Re: Video: Super Mario Bros. Movie 'Princess Peach Training Course' Clip Released

Paulo

Looking forward to the movie, but I have 2 minor complaints:
1. Since the 1983 pre-Mushroom Kingdom game is called Mario Bros, I think Mario & Luigi's plumbing company should have been called Mario Bros (not SUPER Mario Bros, even the 1993 movie got it right by calling them Super at the end)
2. A problem arose since the 4 player NSMB games, where the Toads are playable: if everybody in the Mushroom Kingdom (Peach and the Toads) has amazing jumping abilities (see Peach in the vídeo) and can aquire super powers (mushrooms, fire flowers and all the special suits), then what is so Super about the Mario Bros?
Don't get me wrong, these points don't interfere with the gameplay, just the legend.
Super Mario Bros is my favorite series ever and I have tickets bought for the premiere tomorrow night and I will watch the movie again next week with my kids. Just food for thought.

Re: Soapbox: 1080° Snowboarding Is The Coolest Nintendo Ever Got

Paulo

Completely agree Nintendo needs to release 1080 and "'precision arcade racers' — the Wave Races, the Excitebikes/Trucks, and F-Zeros of the world". I just wouldn't call Excite Truck a precision racer, but still a lot of fun. I would also add Pilotwings to the list. Too bad Nintendo only seems interested in Mario Kart. Some variety is always welcome! And with Switch selling so well they should take more risks producing some of these games that they think underperformed in the past.

Re: Countdown: 3DS eShop Spotlight - Crimson Shroud

Paulo

@Deemo37 you are right, I am looking up and there were 7 games in total: Liberation Maiden, Aero Porter, Crimson Shroud, Weapon Shop de Omasse, and the last 3 were Attack of the Friday Monsters, Bugs vs Tanks and The Starship Damrey.

Re: Nintendo Is Officially Skipping E3 2023

Paulo

@Magician I give Switch 2 or 3 more years. No way Nintendo would release that many titles since Splatoon 3 in the platform's last year. And since Switch is super popular, Nintendo won't be able to get away porting games from the previous generation. So they need time to make new games.

Re: Miyamoto: Nintendo Is "Always" Working On Mario, But Isn't Ready For The Next Game Reveal Just Yet

Paulo

@Altaria_97 good point but considering we are getting brand new Fire Emblem, Zelda and Pikmin this year, preceded by an all new Splatoon last year, Nintendo Switch 2 is probably still 2 or 3 years off. No way Nintendo would release this many titles in Switch's last year. But the question remains on when Mario is launching. It would make sense to release It close to the movie, but the date was alotted to Advance Wars and Zelda. On the second semester perhaps? By the way, Switch is so successful that I wish Nintendo invested in riskier dormant franchises to let them shine: Wave Race, 1080, Excite Truck, Pilotwings, F-Zero, Star Fox.

Re: Random: Early Build Footage Of Unreleased DS de Blob Game Surfaces Online

Paulo

I'm really a fan of de Blob, I have both games on Wii and Switch and also 2 on DS. Too bad de Blob 1 never came to DS, and I thought back in 2018 and 2019 that a rerelease of 1 and 2 meant de Blob 3 was coming.

"In a time before Splatoon...". Funny you mention that, because when I saw ink at that Nintendo Direct back in 2014 or 2015, the first thing I thought was that de Blob 3 was coming, until a squid came out of the ink.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Mario Strikers: Battle League

Paulo

Love Mario Strikers, but I can't understand why the 15 year old and still excellent Strikers Charged has more game modes and twice as many characters as this game (about 9 or 10 captains and almost as many team mates). For me the single player mode Challenge Mode was a no-brainer to make a comeback with new game modes.
