Re: Round Up: Everything Announced In The November 2023 Nintendo Indie World Showcase

Znake

@BTB20 if you read between the lines you might see it’s not me judging this direct, it’s about the decrease in quality overall. I am not the only one who wasn’t interested in a single game- and that also says something? It means there is no original idea-mere carbon copy content for the sake of selling and making money. Games are about ideas- and I didn’t notice anything original. Are you saying it’s ok to allow average games into widely expected direct that doesn’t come weekly? I wouldn’t mind if this content was mentioned on sidelines, but these directs come overt few months and if this shows peak indie games, than I am shocked you don’t complain seither, because if these are all high quality games for you, that would enable big studios release average bad content even more- and that happens still- if people don’t complain- we get more micro transactions in games, more forced online connections, more unfinished games that need patches right after launch! And that’s not ok! Back then, games released finished and the overall quality was better. I think people should rise their voices and have higher standards than just streamlining everything for the sake of making even IQ50 players be able to play because more purchases are more important than good quality content. Just saying!

@anoyonmus let’s not focus on silly typos please if we are both adults. If you have played games, read books, watched movies for over 35 years, you can tell what is quality, how things are marketed, what are mere carbon copy titles in new coats just to make quick money. Gaming has been on decline for some time and I don’t need to play every game to see so. I am not judging any game particularly, I am judging released content and marketing-focus which is obviously to make money.

Re: Round Up: Everything Announced In The November 2023 Nintendo Indie World Showcase

Znake

@IceEarthGuard that’s a good point for sure, but if you have been playing games and knowing the business for over 30years like me, you would maybe understand that the overall quality is rapidly decreasing. Not judging all these games, but just reflecting my impression overall over the gaming trends, ne gaming business. Games today are more about making money than making fun experiences, and these directs are more marketing tools to just keep selling more stuff even if it’s not that great. Back when I was a kid, if there was a game in a magazine- those were some of the top
Games. Nowadays, anyone canarket anything and the market is overflowing. I believe we need higher quality directs and higher quality games. Back then if you release a game- you release it when it’s finished. Today even Indie games release unfinished because making profit is just more important than waiting little longer and offering a complete product! So quantity over quality!!! That’s not ok! Everything gets monetized, micro transactions, forced online-because people became the product, not the game. So trust me, that my intent is good, unfortunately many consumers don’t see this, and it’s very sad!

Re: Zelda's Voice Actor Would "Love" To Reprise Her Role In The Live-Action Movie

Znake

@HaileySheridon I am glad you liked it, but that doesn’t mean it was a good game. It doesn’t meet the quality standard of BOTW or TOTK. As a Warriors game they stripped so many strategic components that Age of Calamity is really a watered down game with very little depth. It’s even more streamlined and linear experience which is contradicting the warriors concept. Characters are overpowered and you are just bulldozering waves with zero strategy to it. It great if you resonated with the game but for me I am looking at it from a higher perspective and it’s sad for me to say it because I was very excited for it, and then never finished it because I got bored. for a new gamer it might feel fresh but I have been playing over 35 years and see how genres evolve, how gaming changes, standards lower,… hard to describe. Also as a big fan of Zelda games, I have the highest possible standard for it so that’s the main reason why I also wouldn’t do a life action movie- because the market is overblown with CGI and bland acting, and Zelda deserves more! It needs to be a unique experience and most importantly artistic experience- movie would make it into another fantasy, but Animeted style would make it more unique and the silent hero would work better in Anime than having a mute actor. If you have seen Ghibli movies-you would know that these films expressed more than most fantasy films ever.

Re: Round Up: Everything Announced In The November 2023 Nintendo Indie World Showcase

Znake

@anoyonmus LOL it’s funny anyone defends this. I bet 99 percent of people won’t be interested in majority of these titles! If you like average thrash indie games, and won’t voice your opinion to get better titles, we will get crappy announcements if you are ok with it. Based on your reply it’s clear how short sighted you are, or you work for this platform and defend this bad content.

