Day one for me. TBH, most Nintendo first party games will be launch day buys for me. Excited for more Switch 2 exclusive experiences.

Mine has zero marks BUT I did put a glass screen protector on it immediately. Before even transferring my data, that was step 1 after unboxing.

I have no issues with the camera outside being unable mount in handheld mode. What a glaring omission. This was in my launch day list but I ended up passing on it. I still want a camera but I think I’ll hold out for something that offers the unity of the Hori options with the higher resolution of the Nintendo option.

87% giving it a 8 or higher? Sounds damn good to me. This may be my next Switch 2 purchase.

Talking about the 256GB memory filling quickly, does anyone have any experience with the Onn microSD cards? They have a 256GB Express card for $36 and 512GB for $66. These are considerably cheaper than most other Express card options. I believe the Onn brand is owned by Wal-Mart. I really need to get a memory card as my next purchase but prefer a 512BG of 1TB option that isn’t ridiculously priced.

Love it! Nintendo is so important to gaming that it makes me happy to see the succeed (when deserved, of course). I help contribute to launch sales with one unit. Still have 4 more Switch units in my home to upgrade, hopefully all before Christmas.

I have zero complaints about my Switch 2 screen. Coming from a launch model Switch, the panel is so much better. I still think the clarity, contrast, and brightness of my daughter’s OLED are better.

I may bite on an OLED upgrade in the future, especially if it comes with battery gains as well.

I have this on my PS5 via PS+ but never got around to playing it. Planning on holding off now and playing it on Switch 2 instead. So much easier for me to sink time into a game in handheld mode. Really looking forward to revisiting this story after decades.

@The_Nintend_Pedant my initial thought was 2025. I feel like “this winter” means this year, otherwise they would have said next winter.

The over saturation of farm/life sims is bothersome to me. I know these don’t stop other games/genres from coming to Switch but they feel like the new shovelware. Like when everyone released a Wii Sports knock-off.

For $10 less ($29.99) it’s infinitely more compelling but for $19.99 it would be bought with 9 of 10 Switch units. Wild people think a plain case is worth $40.

I’ll probably just pick up a generic $15 case on Amazon until we get some cooler options. Everything available right now is pretty boring black or grey. Not many color cases or game/character themed cases yet.

Not planning on ponying up $40 for a case that can hardly be differentiated from a cheap Amazon generic case.

I played Suikoden HD for about 3 hours last night. Started in the 90s and was in the 20s when I stopped. My guess is I could have gotten a full 4 hours on a 100% battery if playing until 0%.

That’s ok I guess. Gonna run a test on my OG Switch (launch version) and see how it holds up in comparison.

Definitely think a portable battery pack will be needed. What’s the best options for Switch 2?

Haven’t played much today, but starting tomorrow around 2pm through the weekend, I will be putting my Switch to work.

@antster1983 Awesome! I didn’t get my invite until May 15th, so I figured no way was it going to arrive on release day. I figured I’d be in a second or 3rd wave of shipments. Definitely a pleasant surprise. I’m heading on a weeklong road trip so it couldn’t have worked out more perfectly.

Did you get the MKW bundle? Any other accessories or games?

I got the bundle only, but I’ll probably upgrade TotK and finally finish it.

Just got my email confirmation from Nintendo this morning that my Switch 2 is on the way! So hyped! Still going to try my luck on launch day at Best Buy or Target to see if I can’t secure another console or 2.

We have 5 Switch owners in my home and all are wanting to upgrade so I’ll be battling the scalpers and crowds for a while.

@Joeynator3000 I hear that. I’m about 90% digital myself. If you are cool with sites like G2A, digital copies can be had for $40-$45.

I thought the games were fine. Probably unpopular opinion but I enjoyed SwSh much more. Never finished SV DLC, so I may do that once my Switch 2 arrives (please let it on or close to launch day 🙏)

@Joeynator3000 both are currently 25% off (physical) and Scarlett was as cheap as $35 earlier this year.

This looks very cute. My 9 year old daughter would love this. So many of these life-sim games now, it’s hard to know which series to get.

Pretty nice controller. Idk why but never been a fan of any third party controllers for really any console. I didn’t pre-order the Switch 2 Pro controller, so if it’s not available at launch, I’ll just stick with my current Pro controllers for now and pick up a S2 version down the line.

Not really interested as my kids have moved beyond some of these simpler sports games. My little nephew would probably love it.

Holding out hope we get an updated NBA Street or home console version of the arcade game NBA SuperStars.

This would be nice if you want to bring the Switch to a friend’s house for gaming session on the TV. Or if you’re a kid and you’re visiting your grandparents over the summer or maybe having a a sleepover at a friend’s.

Nice if you’re renting an AirBnB too. We travel a few times a year where we stay 5-7 days, so packing up the dock is something I actually might do.

All that said, the price is ridiculous. This should be $49.99 MAX.

I missed the initial pre-order window, not for lack of trying. Luckily, I got my pre-order invite from Nintendo back on the 14th and placed an order for the Mario Kart bundle. My order status recently changed to “ready to ship”, so hopefully that means I will be getting my console on or close to launch day.

I have three other people in my home who want to upgrade their switch as well, so we may try to take advantage of one of these launch day sales. Maybe we get lucky and are able to secure a second or third console.

