Re: Random: This Minecraft Recreation Of "Still Alive" Is Packed With Portal Easter Eggs

alexybubble

When you think about it, is there any reason why valve games on the Switch are impossible? Valve games are on the Xbox One's backwards compatibility, so Valve doesn't have a problem with their classic games being on modern platforms, and Portal Bridge Constructer is on Switch, so Valve doesn't have a problem with their properties showing up on Nintendo platforms. I also doubt that any of the major porting studios would turn down the chance to work with Valve franchises if they were given it, considering how popular most of their games are. Even if Valve just doesn't want any new ports of their games, there's no feasible reason why we couldn't at least get Black Mesa on the Switch.

Re: Ubisoft Leads As The Top Third-Party Publisher On Switch In 2020

alexybubble

Ok, since they're apparently in such a good spot on the Switch, can we get more of their back catalog now? Rayman 1 - Origins, Beyond Good and Evil, AC Desmond Saga/Unity & Syndicate, any Far Cry game, Watch Dogs 1 & 2, any Prince of Persia game, I'd happily buy all of these games on Switch, but none of them are there.

Re: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Leaked Online A Week Before Launch

alexybubble

My thoughts on this are that if you have a pre-order, I couldn't care less about whether or not you download it. If you don't have a pre-order, its piracy, just like any other game, if you make videos about it with spoiler free thumbnails and titles, its still kind of meh, but I can live with them existing, but if you do put spoilers in the title or thumbnail, that's when it goes too far. If people want to watch a video about the leak, let them, but if they don't, don't ruin their experience, otherwise (word not allowed on this site) you.
@Tasuki The Youtube recommended section still exists, and it isn't kind to those avoiding spoilers.

Re: Poll: What's The Best 2D Mario Game?

alexybubble

I've never really been a fan of 2D Mario games. They always seem a bit generic compared to anything else that's out there, to the point where the only 2D Mario that I've been able to complete was World on the SNES, and that was more out of obligation than anything. I'd play Kirby or Sonic or Mega Man any day, but 2D Mario just seems bland to me.

Re: Japan's Poké Lid Project Continues To Install Pokémon Manhole Covers Across The Country

alexybubble

Is it just me, or do these look like those weird Yo-Kai Watch disks that were floating around a few years back? Those are the only things I think of when I see these.
Edit: Also, the person who designed these must a huge fan of Lapras. There were 6 of them that I saw, more than any other Pokemon for the set. I just find it weird that they'd be pushing Lapras, of all Pokemon.

Re: Soapbox: Grinding Is Poor Gameplay Design That Doesn’t Respect Your Time

alexybubble

@nessisonett Except for when you're using Retroachievements, which requires that you max out every job for every character for a specific achievement. Plus, even with fully maxed out jobs and everyone at level 99, I still had a good amount of trouble with Omega Mk. II and Neo Shinryu. My main issue was just that I decided to grind in the 2nd world (I was trying to go in spoiler free, so I didn't know that movers gave ludicrous amounts of AP), so I just got screwed over there. Its completely my fault that it did take that long, but that doesn't help the superbosses being so hard.

Re: Soapbox: Grinding Is Poor Gameplay Design That Doesn’t Respect Your Time

alexybubble

I'm fine with grinding, but only to a certain extent. I just finished FF5 Advance, and I ended up having spent 115 hours on that save just to have a chance at beating the true superbosses. I'd be fine if it was half that length, but when you get to over 100 hours, 50 of which were due to grinding, that's a bit too much. Then again, that's partially my fault for grinding too early, but the point still stands that that's way too slow.
Edit: One thing I forgot to mention: Grinding a new party member from a low level when the rest of your party is all at very high levels is the best feeling an RPG can give. I love seeing a party member gain 20+ levels in one battle, it just feels so good.

Re: Get Another Look At Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury In These New Japanese Commercials

alexybubble

I'm definitely picking it up day one, I even have it pre-ordered. Bowser's Fury looks like the best non-linear Mario experience since 64, and 3D World is the best linear Mario Experience since the original World on the SNES, so I don't have a question in my mind about whether or not I want this one. The only things that could make this better would be the ability to freely swim to any island at any point, more, bigger islands with more stars on each of them, and more level variety than (assumedly) cat themed islands, but the latter two would require that it was a standalone game, which it obviously isn't. It even looks like we might have a blue coin substitute, which is just the icing on the cake here, since (in my opinion) blue coins were an amazing idea, but just weren't executed that well.

Re: Talking Point: Are You A Player Or Collector?

alexybubble

I definitely fall into the collector category, although I try to play at least some of the games that I play. Part of my collection is feeling a bit guilty about emulating games that I don't own, especially with ones that I really liked, another part is games that I just really want to own, and the rest is mainly oddities that I might eventually play, but don't plan on playing anytime soon. The only big annoyance about actually playing them, though, is how many re-releases were on the PSP, which I'm not just going to buy for re-releases of Persona and Metal Gear games, plus FF4 Interlude, despite that probably being the only platform that they exist on that I would actually play them on. God, can we please get Metal Gear and Persona on Switch.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2021

alexybubble

@GrailUK I would kill for that to happen. I would adore Metal Gear, non-linear Castlevanias, Goemon, Suidoken, Adventure Island, Bonk, and especially the Konami WiiWare games on Switch, and with Konami seeming taking an actual interest in the industry again, those might finally happen.

Re: Hey Anime Lovers, Funimation Is Seemingly Teasing Its App For Switch

alexybubble

Finally! The Switch has always seemed like it would be the perfect device to stream on, but I just never really stuck with Hulu, so maybe this will be better. I'd love to be able to finally binge DBZ on my Switch.

@javiboy2 As long as I can watch free with ads, I'll be fine. If VRV can live without a paywall, Funimation can.

Re: The Game Awards 2020 Will Feature '12 To 15' New Game Reveals, Geoff Keighley Confirms

alexybubble

I'm predicting something to do with Mother. I refuse to belive that the Hibonichi Mother Project wasn't leading up to to some sort of announcement, wheather that be of ports or remakes.

Also predicting that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will get a port announced, why would Capcom have planned for it to be at EVO if you couldn't buy the game while supporting them?

Other than those and a Smash reveal, it will probably be garbage.

Re: Microsoft Won't Be Taking Bethesda's Games Away From Nintendo Platforms

alexybubble

For everyone complaining about Rare Replay not being on Switch, I doubt that Microsoft is to blame here. If I've picked up on anything about MS in the past few years, its that RR isn't coming because Phil Spencer wants Goldeneye and Diddy Kong Racing on all platforms for any new ports of RR, and Nintendo probably won't let DKR on to MS platforms.

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Wii Games

alexybubble

I'm fine with Galaxy not being at #1. At least in my opinion, SMG is maybe an 8/10 at most, and feeling more like a 7. Before Luigi, I probably would have shifted it down to 7 max, feeling more like a 6. The game just feels like it can't decide whether it wants to be a sandbox, or a course clear. This video sums it up nicely: https://youtu.be/IxCyq4c07hI