Re: Round Up: Everything Announced In The November 2023 Nintendo Indie World Showcase

Znake

@CornflakeCookie that’s tough. But Ocarina remains the best Zelda and I feel if they brought a new and deep combat with new elements that could be new covered in old as well. Remember the Wii U Tech demo? Having a Zelda as detailed and polished would be awesome. I think after TOTK which essentially is a rehash of Ocarina of time story, they can’t really do much more beside bringing crazy time Traveling into the future and creating even more contrast between old tech and new.

Re: Zelda's Voice Actor Would "Love" To Reprise Her Role In The Live-Action Movie

Znake

@HaileySheridon Sorry but even though I missed underwater- we got the same experience through low gravity fields! And it’s definitely worth making a third game for- just for underwater lol. Also Age of Calamity was a big B tier average game and that was enough to waste extra time in the same world. Now we need a proper Ocarina of Time remake in the style of Wii U tech demo! That’s something Zelda franchise deserves- deep, intimate and highly polished experience. Not Age of Calamity which was even worse than Hyrule Warriors in many ways.

Re: Miyamoto And Avi Arad Have Been Discussing The Zelda Movie For A Decade

Znake

Live action would be a terrible choice!!!! It would create another CGI bland type of phantasy. Bring studio Ghibli on board instead! Having Zelda movie in the style of Princess Mononoke would be the only choice to give it the serious and artistic note that Zelda universe deserves! Please no real actors! That would be the fail of a decade!

Re: Japanese Charts: It's Onwards And Upwards For Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Znake

Upwards only with good marketing thanks to the movie. It’s hardly the best 2D Mario and definitely not the best platformer on switch. It’s sad that people misplace fame and hype with quality game. It has good art style, effects and great controls, but most people’s attention is taken by visuals which in many minds take attention away from depth which this game severely lacks. It has creative effects but it’s too streamlined with minimal difficulty even in the hardest levels. It’s a huge disappointment!!!!! And mainly because this should be the leading platformer. The king of platforming is still DK Tropical Freeze!

Re: Best Nintendo Switch 2D Platformers

Znake

@OorWullie yeah Tropical Freeze deserves more recognition. Now I got quite disappointed by the childish difficulty of Mario Wonder and realised how amazing TF is. Wonder pales in comparison.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1

Znake

Burn Konami for putting Zero Effort into this, and mainly how you treated the Switch physical release having zero MGS game on Cartridge!!!!!! Why is is so difficult to polish a game before release?! Any company that does this deserves low sales to learn their lessons. This is a flagship franchise for Konami and this shows what people are employed at the top! Those should be fired!!!!!!

Re: Konami Calls On Snake's OG Voice Actor To Promote New Metal Gear Solid Legacy Video Series

Znake

@Princess_Lilly I saw articles and videos how Kojima treated his coworkers. It seemed to me he was blinded by promised fame in the west, he seemed to have high ego because he had friends in the USA like G. Keighley and he wanted more by pushing a celebrity voice in his game instead of doing what’s best for the series and fans. I loved Kojima back then but after seeing some things I think he is not that great-just putting good cutscenes in his games and unappreciative how big talents he had in his team like Yoji Shinkawa. If he was such talent and experience-he would handle all the deadlines and budgets better, not having so multiple delays and going over budget multiple times and he was the Executive in Konami so it’s not like he couldn’t do what he wanted, so he failed as a director in my opinion. Love the games still, but I don’t mind his egocentric Kojima game/production on every screen when the game starts-another proof how self obsessed he was. I was also hyped for the collection but having no MGS game on a physical cartridge is a huge fail! This was one of my most expected rereleases. Kinda hope that Hayter would revoice MGSV and that they will finally finish MGSV connecting it to MG1 ending with Venom Snake fighting Solid Snake.

Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - The Best 2D Mario Since The Super NES

Znake

@spacely_sprockets sorry I didn’t mean to insult any age groups. Games used to be harder though when I was a kid but games were more niche. Todays kids play ridiculous games on phones and I would say that todays gamers are lazier overall, that’s why I am mad that games in general reduce difficulty to make sure as many people can beat those games just to boost sales. Btw, what is the most fun and also the most difficult platformers for you?

Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - The Best 2D Mario Since The Super NES

Znake

I love Mario, but now I worry where is the fun of the game never challenges the player. I play games to overcome challenges and succeed. If it’s made relatively simple, it’s great that even kids can play but it’s a sucker punch to old time fans. I think it’s unfair even when last world is somehow challenging, but having 90% of a game that can be played on autopilot? I wonder if the designers got lazier and lazier because naturally it’s much harder to program and design a tight and escalating difficulty that evolves with the players skills. Now graphics and wonders might take attention of players away from tight gameplay, but let’s not forget that Mario is foremost about gameplay! Might wait on discount then. Doesn’t feel like day 1 purchase now:(

Re: Soapbox: TOTK's Ganondorf Is Great, But Zelda Needs To Do More With Its Villain

Znake

@Cia great job, finally someone who doesn’t need to be spoon fed, and notices all the details! Great job! Totally agree. Ganon and the shame he brought to his culture and his selfish search for power and bringing Gerudo over Zoni- it’s like when a small country tries to free itself from a dominance of a much bigger country in a way, plus all the religion sub themes… this game has so much depth I could spend hours talking about all the analogies with todays politics and religion and history. Too bad that not everyone notices this depth and just consume at the surface level. People are just lazy to read between the lines:( Glad there is someone like you!

Re: Soapbox: TOTK's Ganondorf Is Great, But Zelda Needs To Do More With Its Villain

Znake

I feel only a young player could write this article. Since the whole Ganon plot happened in the past-logically the player could not fully experience that. I agree that there is too much Ganon as reincarnation of evil, but Gerudo culture, Master Kogha trying to bring Ganon back and being stuck while discovering Zonai tech, Gerudo disowning Ganon as a leader, power stones, religion, destruction of culture and how long dead culture can be viewed 10 thousand years later, curse that leaked everywhere and people adapting to it. I think considering the player freedom and the need for the story to be flexible- this was an excellent work. If we got more linear style Zelda game in more intimate world- Like Ocarina Of Time remake, I think the story could be more direct and bold. On one hand I wished we could see more of Ganons past and his hunt for power. But is t it enough that Gerudo are stuck in the desert, and the Zoni that lead the world through power-even though being good- doesn’t it make sense that he felt that it’s unfair that some beings from the sky use magical relics to maintain control and he wanted to take it for himself? Maybe he wasn’t so evil until he touched the stone which amplified his warrior spirit which forced the evil reincarnation within his soul? Then he became evil and all Gerudo abandoned him then for bringing so much shame to their culture. The question is at which point did the reincarnation happen- because Gerudo can have a male child every 100 years, but this Ganon killed the Zoni, and then until TOTK 10 thousand years passed and this was the only main calamity until TOTK- so it’s possible that Gerudo have a male only for as long ad o e of them is alive in some form- making the punishment for their culture even more severe- that for Ganons evil deeds he got possessed and cursed Gerudo for not being able to have more children until he was defeated. Now it would make sense if he had a Child with a Zoni long ago-maybe with Mineru- which would be the secret Zoni armor warrior relic in TOTK- one warrior who tried saving Gerudo honor by defeating his father or maybe braking the curse that befell Gerudo and their warrior culture- that’s why they can have a child only every 100 years and only 1. Still I love when a story is put together so the lore makes space for so many options and explanations. There is only a certain number of options for stories in media and I don’t think any studio can create something super original- great story sure, but original?! That would be tough and for that reason I think they did better making the story and lore through the memos from the past so the player makes their own stories through playing the game. Now for the future games- I hope they remake Ocarina of Time and through that game it could be easier to make a more detailed straightforward story since it’s not as complex as all the events attached to TOTK. Ocarina could be more intimate hero’s journey.

Re: Soapbox: TOTK's Ganondorf Is Great, But Zelda Needs To Do More With Its Villain

Znake

@Bratwurst35 if you have the intellect to appreciate a gem than good for you. Most people behave like greedy monkeys and not everything needs to be adapted to those. Either you get my point or not. If I were a kid sure maybe I would like being fed a fancy story, but now experiencing almost 30years of gaming, I actually feel that what we got here is far deeper than most games today. Not claiming there are no deeper stories out there, but for Zelda it’s really deep and deeper than most AAA titles today.

