Re: GTA 6 On 'Switch 2' Would Be "Very Tricky To Pull Off", Says Digital Foundry

SpaceboyScreams

@Ooccoo_Jr Yeah but they'd have to end up being the biggest liars in gaming history to make it conceivably possible to run on a mobile chipset. Way less RTX, way less population density, way less everything we saw in a trailer by the company that's never exaggerated in any of their impressive trailers in the past. A trailer that shows us that even the mammoth consoles at home will only be able to run these at 30fps. Anything can happen but yeah, let's get real up in this chat y'all.

@Athropos How many times have we seen Rockstar release a trailer that wasn't made from clips from the in game engine? None. Not GTA4 or 5, not Red Dead Redemption 2. The trailer has several clues that it's running real time as well.

@mariomaster96 how about a game that utilizes every inch of those expensive hunking consoles' power that need to be plugged in and ventilated to run could not adequately be scaled to any current mobile chipset. Does that sound less speculative?

Re: GTA 6 On 'Switch 2' Would Be "Very Tricky To Pull Off", Says Digital Foundry

@Ooccoo_Jr Yeah that's kinda what they do man. They can look at the footage and discern what kind of hardware can run the combination of resolution, framerate, graphical effects, population density, etc and then deduce the obvious that no, of course Rockstar has no plans or interest in funding the same game twice just to get it running on Nintendo's next gen chipset that's been all but confirmed through several leaks over the last two years.

@JokerCK: Yeahh except we know. We've known. And even if we had no idea, there doesn't exist a mobile chip today that could push anything close to this.

@Axelay71 DF are close with most companies that have all leaked the same chipset and/or had access to meeting showing off BotW in 4K, Matrix demo, etc. that all ran exactly how the leaked chipset would run. Could Nintendo surprise us all, yeah maybe, but also probably not.

Re: Nintendo Reminds Fans Zelda Is Up For Nomination At This Year's Game Awards

Tears came so close to being great for me. After the excitement of building cool stuff dies down you quickly realize there aren't enough events or puzzles or battles that rely on it, it's more of an inconsequential albeit fun seasoning rather than a cleverly utilized mechanic outside a few moments in the "temples" and 30 or 40 shrines. The car and boat courses were insulting, literally just driving over a few lights. I wanted my inventions to really be challenged. The story was good but once again the scattershot memories killed a lot of the potential impact. I don't have as many complaints about the sky islands as a lot of people but I really feel the complaints about the depths, despite spending a hundred hours down there, the Yiga compounds were too simple, the scenery was too repetitive, the gloom was annoying and the rewards being mostly the same as what you get From Amiibo cards were very disappointing. There was a LOT in the game but once the hype and mystique died down and you could really observe it for what it is rather than what it could be it just felt like a lot of missed potential.
BG3 deserves this one hands down.

Re: Aspyr Claims The Star Wars: KOTOR 2 DLC Was Cancelled Due To A 'Third Party'

SpaceboyScreams

A free game is a nice gesture as a gift or an apology to save face for a bad decision, think the Ambassador certificate for those who bought the 3DS at launch, difference being that people who bought it at launch weren't promised something they never received; they were just stuck with their purchase that was, according to Nintendo, $70 overpriced, but it was still worth the initial cost to those who bought it for that price. They can feel ripped off, but the initial promise of what they were getting for the advertised price was fulfilled, so it's a case of too bad so sad for them.
In this scenario, part of the cost of the initial purchase included the guarantee of content to come. You can't simply replace that promise with something that the consumer hadn't initially invested in, as the worth of the "free" games being offered is subjuective. The consumer could potentially view everything on offer as worthless, thus the promise of the value of the initial product is still broken and the consumer is still ripped off. If I am promised 3 courses at a restaurant, am only given one course, but am charged for all 3 with an apologetic coupon to a neighboring restaurant with food I have no interest in, I have every right to seek justice against them.
A refund is the only fair option here.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Also Had A Strong Start In The US

