"The problems are largely related to handheld play...". No, the problem is they are charging for an effortlless update that should have been free in the first place. If Nintendo can get away by charging 20 for DragXDrive and 10 for Welcome.Tour, you can bet that when they charge 5 dollars for something It means It was made with as little effort as possible to guarantee as much profit as possible.
@Cyrax77 my opinion is my own and you are entitled to yous. I repeat: I don't think It's a good business practice to be obliged to buy something to play games that you are renting from Nintendo. So,.how many times did I say "I"?
Mario's Tennis for VB is more of a sequel to Tennis for GB than a modern Mario Tennis. Both were.developed by Gunpei Yoko's R&D 1 and not by Camelot, like all others. By.the way, there is a game missing from the list: Mario Spprts Superstars for 3DS.
Purchasing an expensive Virtual Boy shell and not owing the games gets a big no from me. Nintendo wants us to own some plastic but not the games. Shame on them and hopes nobody falls for this trap.
This game is as overrated as Mario Strikers Battle League was. What good is a fun core If there is nothing to do with It? Cutting costs and raising prices is no fun.
@electrolite77 the NS2 might be the fastest selling console so far, but only because Nintendo had millions of units available for launch, more so than any other, therefore meeting the demand of the hardcore crowd. What about the casuals? The console, games and acessories are so expensive that shopper avoided the NS2 during the holiday períod. You say the big hitters are coming. They might be. But in Nintendo's opinion, they treat NS2 Editions as brand New games. So It's unlikekly new games in these series are coming anytime soon. Nintendo is upgrading Wonder, so don't expect Wonder 2 anytime soon. The same with Animal Crossing. And where are my Gold coins? Where is the Nintendo Selects line? Why is Nintendo bricking consoles? Nintendo got away in the Switch 1 era by reselling WiiU games (some more expensive than the original release many years prior) because WiiU didn't find an audience, unfortunately. But reselling Switch 1 games for NS2 even more expensive is ridículous.
"Honestly, we're not sure what the heck is going on with that last point. Was anyone really expecting to see a console discount within the first year of sale? Christmas or not, that just seems bonkers to us.". Actually, the S2 failed so bad at Black Friday that many retailers discounted the console $50 in december. It was no good as the console failed again in december as Circana data will reveal in a few days.
"The Switch 2 is doing remarkably well'. If It was, It wouldn't be struggling and that's probably why Doug Bowser left (or maybe was fired or invited to live). Long story short: It sold well initially because there was stock available. After the die hard fans bought the console, there was no other group interested in purchasing the console: not the casual fans neither the expended audience, due to high price, lack of must buy titles (no, MKW and DKB are not killer apps when MK8 and DKTF are better games), lack of innovation/gimmick of its own, Nintendo anti-consumer practices and paid upgrades of Switch 1 games. Sadly, Nintendo will probably never be the Iwata Nintendo ever again, but If Ithe only thing It can do is rehash the Switch every few years, It will cease to be the Nintendo everybody loved and signed up for, and will become a souless mega corporation like Disney.
@michellelynn0976 It's selling so well that It was the.first sale on a Nintendo console in 10 or 9 years, I am talking about the 50 USD off after the Black Friday fiasco.
It's Nintendo's own fault when they decided to release a extensível console that can't move units just 6 months after release, so expensive It moved out of the family/impulse/gift purchase. I hope the NEX Playground can gain more ground so Nintendo can see the mistake they made. I mean, If Furukawa & co see It that way.
I believe hugely disappointing applies to everything Switch 2 in general: prices, anti-consumer practices, first party games and third party games and, of course, Skyrim is no exception.
If I am not mistaken, Animal Crossing amiibo Festival retailed for 40 or 50 dollars with not one but two amiibo included and and even some amiibo cards. Imagine that. Nowadays just one amiibo cost 30 or 40 dollars, and they cost 15 back then. So this game was basically a 10-20 dollar game. I enjoyed It for what It was. It's easy making fun at Nintendo for selling this game because It was the WiiU era, but DragxDrive and Welcome Tour are much worse and got 8 and 7 from Nintendo Life, respectively, and both should have been free too. Remember Nintendo back in the day released the Mario vs DK amiibo game for free (you could play many levels as long as you had the right amiibo). Nowadays If you could visit Nintendo HQ I am pretty sure you would have to buy a 40 dollar ticket for a 30 minute visit, and using the toilet would require buying a DLC ticket for 20 dollars (I am trying to say nowadays they won't even give you toilet paper for free). That's what Nintendo has become.
