Re: Retro Studios "Thrilled" To Reveal Its Work On Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Znake

Am I the only one that feels like it’s a copy and paste gameplay from previous games? The enemy AI looks very dull, and there is not a single element of gameplay innovation. Plus I was hoping we would get a next gen graphics! Forcing us wait so long, and then lowering the standard just to release it on current gen?!
I can ignore the graphics which don’t look any better than the Prime 1 remaster, but the gameplay looks uninspiring. Considering how many famous people work on this game, I expected to be blown away by the trailer but this was just “ok”.

Re: Mailbox: 'Switch 2' Launch Ports, Soulslikes For Beginners, Poké Parks - Nintendo Life Letters

Znake

Super Switch needs to handle new Metal Gear Collection Vol.2, Mass Effect, new Kojima spy game, Baldurs Gate 3 looks interesting- I would give that a shot, and we definitely need everything on cartridge completely! No partial downloads or cloud games! I wanna play all Resident Evil Games on Switch, and Souls games need to launch on New Switch also! Elden Ring would be cool but Bloodborne would be even better. Also, some games need remastering- like Bayonetta 3, which suffered a lot on this weaker platform:/

Re: Best Nintendo Switch 2D Platformers

Znake

Mario Wonder is the most streamlined and easiest platformer along with the Mario Land series. Huge disappointment and lazy effort since they removed score and timer thus eliminating replayability. Tropical Freeze is still the very best platformer on Switch- most well crafted, balanced, great unlockables and modes! Wonder doesn’t come anywhere close.

Re: Poll: Do You Want To See 'Super Mario Bros. Wonder 2'?

Znake

@Sonicka one thing is how many seniors really supervised the team! It doesn’t matter which team
Made it, but that they crapped down the difficulty. And it is fair to compare it to Tropical Freeze or even Rayman Legends, because Wonder takes a lot from these two. If we all look at the older games- even removing score shows the lazy effort! Because it’s much harder to design a game where every action counts and you have to make choices- it’s a lazy design choice to remove it. After playing most Mario games, I feel the new gen developers are of a different mentality- and that shows in game design a lot, everything is streamlined so that everyone can finish the same game. Before, players had to be patient and learn, today, if a game is hard, people cry online and the game gets bad marketing just because of the power of majority. Too bad Mario suffers as a result:/

Re: Poll: Do You Want To See 'Super Mario Bros. Wonder 2'?

Znake

Mario Wonder is a game made by new team that clearly copies too much from the past and hides the lack of depth behind wonder effects. Anyone who appreciates platforming perfection, and has played Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze must notice, that Mario Wonder doesn’t come up with anything new- plus the elephant transformation is so boring , uninspiring, and doesn’t fit the game at all- like Tanooki and cat suits. It doesn’t offer any challenge compared to DKTF- which also had multiple difficulties, hidden routes, secret levels- and only after completing all secret levels which are crazy hard- then the real difficulty starts offering only one character with no checkpoints…and the boss fights were awesome in Tropical Freeze, not so simple like in Mario. Mario Wonder is marginally overshadowed my Tropical Freeze. Mario Wonder doesn’t have any depth like SMB3 where you had to consider which upgrades to use, and how you traveled through the map could cost you rare items. I feel like the team behind wonder lacks creativity and doesn’t understand what made the best 2D Mario great like SMB3 and SMW. I hope a new team takes over a new 2D Mario game. I like Mario Maker 2 more. The biggest disappointment is that in Mario Maker 2 we had some fun levels that had only 0.1-5% success rate- some were really precise and hard in a good way- any level where 15-20% managed to finish them felt already quite easy and I feel that Nintendo got stuck in that difficulty for even the hardest levels, which is not fun!

Re: Talking Point: What Would Make You Happy To Give Up Physical Games And Go 100% Digital?

Znake

Nothing would compensate lack of physical media. In that case we are manipulated because laws can change and so can ownership over time over products. My digital game can disappear one day, physical never! My main issue is that during release, they should have a finished products ready at a certain date- when that disappears, developers will get even lazier and release more unfinished games because updates and bug fixes will be the new norm. It happens today already, but not with all games. It shouldn’t happen at all!