These “check to see if good fit” comments always crack me up. EA used to say this all the time for their sports games. Uhhh…there are going to be 100m Switch 2 owners…you’ll have the market if you make a good game. Even if just 5% are interested, that’s 5m sales in a single platform.

@JJtheTexan @8bitKirby, tbf…SNW in California is about half the size of the iteration at Epic. Same for the version in Japan. Not really even comparable.

BUT I would say no iteration is worth the price of admission on its own. Tickets are too much for just a single land, IMO.

@JJtheTexan honestly, you could probably spend 5 hours in SNW alone.

I’d say the average wait time for Mario, Yoshi, & DK would be about an hour each. So that’s 3 hours. If you stop to shop, have lunch in Toad’s Cafe, grab a banana ice cream float in DK area, maybe a Yoshi smoothie (apple melon is way better than the mango, plus it’s Yoshi green!), do the Mario & Luigi photo op, “break” all the ? boxes you would probably be around 5 hours.

I went to Epic last Friday & spend about 3 hours in SNW. I did pretty much the entire park in 11 hours, missing only 1 ride in the Isle of Berk.

Not sure I’d personally recommend doing only 1 land, but there is definitely enough to keep you busy for 5 hours.

@Vectrex Universal invested $7 billion dollars in this park. It will be booming for a decade at minimum.

Zelda would be an incredible expansion. They already have a huge expansion lot beside SNW, so the space is there. I could definitely see Zelda getting a DK sized area of its own that is connected to the main SNW area.

I went to Epic last Friday and I was blown away. As a lifelong Nintendo fan, they really did the IP justice.

As for attractions, has anyone ridden Avatar: Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom?

Just imagine that but you are flying on a loftwing over Hyrule. Would be a home run.

I’ll be getting the Pro 2 controller but this could be a good “second player” option. Always nice to have extra controllers without needing to drop $99 every time.

I order a couple weeks ago when I got the invite since I was unable to order from Best Buy during the pre-order period. I'm hoping Nintendo can fulfill my order close to launch.

@Thomystic - They didn’t explain any features. They didn’t explain the new Joy-Con mechanisms or why there is a 2nd USB port on the top. Clearly they want to talk about functionality later.

I’d guess it was left blank intentionally as this video was not released to provide info on features, just hardware. I’m sure they want to keep whatever functionality that button provides under wraps until April.

I really do not understand the complaints. People are actually upset that we are getting more/free content? It is a little strange that we’re getting it so late but I really enjoy this game especially when I’m playing co-op locally with friends/family. Will absolutely be trying Basketball on Wednesday.

I actually wish we had gotten more updates. I feel like boxing baseball and maybe even ice hockey or lacrosse could have been other worthwhile updates along the way.

This game is also on mobile (Android/iOS). I wonder if there will be crossplay or if Switch players will be in their own server? I feel like this game will need the mobile community to have enough players to keep things interesting.

I'll probably try it out once it launches, but I won't be spending any money on cosmetics.

2-players? Two? Not 4? It's a freaking TMNT brawler/beat 'em up, how can you not include the ability for all 4 turtles to fight together?

Dang, they couldn't have made the Switch itself red, like they did with the standard Mario edition Switch. Just red joy-cons and dock is kinda lazy. The only unique thing would be the red dock.

(Going by the rumors) Splatoon OLED > Zelda OLED > Pokemon OLED > Mario OLED

Looks good. Never played it on PS3. I’ll definitely pick it up…once it hits $29.99 or less.

I doubt it will get there but maybe with aggressive bundles or discounts

I think this game looks fun and I’ll definitely get it eventually. There will be the inevitable LEGOA sale with 30-50% off in a couple months and that’s when I’ll likely pull the trigger

@RareFan only 2 Illumination movies have ever made a billion at the box office (out of 13 movies) with only 2 others having got close. This is still definitely a rare feat for Illumination. Mario movies seems to have great legs but I don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion it will pass Despicable Me 3 or Minions.

Switch successor announcement incoming

I don’t see any way for it not to be a hybrid console. Nintendo has been king of the handheld market for sometime now, and I don’t see them abandoning that anytime soon. It’s also highly doubtful that they would abandon the home console market. They have learned from the Switch that it is much easier to develop for one console instead of having a dedicated handheld completely separate from a dedicated home console. Seems nearly impossible to expect them to throw all those lessons out the window.

@thecricket I watched the announcement trailer and the gameplay clip ( Neclord battle from S2) and they absolutely made changes/updates to dialogue. I spotted new dialogue in the scene where Nanami & Riou wait outside Muse for Jowy. Also in the Neclord battle they refer to the Star Dragon Sword as the Celestial Sword instead.

I wonder if they’ve taken out the glitches like the Matilda glitch or infinite money glitch?

This is my all-time favorite JRPG series and I could not be more excited! I would have gladly settled for a straight port but this is beyond amazing. Absolutely a day 1 purchase for me. Best gaming news I’ve got in some time!

My daughter absolutely loves Splatoon. Probably her favorite game on Switch. She cannot wait for S3 to drop in Sept. I showed her this and she was in full 😍🥰 mode! Hopefully they won’t get all bought up by scalpers before people can buy them.
