Re: Nintendo Direct To Air Tomorrow, 23rd September

Vortexeo

It's happening?? Damn I really thought it wasn't! 😂

I'm sure we'll see more on Advanced Wars 1+2 but I have no clue what else they'd show. I feel like they gave a lot of information for Metroid dread and SMT 5 already...maybe we'll get a demo for some of these? 🤔

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 18th)

I finished up West of loathing earlier this week and it was a great experience! It's such a hilarious game lol. As of lately I've had this massive craving to play Xenoblade Chronicles X because that's the only Xenoblade I haven't played yet. After watching the trailers over and over, along with the recent Xenoblade 3 rumors I got really impatient and just bought it lol. I wanted to replay Xenoblade 1 and 2 but I figured I'd wait until Xenoblade 3 is actually confirmed.

I started Xenoblade X only a couple days ago and I've gotta say I am completely hooked! I already put 10 hours into the game and I'm currently on chapter 4. Exploring the world in this game is sooooo much fun. I enjoyed exploring a lot in Xenoblade 1 and 2 but this one wins when it comes to exploration. There are times when I want to skip cutscenes just so I could get back to exploring lol. I've never felt that way about any game before because I usually play for the story.

The gameplay is also fantastic as well. I saw this YouTube video a while back that has a build for the party which allows them to do 100,000,000 damage! I've always enjoyed doing such high damage in the Xenoblade games. In Xenoblade DE the most amount of damage I've done in a chain attack was 1.2 million and in Xenoblade 2 I managed to reach 7 million (although I heard without Xenoblade 2s damage cap you can do something insane like 2 billion damage in a chain attack). I'm really looking forward to seeing how I can optimally build my party but as of right now I'm really hooked on finding all the secrets this world has 😂.

I'm very happy I chose to buy the game instead of waiting for a potential switch port. Now if monolith does end up porting this game I've got no problem double dipping for this one! This game should definitely hold me over until monolith soft announces whatever they've been working on.

Last night I ended up getting Street Fighters 30th Anniversary Collection which I am super excited to give a try! I had 924 gold coins and buying it gave me 75 more so I had exactly enough gold coins to buy quake for free! I initially wasn't gonna buy the anniversary collection just yet because I know it goes on sale all the time. But seeing that it would give me just enough gold coins for quake (which I REALLY wanted to try), and that it was the last hour of the sale...I just couldn't resist 😂

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Week? (August 28th)

Last week I started NEO: The World Ends With You and I'm currently on the final day of week 3 which I'm assuming is close to the end of the game. I've gotta say I REALLY enjoy this game. It's been a long time since I was this hooked on a game before. At the end of week 1 when "Neku" comes in the save the day I was SO hyped to see him return. However I had a feeling that it wasn't actually Neku because I was like "wasn't his hair orange?" But, I just assumed he changed his hair color or something. When it was revealed in week 2 that "Neku" was actually my man BEAT I freaking exploded 😂😂😂. I considered that "Neku" was Rindos friend swallow along with a few other guesses but I NEVER considered beat. God I haven't had this much fun guessing, making theories and being blown away since Xenoblade 1! (Also the optimism that beat has throughout the game and his misinterpretation of many things makes him my favorite character lol.) This moment made me incredibly happy that I chose to play the original game before playing the sequel.

I've also gotta say Motoi really fooled me with his nice guy act. I didn't even have any suspicions about him and I really thought he was genuinely helping us. Given the situation he was in, I did kind of understand his way of thinking but man, I felt bad for rindo.

There's so many more things that I want to talk about but I'll just sum it up and say this just might edge out Monster Hunter Stories 2 as my favorite game released this year! Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna go finish up week 3!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 21st)

I finished The World Ends With You on my DS earlier this week and I loved it! I have no clue why but the soundtrack sounds so nostalgic despite the fact that I haven't heard any of the songs before. Truthfully, I probably would have continued to do the post game of the original, but I REALLY wanted to dive straight into the sequel. That being said, I bought Neo: The World Ends With You yesterday and so far it's an absolute blast! I've got 1 week before school starts back again, so I'm gonna try and make as much progress as possible.

I also finished Mario Golf: Super Rush earlier this week as well. I had a great time with the golf adventure mode. Monster Hunter Stories 2 also keeps pulling me back in with it's post game content. It's funny with this game I only intend on playing for a few minutes and doing a couple side quests but I always end up playing for a couple hours because I'm always finding stuff to do!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 14th)

So I played hades some more and idk what happened but I just really started struggling to enjoy it. I'm a little disappointed because it clearly is a good game but it just isn't as addicting to me as it is for others. Last night I was trying to push myself to do more runs and after I got halfway into one run I got tired lol. I'm assuming I just got burnt out so I'll return to it later.

