That's a pretty solid lineup for the final year(s) of the Switch life cycle.

@KBuckley27 At this stage, it's probably more casual users still buying Switches vs. hardcore Nintendo fans. I doubt the announcement of a successor is having too drastic an impact. Switch has just sold phenomenally well and in its seventh year sales were inevitably going to slow.

This is such a great title that really flew under the radar. Would recommend checking it out even if it's something you never would have considered before.

But why? People loved the original as it was a solid single player experience. By all means add a multi-player/online mode for scoreboards, etc. but don't make the game a live-service title.

So what are they going to sell in-store? Plastic and merch?

Curious to see what the pricing on this is like. It's a 2-year old game at this point so with DLC included it should retail for €60... but this is Nintendo so it'll probably be about €80-90.

@N8tiveT3ch Framerate is so irrelevant for a game like this, pick a better battle.

Excited for this as I've never played it before but I'm going to save it for nearer Halloween as it feels odd to play this in summer.

Edit: I'm guessing no Direct announcement today if the preview embargo has just lifted.

I'd still shocked this game ever got greenlit but I'm so glad it did. Probably one of the Switch's most underrated franchises.

This is surely/hopefully a Switch 2 release. Civ VI already struggled on Switch and I really don’t want to see a nerfed version of the sequel.

As long as the framerate is consistent and not a Pokemon-level mess then I don't care if it's 30 or 60fps. The whole conversation is beyond exhausting.

That seems like a great result considering digital sales have increased in the 4 years since Origami King was released and this was a remake of a 20 year old title.

My physical order is due today so I'm not sure legitimate sales can really be called a "leak" at this stage when it's released tomorrow?

I really hope they start releasing some new games soon as Playtonic just feel like they're puffing a lot of hot air the past few years.

I was so hyped for this, played the PS5 version and found it hugely underwhelming. The combat is such a letdown, it's super floaty and like there's no collision detection or feedback when you hit an enemy.

No. The whole frame rate discussion is exhausting. Gamers should try complaining less over inconsequential things and enjoying their hobby more.

The series has only gotten better with each sequel so it's probably 4 > 3 (but very close to 2) > 2 > 1.

I'm surprised this hasn't already come to Switch, it feels like a Nintendo console would be the best fit for it.

Maybe if Paramount weren't pumping these sequels out every 2 years they could become more of an event. As it stands that's not going to happen.

Can they not just give us a HD collection of the Gamecube-era titles instead of all these spin-offs.

I think internet access and the ease of DLC has probably killed the third version off for good but I'm surprised GameFreak haven't continued with it.

Selling 6-9m copies of a re-release at €60 vs. selling 6-9m copies of DLC at €30 is surely a lot more financially lucrative.

I'm not sure why anyone buys Ubisoft titles Day 1. They're always heavily discounted within weeks.

Confirming these release dates just makes me extra curious for what they have for the back half of the year. We know pretty much nothing of Nintendo’s Q3/4 plans.

Not them listing F Zero 99, an online, digital-only title, as an option for which titles we "own".

@WhiteTrashGuy This was my issue with it too. The game world was actually interesting but the combat so was poor, attacks had no weight to them. I felt totally disconnected between the controller and what was happening on screen. It's one of the few games I put down after a few hours as I just couldn't get into it.

@Qwertyninty It's easy to blame the Switch but these are just very lazy ports. Plenty of developers have done much, much better. See Doom, Wolfenstein, etc.

It sounds like it could be a Switch 2 launch title, or cross-gen at minimum.

Switch not getting a game release this year was the gag of the direct. Not Gamefreak actually taking their time to develop something properly.

I was so excited at the start of this trailer when I thought they were bringing the full Rare Replay to Switch. Surely it can't be far off...

Square Enix are in dire need of a new strategy considering their continued focus on NFTs and wildly unrealistic sales expectations. Hopefully this is the start of that change.

@jedgamesguy It’s not too surprising. TOTK had incredible hype prior to its launch considering it was a direct sequel to a game widely lauded as one of the best of all time. It was was always going to be more front loaded.

Nintendo were in a much different position with the launch of BOTW coming off the back of the Wii U with expectations a lot more muted.

Either way it’s good to see Zelda has truly cemented itself as one of Nintendo’s biggest franchises this generation.

Thoroughly undeserved.

At least it’s good to see Arceus sold so well from just one version.

The Sky Islands/opening tutorial were by far my least favourite part of the game but the steps required to skip it are far too convoluted.