Re: Batman: Arkham Knight Still Runs Poorly On Switch Despite Massive Update

Znake

There is no excuse to this! Can’t believe Nintendo wants to juice another year out of such underpowered device- who suffered? Definitely not Nintendo but we gamers who loyally wait and buy Switch versions and then we keep getting things like this, always waiting for patches, incomplete games on cartridges, and poor gameplay. This is not OK! Anyone would buy an undercooked steak in a restaurant or half cooked food?! This should be illegal!

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Mario vs. Donkey Kong For Switch?

Znake

It’s too easy and childish. Kids back then had much harder games to adapt to so I don’t understand why the difficulty keeps getting scaled back on everything. Also, if they wanna remake more DS games- how about just porting Pkmn Heart Gold, Contra 4, or 3DS games like Star Fox, Kid Icarus, … these games are unnecessary filler the resources should be poured elsewhere.

Re: Best Donkey Kong Games Of All Time

Znake

@Diowine it’s honestly the best platformer out there. Amazing challenge, the secrets levels are really hard but amazing if you manage to beat them. Except from the hidden levels you gain extra difficulty if you beat all the levels and can play only with a single king with no checkpoints. There is so much to do and the challenge is so much fun, that Tropical Freeze of s miles better to me than Mario Wonder, Rayman Legends or any other. I do t think it will be easily beaten.

Re: Talking Point: If 'Switch 2' Is Backwards Compatible, What Will You Do With Your Switch?

Znake

Hey guys, but what if the news Switch also had 3D and could emulate DS and 3DS? I think it would make sense to have the new Nintendo Switch compatible with DS and 3DS cartridges-you could have the second screen on the lady or right and with a touchscreen it wouldn’t be an issue. Also this way, Nintendo would boost sales of the new switch, because a lot of people today buy new retro handhelds so they can play these older cartridges. This way Nintendo would cut out competition since it could play all the formats and at the same time lure consumers into buying more switch games. Also it would make the ultimate retro console, and since we all know the new system needs to stand out- and if it won’t be power specs, it needs to do something special.

Re: Analysts Doubt 'Switch 2' Will Be Able To Top Switch's Mighty Sales Numbers

Znake

Switch 1 had almost Zero competition so it was easier to create the hype, but with all the portable PC’s, Steamdeck Oled and many others, the Switch 2 will have to overcome much greater challenge. It would at least need to be more powerful than Steam Deck to justify a purchase from people who already have one of those, and those numbers are not small. If Switch 2 offers only a power of a base ps4, which is like 10 years old console, it will be predetermined to not fail, but it will face sales that might not even exceed 70-80mil units sold. Choose wisely Nintendo! It’s not just about power for sure, games matter, but Switch 2 will share ecosystem with ps6 in maybe 2-3 years and will need to handle 3rd party ports of ps6 games so hopefully they will make solid hardware that won’t have the same issues like the Switch’s terrible running ports and no content on cartridges for its limited space

Re: LEGO Zelda 'Deku Tree' Set Rumours Resurface Online

Znake

Deku Tree?!! After Mario 64 Lego came out with the compact and fun design, OOT can do much better than a Deku Tree. The World is small. OR it could be the Temple of Time with Link holding the sword and you could flip the Ladestand around to switch between young and adult Link.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Nominated For Another 'Game Of The Year' Award

Znake

I don’t see how could Baldurs Gate win over Zelda which is a symbol of innovation and creativity. The sad thing is it’s usually not about voting for the best game but satisfying the masses. BG is financially more profitable since it’s on more platforms as opposed to Zelda that’s just in Switch so it’s easy to tell that most people who voted definitely didn’t play both. Still hoping more people will play TOTK because it has become my favourite game of all time!

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2024

Znake

Lol how did EA got burnt by Wii U? EA got burnt by their stupid decisions-asking full price for just ME3 on Wii U where other consoles had the complete trilogy for the same price if not much cheaper! EA shot themselves in the foot. Now with Switch being the most successful console out there, it makes no sense not to release it on Switch.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection's Next Update Launches "Early" January 2024

Znake

All of this should be released on physical media as well!!!!!! This is such a thrash Konami! You release a damn unfinished garbage and then people who buy physically still need to download it! This totally kills the physical release of the most beloved franchise!!! I am skipping MGS completely-I was super excited first but Konami messed up big time!