"After so many years of performance issues on the original Switch, I haven’t quite gotten used to the fact that most games on Switch 2 hit a stable 60fps and that modern third-party blockbusters run on it well".
I am quite certain that most games don't run at 60fps, I am talking about new Switch 2 games. If you count last gen games or Switch 2 Edition, then It's like cheating,.these games shouldn't count.
Requiring additional hardware to play games locked behind a subscription paywall? No thanks. Now that I think about they should have gone for Game & Watch first, as a complete collection of these masterpieces (except the licensed ones) is long overdue.
Ridiculous. More expensive cardboard. The replica is also too expensive. Both are too expensive and can only bee used as long as you have an active subscription. As a VB fan (I own the original hardware and 8 games), I will only buy the replica if the games can be purchased separately. If the games are locked in an expensive paywall and the acessóries are worhless wothout It, a big no from me and another huge misstep from Nintendo.
@BTB20 with or wothout Rhthym Haven, It was a poor Direct. The games I am looking forward to the most on Switch 1 are Metroid and RH, that's why I would like a date. Nothing against Yoshi, Mario Tennis and Pokémon, but seems like Nintendo is pretty much repeating all Switch 1 games on Switch 2. All for a much higher price. Remember when we got Mario 64/Sunshine/Galaxy for 60? Now they want 40 a piece or 70 the bundle (SMG2 was on WiiU Virtual Console for the promotional price of 10 then rose to 20). And as a Switch 2 no-owner, no big titles or system sellers were announced. For Nintendo's most expensive console ever, I expected much, much more.
I give this Direct a 5/10. Almost nothing to be excited about. And why was Rhthym Haven not shown? It Will be a long time until the Switch 2 is a must buy console.
Don't worry about performance, folks. The Switch 3 Edition will release in 2030 and update the game with PS5-level graphics and 60fps for the bargain price of $90 in a game-key card.
Completely overrated, like most Nintendo games here nowadays. These Switch 2 Edition games are overpriced scams. There should be 2 scores: one for those newcomers (not recommended, get the $60 Switch 1 version inatead) and another for those interested in upgrading (not recommended either, $20 is not worth 3 hours of gameplay of remixed stages).
@Duncanballs Switch 2, unlike Switch 1, is overpriced and expensive. You are paying a premium to have a subpar experience (paying PS5 prices and getting PS4 quality)
If Switch 2, a brand new console (not brand new tech by the way, because It seems similar to the PS4 from 2013) can't run games on Its first year, imagine what It will get in 3 years, that is If this thing still has third party support by then.
As good as It looks and as much a genious as Sakurai is, this game is being released in November as the big Holiday title from Nintendo. I doubt this will be a system seller and evergreen though. And another expensive game at that.
Honestly a 7 for this and a 9 for Mario Kart World is over rating games. Seems like these games get and extra point (1-up?) just because they are Nintendo-developed.
The best way to play the first game on Switch is touch screen after an update. I remember purchased on a salé for 5 dollars. If the second game adds touch screen support I might get It on salé. I just wish Forever Entertainment had done another Panzer Dragoon instead.
I don't agree It's sad to say the Wii version is better. This Switch version has better graphics and that's It. But shiny graphics don't automatically make games better. The Wii on the other hand has a controller made for motion gaming and many on-rail shooters, and even though not as precise as a light gun, It's the closest you will get to that experience on modern TV. I recommend, besides House of the Dead 2 & 3, House or the Dead Overkill, Ghost Squad, Gunblade NY & LA Machine Guns Link's. Crossbow Training, Eco Shooters Plant 530, Dead Space Extraction, Resident Evil Umbrela Chronicles/Darkside Chrinocles, Target Terror and many others.
All great songs overall, but the best has to be "Glider" of Pilotwings Resort. So soothing and relaxing (my favorite Glider level in the game was a flight back to Wuhu Island in the sunset, beautiful!). Pilotwings is challenging in later levels and themes such as this make It all better.
