Yikes at those underwhelming sales for Mario + Rabbids. I really thought after the long-tail of the first game that it was going to be a bigger franchise with Sparks of Hope. Hopefully it sold better digitally.
One of my fave games of all time but that video was a little underwhelming. I thought Sakurai would have shown off a few more concepts or given us a little more behind the scenes footage.
It's not exactly too surprising. They're sitting on so much unused IP in favour of mobile trash. Hopefully the Silent Hill titles renew their faith in the home console market.
It's not a bad game, it just had lots of poor decisions that stopped it being a great game.
My biggest issue was how it didn't respect the players time. There are so many cases where you've navigating through certain levels, only to slip off a platform and have to start from the very bottom of a tedious climb all over again e.g. Noki Bay.
There's a particularly awful section in Delfino Plaza where you need to take Yoshi on a boat ride to find a pipe that leads to a hidden Shine. One small slip, or if Yoshi gets wet, and you need to start the frustration, yet again, from the beginning. I gave up after 45 minutes of trying and just moved on to other Shines.
This seems a bit bogus. The trilogy was (quite rightly) panned but it sold really well and Rockstar even said it "significantly exceeded" expectations back in Feb.
I'd love a return of the Gamecube-era Bond style games. They were diverse and incredibly fun, that blend of genres in a single title is sorely missing these days.
I much prefer offline play but Nintendo not seeing "opportunity" in online play is just bizarre considering Microsoft & Sony are making billions off it.
@Grumblevolcano Can we please stop with these theories. The numbers forecast are still phenomenal for a console so far into its lifespan. Nintendo have no need to release new hardware when the Switch, in all its various iterations, is still selling so well.
Reading those quotes I don't think it means that he believes in blockchain/NFTs as such, at least not in their current guise. I think he moreso meant than he'd like to for players to have the option to monetize their digital games once they stop playing, similar to how we trade in physical games once we're done playing them...
Or maybe I'm just trying to rationalise it too much.
@AndyC_MK111 I don't think they've revealed any of this info but surely it can't be as bad as Chocobo Racing's full price and microtransaction model...

