Re: Opinion: One Year On, Every Positive 'Pokémon TCG Pocket' Update Still Comes With A Catch

SpaceboyScreams

@nukatha They dropped the streak challenges pretty quick, many many months ago. Of the hundreds if not a couple thousands of ranked battles I've done I've never lost to a Misty turn one, she's still very handy and sometimes broken and I'm sure it happens sometimes but it's much more rare since the meta in the first couple sets. Not trying to be argumentative, but if those were your main complaints it might be safe to try it again someday.

7 is about right. I do enjoy it for what it is as someone who is entirely free-to-play besides getting premium this month because I wanted to load up on shinedust for 2star trades next month (every EX pack guarantees a EX card which is 700 shinedust if you already have it, so I've gotten over 200k shinedust this month just from opening packs every day which is worth 8 2star trades). I'd love to spend a little money to amplify the experience but at $5 per 10-pack that's a bit rich for my blood, especially after all of the bummer 10-packs I've opened for free, I can easily see myself wasting a lot of money until I get what I want which is just not the type of value exchange I'm interested in.
I don't go for master ball because the reward is barely worth the effort, I'll get to Ultra 2 or 3 for a quick and easy 80 hourglasses and spend the rest of my time arranging my binders. I wish there was more to do, like a single player campaign ala the GBC game from the 90's. That, a smoother UI and a fair pricing on extra packs would see me hooked for years to come. As it stands I'm not sure how much longer I'll stick around.

Re: Reminder: Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws Demo For Switch 2 Is Now Available

SpaceboyScreams

Parts of it are really rough looking still, like the cutscenes where so many of the textures just jump in when they feel like it, the shadows on faces are terrible, and the haloing/ghost trail effect around a lot of things as you pan the camera, and especially how low-res her hair looks. Then parts of it are really pretty. The rough parts are enough to completely dissuade me though. If they can fix it (and let me have another demo) then I'm all in.

Re: No Man's Sky 'Breach' Update Gets Spooky With New Explorable Ship Wrecks

SpaceboyScreams

I wish this game ran better on Switch 2. Outlaws gets so much support and looks and runs fantastic. I bought this game because random commentors praised the performance but I won't be making that mistake again, apparently some people can't feel stutters or sluggish frame pacing. I find it near unplayable unless I'm on a barren planet, and it's just not that good looking.

Re: PSA: Switch 2 Launch Title Cyberpunk 2077 Gets A Big eShop Discount In New Sale (US)

SpaceboyScreams

@cedarhyped They don't extend the story or anything like that, or if that exists I haven't tried it, I just mean messing around the map and testing out the mods, vibing, etc. has far extended my personal playtime and enjoyment. I wasn't ready to be done with the world after I beat the story with a couple different builds so I'm grateful the community really pulled through. Even just adding triple jump and flying completely transforms the game into something more exciting to navigate without making it feel too easy (the game does that on its own a little sooner than I'd like even on the hardest difficulty so I also love the mods that enhance the challenge).

Re: PSA: Switch 2 Launch Title Cyberpunk 2077 Gets A Big eShop Discount In New Sale (US)

SpaceboyScreams

@Jeronan It doesn't need them but I love them. I beat it a couple times without them but I'm personally so wildly passionate about modding communities, it keeps evolving what the game is capable of and extending the time of enjoyment I get out of it just like countless other games have, particularly Skyrim and Smash Bros Ultimate for me. Being able to fly in cars, have way more weapon and clothing and vehicle customizations, add a triple jump, fix personal gripes with many clunky aspects and bugs that the devs still haven't gotten to themselves, 4K textures, way more types of weather, etc etc etc turns this 100+ hour game into a 1000+ hour game easily and of course it's hard to go backwards after that. Plus it's just so fitting for a game that's all about... modding. lol

Re: UK Charts: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Sales Almost 50/50 Across Switch And Switch 2

SpaceboyScreams

This website is famous for fanboy cope in the comments (not the actual journalists, to be clear) but this is ridiculous even by your standards. I can't believe none of you dare ask for better from this shameful company. Arceus had nowhere near this level of marketing push and to still see this at 40% less on launch followed by what I imagine will be a steep decline as everyone who isn't in the day1 club will resemble the common internet energy currently looming over this sad excuse for a game is a beautiful thing to see. I'm glad you like the new battling mechanic they stole from an indie dev after shutting their game down with a cease and desist but somewhere deep down your souls have to know you're being fed slop and that this harsh lesson can only be a good thing for everyone including you.

Re: Poll: Is It About Time Game Freak Added Voice Acting To Pokémon?

SpaceboyScreams

@graviton Well the tv show kinda has to have it. For the games they're looking at every penny they don't have to spend very carefully. They never spent a dime on VA for the mainline games before and never had an issue with sales so I don't see them being charitable to the fans who simply kinda want it but will still buy it without it anyways.

