I love the game still, but I have to say I'm really disappointed in how the game handles events. Specifically, making it very limited time slots. I just do not understand why this has to be a thing.
Nothing more or less than an 8. It's a really solid game, held back only by the lack of stages in Air Ride and Top Ride modes, maybe having more variety in the city as well, and the relatively little amount of headwear for the characters (but this one is a very tiny nitpick).
The game is really really good and I love it a lot, definitely contender for GOTY for me. I know Sakurai said he doesn't plan to make this a series but I do hope we'll get more Air Ride in the future.
I'll pass. I'd love to play this on my Switch 2, but this file size is way too hard to swallow. Even if I wasn't so against game key cards. If I want to play FFVII so bad I'll just play the original. For the remake I'll just get it on steam eventually. Much easier to manage big files there.
I kinda like the idea of this game, just not sure yet if I'll get it, for reasons others here already stated. Maybe I'll give it a go though if other people would want to play it with me.
Honestly I don't know how much I'll be playing this online (in fact, I think my online playing games are largely over aside from a few games like Splatoon, I'm just more of a solo player), but the way this game handles the checklist thing will definitely help in keeping my interest for a good while. I'm looking forward to receiving it tomorrow!
@benmalsky198 Well, maybe not nothing. But I mean more like, if Kirby as a series doesn't do much for you, then no amount of accessibility is likely going to change that, is what I mean.
Yes I absolutely am, I've already pre ordered it. I barely played the demo but I'll sure as heck play a ton of the full game!
@Aswannsong Did Kirby insult your grandma or something? Goodness, you can trim it down a notch. Kirby games aren't for everyone but the series still has its fans.
Memes aside, this mega evolution is absolute bottom of the barrel garbage in my opinion. I'm not a fan of mega evolution as a whole, but at least a bunch of them still have cool designs. This is mega lame, in comparison. No amount of funny memes will change that for me. But I do appreciate the funny memes.
Edit: what the heck was going on in this comment section by the way, I see several removed messages. Maybe it's better that I don't know.......
Same for me as with JohnnyMind, though for me I prefer the poses/posing on the EU box art more too. It's not as exciting but I think it works in this case.
More companies should hard lock against AI. That garbage is ruining so much. If I find out a game is made using generative AI, I will not want to buy that game. If it's a repeat problem by the developers, I won't buy anything from said developer anymore.
@dew12333 I mean, the Yoshi game has already been announced. And we're absolutely getting a new Mario game. Yoshi games only come out once every blue moon, but Mario games are always an absolute certainty. Patience, he'll get his Switch 2 specific platforming adventure, 100%.
They probably didn't show Yoshi yet, as a way to advertise the new Yoshi game.
As in, they'll show off a new trailer with Yoshi, closer to his game's release. People will be talking about Yoshi more at the time because of the movie trailer that has him in it, and more people may become aware of his new game because of it.
@Willo567 No, I mean that it feels like the ones responsible for these decisions think that way.
All I personally say about people buying this game is that I think it's unfortunate that they're supporting these practices but still hope they have fun playing these games.
@squiddu-real Well, just consider that they consider this the highest price a Switch 2 game can be, and games are usually cheaper than that. As far as I know it really is just Mario Kart World and now Pokopia who are this expensive. Not counting Switch 2 edition upgrades, but you can count those too.
I just found out that in Japan at least, the game is the same price as Mario Kart World. So the most expensive a Switch 2 game has been so far, and more expensive than Donkey Kong Bananza (without DLC).
Let THAT sink in. On top of it being a game key card, this feels like a big fat test of "let's see how far we can push our stupid gullible fans".
I mean, yeah. SAYING you want to support a system a lot is one thing, actually doing it is another thing entirely. I mean, I don't know how many Microsoft games I'll be buying and playing (especially if they all turn out to be game key cards), but I'm sure plenty of other people will want to bust out these games on Switch (2).
@ShadLink If that's the case then just make it switch 2 exclusive. Or do it like they do it with the NSO app on Switch, where it doesn't have music on Switch, but does on Switch 2. Workarounds can be found. No reason not to introduce themes whatsoever.
@ShadLink I never noticed much of that, and if that really was the case, it was very negligible in my opinion. It never bothered me anyway. I'm still hoping for themes, at the very least more basic colors.
Besides, they can just put up themes that come without music. Your desktop or phone wallpaper also comes without music, so that's not mandatory. I assume that won't be too taxing on the system.
Besides besides, the Switch and especially Switch 2 is/are much more powerful than the 3DS. And they can optimize it more. In my opinion, there's really no reason to automatically assume themes will slow things down on Switch (2) as much as you say happened on 3DS.
@MrCarlos46 Probably true, but they have to see that people want it, right? And I can't imagine the 3DS themes sold that badly for them to not bother with it at all on Switch (2). Just feels kinda silly to me.
Lots of additions and changes this time, but nothing really noteworthy. Can't believe we STILL only have the two basic themes, a whole console and a half a year later.
Too early for me to say. I'm not a reviewer, I don't rush through the game to finish it. The game is too big for that.
I guess so far though I'd give it around an 8 maybe, though I'm leaning a bit closer to 7, just because I don't feel like the story is doing much interesting so far, which was kind of a danger when keeping this game fully canon to TotK. But I'll have to see what twists and turns there will be later on.
A 7 is still absolutely not bad though of course, and would still absolutely recommend the game regardless.
It's not perfect so I can't vote that, but it is close to perfect in my eyes. If you ask me, the eye thing is just for the render. Like he's just very happy in the first, and he's flying through space in the second. Both things where he would realistically have his eyes wide open. He'll look 'better' in motion, trust me.
I like his movie design a whole lot really. At least from what we've seen so far. Still need a proper full body image, so we can see his proportions, his stance, how he moves around, etc. Though if the first movie is anything to go by, where Yoshis also appeared briefly, I think that would be absolutely fine.
@antlion I think many people, including me, feel the same way. The first movie just... didn't have time to breathe. If that was done for the kids, I feel like they should've made an extended version for adult and/or longtime fans. It was an okay movie but could've been so much better.
I do hope they took that criticism to heart when making the Galaxy movie, but it does feel too soon as you say. It got us Galaxy 2 on Switch so there's that, but otherwise I see little reason for the first sequel to jump straight into space like that.
We'll see though. I hope they keep Rosalina's personality mysterious and lonely though, like in the first galaxy movie. Little hints of happiness here and there from her Lumas being around, and from Mario (probably) helping her out, but otherwise it just wouldn't be a decent Rosalina introduction I feel.
Also you're darn right this Yoshi is Yosher approved- I don't see how anyone could look at this cute dino and think he's not great! And as said in my first comment, he just fits the art style better I think. Yoshi is clearly Yoshi, but Mario and Peach, for instance, always looked more like other people dressed up as them, to me. Still good, but not quite actually Mario and Peach.
Seeing all these people being happy about being cast in a Zelda game is genuinely quite heart warming especially during times where mass layoffs are a thing. I'm happy for all these people! I've been playing this game quite a bit over the weekend and it's really fun.
Honestly, anyone who likes and respects Dragonball should not choose the US version. It's way too heavily edited to not even be Dragonball anymore. But I guess it was the first Dragonball game so can't blame them too much for changing it at the time.
Japan for me either way. Not a big fan of his the art is awkwardly slapped onto the European one, but it's still leagues better than the US one, imho.

