Re: The New Pokémon Theme Park Is Looking Rather Lovely

Yosher

It may look nice, but this is not something you should put in a presentation like this, imho. Give it its own presentation like they did with Super Nintendo World. Because this is something the vast majority of people will not be able to go to anyway, and thus is a waste of time to watch for a lot of people.

Re: Pokémon Is Teasing Something Ahead Of Next Week's Showcase

Yosher

You may poke me about it:

If they announce Gameboy (Advance) main line Pokémon games for NSO in this Pokémon Direct, I'll buy either Pokémon Scarlet/Violet and the DLC.

If they announce gen 1, 2 AND 3 coming to NSO (rather than just one set of games like they did at first with the 3DS versions of those games), I'll do the same with Sword/Shield.

If they announce Stadium (2)/Colloseum/XD connectivity with these games to boot, I'll buy Scarlet AND Violet, and Sword AND Shield, and their DLCs.

If they announce ALL of the above, I'll buy all of that, and get a year of Pokémon Home to boot. And any other Switch Pokémon game I happen to be missing. Which I think it's just the Pearl remake.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (19th July)

Yosher

Since the last Splatfest I've been playing Splatoon 3 a little more again, so I'll be playing some of that.
Since they added Yoshi's Story to Nintendo Music I've also been playing that here and there. I never actually beat all the levels in that game, let alone doing an all melon run, so that's what I'm doing currently.
I'll admit, I've always found Yoshi's Story to just be a mediocre game, but now that I'm playing it more I'm really finding the charm in this one and that makes me happy.

No DK for me as of yet. But that'll come later. Depends on if I find it below a certain price or not, because a DK fan I am not. I have the amiibo at least though. That one's cool.

Re: Nintendo Announces 'Global Jam' Demo Event For Switch 2 Online Members

Yosher

I've played the Splatoon Testfire.
I've played the ARMS Testpunch.

I don't think I'll be playing this.

It really just does not seem very fun to me. Not to mention it seems uncomfortable to play.
Maybe I'll give it a try, since it's a free demo and all, but.. meh.

Edit: I missed the part where this is exclusive for NSO members. That seems really weird to me. You give out 7 day trials relatively frequently, why not do the same for this game? It's like Nintendo thinks the game doesn't have the power to sell memberships!

Re: Nintendo Is Seeking Player Feedback On Game-Key Cards In Japan

Yosher

I fear another "Paper Mario story" scenario might creep up where a lot of people voted about gameplay being more important, and Nintendo taking that as a que where story didn't matter at all in Paper Mario.

Except here people would vote rather downloading, but there is no option of "I would much rather have the full game on a physical cart".

Better yet, include a "I want the full game on the physical cart, and if it comes on a game key cart instead I would rather just not buy the game at all" option. That would be my vote.

Re: Donkey Kong Might Be Getting His Own Movie

Yosher

I don't think I really have interest in a DK movie. I might watch it one day when it's on TV or I might get it cheap on blu ray or whatever, but definitely not seeing it at a movie theater.

Mario movie #2, and the Zelda movie, on the other hand...
Heck, give me pretty much any Nintendo franchise as a movie over DK, honestly.

But I know DK is beloved, so I'm glad for all the fans at least! Hope it turns out great. If this ends up being real, of course.

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Director Acknowledges Performance Drops: "We Prioritized Fun And Playability"

Yosher

I don't really see the occasional frame drops as that much of an issue. I've enjoyed plenty of games that had them. Sure it would be better if they weren't there but it's usually not nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

That said... my reasoning for not getting the game at launch is because I'm not a DK fan in the slightest, and therefor am not willing to pay €70 for a DK game, so take my word for what you will lol.

I'll get the game though. Eventually. But I won't pay more than 50 bucks for it.

Re: iFixit Performs A Full Teardown Of Nintendo's "P**s-Poor" Pro Controller

Yosher

Sounds to me like Nintendo wants to force users to send their stuff to Nintendo to get even more money out of consumers from these expensive things.

I think I'll just stick with the one pro controller and if I want more, I'll probably pick up 8-Bit-Do variants. The ones I have for PC from them are excellent. They'll probably make Switch 2 specific controllers, if they haven't already.

Re: Feature: Three Laps, Two Players, One Vegas Jumpsuit - 10 Things We'd Love To See Added To Mario Kart World

Yosher

I like ALL of these options. Except for new versions of existing characters. There's a reason why Pink Gold Peach and babies Daisy and Rosalina were disliked. If you're going to invent new stuff, make new established characters from species already in the game, like they did with Toadette in Double Dash. Or I guess Waluigi in Mario Tennis. (Hey, human is a species that is in Mario games.)

I don't know what to vote for really though because I want all the other options equally. The game is target undercooked and NEEDS all that stuff, and then some, to be the game it really deserves to be.

I guess at the very least I'm hoping for all the cut characters to return over time. And I'm hoping for DLC. Maybe that DLC will take on the form of an entirely new island to double the amount of tracks. Of course you couldn't go from one track to the other between islands, but I don't know how else they would incorporate new tracks as DLC in this game, lest they awkwardly plop them into the already existing map. I guess they could just have you drive over the water though. Plenty of locations already do that. But that would be long stretches of water. Unless they put (more) water specific courses in between the islands.