Re: Splatoon 3 Is Yahoo! Japan's Most Searched Video Game Of 2022
@Tharsman Yahoo is still big in Japan, has something like a 20% share of the market there.
Re: A New Limited-Time Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Tera Raid Battle Event Starts Today
The game has been out less than 2 weeks so locking one of the first terra raid battles to post-game content is a weird choice.
Re: Random: Masahiro Sakurai Talks Super Smash Bros. Melee In Latest Video
One of my fave games of all time but that video was a little underwhelming. I thought Sakurai would have shown off a few more concepts or given us a little more behind the scenes footage.
Re: Random: Duplicate Shiny Pokémon With This Scarlet And Violet Exploit
Watch Gamefreak patch this out and leave the rest of the game a janky mess.
Re: Japanese Charts: Tactics Ogre Debuts Strong, Outselling God Of War: Ragnarok
@RushDawg Combined it's still only about 45k for a AAA release of a well known, popular IP.
Re: Japanese Charts: Tactics Ogre Debuts Strong, Outselling God Of War: Ragnarok
I'm really shocked how poor those sales for Sonic are, I thought he was quite popular in Japan?
Re: Pokémon GO Fans Are Not Happy With Niantic's Apology For Bungled Zorua Event
@hypercoyote I am indeed.
Re: Pokémon GO Fans Are Not Happy With Niantic's Apology For Bungled Zorua Event
Pokemon Go fans are never happy, one of the whiniest communities I've ever been a part of.
Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch Games
@GrowingWings What a weird conspiracy theory.
Re: Splatoon 3 Sold Almost 8 Million Units In September, 2022
@uptownsoul New PS5 stock probably came in. Switch is nearly 6 years old now so sales are going to slow.
Re: Konami's Earnings Report Reveals A Substantial Profit Drop In The First Half Of 2022
It's not exactly too surprising. They're sitting on so much unused IP in favour of mobile trash. Hopefully the Silent Hill titles renew their faith in the home console market.
Re: Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope Update Available, Here Are The Patch Notes
That's a nice little patch. I'm about 6 hours in and have only encountered some minor framerate issues.
Re: Glastrier And Spectrier Now Appearing In Pokémon Sword And Shield Max Raid Battles
@LexKitteh Huh? Just send them to pokemon Home. It'll be compatible with Scarlet/Violet in a few weeks.
Re: N64 Classic Perfect Dark Has Been Decompiled, Paving The Way For PC Ports
I'm super confused as to how this is deemed legal, wouldn't Microsoft or Rare still own the copyright? It's effectively just copying their work.
Re: Japanese Charts: Splatoon 3 Cleans Up As NieR:Automata On Switch Places Second
"Which means the game has now sold 3 million copies — that doesn't include physical sales, however."
Think this should say "doesn't include digital sales"?
Re: New Sonic Frontiers Trailer Finally Showcases The Combat, And It's A Lot To Take In
The pop-up must be severe in this game if the pre-release trailers still feature it (see the 58" mark).
Re: Ed Sheeran Is Releasing A Pokémon Themed Song Called 'Celestial'
As one pandemic ends, another begins.
Re: New Limited-Time Pokémon Sword And Shield Distribution Announced For Europe
Wonder if they'll be a pre-order bonus for Scarlet & Violet, that would be a fairer way to distribute them.
Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet's Three Story Paths Have Been Revealed
Calling them 3 separate paths is a bit misleading.
Re: Nintendo Switch Is More Profitable Than Vinyl, CDs, And DVDs In The UK
@progx "CDs had their highest sales since the late 90s last year."
Are you mistaking CDs with vinyl? CD sales have been in terminal decline for a number of years now, they fell 12% in the UK last year. https://darko.audio/2021/12/in-the-uk-cds-are-down-but-a-long-way-from-out/
Re: PSA: Get Muting Folks, Splatoon 3 Spoilers Are Inking All Over The Internet
How can a game like this even be spoiled? It's not like it's particularly plot-heavy like Pokemon or Xenoblade.
Re: Get Ready For A Mario + Rabbids Update At Ubisoft Forward Later This Week
I'm really looking forward to this, praying it's a solid sequel and they don't mess with the formula too much...
Re: Random: This Fan-Made Crash Bandicoot Game Remakes A Hidden GBA Minigame
That's quite the headline.
Re: Mario Kart Tour To Remove Gacha Elements Next Month
Nintendo not actively try to scam consumers is certainly a turn up for the books.
Re: Video: Here's A Teaser Of Fear Effect Reinvented, Coming Soon To Switch
Looks fun, a bit like XIII.
Re: Take A First Look At Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's Updated Battle Stadium
@SoManyHaveDied You could just... not read the articles?
Re: Random: New Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Glitch Means You'll Never Be Short Of Materials
His accent is like something from Xenoblade.
Re: UK Charts: Two Point Campus Sells More On Switch Than Other Consoles Combined
I'm more interested in how its sales compared to the release of Two Point Hospital but great to see it getting so high in the charts.
Re: Poll: What Are You Hoping To See From This Week's 'Pokémon Presents'?
I'm most excited for the toxic fandom meltdown regardless of how good the presentation is.
Re: Nintendo Showcases Orchestral Version Of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Theme
Considering the volume of leaks that had happened in the past few weeks I'm surprised they haven't put out a new gameplay trailer yet.
Re: Soapbox: Super Mario Sunshine Wasn't Bad, It Was Just Ahead Of Its Time
It's not a bad game, it just had lots of poor decisions that stopped it being a great game.
My biggest issue was how it didn't respect the players time. There are so many cases where you've navigating through certain levels, only to slip off a platform and have to start from the very bottom of a tedious climb all over again e.g. Noki Bay.

Re: Best James Bond Games On Nintendo Systems
I'd love a return of the Gamecube-era Bond style games. They were diverse and incredibly fun, that blend of genres in a single title is sorely missing these days.
Re: Bandai Namco Forms New Studio With Pokémon Developer ILCA
I say this as a huge fan but their remakes of BDSP were poor, lazy remakes. Those titles had no love or passion from ILCA.
Re: Random: Nintendo Shareholder Apparently Asked For A New F-Zero At General Meeting
But did Nintendo answer is the real question.
Re: The Switch Has Now Sold Over 25 Million Units In Japan
So which consoles are still ahead of it and by how much?
Re: Tetsuya Nomura Reveals He Was "Picky" About Sora In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Isn't the lore in Kingdom Hearts already a confusing mess? I fail to see how a Smash feature would make it an issue.
Re: Japanese Charts: An All-Switch Top Ten Is Lead By Nintendo Switch Sports
@IronMan30 But PS5 is third?
Re: Reggie Talks About Nintendo's Slow Adoption Of Online Play

@blindsquarel But Crash was a 2D platformer whereas this is 3D?
Re: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Has Sold Over 12 Million Units Globally
Impressive sales, wonder what they would have been like had they released two versions like Sword & Shield, Diamond & Pearl, etc.

@RubyCarbuncle It'll probably be on Now/Sky, definitely won't be coming to Disney+.

Re: Rumour: 18+ Super Mario LEGO Set Looks To Be The Biggest Yet
That explains the movie delay, Nintendo is clearly waiting for the blowback over an 18+ XXX LEGO Mario set to die down.
