Re: Opinion: Scrapping Gold Points Makes Sense For Nintendo, But It's A Bitter Pill For Loyal Fans

Paulo

Bad move because It affects the fans and the hardcore users who buys more games. The cashback is so low that If you only buy a few games a year, It doesn't matter. But for the afficionados who buy games every month or say don't miss a single Arcade Archive released, they will feel the hit. The incentive for purchasing games is the game itself and the experiencie It brings, but who doesn't love an added bonus? If Nintendo continues doing well and the Switch 2 performs over expectations, don't expect to see a new program any time soon.

Re: Random: Xbox Gets Its Own Shameful 'Mario Strikers' Knock-Off

Paulo

@BenAV Battle League is a good game, the foundation is there, It Just needed more game modes and characters. As of now, Charged for Wii is my favorite Mario Strikers game. Let's hope next generation Nintendo on Switch 2 stops with the artificial updates such as Battle League got of releasing the game in parts. If Battle League didn't kill the franchise, Mario Strikers Will be back in the Future.

Re: Random: Astro Bot "Almost Outdid Nintendo At Its Own Game", Jokes Reggie

Paulo

My top 3 Mario 3D games are: Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Super Mario 3D World and Bowser's Fury. Haven't played AstroBot and don't even have a PS5 but from what I've seen, looks like It's a fun game taking ideas from other games especially Mario, without putting new ideas on the table, being content just being a compilation of what had been done before.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Donkey Kong Country Returns HD?

Paulo

Excellent game in 2010 and great game in 2024. Since 2010, It's been surpassed by DKCTF and also Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, accourding do Digital Foundry. It aged well but not as well as immortal classics such as SMB3 and SMW. Should have been released alongside or prior to DKC TF, a superior game that has been available on Switch for over 5 years.

Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Will Reportedly Be Officially Revealed This Thursday

Paulo

@Unit_DTH I get your point, but It doesn't make sense unveiling new hardware showcasing current generation games. In the Switch Showcase vídeo in October 2016, they didn't announce games, but showed Breath of the Wild and a Super Mario game that had never been seen before, and the other games showed were all released later. If I recall correctly, games were only announced alongside the date in the january 2017 event in Japan.

Re: House Of The Dead 2: Remake Blasts Onto Switch This Spring

Paulo

I downloaded the First one when It was discounted for 5 dollars and did not enjoy the controls. Might give another try though. Still prefer to play light gun games in the Wii and wish Forever had made another Panzer Dragoon, which was more enjoyable than House of the Dead Remake.

Re: Random: This 2D Animator Is Remaking An NES Zelda Dungeon With Hand-Drawn Visuals

Paulo

@G_and_Thomas thanks for the reply. I think Zelda 1 and 3 are different games. Zelda 3 had mostly big temples in a few regions, while Zelda 1 was smaller in scale to its advantage because you could be in the screen next to a dungeon not knowing It was there. Basically in Zelda 1 every rock, tree, bush or wall could be hiding something even dungeon and the sense of discovery is unmatched compared to Zelda 3 where the few walls that can be bombed are cracked. And when you think you mastered Zelda 1 here comes the Second quest. I am not saying Zelda 3 is bad, quite the contrary It's excelente, I am just saying the games are different.
I believe Zelda 2 can also be remade without losing its essence, except for the difficulty.

Re: Sakurai's Penultimate YouTube Video Is All About Iwata

Paulo

@SalvorHardin I am not worried, at least not in the short term. Yamauchi didn't have the heart of a gamer, but owned the Company and was the one who made It all possíble and had good instincts including making the right choice of appointing Iwata, but It must nit have been easy for Nintendo and its staff to lose Yamauchi in 2013 and Iwata so soon in 2015.

Re: Sakurai's Penultimate YouTube Video Is All About Iwata

Paulo

Nintendo is doing fine these days, but something is different from the Iwata days. Maybe It's because It seems the Company is being run by cold executives and not someone who has the heart of a gamer who really loves the job, the Company and the fans. Maybe It's on purpose to not have a strong and charismatic figurehead. And two of my favorite Nintendo systems are from the Iwata era: the GBA (released under Yamauchi though the SP and Micro were from Iwata) and the Wii.

Re: Anniversary: Nintendo Is 135 Years Old Today

Paulo

@darkswabber Here's hoping too, and It will probably happen, since Nintendo has been celebrating the Super Mario Bros anniversay in September 13 every five years since the 20th anniversay in 2005 (2005 with GBM and Famicom Mini Super Mario Bros for GBA, 2010 with Super Mario All-Stars for Wii and a Special Wii with SMB 25 game, 2015 with Super Mario Maker and the 2020 blowout with a Special Direct, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Super Mario 35, the Game & Watch and Bowser's Fury). I'm.excited for what's next.

Re: Rumour: Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games "Finished"

Paulo

Honestly Rio 2016 WiiU was better than Tokyo 2020. Rio 2016 had tournaments, Heroes Showdown and other fun modes like the Rio Carnaval. The only scenario, Copacabana Beach, was a delight with Miis from different countries, always crowded and with new things to see a buy. Tokyo 2020 on Switch on the other hand tries to emulate the inferior 3DS version, with a lot of maps, but empty with no life whatsoever. Honestly I missed Heroes Showdown and Tournaments, because when you finish the story, there is much to do, only play the individual sports. Missed opportunity not having a Rugby or Soccer tournament. By the way, the change of câmera of Rugby Sevens also made It worse on Switch compared to that Wiiu game. And of course the series must have had a decline in popularity after its origins as a motion-controlled game in the Wii years, I bet the Switch version don't sell well. So yeah, the series don't go out with a bang, but makes sense to retire when the characters go back home to Japan. And I suspected the series wouldn't last forever after skipping the Winter games in 2018 and again in 2022 (all Olympics from 2008 to 2016 were covered, Winter or Summer). But If you want to play these games, either on Wii, WiiU, DS, 3DS or Switch, Winter or Summer games, grab a physical copy while you can, because there is a very low probability of these games being rereleased officially due to license and lack of interest in Olympic games gone by. The Switch game is still on the eshop, but I remember the WiiU and 3DS games were gone before the eshop closed.

Re: The Plucky Squire Dazzles And Charms In New Sneak Peek Gameplay Trailer

Paulo

Looking great. "What an odyssey" literally, as this is truly inspired by Super Mario Odyssey, but having more emphasis (and variety) on the 2D sections, and I mean that as a compliment, considering that was an extraordinary gameplay mechanism (who wouldn't look forward to the next 2D segment in every new stage in SMO?)

Re: House Of The Dead 2: Remake Gets Rated For Switch By The ESRB

Paulo

@carlos82 the Wiimote wasn't exactly a light gun, but It was close. Playing with just the Wiimote was ok, but playing Ghost Squad and Crossbow Training with the Zapper was great, while other games like House of the Dead were better with the Perfect Shot. Much better than on Switch, no comparison.

Re: Review: NeoSprint (Switch) - Atari's Pricey But Revved-Up Retro Romp

Paulo

@LadyCharlie why 5 or 6 when there are no faults in the game except for the lack of online multiplayer? We can complain about the price, but scoring based on the price doesn't seem fair. Would this be an 8 or 9 iif It cost $15? I am sure this will be on sale sooner than later. Also, comparing to free games like F-Zero 99 hides the fact that It will go offline someday (or be unplayable If you don't renew your NSO subscription), whereas NeoSprint will be playable as long as your system functions, no wi-fi required to play.