I also really, really want more actual characters that aren't NPC drivers. And I want the NPC drivers to be given more personality. Give them outfits (really, no Fire/Boomerang/Ice alternatives for Hammer Bro is a travesty), and make them match the others in facial expressions too. I saw a video that shows all of the characters react to blue shells. Every character looked on in shock or surprise... while the NPC drivers just had a blank, boring stare. If you're going to put these things in, at least make them fun.

Re: "It Will Have A Chilling Effect On Game Design" - EU Group Responds To 'Stop Killing Games'

Yosher

For any game that is designed from the ground up to be played online....

Why not add support to make them fully playable offline too?

To this day, people still want to be able to battle against the AI in Splatoon, or at least have an AI take over for any player that happens to disconnect. The fact that this hasn't been done yet, especially considering AI Octolings exist, is really baffling. But I'm sure this can be done, and I'm sure plenty of online only games can benefit from similar things.

Re: Poll: How Many Hours Have You Spent In Mario Kart World So Far?

Yosher

35 hours apparently. With my most played mode probably being regular Grand Prix because that takes the longest by default to get 3 stars in.

For a new Mario Kart entry that released a month ago by now, that number is pretty low for me. I'd have over 100 usually by now I think.

Aside from the heat not really letting me play much out of fear of overheating my system, the game is just kind of disappointing to me. All those years without a proper new entry, all the hype they built around this game, and this is what we got. It's just... not it. They said it was worth the price increase but nah, no it's not. It's just a higher price because Mario Kart 8 kept selling. That update that killed online didn't help much.

I will say however, that I believe the game has a lot of potential. The actual gameplay mechanics are great. They just need to use this game as a base and build it up more. It can be so big, so grand. I believe that in a few years it could possibly be the best Mario Kart. Right now it feels like one of the worst. It just needs some updates to fix its issues, and both free and paid DLC (so long as the paid DLC is priced after its actual value, and not overpriced like the main game).

I'll be keeping an eye on this game and seeing where it will go. Right now it's just, meh, but I'm really hoping it will grow into a solid 10/10 game.

Re: Talking Point: With Bigger GameCube File Sizes, Should Nintendo Let Us Download Individual NSO Games?

Yosher

It absolutely should be an option.

And for those who don't care, just make a toggle that says "automatically download new games" to make the app function as it currently does.

It really shouldn't be that difficult.

On that note, give each of these apps folders too. GameCube isn't bad right now but the rest of em, especially NES and SNES, have such a big catalogue now that it's kind of annoying to really find games to play. I'd like the ability to sort every game as they currently are but also being able to put them all into folders for easier access and sorting.

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing

Yosher

If the file size really is the issue, then have the system use a media that allows bigger files to be stored on it.

Right now, all they're doing is shoving the cost onto the consumer by practically forcing the consumer to buy additional storage in the form of those expensive express SD cards that are also just rather difficult to come by, especially any that actually have some significant size to it.

That's probably my biggest gripe with these atrocious game key cards. The addition of it coming with the worst of both physical and digital worlds is just icing on top.

These things can't become a thing of the past fast enough. By far the worst thing to come out of the Switch 2 generation.

Re: Metroid Fans Rejoice, New Switch Icons Are Now Available Just For You

Yosher

@SirLink Do you get all of them? Personally I only get my top favorites, and all the borders and backgrounds when there is at least one character in a set I want so I'll have options to mix and match there. I couldn't even begin to think about getting literally every single icon!

But one thing they could do is just allow you to bulk buy the icons and get a discount for insta-buying a whole set. Like 10 platinum coins off. That would be nice, and would save time having to get them all one by one as well.

Re: Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Release Date Could Be Revealed Soon, As Switch 2 Rating Spotted

Yosher

@beltmenot People don't like having to download games they buy a physical copy of. Plus it comes with the worst of both physical and digital aspects, with the only benefit being that you can sell it.

Pair this with the Switch 2 capacity not being overly great (despite being several times bigger than Switch 1), and the SD cards Switch 2 needs cost quite a bit, especially the bigger one, and it puts quite a bit of strain on consumer Switch 2 system memory. And consumer wallets if they want to expand, on top of the already very costly Switch 2.

I'm already struggling hard to maintain my memory on the Switch 2, which I never really had an issue with on Switch 1, largely thanks to the complete lack of game key cards (and code in a box games not being too present either). I never felt like I had a lack of capacity, very much unlike the Switch 2 even just in its first year vs 8 years of Switch 1.

Gee, I wonder why people dislike game key cards. 🤔

Re: Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Release Date Could Be Revealed Soon, As Switch 2 Rating Spotted

Yosher

I know the game is probably too big to fit on a normal cart but I'm gonna chant it anyway:

Please don't be a game key card please don't be a game key card please don't be a game key card please don't be a game key card please don't be a game key card--

This is one of those games I really would love to support on Switch (2) but I also just really do not wish to support those things so it's a conundrum.
