@Markatron84 outside of the creative Wonder powers (and the singing piranha platns), Super Mario Bros Wonder is not that great a platformer as many prodecessors. I think 3 is the best one, other people will say It's World. The New séries has a bad reputation, but keep in mind: the first two games are Very good. Nintendo's mistake was releasing the unmpressive and weakest of all (2 the 3DS game) so close to U, which is a much better game (better than Wonder even) and would have been so much more fondly remembered had ALL the game been made in the starry night graphics, which I am sure was the starting point for Wonder
@Tayrailbridge seems like there was a 90% drop in Sales in July. Those numbers seem good but actually Nintendo stockpiled consoles for the release, being the scalpers themselves by overpricing everything. The most ridiculous thing I ever saw was those sold-out posters printed by Nintendo themselves. Now there are reports that are plenty of stock available everywhere. If yesterday's Direct is an indication, third party support Will be weak and all on game Key cards.
@Rentaro G&W are generally very good. Growing up I only had Oil Panic (in my region G&W was difficult to get and the Casio minigames were more widely available) and I knew people who had Mario Bros, DK Jr, Mario's Cement Factory and Fish. I honestly played the orange DK when I was probably 5 (in 85) because a japanese had It in a plane I was on (no kidding). Then I only played It again in G&W Gallery 4 (I skipped 2) and the DS version is the best one. I unlocked and played DK 3 in G&W Gallery 3. And the color games I only played the unlockable one in G&W Gallery 4. So yes, the G&W in general are awesome, and the DK ones are some of the best (I also love Parachute and Climber). Nintendo releasing another G&W with a lot of games would be cool or adding them to NSO. Right now the easiest way to play them is G&W Gallery on GBA, which has 20 games if you can unlock them (one third of the 60 total).
Tropical Freezer is a perfect game. Only hype for Bananza and nostalgia for DKC2 is leaving It out of number 1. By the way, Jungle Beat and DKC3 are too low and both are better than DKC 94, DKC 1, DKC 2 and maybe even DKC Returns. And Bananza is too recent to bê number 1.
I honestly think this is unacceptable for a 2025 brand-new expensive console released just 45 days ago. Either Nintendo can no longer optimize their games or the Switch 2 is a low tech overpriced console, a scam.
So, can I say that Donkey Kong Bananza is better than Super Mario Odyssey? No, I can't. And honestly, what is? Answer: Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 and Super Mario 3D World
He is right. Games are supposed to be fun for the costumers, and not an end which is supposed to envolve creativity, expression of ideias, feelings, beliefs or emotions through forms of manifestation such as painting, literature, music, dance etc. I think It's válid to say that games need artists to be created, but the sum of its parts, while trying to evoke feelings in the costumers, is not art itself, but closer to craftmanship. And the end result is play not the expression of the maker or irs culture. Artists can create toys but toys are not art. And videogames are modern toys. Movies are considered art because they combine visual and sound elements to transmit messages and provoke feelings, like It was a painting in motion. But It's supposed to be enjoyed the way It is, not to be played. And the art is cinema making. Posters, characters, music for games and music are not art, but merchandise and paraphernalia.
@chriswashere313 no, they are quite different. Piranha Plant Slide is basically an underground 1-2 like track. Piranha Plant Pipeline on the other hand is a almost all tubes and has branching paths. Considering the booster pass was basically Mario Kart Tour Switch Edition, It's too bad this track didn't make the cut.
One of the many qualities the Wii had was those "lightgun" games. Both Resident Evil, the many Sega games, 2 Nintendo games, some third party and some on WiiWare. Really fun times!
As amazing as Breath of the Wild os, It's sad to see this 2017 WiiU game being considered the best Switch 2 game in 2025 (It's almost like the NES Super Mario Bros released on Virtual Console on Wii on December 25, 2006 was considered the best Wii game in 2006. Imagine that!) Also, Nintendo should host a masterclass on how to screw up Mario Kart.
Coming from 2025 Nintendo, low price = low content. Seems like there is no local multiplayer and 1 player offline probably just to play against bots and maybe, If you are luck, one small championship. I see this as the successor of the Metroid Blast Ball, which was free on the 3DS, and a more complete version was included in Federation Force. So $20 for Drag X Drive is a drag and $20 too expensive
The $ 80 price point should have been listed as a negative and therefore score lower, maybe an 8. Remember this is the game that kickstarted the $:80 price tag just 2 years after Nintendo first and so far only $ 70 game: Tears of the Kingdom, with many more to come. The sky is the limit now, so be prepared for more price increases in the future.
This console is a scam, Nintendo's worst. Too big, heavy and drains battery life so.fast It's not a handheld. And zero innovation. And too expensive for what It is. I really hope It fails or else expect Switch 3 with zero innovation n 2030 for 600 dollars and 100 dollars games. Remember: they are blaming inflation and inflation will never cease to exist.
Back in the day I would rate all 3 games a 10. Mario Kart was a slower F-Zero with itens, Mario theme and multiplayer. Five years later the N64 game was bigger and faster and not flat, and Four player game was incredible. Four years later the GBA was an achievement for a portable game and went back to being flat but improved upon the SNES game with tricks learned from 64 and was the first game with retro tracks, and with 40 tracks in total is the Second game in the séries with the most tracks, behind only Mario Kart 8. Nowadays they are still great games but not the series best.
@PerfectFrost If you pay attention to the Company history, you will notice that more power back then allowed for different gameplay. F-Zero, Mario Kart, Pilotwings etc would not have been possible on the NES. Same goes for the GBA when It comes to portable gaming. The 3DS had glasses-free 3D, which was incredible at the time. The GameCube is fine, but It was the reason Nintendo decide to move to the blue ocean to stánd out. More power nowadays usually means framerates, lightning etc. Switch 2 has a lot to prove, but I can sense It will be just fine, but not amazing, at a very high price. Meh.