I started The World Ends With You on my DS earlier this week. I'm only on day 5 but I am REALLY enjoying this one! The combat is pretty complex but I like it so far! I also started West of Loathing which is pretty hilarious (or maybe I just have a dumb sense of humor). I'm gonna be playing more Mario Golf: Super Rush this weekend as well! Last weekend my brother managed to get a hole in one and we popped off so hard 😂

Re: Community: What Was Your First Ever Nintendo Game?

Vortexeo

I have a hard time remembering which console I played on first. I think my first exposure was at this after-school program when I was in kindergarten. They had an N64 there and I used to watch some of the kids try and make it to the end of StarFox 64, but I never played it myself until years later. I also have a bit more vivid memories of playing smash bros melee on my cousin's Gamecube as well. The first console that I actually owned myself was the Nintendo Wii!

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Rumours Intensify

Vortexeo

Y'know while I'm definitely excited for a new Xenoblade game I actually didn't really want it to be a direct sequel. The only Xenoblade game that really needs a direct sequel would be Xenoblade Chronicles X.

That being said I'm really doubting this rumor because it says it's the last Xenoblade game. Are they really just gonna go straight to Xenoblade 3 and not do anything with Xenoblade X?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 7th)

Vortexeo

So last week I finished up monster hunter stories 2 and it was awesome! I'm excited to dive a bit into the post game but I think I'll take a break from it for now.

This weekend I'm going to try and dive more into Hades. I also may try and finish up Mario Golf: Super Rush! Truth be told I REALLY want to buy Ys IX and NEO: TWEWY but I've been trying to hold off until I clear the backlog a bit more.

Re: Review: Cris Tales - A Gorgeous Indie JRPG That Does Just Enough To Stand Out

Vortexeo

I was really interested in this game and I really enjoyed the demo. Honestly though, that type of save structure really gets on my nerves. I remember one time in FF X I was pretty low on health but I saw a save point nearby so I didn't bother to heal my party...lol. I ended up getting one of those random encounters that ambush you right before I reached the save point so they went first and wiped my party. I might still pick the game up but I'll wait for a sale.

Re: Switch Basics: How To Archive And Delete Switch Games To Clear Space

Vortexeo

I used to have a 128 GB sd card and would just archive the games I didn't intend on playing again after beating them but man...it got to a point where I just struggled so much on deciding what to archive lol. I upgraded to a 400 GB card and so far I haven't had trouble with archiving things but man, if I do run into that again I'm just gonna start buying more physical copies

Re: Talking Point: Everyone Has A Bad Game They Love, So What's Yours?

Vortexeo

I guess mine would be Xenoblade Chronicles 2? It isn't objectively bad compared to others but I can admit it does have its share of issues and got a pretty immense amount of backlash. I didn't even realize how divisive that game was until I beat it. Despite all of its flaws I still find myself coming back to it lol.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 10th)

Vortexeo

On Monday this week I finished FFX-2! I've gotta say, I know a lot of people don't like that one but I still really enjoyed it! I've got "1000 words" stuck in my head lol.

Last night I also finished Super Mario Galaxy! I don't think I'm gonna try to complete it to 100% because I already did a couple times on Wii. But man, the storybook and ending get me everytime even after so many years. Initially I didn't want to play through the game again but I'm very glad I chose to do it!

My birthday falls on Monday but we're going to celebrate it this weekend. I'm going to get Monster Hunter Stories 2! Can't wait to play it!

Re: Dante, Shantae And More Join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate As Mii Fighter Costumes

Vortexeo

@TheFrenchiestFry I know that. But Dante is just one of many action game "poster boys": Ryu from Ninja Gaiden, Adol from Ys, and so many more came before him.

From the way the smash community hypes up Dante, you'd think his series was as big as Street Fighter, but in reality, it's not even half as popular. The fact that I've seen people actually claim Devil May Cry is bigger and "more iconic" than Tekken leads me to believe that some of the people asking for him are definitely bandwagon fans.

I'm not saying Devil May Cry didn't have any influence but it definitely isn't as big as parts of the smash community make it out to be.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 26th)

Vortexeo

Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to play anything this past week. Last night though I did buy Mario Golf and installed the Demo for Ys IX, Monster Hunter Stories 2, and NEO: The World Ends With You. All of them are so good but I have no clue when I'm gonna actually be able to finish any of them lol.

Re: Potential Switch Port Round-Up - The Wii U Games That Haven't Come To Switch

Vortexeo

One day Xenoblade Chronicles X....one day...

If I had to guess, I feel like the game would be ported over in 2022 (assuming they're actually gonna do it). I have this theory that 2022 will be very similar to 2017. BOTW, Splatoon 2, and Mario Rabbids all released in 2017. Now, all of those games are getting new titles in 2022. Since Xenoblade 2 was also a 2017 game....maybe....just maybe lol.