SpaceboyScreams

Man I actually really dislike this game and I have to wonder if not being number 1 is due to lack of people streaming/hyping it on Twitch, TikTok etc because after the first couple days we all saw how patronizing the lack of difficulty and constant bombardment of dialog was and it lost any potential cool points. Yeah it's shiny and silly but the random Wonderseed gimmick is all flash and no substance, no real sense of accomplishment for completing them, it's the video game equivalent of Telletubbies where these odd colorful critters are convincing your toddlers that they're being entertained by giggling and saying "again, again!" as if putting them in a trance instead of actually making them think or learn. The idea of putting the real meat at the end of the game in the special levels instead of working up to that way sooner shot them in the foot and will keep a lot of people from replaying it or even bothering to ever get to the end at all.

Re: Soapbox: Six Months Later, Tears Of The Kingdom's Sense Of Wonder Is Still Unmatched

SpaceboyScreams

It started strong but after the 40 or so best shrines the magic started fading quick. The temples sucked, there weren't enough bosses or new enemies, there was hardly anything to do with building vehicles in terms of challenges or races or battles, it was just a sandbox that felt a little too familiar and tried putting way too much mediocre stuff in one large area instead of a few dozen great things in a smaller area. Elden Ring surpasses the sense of wonder without any of those issues.

Re: Spirittea Blends Stardew Valley With Studio Ghibli On Switch In November

SpaceboyScreams

This isn't the first time this site has thrown the name Ghibli around like a cheap yo-yo. Of course I'm sure many studios strive to achieve that similarity but you don't have to repeat it just because it's in the tagline they wrote for themselves, use it when you actually mean it so I can get excited instead of rolling my eyes and probably scrolling past the next article that tries this trick.

Re: Nintendo Takes Action Against Super Mario Bros. Wonder Mod Videos Featuring "Swearing Flowers"

SpaceboyScreams

Why is this website's community so uptight lol some dude was just being silly with one of his hobbies in his free time and Nintendo's Army rushes to the frontlines with gold like:
"Modders can be annoying sometimes. What is the point of this? Wow, how edgy, the flowers swear."
And multiple just like it with many likes, as if none of you have ever laughed at South Park, Rick and Morty or Family Guy who often rely on similar antics for humor. It's like I stumbled upon a group of sour Catholic grammas.

Re: Video: Here's A Look At Red Dead Redemption Running At 60FPS On Switch

SpaceboyScreams

@Orpheus79V The Switch is designed to run at lower speeds than the chip is designed to for the sake of excessive precaution, but removing the throttle (more technically accurate than an actual overclock) is proven perfectly fine if you follow the modding community guidelines (and most stock OC software won't allow you to go beyond guidelines without further modifications anyways). Yeah battery life takes a little hit but if you're playing docked this is obviously no concern and I'm still getting several hours on the road anyways.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Red Dead Redemption On Switch

SpaceboyScreams

It could be 8K 120 fps with RTX, HDR and 12 different motion blur settings; you're still gonna get transported miles away from your objective if you get killed by a snake 90% of the way through a gun battle that you had to ride a carriage for 30 minutes to get to, and people are still going to randomly start firing at you in town and you can't defend yourself if you've got an objective or you'll "fail". Silly outdated bs game.

Re: Pokémon Company's COO Addresses Issue Between Release Schedule And Game Quality

SpaceboyScreams

They could have doubled development time for ScarVi and it wouldn't have fixed anything, the problem is purely their incompetence. These games STILL haven't outsold Sword/Shield, their first big open world Pokemon game should have crushed those numbers in the first 3 months and they know that and their investors know that and you know they're looking at that but do they have the balls to do anything serious about it? I don't think anything will improve until certain leadership is voted out which may take another big failure or two.

Re: Unlike Metroid Prime, Quake II's Original Dev Team Is Credited On The Switch Remaster

SpaceboyScreams

Someday, 40 years from now, there will be a third remake for Prime that had better have two good hours worth of credits naming every person that ever had anything to do with every little detail, so much as the maintenance of the lawn across the street from the house of the guy who motivated the wife of one of the texture artists in one of the previous remakes.
I wish games had no credits because I hate sitting through them and I know none of you whiners ever read them or remember any names.
