I would very very very VERY much love a new Yoshi game, made in house again. I want them to give the new Yoshi game the love DK got. Or at least let Good Feel or Next Level Games make a new one! Or you know, other great Nintendo connected developers.
I would love to see them flesh out the Yoshi universe proper and have it stand in its own two feet better without being marred by one mediocre entry after another.
Because we really needed Pokey and Snowman instead of Link and Inkling.
If you're going to pull from the Mario universe why not grab characters like E. Gadd, Diddy Kong, etc, you know, the usual suspects people want. But of course the NPC drivers are all easy to just pull from their respective course elements, so we're stuck with those.
@ROMhaiku It would have been better because at least then you wouldn't have to swap it out. You know, one of the nicest benefits of a digital game. 🤷🏻♂️
@Sambuc Are you sure you don't understand why people are against it?
It creates the illusion of there still being a physical product. Technically, yes, there is, but the actual product you want needs to be downloaded and is not on the cart.
You're going to need to have a lot of storage space to download all of that, or constantly redownload stuff you wish to play.
And that's all assuming the servers are even still up. Physical, you can pop that sucker in and it works regardless.
Add to that, that it doesn't come with the convenience of neither physics nor digital. You have to download it AND have the cart in your system in order to play.
With all due respect, it's pretty clear why people are against these things.
Sure, I have several new mains! Aside from Yoshi I now have Yoshi (Touring), Yoshi (Pro Racer), Yoshi (Aristocrat), Yoshi (Soft Server), Yoshi (Biker), Yoshi (Swimwear), Yoshi (Matsuri), and Yoshi (Food Slinger).
Much as it sucks for these developers, and it might hurt the Switch 2 as things go forward, but I'm personally happy with this development as it hopefully sends a message about those atrocious game key cards.
I truly, truly hope those things will become a thing of the past very fast.
Yeah I'm probably getting it. It does look really good.
I'm the only person in the world with this mindset probably but I hope Yoshi gets his 3D game this generation too. Luigi has 3, Donkey Kong has 2, and Wario and even Peach both have 1. Yoshi would work so well in 3D too, if nothing else Mario Galaxy 2 and Mario Odyssey both prove that incredibly well.
It's good to see that after the fiasco that was the Mario Kart World Direct, Nintendo still knows how to do Directs focused on a single game. 9 out of 10, really solid.
It's kinda funny and sad that Pauline's first amiibo isn't even her on her own, nor is it her usual adult design. The amiibo looks cool though. I'll buy it.
Pauline being in is really cool and she's implemented pretty well. I think I'll get the game. It looks good. Dunno yet if I'll finish this to completion though.
I haven't, solely because i haven't played either game on Switch 2 yet. I don't know if I'm interested in jumping back in. Maybe another time. I did upgrade to the Switch 2 editions through the NSO subscription though.
If it comes at only a fraction of the content, I guess I'll wait until I can get it for a fraction of the price. 🤷🏻♂️ Of course if they have the audacity to put it on a game key card too I'll just not get it at all but that's a different matter entirely.
I remember seeing this in the Switch 2 direct and seeing people thinking it was Final Fantasy 9 because the character looked like Garnet. That was fun.
Anyway not buying until it's heavily discounted because you know why.
Honestly the bad image quality in and off itself could be a selling point just for the memes. Hey if i ever find it for cheap enough I may get it, because no way am I getting the official one for how much that goes lol.
@sethfranum I never said they're my friend, please stop reading things I didn't type. A company can make money and still do right by the consumer. But I know they have no incentive when they're making this much bank, which brings me back to my original comment on not knowing whether or not to be happy about their success here.
@WiltonRoots They absolutely have had their humble moments, particularly under Iwata. Lest you forget the man cut his own salary to do right by his own employees and they cut the 3DS price by a lot, and gave early adopters free games as compensation. And Reggie fought to get Wii Sports as a pack in. The Mario sports games used to be chock full of content. Their controllers used to be super high quality with little to no issues across the board. Etc.
They've always been a business first and foremost, of course. They need to make money. But they can be more humble in certain aspects if they want to be. If you really think Nintendo has always been ruthless then you don't really know Nintendo.
@sethfranum I'm not referring about just the pricing, though that is part of it; Mario Kart World is a expensive as it is solely because it's Mario Kart and they know it sells a ton. There's also the Welcome Tour that should've been a pack in game. There's the fact that they release half baked games for no reason sometimes, like recent Mario sports games. They never intervened with the whole terrible pokémon situation despite being part owner of the franchise. They got the terrible idea of games key cards that is just terrible for the consumer. So far, it seems like they have not addressed the joy con drift issues, if the tech is to be believed; though I'm not counting this against them yet so long as there's not mass reports of the issue popping up on Switch 2 yet. Their monetization on the mobile market is and has been crazy predatory. Plus they could be a bit more transparent about certain things regarding their workers, like why are we suddenly seeing their voice actors being treated like garbage; incident or is it a common occurrence? Does it happen with more people than just their voice actors?
I don't know whether to be happy or not for this because I still think Nintendo needs another lesson in humbling, but as a fan it is nice to see regardless.
Maybe there's some issues under the hood. For all we know, it could break the system itself in a way. Either way I'm personally not really fussed since I have no interest in this series anyway, but it is interesting to see it running better on Switch 2 when they say there's issues with the game on that system.
Call me cringe but I don't really like the high skill ceiling. Not in Mario Kart. It's just part of the reason why I don't feel compelled to boot this game up anymore after the first two days of playing it.
Yes, it is entirely a skill issue, thanks for noticing.
Admittedly I don't know what to believe anymore, really. Charles could just be saying this because he doesn't want any unnecessary drama to stir up because of him doing something or not, or he could be under contract to say stuff like this to keep Nintendo in a good light, or whatever.
Nintendo does tend to be a bit weird with things sometimes. I just hope that they treat ALL of their people with respect, from the top people all the way to the interns and everyone in between. As outsiders it's easy to condemn them for stuff we don't know the full story about, so I'm not really gonna judge them over stuff like this.
Looking at the pictures released, we have: Barazushi:
Jet Squelcher
Carbon Roller
Splattershot Pro
Splash-o-Matic
Tri-Slosher
Splatana Wiper
Mini Splatling
Dapple Dualies
Tenta Brella
Splat Charger
Splatterscope
Rapid Blaster Pro
REEF-LUX 450
L-3 Nozzlenose
Painbrush
Emberz:
H-3 Nozzlenose
Undercover Brella
.96 Gal
Splat Dualies
Dread Wringer
Splatana Stamper
Tri-Stringer
Splattershot
Aerospray
Ocrobrush
Blaster
Dualie Squelchers
Dynamo Roller
Hydra Splatling
Big Swig Roller
That's all 30, and I think I got them all correct, based on their models. Sadly no Heavy Splatling Remix for me then if this is correct, but they've historically done two waves of new weapons, so maybe we'll get another wave. There are 66 weapons in the game, not counting variants (but counting scoped variants for the Chargers), so I could see a second wave of third kits coming later for all the other weapons. Though the previous two games also didn't have third kits for every weapon, so... who knows, at this point!
I saw the notification on my phone. "A video for Splatoon is available on Nintendo Today." I was like, okay cool, we've had several videos already. Did not expect a new announcement.
They also confirmed 10.0.0 for Splatoon 3 by the way. Third kits plus Urchin Underpass. Plus a visual update for Switch 2.