Re: Feature: The Tightest, Briskest Mario & Luigi Game Turns 20 Today And Deserves More Love
I leveled all four characters to 100 back in the day. Dunno how many people can say that. Made the final boss a cakewalk at that point too!
Re: Japanese Charts: Kirby Air Riders Is Off To A Flying Start
Is this the first time the PS5 console series outsold the Switch 1 series of consoles? I genuinely don't recall.
Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment Update 1.0.2 Patch Notes - New Quests, Weapons And Battles Added
Clearly the route they should take is adding Sonia to OG Hyrule Warriors. Then they can keep this game canon and still have Sonia playable somewhere.
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🥲
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's NES And Game Boy Library With Four More Titles
Cool, I'll see if I can peel myself away from Kirby Air Riders for a bit to give these a spin later after work.
Re: Switch Online's Game Boy App Has Been Updated To Version 3.0.0, Adds Boot Screen Easter Egg
I do love this feature, even if it's a small thing. But you know what they say, it IS the little things!
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting A Copy Of Rosalina's Storybook?
Maybe one day, but the fact that the new pages are missing just kinda rubs me the wrong way. It's cool that it exists though.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Kirby Air Riders?

Kirby deserves better! Come on, what're you all doing.
Re: Ongoing MicroSD Shortages Could Have A Knock-On Effect For Switch 2 Storage Availability
I picked one up very close after launch. And I'm already struggling to fit everything. I hate it.
But hey let's all settle on key cards, that makes things WAY better.
Also screw AI so hard. Should be outright banned. Nothing good comes out of it.

Europe because it has Yoshi on the front.

Re: Review: PB Tails Crush 550 TMR Controller For Switch 1 & 2 - A Gorgeous, Fair-Weather Pad With Classic Car Stylings
This thing looks beautiful in my opinion, not sure if I want it at that price point though.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting The New Kirby Air Riders amiibo?
My wallet weeps at the thought of every single character and ride getting an amiibo but I'm getting them all.
Re: Kirby Air Riders In-Game Events Are Planned To Run For A Year After Launch
Nice, that'll certainly help keep the game alive. I've been having a blast with the game so far, it's so good!

Either way, not for me, but still cool.

Hahaha haha ha ha haha ha.....
Noooooooooope.
Also I'm not too worried about Nintendo's own games coming out on these. Pokémon is its own thing.
But I guess the moment Nintendo's own games release on these dreadful things, I'll have to boycott those as well.

Not a bad start. This is a game that definitely deserves to do well. Hoping the next Warriors game won't be Fire Emblem or Zelda though.