Re: Poll: Is It About Time Game Freak Added Voice Acting To Pokémon?

SpaceboyScreams

@ElRoberico you borderline have a sensitivity issue if you think I'm shaming the disabled. there are obviously dozens of disabilities that make gaming harder for people and jumping down a developers throat for not catering to every single one is wild, nobody is going to invest in a team of voice actors for thousands of lines of dialog just to help the hard of reading when there are free apps on your phone that read text out loud. Any 6 year old can work their way through a Pokemon game without asking their parents too many questions anyways. If we want to yell at them about accessibility let's start with the price.

Re: Poll: Is It About Time Game Freak Added Voice Acting To Pokémon?

SpaceboyScreams

@ElRoberico if anything is going to motivate a kid that struggles to read it's going to be them feeling left out because all the other kids are obsessed with something that requires reading. Accessibility doesn't mean coddling, the highest earning franchise in the world obviously isn't struggling in the accessibility department. Motivate the illiterate.

Re: Poll: Is It About Time Game Freak Added Voice Acting To Pokémon?

SpaceboyScreams

Well, you've read their dialog, you've seen their graphics and their "coding". Do you trust them to get voice actors that won't make your ears cringe blood? I feel like it would just end up being two or three old underpaid Indian men that barely speak English getting one chance to nail each line for every character. Or Ai, but like mid-90's "Ai" from those crappy computer toys that read out each letter as your kid types them. It's up to y'all though, I'm officially done with the series.

SpaceboyScreams

The fact that even Smash Bros has 3D assets for the buildings in the Lumios stage when you pause and zoom in is hilarious. There's 0% chance we ended up with stickers due to performance, but since it's one of the main reasons I'm not buying this game I'd be very interested to hear what valid reason they went with. I could care less about this happening to GameFreak of all companies, they're so cheap and predatory, nothing about this slop is worth $100.

@PharoneTheGnome Could also be that reviewers actually played it for more than a couple hours? You're reviewing something you got YESTERDAY darling, who do you think is going to take you seriously? There are many entire worlds where smashing stuff is hardly the point, where clever platforming and beautiful music shine bright for hours. At LEAST get to the Egg Shell Hotel Annex level before feeling like you've seen enough to judge it. Or don't. Whatever. Coming from a guy with DKC tattoos (yes multiple).

And don't say you're not my darling. You are and will forever be my darling 😘

You can steal the corpse but you can't steal the soul, none of these blatant AC rip-offs will ever live up to what they're trying so desperately to emulate. Nintendo, however, can apparently sue for your soul.

Loved the first two games. Hated the demo besides the atmosphere. So often there were no clues or indication about what to do or where to go, which can be done right mind you when trying to be intentionally mysterious or something, but here it's instances more like "oh, you just have to crouch and walk into this wall because there's actually a hole here you just can't see" after spending 20 minutes hopping and shooting your arrows all over the place feeling like an idiot. It's just bad design, with way too many missed jumps to your death due to terrible depth perception - no shadows under your feet etc - and sluggish controls. Maybe it's better on other systems. I'll be waiting for ReAnima.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Super Mario Galaxy + Galaxy 2?

SpaceboyScreams

No HDR, no 10-bit to eliminate banding, no new models, the textures are just upscaled or swapped with less artistic versions, light banding issues on almost every planet in MG2, no mouse mode for 1p or right stick to replace the awkward Pro Controller motion for those who would prefer it, honestly how low is your bar if you consider this a lot of effort? Upscaling to 4K doesn't require any work at all, the lazy texture swaps and a few new pages in the dumb book are all you are really spending $70 on if you already own these elsewhere.

Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Gets A 6-Minute Overview Trailer For Switch 2

SpaceboyScreams

@michellelynn0976 It literally (and I don't use that word lightly) looks like the city level in Sonic Adventure 2 for the Gamecube with far less polygons, colors and building variety. There is no soul to the environment at all, it's a rushed grey cardboard city. What about it actually looks good to you? The copy/paste window, patio and plant stickers adorning every structure? Did you know if you pause the Lumios stage in Smash Bros and zoom in that they actually took the time to make 3D patios? To some people that's embarrassing. You don't have to agree but to defend it so adamantly is a little strange, it was obviously lazy.

Re: Nintendo Of America President Doug Bowser Announces Retirement

SpaceboyScreams

She seems pretty cool, I like her smile and that she's been with the company for so long. I'm not entirely sure what all that role entails but I know Reggie's era felt a lot more fun than Bowser's simply because Reggie was Reggie so here's hoping it's a positive change for the company.

Bonus points if she can put the boot down on Japan's office with ideas like including Wii Sports for free with the Wii, etc. Bonus bonus points if she talks them into bringing themes and music to the Switch homescreen.

Bonus bonus bonus points if she can get all of the game announcement trailers to stop talking to me like I'm 5.