@Divinebovine I really hope It doesn't. I see no innovation, no risk in Switch 2. Being successful, Switch 3 Will be a (more expensive) Switch 2 Pro and so on. Welcome to the Furakawa era
@mariomaster96 I really hope It doesn't. I see no innovation, no risk in Switch 2. Being successful, Switch 3 Will be a (more expensive) Switch 2 Pro and so on. Welcome to the Furakawa era
I still believe the system and the games are more expensive than they should be. Therefore, the high demand won't last too long. But if It does, It means Nintendo's gamble has paid off
@Burning_Spear either because they don't want to and already refused or because Nintendo understands that they are a small 5 people studio and wants to stay that way.
Comparison is biased. Many past consoles came with complete games (NES, SNES, GB, VB, Wii, WiiU Deluxe which is posted here) or at least demos (DS, 3DS). Other point is many of the consoles saw a sharp price decline in a couple of years, which doesn't happen any longer. Switch 2 on the other hand is expensive and doesn't even come with Welcome Tour.
Not a bad one. The weakest is the GBC, which slim pickings equal the N64 in number, but not in quality. I would probably pick the NES as best one, but there is a reason: those games came out in Japan between 83 and 85. Nintendo of America Just had the luxury of releasing them all together.
@ottoecamn Mario Kart 8 had paid DLC on the WiiU (4 extra cups or 16 tracks) and again on Switch (12 cups or 48 additional course that are basically ports from Mario Kart Tour. Wonder why they didn't just make Mario Kart Tour Deluxe). In the meantime, the Deluxe version offered from the get-go Battle Arenas, when that original game had zero, just regular tracks for Battle.
@anoyonmus yes, but Nintendo needs more exclusive games If they want to sell the Switch 2 at such a Premium price. There are already 150 plus Million Switch owners who can pick those games for Switch 1, no expensive upgrade required
Considering this is Switch 2's premiere Direct, I thought It was just average. This was Nintendo biggest bump in price in many years, so I expect to purchase less games in the Future. The Future for Switch 2 might be bright, but we only got a small glimpse of It. That tech demo being paid is ridiculous. And Nintendo showed no games for 2026. Heck, they might have not shown all 2025 games yet. They should have shown more in my opinion.
They may be correct. The afficionados Will buy It. Those who bought 8 recently Will find It too soon to purchase the new one right away. But the casuals Will buy It too sometime if the console appeals to the mainstream market, turning the game into evergreen. Let's hope Nintendo doesn't make the same mistake they made this generation with the Sports games and release the game complete at launch.
By the way, I just Hope the game is officially unveiled next week as Mario Kart X, Mario Kart 10 or Mario Kart Something Else, cause It makes no sense for you to call It Mario Kart 9.
I don't see why there can't 2 versions. Nintendo did this in 2006 and again in 2017 with Zelda (screwing WiiU owners delivering a great game but stripped of all promised gamepad funcionalities). Of course both times the games were delayed deliberately to be a launch title system seller. Metroid isn't as popular. But not announcing a release date in the Direct was a suspect move that there will be a S2 version
I would love to see that. Hoperully a new game is the works, and If It performs above expectations, that is a possibility. Too bad Switch never got Star Fox beyond Starlink, with Switch installed base and a great game, It could have been the franchise's best selling title.
To be honest, none, games aren't as essential as air, water or food. On the other hand, my backlog is immense, so I haven't played all the games I wanted. But my favorite exclusive Switch games are Metroid Dread and Bowser's Fury.
Not without many rereleases and remasters they can't. On Switch they relied too much on WiiU rereleases. Next time, they won't get away with that, because Switch 2 is backwards compatíble and Switch 1 had many multi-million sellers. I have no intention of buying a Breath of the Wild Deluxe, and It doesn't make sense to rerelease a 40 million seller so soon, as everybody has already played It
Bad move because It affects the fans and the hardcore users who buys more games. The cashback is so low that If you only buy a few games a year, It doesn't matter. But for the afficionados who buy games every month or say don't miss a single Arcade Archive released, they will feel the hit. The incentive for purchasing games is the game itself and the experiencie It brings, but who doesn't love an added bonus? If Nintendo continues doing well and the Switch 2 performs over expectations, don't expect to see a new program any time soon.
@BenAV Battle League is a good game, the foundation is there, It Just needed more game modes and characters. As of now, Charged for Wii is my favorite Mario Strikers game. Let's hope next generation Nintendo on Switch 2 stops with the artificial updates such as Battle League got of releasing the game in parts. If Battle League didn't kill the franchise, Mario Strikers Will be back in the Future.
My top 3 Mario 3D games are: Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Super Mario 3D World and Bowser's Fury. Haven't played AstroBot and don't even have a PS5 but from what I've seen, looks like It's a fun game taking ideas from other games especially Mario, without putting new ideas on the table, being content just being a compilation of what had been done before.
True definition of hidden gem on GBA. When I finally decided to pick It up many years ago, you could no longer find It in stores and the price on second hand was already skyrocketing with so few units available.
Excellent game in 2010 and great game in 2024. Since 2010, It's been surpassed by DKCTF and also Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, accourding do Digital Foundry. It aged well but not as well as immortal classics such as SMB3 and SMW. Should have been released alongside or prior to DKC TF, a superior game that has been available on Switch for over 5 years.

Another great update. Really miss Pilotwings and I still don't understand why the original wasn't in the SNES Classic Edition.

Numbers 1, 4 and 10 are WiiU titles, so yeah the remakes paid off this time. But for Switch 2 I doubt It
