Re: Poll: What Is Your Favourite Game In The Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection?

Pally356

As much as I like MvC2, the original MvC still has a special place for me. Perhaps its nostalgia, but the first time i saw that game and that you could play as Strider (who looked so much cooler than his original sprite) along with the likes of Morrigan and Ryu, i lost my mind. I even remember going on a field trip with a summer day camp to an arcade/entertainment center, and when all the other kids were playing the ticket redemption games, I saw they had Marvel vs. Capcom and went to play that against some of the bigger kids. I can't remember if I won or lost though...

@TotalHenshin Maybe Triple H and Shawn Michaels really like this game and wanted to give it their Degeneration-X seal of approval?

In all seriousness, i just noticed that myself. Now i can't unsee it.

Re: Video: Early Gameplay Of Sega Revival Projects Leak Online

If Crazy Taxi ends up being just an online only game, I have a feeling it isn't going to fare well (no pun intended). I like the game, but there really isn't much more to it than just a few quick games online. I personally would love to see some sort of game where you make a driver and have to go through a story of rising up as a Taxi driver. I feel like it would be silly, but I think it would make thigns fresh.

As for Shinobi, it shows great promise. Im surprised that its focusing more on sword combat rather than shurikens like in the original games. The art looks gorgeous. I'll definitely be looking at this one closely.

I know these are early development builds, but im curious to see where everything goes.

I still think about the fact that when I was in middle school, I was playing this game last at night with the lights out...and it actually ended up traumatizing me. Like, all of the stuff weird music and effects were what stuck with me (music has a pretty big effect on me). For the next few years, I had to listen to music to go to sleep because I would always hear the third phase music play in my head. It was like that for some time. Nowadays it doesn't bug me but....

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Contra: Hard Corps / Probotector

Pally356

This is a tough one for me. NA looks really cool with the action pose, but the Japanese art style is relaly nice too. Truth be told, when I think about the 16-bit games, it never really felt anime style to me, so because of that, I went with the NA art.

Re: Talking Point: 'Remake' Vs. 'Remaster' - What's Your Definition?

Pally356

When I think of a remaster, its basically a game that polishes the graphics, fixes bugs, makes some QOL fixes, and maybe adds in some new content or two. Examples of this would be the recent Tomb Raider 1-3 collection. Basically the same game with cleaner graphics, all the content, and some extras like updated graphics and controls (switchable of course).

Remake is the game that has been redone from the ground up. It has practically the same story, but with lots of new content, gameplay elements, etc. To me this would be something like Persona 3 Reload, Metroid 2 Samus Returns, etc.

ANd then I think of a Port, which is basically, the same game, but running on the intended system's hardware. Sometimes it'll get lucky with better graphics, but thats about it. Basically Super Mario 3D All Stars (though that at least had a music player).

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Super Bomberman (SNES)

Pally356

I actually prefer the Japanese version because it shows all of the enemies in the cover. I know no one really plays Bomberman for the story but...this sits well with me because of the memories i have with the original. The american is kinda funny and i kinda dig it...especially how Black Bomberman tosses the bomb over his head.

The clown on the JP art reminds me how that boss scared the crap out of me when i first played the game. To see the screen go dark (except for the characters) and then the clown face just appearing making faces was scary. And him making that face each time you hurt him was very memorable.

NGL, i really like the European version. Like the NES original is kinda cool with their old box style, but the European one I dig.

The Japanese one looks kinda cool, but the bright shot is kind of blinding surprisingly.

Re: Sega Announces New Games In Development For Classic Franchises

Pally356

@Windy Man, PSZ is a throwback. I remember getting that instead of PSP2 because it was more convenient for me...I didn't think it was a bad game per say...but idk, just felt very PSO light.

I should probably jump back onto one of the unofficial servers for PSO for old time sake. I had a friend whom i was close with that I would always go on around this time and play with her. We would always try to get the holiday Rappies.

Re: Sega Announces New Games In Development For Classic Franchises

NGL, I am iffy about the look of SoR and Golden Axe. Crazy Taxi looked amazing, but im wondering whats going on with the cops. do you have to taxi people while avoiding the law?

Jet Set Radio looked really good...but I have to say the one I was the most excite dfor was Shinobi. That art style looked great.

Im really hoping that 'and more' could have possibly meant that we get a new classic style Phantasy Star. Wishful thinking of course.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Contact

Pally356

I just ended up starting this game...its so bizarre, but I got stuck.

The NA box art reminds me of an album for Gorillaz. But I kinda feel like the other box art is kinda boring...so i with with the NA one.
