I'm not sure it's accurate to say Sw/Sh are still selling at the same rate as Scarlet/Violet. The former added 90k units this quarter, the latter 400k.
I'm still not expecting a reveal until Jan but I'm not sure how much a reveal of Switch 2 at this stage will really impact holiday sales.
I'd imagine any "hardcore" gamers, those who the announcement is going to appeal most to, already own a Switch. It's largely a more general gaming/casual audience who will be purchasing an OG Switch before the end of the year.
@Anti-Matter Weapons?! That would be far too violent for you.
I really don't think there's any saving Star Fox Zero. It would need a major re-work to play without the Wii U gamepad and it looked incredibly dated at release, never mind in 2024.
I know we're all desperate for Switch 2 news but the source being a radom Redditor, who NintendoLife mentions in the article isn't a credible source, is clickbait at its worst.
@rjejr Let's not encourage that user's inane ramblings.
I started Astro Bot last night and it's an absolute joy to play. I'm really hoping it leads to a resurgence in more 3D platformers as there are not enough of them about.
The original game was such a disappointment but I'm really hoping this remake (?) can solve a lot of those issues. Impossible Lair was excellent so hopefully this follows suit.
I really have no idea how this stuff works. Even if it’s been decompiled, don’t Rare still own the IP so any copies of it would count as copyright infringement?
@Folkloner Normally I'd agree but this is Nintendo so you never know what they're going to do. Super cool to have this prototype unearthed after so long
@KBuckley27 At this stage, it's probably more casual users still buying Switches vs. hardcore Nintendo fans. I doubt the announcement of a successor is having too drastic an impact. Switch has just sold phenomenally well and in its seventh year sales were inevitably going to slow.
This is such a great title that really flew under the radar. Would recommend checking it out even if it's something you never would have considered before.
But why? People loved the original as it was a solid single player experience. By all means add a multi-player/online mode for scoreboards, etc. but don't make the game a live-service title.
Curious to see what the pricing on this is like. It's a 2-year old game at this point so with DLC included it should retail for €60... but this is Nintendo so it'll probably be about €80-90.
As long as the framerate is consistent and not a Pokemon-level mess then I don't care if it's 30 or 60fps. The whole conversation is beyond exhausting.
That seems like a great result considering digital sales have increased in the 4 years since Origami King was released and this was a remake of a 20 year old title.
I was so hyped for this, played the PS5 version and found it hugely underwhelming. The combat is such a letdown, it's super floaty and like there's no collision detection or feedback when you hit an enemy.

Re: Nintendo Lowers Its Hardware Forecast As Switch Sales Slow To A Crawl
It was never going to sell TOTK numbers but Echoes of Wisdom doing 2.6m units in just 5 days is super impressive.

Re: Yooka-Replaylee Remaster Officially Confirmed For 'Nintendo Platforms'
I'll wait for reviews and/or a deep discount. Impossible Lair was excellent but the first title was such a letdown.
Re: Best Mario Party Games Of All Time
Looking back on it, Mario Party 1 and 2 being released only 11 months apart is a wild development time.
Re: "We Were So Stumped" - Nintendo On The 'Unorthodox' Development Of Alarmo

They probably will too.

Any word on pricing? Curious how this compares to their other OLED bundles...
Re: Japanese Charts: Switch Dominates As PS5 Price Hike Kills Momentum
@HeadPirate Astro Bot cost nowhere near $100m. Its been widely reported it was only worked on by a smaller team of about 60 people.
When digital is factored it, UK sales are also about 20% above Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart.

Re: Video: We've Played The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom - Here's 15 Minutes Of Gameplay
@OldGamer999 Ubisoft sort of replicated BOTW in (the wildly underrated) Immortals Fenyx Rising.

Re: Hands On: Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Delivers More Than Just A Hi-Def Upgrade
@N8tiveT3ch Framerate is so irrelevant for a game like this, pick a better battle.
Re: Hands On: Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Delivers More Than Just A Hi-Def Upgrade
Excited for this as I've never played it before but I'm going to save it for nearer Halloween as it feels odd to play this in summer.
Edit: I'm guessing no Direct announcement today if the preview embargo has just lifted.
Re: Random: Nintendo Was Initially Hesitant About E3's Iconic Mario + Rabbids Reveal
I'd still shocked this game ever got greenlit but I'm so glad it did. Probably one of the Switch's most underrated franchises.
Re: 'Sid Meier's Civilization VII' Launches On Switch In 2025, More Details In August
This is surely/hopefully a Switch 2 release. Civ VI already struggled on Switch and I really don’t want to see a nerfed version of the sequel.

@PikminMarioKirby That's so odd, what has it done to get a 12+ rating?

@Geit_de Do you have a fear of bubbles?

Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Has Apparently Leaked Online
My physical order is due today so I'm not sure legitimate sales can really be called a "leak" at this stage when it's released tomorrow?

Re: Poll: Are You Bothered By The Frame Rate For Paper Mario: TTYD On Switch?
No. The whole frame rate discussion is exhausting. Gamers should try complaining less over inconsequential things and enjoying their hobby more.
Re: Best Pikmin Games
The series has only gotten better with each sequel so it's probably 4 > 3 (but very close to 2) > 2 > 1.
Re: Ratings Board PEGI Lists Hi-Fi Rush For Nintendo Switch

Re: Sonic Movies To Be 'Avengers-Level' Events, Says Franchise Producer
Maybe if Paramount weren't pumping these sequels out every 2 years they could become more of an event. As it stands that's not going to happen.
Re: Rumour: New Prince Of Persia Game Reportedly Arriving "Later This Year"
Can they not just give us a HD collection of the Gamecube-era titles instead of all these spin-offs.
Re: Talking Point: Should 'Third' Pokémon Games Make A Comeback?
I think internet access and the ease of DLC has probably killed the third version off for good but I'm surprised GameFreak haven't continued with it.
Selling 6-9m copies of a re-release at €60 vs. selling 6-9m copies of DLC at €30 is surely a lot more financially lucrative.
