Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (1st November)

Gonna be continuing a little bit of Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered this weekend. Currently almost 8 hours in and having a good time!

In addition, I've actually returned to Runescape recently lol. I saw some news articles talking about how they actually had a poll letting the players decide if they wanted micro transactions removed from the game entirely. I've never seen a game do that before, and it kinda got me playing again!

I ended up dropping Octopath Traveler II last week. Reached about 15 hours and the story just still wasn't doing anything for me. Loved the gameplay and the soundtrack though. I ended up starting Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered currently 4 hours in and definitely plan on playing more today!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (18th October)

Vortexeo

I'm about 13 hours into Octopath Traveler II now. I think the combat and soundtrack are both phenomenal. Admittedly though, the story isn't really doing anything for me right now. I've recruited 5 characters so far and have only finished their chapter 1s. But, the characters don't seem to interact much together. I may continue more this weekend. If I hit 20 hours and still don't feel my enjoyment changing I might just take a break from the game.

I just finished Elden Ring last weekend! It's so crazy how whenever I'd play, hours would just fly by. Admittedly I have no clue what the story was about but I know there's probably some super deep lore so I'm gonna be watching some lore videos soon lol.

I also just picked up Octopath Traveler II. I played the demo almost 2 years ago and I remember really liking it but I never got around to actually buying the game until now. Super excited!

I'm currently about 16 hours into Elden Ring now, and I have to say I am liking the game a lot more now after leveling up more. I'm currently level 43, and I've explored a lot of the map. I'm starting to see the endless possibilities for combat after looking up the types of builds that I want. Really looking forward to playing more of it this weekend.

I'm pretty happy I have a 3-day weekend this week! I'm probably going to be continuing my journey through Heavensward in Final Fantasy XIV. I'm also about 4-5 hours in Elden Ring and I'm not exactly off to the strongest start lol. I'm almost hesitant to explore the world at all because it feels like everything can kill me in 2 hits. Gonna spend some time leveling my stats before moving on.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd August)

Vortexeo

So I actually finally reached the Heavensward expansion in Final Fantasy XIV. Oh my gosh, everyone was right. The game picked up IMMENSELY in the last set of post-game quests for ARR. I might take a short break before diving fully into Heavensward so that I don't burn myself out on FF14.

In addition, a few days ago I started Elden Ring. Admittedly, I never played this game sooner because I always heard how tough the Souls games are. I'm about an hour in now, and I can't wait to play more so I can see what the hype is all about.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (16th August)

Yesterday I just finished The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine DLC! It was a fantastic experience! Almost wish it was a little longer lol. Admittedly, I thought it started kind of slow compared to Hearts of Stone, but once it picked up, it was incredible! I think in the future I may revisit this and play the base game and DLCs back to back.

As for what I'll play next...I haven't decided yet...still trying to figure that out lol.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (9th August)

Vortexeo

Well, earlier this week I finished Final Fantasy V. It was such a wonderful experience, and honestly, I think it might be one of the more replayable pixel remasters thanks to its job system. Now that I've finished that title, I can say I've played through every single mainline Final Fantasy title!

This weekend I'm going to be revisiting The Witcher 3 and I'm finally getting around to its Blood and Wine expansion. I've heard so many good things about this expansion, so I'm really excited to play more of it!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (26th July)

Vortexeo

Well, I finished Final Fantasy XVI last week and man, that game had me pretty emotional towards the end. It really pains me how it has such great moments and eikon fights but the low moments in the story REALLY drag it down.

Now that I've finished XVI I just started the last remaining mainline title in the final fantasy series that I haven't beaten: Final Fantasy V. I'm only 5 hours into it but I already think this game is going to have my favorite combat system out of all the pixel remasters. Can't wait to play more!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (12th July)

Vortexeo

I'm actually turning 25 today, so I'll be spending time celebrating with family! If I do get some time, I'm going to be digging further into Final Fantasy XVI. I'm about 28 hours in now, and I have to admit I'm amazed at how the story has such high highs but such low lows at the same time lol.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (5th July)

Vortexeo

Earlier this week I finished Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. I actually finished the game in just over a week and I've got to say, that was an amazing experience. Truly one of the most well rounded RPGs I've played in recent memory. Would not be surprised at all if it wins game of the year this year.

