@Savage_Joe For real, so many people are hypocrites. No one bats an eye when a sonic clone comes around but a survival game that has some elements of Pokemon? UNETHICAL, PLAGIARISM, AI, UNORIGINAL. Smh
Oh sweet, Knuckles is my favorite in the Sonic games so I will have to check this out. Admittedly I have not seen the movies but I have heard good things about them
Its a shame that Bandai-Namco have never released Tekken collections as that is one of my favorite fighting series. You think it would be a no brainer and perfect for the Switch. Closest we have is Pokken Tournament which was developed by Tekken devs
Honestly I have almost no faith in the Pokemon company. If the next gen game doesn't run at a stable 60fps with an open world and fully fleshed out mechanics then I'm just done with the series. Everything about Sca/Vio felt so half baked and it runs like garbage still
@NielsNL Uh, no. Its a survival game first and foremost. Most of the time you will be gathering, harvesting, collecting items to build a base and your Pals can help you with all the labor that goes into that. Guns don't come until later in the game, you usually just start with basic weapons like spears and bows and have to work your way up to the stronger items. Combat is very similar to Legends Arceus except 1. Your "trainer" can actually fight as well and 2. the Pals act on their own, you don't issue commands to them.
Palworld does so many things right that I wish we got in games like Arceus. Sure, the whole gun aspect is stupid IMO but it does give the game its own identity. You can still play the game without guns and without slaughtering pals and treat it like a normal survival/farm sim/monster collector which is great
Wow the salt is real lol. Haters looking for things like "oh no it's a clone" "it's a rip off". No it's a solid game that's in early access and is in every way better than Pokemon except in creature designs in my opinion. The game is fantastic and if you are a Pokemon fan or just monster collector RPG fan in general do yourself a favor and try the game at least. PSA: you can refund steam games within 2 hours after purchase
This game is like if Pokemon Legends Arceus, BotW, and Valheim/Rust had a baby. It's really good guys. If you can play it I highly recommend it. The designs are pretty good for the Pals, obviously they were heavily inspired by Pokemon but you know what they say about imitation. Anyways it feels like Arceus but with way more content and can actually run above 30 fps lol Gamefreak better be taking notes. Oh and it's 30 dollars, which is how much Arceus should have been...
@Purgatorium It depends on how they use it. If they are extremely lazy and just take whatever the AI spits out then yea it won't be good. But if the artists can take AI art and mold it into actual art then that's fine IMO
Glad to hear this but we will see how they approach it. I've always been an advocate of "quality over quantity" for video games. I will say that Square has been pretty good with quality though even though the games have been flooding out. I can't remember the last bad Square game that I played honestly. Bravely Default 2, Live-A-Live, Trials of Mana, Collection of Mana, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy XVI, Triangle Strategy....all bangers in my opinion.
When it comes to consoles that are complete bangers, I never give them up. I still have my OG PS2 with all the games, same goes with the Switch. Its just too good to give up, regardless of financial situations
I just want Nintendo to reveal the console already, I'm so tired of seeing these switch successor rumor articles, feels like it's been going on for ages...it will come when it comes people. Play some games in the meantime
To me Super Nintendo Switch makes the most sense and it would still help it distinguish itself from the OG Switch, I mean it worked just find for the NES to SNES transitions
I just got into World recently and I am having a blast. Capcom just proves time and time again that they are masters at crafting combat systems in games. I plan to be done with World once Dragon's Dogma 2 releases and that will hold me for quite a while. I'm in no rush for Wilds since 2024 is going to be stacked like 2023
Shame that Super Mario RPG isn't on the list, although it is a pretty short game and this is most played which I'm assuming means total game hours? Or is it how many people played the game?
I can see Nintendo announcing the console this year with a 2025 release date, so yea I think we have one more year before we get a successor. I'm fine with that because there are so many games in my back log to keep me satisfied until then
To be honest, I don't care about accessibility. I don't have any disabilities that would prevent me from enjoying games however I do see the need for it as there are plenty of disabled gamers out there. Accessibility in games means more people playing which means more money for the company and happier fans
I may have to give Cassette Beasts a try when it releases, although from what I've seen with the monster designs I'm not that impressed but I won't write it off
I actually didn't like the fact that they used the same jobs from the first game, I wish they would have mixed it up and gave us characters with different jobs
Scarlet and Violet have been very mediocre in my eyes. The story wasn't very intriguing and the difficulty is still insultingly easy. And don't even get me started on the graphical and technical issues...I wish someone else would lead the games going forward instead of these old dudes who have been there since the beginning and then maybe we would get some innovations
I'm pretty excited to see more of Shinobi and Streets of Rage. I actually never got into JSR but I keep hearing great things about it so I might have to check that out. I'm really interesting in seeing if Sega will revive Virtua Fighter. They did say they have more projects coming so I'm hopeful
@FuecocoBoi09 At first I was like no more Scarlet and Violet please but now that I think about it, if they just give us more DLC in order to make more time for the next entry then I would be happy with that. They really do need to slow down and take their time, otherwise we will get more rushed crud like S/V
@Anti-Matter Its foolish to think that any of the indie competitors could "dethrone" Pokemon. Despite having a bunch of technical issues with their 3D games, Pokemon still sells millions of copies each year, something only indie devs could dream of. Its not incompetence that is ruining these games, it is corporate greed, plain and simple. These devs are forced to push out games every year and are on a super time crunch which is why these games come out in the state we see
I find that whole situation interesting. I don't hate the guy. I mean this is an example of how much gray there is in the world. It's not black and white like some people paint it. Clearly some greed weighed in on his decision to not donate for nearly 10 years and he did lie so there is that. I would imagine it went to the donation centers already and his career has been ruined pretty much so I'd call it even now
Don't get me wrong, TotK deserves the title of my favorite 2023 game this year. However, my pick actually goes to Super Mario RPG for a number of reasons. 1). I'm being completely biased 2). The game was very well made and very faithful to the original game. 3). Seeing Geno and Mallow in 3D was amazing. I will admit, it was a bit overpriced and came out too close to Wonder but still, fantastic game. My list in order:
I honestly feel bad for the devs that work on current day Pokemon games. They are time crunched like crazy to pump these out yearly. They really need to let the main line series rest for a bit and give us some fun spin-offs in the mean time
TotK, Fire Emblem Engage, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 were my top 3. I was surprised about FE being my number 2 since it felt like I didn't play it that long but apparently I did lol
@kkslider5552000 I agree. I think the ads are partly how they make their money back from spending all that money for the venue, hollywood stars, endorsements, etc. I would prefer it if it was more lowkey: like here are world premier trailers then the awards are pre-recorded by the winners and is showcased as a digital event.
I mean, in this day and age, E3 isn't necessary any more. Between companies just doing their own thing like Nintendo Directs and leaks flooding in constantly people get their dose of upcoming games on the reg. Then there is the Game Awards which I personally hate but it is a big gaming event. Back in the day, the only way to get world exclusive announcements was watching E3 on the TV but the digital age has completely changed that landscape
