problem.

Re: Sonic Origins Spin Dashes To "The Latest Platforms" Next Year

alexybubble

Great, the 2nd worst possible reality for a Sonic Collection (at least it has CD). I was hoping for at LEAST something on the level of the Gamecube collections, but no, Sega has officially fallen from being one of the few companies that could make a good collection. Why did this have to be so disappointing after one of the greatest collections of all time (Genesis Classics, at least the PC version). Why couldn't they have at least put in Chaotix. That alone would have made me happy with this. But of course, Sega just doesn't want anyone to play that game.

Re: 'Sonic Collection' Listings Spotted As The Blue Blur's 30th Anniversary Looms

alexybubble

God, this could be so good. I'm hoping for at least the combined contents of the Mega Collection + and Gems Collection, and hopefully a bit more. I'd kill to finally get a port of Chaotix to something other than the 32x, and who knows what else they'll have. Maybe they'll finally bring SegaSonic to a home platform, maybe we'll get the Advance Trilogy, who knows? Maybe, if they're feeling really generous, they'll even throw in some of the really niche stuff the only the most hardcore will care about. I can completely see Sega throwing in the old Sega Cafe mobile games as unlockables, and I'd adore that to no end. Hell, if they really want to go deep, they could always throw in the old Tiger Handheld games! I'll be getting this day one, assuming that it at least lives up to the offerings on the Gamecube.

Re: Dragon Quest 35th Anniversary Stream Will Reveal New Game Information

alexybubble

FINALLY! I've neen wondering when we'd get DQ aniversary stuff, and I was completely expecting for it to just be an E3 segment at this poimt, so this is really nice. Hoping for ports of the mobile versions of 4 - 6, the 3DS versions of 7 and 8, something with 9, and maybe, just maybe, a second set of DQ 1-3 ports that aren't based on 20 year old ports for phones that weren't even powerful enough to run Fortune Street.

Re: Random: Halo Instagram Shows Off Amazing Mario X Master Chief Fan Art

alexybubble

I completely believe that this is teasing the Master Cheif Collection on Switch. I've been predicting this for years now, Microsoft is bringing it to the Switch because of Phil Spencer desperately wants Goldeneye and Diddy Kong Racing on Rare Replay, but Nintendo won't let MS do it, so Phil is just playing every card he can to try and convince Nintendo to let MS have them. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a completed build of Rare Replay for the Switch and PC, but Phil is holding it back until MS gets permission for those two to be in it, and the MCC being ported is just his next attempt at getting them.

Re: Rumour: Neopets Could Be Coming To Switch

alexybubble

If they're bringing over the original, can they bring over the PS2 game while they're at it? Its always been one of those games that I looked at and thought "Huh, that looks somewhat interesting, I might play that at some point" and then never got around to playing, so a port of that would be nice.

Re: CNN Covers The Super Nintendo World Opening

alexybubble

My god, this looks glorious. I wish that they had more than just Mario, though. Imagine a Metroid themed ride, where it actually takes you through Zebes, or a pokemon themed land, where they somehow manage to have actual pokemon battles using a combination of animatronics and AR!

Re: Talking Point: The Problem With The X Button

alexybubble

I just have my switch's rebound controls set to Xbox style, so that I don't have to deal with muscle memory problems. I've been playing on PC a lot more recently, and I use my Xbox controller for that, so I just unified the control schemes, even if it's a bit weird for some games (BOTW in particular sucks with this control scheme.)

Re: Soapbox: This Accessibility App For Animal Crossing: New Horizons Shows How Companies Must Do Better

alexybubble

Can we please at least start with universal in-game button binding? I'd love to use my custom control set (with an Xbox-style button layout) with BOTW, but its just so awkward using anything but the default. And don't even get me started on traditional Zelda's controls. Let me bind any item to any non-movement/pause button, damn it! Also, being able to universally set attack to the R button in 2d platformers would be really nice.

Re: Best SNES / Super Nintendo RPGs

alexybubble

Of the 4 DQ Snes games, you put the 1 & 2 pack? 3 & 5 are both a lot better than 1 or 2 ever was, and that's coming from someone who actually liked DQ1. Also, FF5 not being on here is a travesty.

Re: Soapbox: Why Do People Love Games Like Stardew Valley And Animal Crossing?

alexybubble

I understand the gameplay loop of Stardew Valley/Harvest Moon, but I just don't even see gameplay in Animal Crossing. At least New Horizons looks like it has more than any of the previous games, but AC still needs a bit more gameplay than it has for me to really give it a shot. If I want the life simulator, I'll just play Stardew, and if I want the customization, I'll just play Minecraft, both of which have a lot more gameplay than AC has ever had.

Re: Nintendo Isn't Backing Down On Its Decision To Pull Mario Products From Stores This Month

alexybubble

The only one of these that's actually going to die is Mario 35. 3D All-Stars will be split up and sold separately, and Fire Emblem will be added to NES online. This is another AM2R situation, where Nintendo just ended up choosing the worst possible way for all of this to happen.

That being said, it still sucks that this happened in the first place. To paraphrase the great Dunkey, Nintendo is great at making games, and terrible at being a company.
