The World of Corporate is a ever-expanding ocean. Never to end, always going on forever.

After the Survival Lego, Rockband, and Racing genres entered the ecosystem (not to mention a large variety of Marvel / Lucusfilm skins in the Battle Royale already) this happening was only a matter of time.

I can’t see Mickey and Cinderella joining the battle royale component somehow though, but I guess this does explain why EPIC have been tampering with age gating certain cosmetics in various modes… it’s was all in preparation for this.

In any case, whilst I do really enjoy Fortnite (because it’s only trendy to pretend it’s awful), I am very concerned about how the younger audience are going to get drawn to the purchase areas for various Disney goodies. There are going to be some next level predatory mind games going on upon release.

@Regulus6891 it's kinda terrible that kids only play Fortnite and Minecraft these days. Don't get me wrong, I love Minecraft, but I fear that "gaming culture" isn't gonna carry over to that generation when all they're playing is the same 2-3 games.

Seriously though, all this nonsense with these huge buyouts and lack of care and creativity from these publishers and devs of these modern titles just makes me yearn for the days of the late 90's to mid 2000's where it felt like gaming was at its peak compared to now where everything feels disposable and lifeless.

Fortnite Disney World where everyone is their own Disney mascot trying to lay waste to one another. I can see why not, imagine Aladdin using the genie against the legendary King Triton of Atlantis from the Little Mermaid. It could be Epic.

@HeftyLaces for my part, I have 6 kids in the house that play videogames 5-19), and the idea that they only play Fortnite and Minecraft is silly. They love Mario, Mario Kart, Mortal Kombat, Teardown, the recent Spiderman games, GTA , Elden Ring, Little Nightmares, Spyro, CoD, Terraria, etc etc etc.

Not going to happen but here me out….Rallen….cranking 90s, if they gave me him I would love it tbh lol. (Please epic Disney make it happen!)

I think what really frustrates me about this, is what Fortnite has become. I've never actually played it, but respected it for what it was. It was a simple yet fun looking online shooter for kids. It's genuinely like a corporate, dystopian Roblox "we have every game" knockoff now with every conceivable brand in it you could imagine. What the HELL happened?!

When you're told to "shop" as one of the main activities ... in a videogame ... you've got to be missing brains cells. How much glitter and sparkle do you need ?!

I feel like Disney doesn't even have the money to be wasting on stuff like this right now but okay.

At some point can government regulators stop looking at their brokerage account and I don’t know, actually apply the law? How big does the house of mouse have to become, and how many industries does it need to reach it’s tentacles into before anti-trust Teddy raises from the dead to say enough.

I didn't know Disney had money to waste, they just increased the price of Disney+ saying that times are tough and they are throwing billions to Epic

I tried to play the new guitar hero thing on Fortnite. My first time ever attempting anything in the “universe”. It was the most convoluted, difficult mess I’ve ever experienced in a game. I couldn’t create a character. Like customization didn’t even let me make a name. It just had me choose what kind of player I was for other people to see or something. It took me forever to find controller button remapping. The controls for the third person walking part weren’t even available unless I quit out of the guitar hero and opened up the third person game. I couldn’t launch a single player version to learn how to play without having a bunch of online people be a party to me practicing. I couldn’t even pause the game as it kept playing the song while I was trying to navigate the mess. And the whole main menu was like a Netflix ripoff that didn’t even make sense.

To say the least I gave up after an hour or so of messing around and won’t ever, ever try it again.

I’m just shocked Disney has that kind of money left to invest in something like this. They’ve kinda been hemorrhaging money after all the box office flops.

@HeftyLaces people only playing popular multiplayer games has been a thing since the ps3/360 days. People just want an easy way to play with their friends and there’s nothing wrong with that. There will always be people who love gaming as a hobby like us and people who just want to have some fun online

The good news is they can't actually put in Kingdom Hearts into Fortnite. Because Nomura hates cross-overs that would go counter to his own lore. It's why getting Sora into Smash was such a hassle. Not because Disney, but becasue Nomura didn't want Kirby to have a Keyblade (he is wrong)

Next thing you'll tell me is that a new Disney princess will canonically come from Fortnite. Remember the whole Palpatine return from Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, which was like a major plot point of the movie but not shown in any movie but in a Fortnite event?

People are forgetting that it's not a gaming hub for other games. Fortnite isn't just a BR game. I think it'll be a similar game to Dreamlight Valley. Imagine being able to explore the different worlds of Disney. First stop, Lion King.