Since there is a steam sale I bought and started Final Fantasy XVI and I'm currently about 13 hours in. I've been waiting to play this game for quite some time and I'm only now getting to it but I'm liking it so far! After I finish this, I'd only have Final Fantasy V to play before I can say I played every single mainline Final Fantasy!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (21st June)

Yesterday, I actually finished the epilogue for Xenoblade Chronicles X. Took me about 74 hours altogether, and I'm looking forward to doing the post-game! I'm not gonna lie though, I have some opinions on the epilogue that I might write out further in the forum, but I'm not the biggest fan of where the story ended up going. I feel like the plot twist that was built after chapter 12 in the original game didn't have very satisfying answers. I guess everyone being alive despite the lifehold core being destroyed wasn't even related to the planet? That was a bit disappointing because Mira itself is probably the biggest strength of Xenoblade X

Re: Best Xenoblade Chronicles Games Of All Time

Vortexeo

Man, I love this series so much. Every entry being at least an 8/10 is pretty crazy to think about. I think future connected is the only real underwhelming thing I've played from the series but I guess that technically doesn't count as a separate game or dlc. It's definitely more like an extra chapter. Xenoblade is the only RPG series where I've beaten almost every game to 100% completion (XC2 and XCX are the only ones that I haven't but I played on doing it for XCX when it releases on switch!)

I think my personal ranking would be
1. XC1
2. XC3
3. Torna
4. Future Redeemed
5. XCX
6. XC2
7. FC (if we were to count it lol)

Re: Your 'Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2024' Stats Are Available Now

Vortexeo

@garfreek it wasn't necessarily intentional, I think just a lot happened in my personal life. I had finished grad school earlier this year and after I graduated my motivation to play drastically dropped. I guess I wasn't prepared for how directionless life could feel after finishing school 😂

Spent a lot of time this year trying to make new friends, try new hobbies, etc. Really planning on picking gaming back up again next year though 👌

Re: Your 'Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2024' Stats Are Available Now

Vortexeo

2024 was a very different year for me on a personal level, lots of changes and it definitely shows in my game time lol.

This year on my switch I played a total of 119 hours and didn't even play any new releases outside of the beginning of M&L Brothership.

By comparison:
2023 - 578 hours
2022 - 594 hours
2021 - 804 hours
2020 - 2077 hours
2019 - 1016 hours

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (20th April)

Vortexeo

So I'm now 12 hours into Final Fantasy VII Remake and you know...I have to admit this game is kind of boring 😅. The original game was fantastic, even after replaying it earlier this year it's still wonderful. But with the remake, you can seriously feel where it's being stretched out. When the plot moves it's awesome but right now I have a tough time bringing myself to play for more than one hour at a time.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th March)

Vortexeo

I finished Crisis Core last weekend! It was actually quite a bit shorter than I was expecting and the encounter rate was pretty high but I enjoyed my time with it. Pretty much immediately after finishing it I started up Final Fantasy VII Remake. I have been wanting to play this game for quite some time but never got around to it. Now that I've replayed the original and finished Crisis Core, it feels like the perfect time to jump in lol. I'm only 3 hours in but so far so good.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd March)

Vortexeo

Last weekend I finished Tales of Zestiria and oh my God the second phase of the final boss was so hard lol. Took me quite a few tries to beat him 😅

This weekend I'll be jumping more into Crisis Core. I'm currently on chapter 4 and it's been pretty fun so far! I admit the encounter rate is a little high though.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (16th March)

Vortexeo

So I'm 27 Hours into Tales of Zestiria and I think the game is starting to lose steam. I didn't realize that the game gates main story progress behind finding all the Iris Gems so I've gotta go find the rest of them 😅. Idk how much more is left in the game but I'm hoping to finish it this weekend.

Outside of that I finally bought Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion. The game went on sale recently and given that I just finished my second playthrough of the OG FF7 in February, I figured now would be a great time to pick it up. If Zestiria really ends up dragging I may opt to play this instead.

Re: Best Monster Hunter Games, Ranked - Switch And Nintendo Systems

Vortexeo

@Fizza I can't really speak for the main series because I'm in the same boat as you lol. I also tried the demo for Monster Hunter Rise and wasn't really feeling it. That being said, I do think you will enjoy Monster Hunter Stories 2. That's the only game in the series I played all the way through (I even did post-game and online co-op as well). It's quite different from the main series but I thought it was really fun