Re: Soapbox: TOTK's Ganondorf Is Great, But Zelda Needs To Do More With Its Villain

Znake

@ShinEon I love OOt but in fact this game is the real OOT remake. BOTW is like the Kid Links part and TOTK is adult Links part. Also from the cutscenes it’s pretty clear Ganon saw what power do the Zonai hold and he wanted to get it. His presence is also there through fake Zelda and Shadow Ganon- which was amazing throwback to OOT’s Shadow Temple and more. This game provided enough but most people are spoiled with fancy cutscenes and the story is supposed to be served on silver platter. I think the story in TOTK was solid and ballanced in a way for people to make their own stories within the game. I think sometimes it’s good to have more vague story like Dark Souls. This story was at least as good as OOT but it’s a different style of storytelling. I think that the story can be as deep as we make it. Imagine for Gerudo await 100 years for their messiah to bring their culture to glory-awaiting their long foretold king-who happens to be an ass@&£” obsessed so much with power and his quest that lead Gerudo warrior to believe that Zonai are the race that maintains power through ancient relict and the only way to be free was to take it from them, but the Gerudo didn’t know his aim wasn’t to bring Gerudo to glory years but to obtain power only to himself and his selfish desires, putting all Gerudo to shame for which they don’t want to be associated with him. Also the ancient Zonai tech that’s believed in the world to be magic while it was just a normal part of super advanced culture which Ganon destroyed. There are honestly so many hidden messages that deeply resonate with worlds religions and history that I think is honestly amazing. Hope people will learn to look deeper because the story here, while not cinematic is far deeper than games like Last of us, Arkham games, or more- which are praised for story. This experience is just really long but the intense deep story and lore is there for everyone to discover if they pay attention.

Re: Soapbox: TOTK's Ganondorf Is Great, But Zelda Needs To Do More With Its Villain

Znake

Some of us actually prefer if there is space to fill in the spots with our imagination. It is another extreme when people want everything explained word by word. There could be more, but this more would also dictate the flow of the game. Keeping some things hidden gives the game more freedom for us to create our own story and that was the goal of this game!

Re: Nintendo Reportedly Briefed Activision On 'Switch 2' Back In 2022

Znake

@QuickSilver88 totally agree. I just worry 32GB won’t be enough. Yes, it’s so annoying when the cartridge is just a dongle with forced download and it’s even more stupid when you can’t play the game when it’s actually downloaded but you still need the card in! With Switch success if they have really large orders for micro sd production, I don’t think the cost is very high anyways.

Re: Poll: Do You Prefer Zelda: Wind Waker HD's Bloom Lighting Or The "Flat" OG?

Znake

@NintendoWife sorry I didn’t mean to transpire arrogantly. Anyway- past Nintendo gens had bad sales and another issue that s that many Nintendo fans who knew Wind Waker or TP were limited by the console- imagine that GC sold like 20M only and the game couldn’t even sell more-so most gamers today don’t even know that game who didn’t grow up with it. Switch is just in a fragile moment- because there is a lot of competition like Steamdeck and if for the new successor is weaker-it might detract some gamers too. All I am saying is that WW is an old game that would do better to release on a console at its best. Also we can’t compare the success of Switch to Wii- which was bought by many for fitness and gimicky games-so I would not give the Wii a credit for success as a gaming platform except for outstanding Virtual Console! The Switch is the most successful Nintendo home console and I don’t think a full remake would be worth it and the old remaster would sell well already, just not too close to TOTK. Nintendo has a huge backlog and I don’t think they need to save anything for next gen- there are plenty of amazing 2D games that would be great for remakes. I personally would do double pack or WW and TP for Switch. For the next gen a full remake of Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask- plus maybe Link to the Past 2D remake, that would be more than enough before the new mainline Zelda comes in, plus they can still release Link Between Worlds too.