A very good game, this one. Will definitely play!

Re: Fans Reckon Nintendo Has "Killed" Mario Kart World With Its Latest Update
The intermission stuff is fun but they really don't allow the actual race tracks to shine. Such an unfortunate update for really no reason whatsoever.
They really should have asked themselves WHY people select Random so often instead of doubling down and forcing people.
Re: Another Yoshi Soundtrack Joins Nintendo Music, Here's Every Song Included
The album of my people.
Re: Drag X Drive Switch 2 eShop Price Revealed
That's actually not too bad.
I mean, I'm still not gonna get it for that price because the game really doesn't look that fun or charming to me, but could be worse.
Re: Smash Bros. Pro Loses 11-Year Sponsorship After "Inappropriate Conduct" At Mario Kart World Tournament
Something something don't drink and drive kids.
But yeah, I guess at least he's acknowledging it himself.
Re: Random: Mario Kart World Player 'Breaks' The Game, Takes Flight Over Mario Circuit
Why are people getting so upset at the "broken" part? It's not that serious. In essence, yes it is broken in a way.
A very funny thing to get upset about imho.
Re: Smash Bros. Director Sakurai Laments 'Unsustainable' AAA Game Dev, Discusses AI And Uncertainty
I'm certainly not looking forward to an AI filled future.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Donkey Konga 2
Japan wins once again with NA being a close second. Europe doesn't even participate as far as I'm concerned here.

Thanks, Donkey Kong. 😔

It's a cool feature though.

Re: Talking Point: How Are You Finding Mario Kart's Open World?
I'm so sad that it took us this long to get a new Mario Kart and it's just so undercooked. Free roam is just so boring.

30 new weapons. I hope one of them is the Heavy Splatling Remix! Specifically with that name too, it's too good not to use again.
